April 17, 2019

5.0

Pros

It's free to use, has a large number of useful features, and royalties aren't much of a problem for most indie games.

Cons

Nothing, I've been using Unreal Engine for various purposes for 20 years.

### "Es un verdadero reto utilizar Unreal"

October 27, 2023

### "Unreal Engine - for cinematics"

October 19, 2022

Since Unreal Engine's renders are of very good quality, we use it hand-in-hand with iClone. We create the animations in iClone, then use the live-link feature to send the animations over to Unreal Engine for rendering

Pros

\- With the intriduction of Lumen in Unreal engine 5, there's even better shadows, and reflections for film production.- We can import any assets or characters (including motions) into Unreal Engine for animation- With the introduction of Nanite in Unreal Engine 5, we can build much bigger worlds without straining the computer- Through the Live-Link feature, Unreal Engine integrates seamlessly with iClone, which is one of the best animation software by far

Cons

\- Unreal Engine's learning curve is quite steep- Animation tools leave much to be desired

Reason for choosing Unreal Engine

Nvidia Ominverse is still in beta, so the software is currently very buggy.

[Blender](https://www.capterra.com/p/167519/Blender/)

At the time, Blender only had Cycles render engine, which unfortunately does not give real-time animation. Later on, Blender introduced Eevee renderer, which is real-time but unfortunately could not produce the quality we sought. Switching to Unreal Engine fixed this problem for us.

### "Top tier 3D game making Software"

March 19, 2018

5.0

It's a complex software but that is because of the capability the Software has itself, there is a lot of tutorials on youtube that can help you get started but it takes time to get used to it.

Pros

This software lets you go beyond limits in 3D gaming creation, if you really are a prepared game devoloper and/or have a team this can lead you to making the next top hit game.

### "The most powerful in your hands"

September 13, 2018

5.0

Pros

I'm a 3D artist with very little knowledge in programming, but the Blueprint system allowed me to easily implement my characters and make playable demos and scenes. The templates are are the perfect way to start and get things going.

Cons

Softwares crash, and Unreal is it known for frequent crashes. Marketplace could be better.

### "Hands down one of my favorite out-of-the-box engines to work with."

September 18, 2017

5.0

As stated in the initial review, Unreal Engine is hands down one of the greatest engines on the market, and due to a combination of the educational resources and integration of tools into the development pipeline, I can saw that it will probably be my go to engine for the foreseeable future.

Pros

Epic has really taken the cake with Unreal Engine and the suite of tools within that can be easily integrated into any game development pipeline. I've had the pleasure of working with this engine both on my own for courses I've taught and within a development environment and it is hands down my favorite game engine to develop on.

Cons

In the past, the resources for learning how to use the engine were lacking, but as of late, Epic has done an amazing job at putting out free resources that allow people to get up to speed on the various aspects of the Unreal Engine 4. This alone opens the door to new users and helps out tremendously for those who are new to game development of some of the latest features.

### "The one that create Fortnite"

November 6, 2020

5.0

Great opportunity to use the same engine that created graphically beautiful games and very popular games.

Pros

It made arguably the most popular game and is able to constantly feed an audience with new features. You can get started for free; however, you definitely need to be trained in the UI. If you have the time and resources, definitely go for it.

Cons

Why did Epic Games have to pick a fight with Apple. Apple is punishing all users of Unreal Engine from updating their games so that's not cool but hopefully it'll blow over and we can update the games.

### "Very Simple To Use"

April 28, 2019

5.0

I have used Unreal Engine to practice with developing games and get more experience. It took me some time to learn but it was worth it to start developing powerful games. It helped me get more experience with my designing and programming skills. Overall, if you really want to make games then this is a great engine to do it with.

Pros

Unreal is a very powerful engine that you can use to make pretty much any type of game at any scale. It is free for anyone to use, which is great if you are just starting out and learning. I like that you can easily develop for a number of different platforms and have a way to quickly test them. It's also popular so there are many tutorials made that can help you learn.

Cons

Unreal Engine might not be the easiest software to learn when it comes to making games. It has a larger learning curve than other engines and can be very overwhelming when you are just getting into developing. There also isn't as many plugins as other engines such as Unity.

### "An incredibly powerful tool for creating immersive visuals and games."

December 19, 2021

5.0

The feeling of unleashed creativity in a 3d world is a truly spectacular accomplishment for the team at Epic Games and I look forward to the upcoming release of Unreal Engine 5.

Pros

Unreal Engine has made the design process more visual and intuitive for users that are not trained in coding languages. Node based programming is one of my favorite innovations that Unreal Engine brings to the process.

Cons

The small text in some of the menus makes it look a bit daunting at first, but I believe that there are just so many options on each screen that the text needs to be small enough to fit it all on screen. I'm sure there are accessibility settings that I can tweak, but I have not left the default settings yet.

### "Starting as a professional"

March 22, 2021

5.0

I was part of a game enthusiast group interested on development of a digital game. After some research, the option was to use Unreal Engine given its supposed potential and, by the fact that some of our preferred last generation games were built by the giant companies in the gaming scene, based on this Engine (search for "best Unreal Engine games" and, you'll be surprised). The experience lasted half an year and, the amount learned was impressive so that, at the ending, the final results were quite decent and, lots of aspects in gaming design were learned such as programing for games, designing level design, artificial intelligence for enemies, modular programming (for those not experienced with actual programming languages). The learning curve is quite nice in a sense that by following internet tutorials, you can quickly do small but, nice looking demos. Remarkable experience.

Pros

Ease to implement level design, Large library with pre-defined graphical elements, Ease to integrate with 3D modelers such as Maya or Blender, Capacity to compile your games to many different platforms, Very nice tutorials available through internet for beginners.

Cons

At first glance, seems quite confusing given the large number of options but, be persistent. It is not possible to start it without checking some basics tutorials as it is not an intuitive framework.

### "AAA Game Engine with proven industry record"

September 5, 2019

5.0

Gameplay Engineer and Game designer, have been using UE for a personal project

Pros

UE is the go-to for any AAA game development. The features, render system, and C++ coding base, makes this a one-of-a-kind engine, with a great community and great support behind it, as EPIC is making games with UE, to prove it's worth all the time

Cons

The pricing range for indies is somewhat complex, and the marketplace has much fewer items than the competitors, but this trend is changing every day.

### "Most Robust & Supported Option"

December 13, 2019

5.0

When working as an indie developer, Unreal was the most universally appealing engine. It had a low grade learning curve, blueprints made scripting accessible to more team members, was the best overall solution for our projects.

Pros

Unreal is the cleanest and most straight forward engine I've used, while producing the best quality output. Tools like the material editor and features like the landscape painting layers make the experience feel more organic and intuitive than other engines. Volumetric fog and dynamic lighting feel comparatively magical. Feels less cumbersome and more fully featured than other options. Easier to achieve artistic vision. Better optimization and expense management.

Cons

Plugins and support community are less open and accessible than some other engine communities, and not quite as accessible for multiple platform applications.

### "Amazing community and easy to use software"

January 18, 2023

5.0

Pros

The real benefit of using the unreal engine is it's ease-of-use. All the tools and graphics are easily available to the user making it hassle-free to create any environment. Also, the forums and the community working on and behind unreal are unreal, any issue I ran into seems to be solved already.

Cons

Using this app to its fullest extent can really take a toll on your GPU and RAM (which is understandable). But also, some of the features are not fully optimized such as the bindings feature.

### "Gold standard in gaming physics"

July 10, 2020

5.0

Many years of experience with different games that utilize the Unreal Engine. Has revolutionized gaming.

Pros

Unreal engine is ubiquitous throughout gaming on PCs/consoles and has set the gold standard for gaming physics as an engine.

Cons

The engine itself has no specific issues but it may be implemented in incomplete games with lag/bugs. However, this is not a function of the engine but the specific game or platform.

### "Surprisingly easy to use game engine for 2D and 3D graphic development."

July 22, 2018

4.0

It allows me to work with 2D and 3D graphic development and game design without having a lot of background knowledge.

Pros

It has tons of options and features, but is surprisingly easy to start with (especially with some C++ programming knowledge). It is also easy to get life-like graphics with the lighting rendered or particles modeler. The community is large, meaning there is a large repository of tutorials/guides/forums when you encounter an issue.

Cons

A finished product requires hardware with quite high specification to be able to run smoothly, even for small games.

### "Unreal Engine: Totally Unreal"

February 12, 2020

5.0

Overall, Unreal Engine has been great so far. I don't know if I'll ever finish my game, but at the very least, it's been good to practice with. It's intimidating, but once you get the hang of it, it works very well.

Pros

I've been using the Unreal Engine to create a game of my own, and even though I have limited experience with programming, it's been great so far. You can start using the software for free, so it's great to practice with, especially when you consider the amount of tutorials present. I appreciate that it can be used for more than just games—you can just create videos and graphics with it, if you please. It's a versatile piece of software. It's also updated fairly often, and each update comes with new features, bug fixes, and more. If you have a problem with Unreal Engine, chances are it will be fixed at some point.

Cons

Unreal Engine is a popular product, but getting into it can be really intimidating. It's not for beginners, which I wasn't aware of going in. I'm used to it now, but those hurdles starting out will probably scare off a lot of inexperienced users.

### "The latest upgrade to TwinMotion and the Unreal Engine is second to none. "

September 8, 2022

4.0

This is a great suite of design software that allows you to make impressive photorealistic renders and environments. The latest release improves upon the lighting effects which add great depth to your designs. I am impressed.

Pros

The end result from the render engine is second to none. Many times I have had my renders mistaken as real images. This is a great piece of software.

Cons

Slight learning curve but once you get a workflow this suite of software is remarkable.

### "My experience with Unreal Engine "

August 17, 2022

5.0

Pros

Unreal Engine is one of the best Choise for making games, very useful, full of free assets and more; the graphics that unreal can achieve are incredible, and there is a vast world of tutorials you can use to take your game to another level.

Cons

Maybe if you are trying to make a game at first you will be overwhelmed by the ui of UE and is fair, also the complexity of UE is why this program is often used by professionals, the nodes are not friendly with newcomers.
