### "Great Environment for game creation"

November 7, 2022

5.0

I have used Unreal Engine while I was in school for game development, and I loved the fact that they don't charge those with student accounts. It is a relatively difficult program to figure out how to use, as all game IDE's tend to be. I still think it's worthwhile to learn if one has the inclination and the time to figure it out.

Pros

I love the fact that Unreal Engine is free for students to use, and you can actually receive a lifetime account after signing up with a student email address.

Cons

It lacks some of the functionality available in similar programs (namely Unity, which is probably the better option for game development).

### "Using to create professionnals prototypes (indutrials and training)"

April 27, 2018

5.0

Pros

Everything, the philosophy, the functionnalities, tons of it ! It's a very well engineered piece of tech, and it evolve every month. As a developer, I love the way, Unreal handle things and how I'm not limited by it to create tailored functionnalities and experiences.

Cons

Not so much really, I never felt limited or blocked in my developpement thanks to the blueprint system that allow me to create functionnalities that I would not be able to develop otherwise

### "Software impeccabile"

July 5, 2023

5.0

Pros

### "A game changer!"

November 14, 2017

5.0

Pros

I have used Unreal Engine 4 on a few projects already and I can say for sure that it has saved us time over other engines by it's great workflow and there is so much documentation available to help you out whenever you encounter any issues.

Cons

I don't have much that I don't like about Unreal Engine 4, but my complaint would be that sometimes Blueprints is almost too robust and it's difficult to figure out the most optimal way to script something.

### "Powerful game making engine for large projects."

September 14, 2018

5.0

Pros

I love games and I am a PC gamer. I played lot of games that run on unreal engine.Because I want high quality games and I play only high quality games. I am using unreal engine 4 for make games and I am still learning about this engine. Not only this engine can make video games, also I made motion videos using this. According to my experience, most thing I like in unreal is, this user-friendly.It has lot of templates to create our project. In other engines, the templates are not user-friendly. If we want templates e want to buy . so that is why I said this very user-friendly. This engine also can buy templates but engine has different kind of templates.

Cons

There is a problem in this engine. this engine has advance tools. for a new user, he/she can't understand without any help. And the other one is "the language". I thing C++ is difficult language.

### "Unreal Unreal Engine"

December 17, 2018

5.0

Pros

Easy to learn, and use with basic knowledge of C++ programming. Vast amount of applicable libraries, and modules which can make your experience using this game engine Unreal ;)

Cons

Probably no cons. At least if you have some knowledge of programming, but even if you don't Epic Games has pretty decent learning system, which allows you to study almost every aspect of work with this engine.

### "Best Game Engine for HD Game Development"

November 9, 2020

5.0

I am still learning to use the Unreal Engine, in my opinion the features are very complete.

Pros

What I like about the Unreal Engine is that it provides very complete features in making HD games. The blueprint feature is also very helpful for new developers who are more interested in drag and drop programming languages.

Cons

Too heavy and UI too hard to understand. But the Unreal Engine is intended for already reliable game studios. Not suitable for new developers who are still in the learning stage of game development.

### "Worked on a developer project with a buddy for a game and this is what we used. Unreal engine 4"

July 18, 2018

4.0

Pretty good, can't really complain at all. Does exactly what I need.

Pros

Pretty easy to use, even the advanced feature set is pretty easy to navigate. you can get a good bit done pretty quickly with Unreal

Cons

There are limitations but that goes with any development engines like these. you have to decide what your game is going to need and choose from there.

### "The most comprehensive industry standard tool that will help you create stunning games and movies"

December 4, 2019

5.0

Unreal has been a joy to work when it comes to creating beautiful cinematic shots, all in real time!

Pros

Unreal engine being free for everyone across the world allows everyone to develop and makes games or produce beautiful film shots in real time. The new ray-tracing feature also makes any environment look incredibly realistic and stunning. This software really lives up to it's name afterall!

Cons

Nothing Con about this one, it's free for everyone to try and helps artists make anything they can imagine in ways not possible before.

### "Powerful game engine"

October 29, 2019

5.0

I have created a shooter game and its development was quick by following the first step guides from the internet; I haven't continued using it for more projects yet because of the learning curve.

Pros

It has already some ways for handling a lot of stuff to make a great game talking about graphics, all the shaders necessary to create a good visuals game are already there so you don't have to worry for these (talking about simple projects, because it can be worked as much as you need). This is the perfect way for creating an FPS game, it is already setup for creating one. Blueprints can be really useful for not so complex projects.

Cons

Programming language is a matter of getting used to, but probably C++ can be difficult if you never used it before and you are used to a different language, so this makes the learning curve a bit hard. The store for this engine is poor compared to other engines.

### "Very suitable for realistic games"

April 2, 2020

5.0

The most viable option for creating 3D games, especially realistic ones.

Pros

This game engine allows good organization for all art and programming elements. It has many useful tools to make realistic games in a faster way comparing to other game engines.

Cons

The software is too big to download. There are also a huge number of updates.

### "Unreal Engine is Unreal"

October 3, 2018

4.0

Overall, as an inspiring game developer and student I found my unreal engine experience pleasant and will use it for learning purposes in the future.

Pros

I really enjoyed the way Unreal engine looks out of the box. Graphically, it's extremely pleasing. Their education program makes it easy for new students to get involved with their software.

Cons

Blueprint scripting introduced with Unreal Engine takes some getting use to. The transition from Unity to Unreal engine can take some time to get adjusted.

### "The industry standard in 3D gaming, and you can start from basically free"

November 22, 2023

5.0

Unreal Engine is just the best game engine out there. You can create from little 2D indie games up to Hollywood scale CG. You can start for literally free and there's tons of learning materials and easy to access resources, ready to be used. Also the community (and help) is really huge so you'll rarely get stuck in a project. The only downside I can find are the system requirements, it requires really beefy high-end hardware even for the smallest projects, otherwise it will crawl.

Pros

Zero cost for small beginner projects. Very complete yet Intuitive interface. Not-so-steep learning curve. Code-free programming that is very accessible and powerful. Huge community. High availability of resources and learning tools.

Cons

Needs powerful hardware, even for small projects.

### "Unreal Engine is a video game based, creation engine with a variety of options"

August 1, 2018

5.0

Pros

Unreal Engine allows an easy ability to import files, models, and you name it into a current project and modify them to your liking. There's a huge amount of tools to work with to edit your projects. You can create anything your mind thinks of, and then some. The ball is always in your hands for it

Cons

There's a steep learning curve if you haven't used like software before, and there's also a number of similar products out there. Unreal Engine is a solid choice that offers a lot, but may

### "Unreal stacks up nicely"

October 16, 2019

5.0

Just like any software, until you learn and understand it it will be challenging. When you do understand it, naturally you do harder things, which will also be challenging.

Pros

I really enjoy the blueprints feature which enables a form of visual scripting to take place as opposed to handwriting code it is more of a drag and drop.

Cons

The learning curve of C++ is not ideal and the fact that it only accepts this language is a bit of a bummer. Not a problem once you hunker down and learn however.

### "Hard to learn, but it is great for the perfectly tuned aesthetic for your game."

September 29, 2018

5.0

Pros

The thing I like most about this software is how the materials for models and shaders are completely and easily customizable. I'm still learning this software, and I'm still learning how to do materials and shaders, but compared to a lot of other free game engines out there, this one takes the cake on graphics, and how easily you can create your perfect-looking game.

Cons

The thing I like least is probably the thing of how long it takes to learn and how little information there is out there on this software. There is a whole wiki which has helped me, but as far as user forums go where people run into problems and other people help solve them, there is little activity on those forums, so when I have an issue that the wiki can't solve, it takes a while for me to solve it on my own.

### "An awesome suite of tools that gives game developers freedom to create beautiful games."

July 26, 2018

4.0

Pros

I would easily rate the Unreal Engine as one of the most user-centered programs on the market. Standard templates will really get you up and going.

Cons

It definitely takes up alot more space than some other programs, 18GB's. Also does not include Visual C++ 2017 within the installation.
