My overall experience has been positive. It has significantly streamlined our prospecting workflow. While you have to stay organized with your credits to maximize value, the quality and volume of the contact data make it a foundational tool for our sales team.

Pros

I like that Apollo.io scrapes data and identifies potential leads incredibly efficient across multiple databases. Which is extremely useful when you are looking for a prospects and using the filter options which really helps in building a targeted list for outbound campaigns.

Cons

Apollo.io uses a credit-based system can be a bit tricky to manage at first. You have to be careful with how you spend credits, especially on premium data like mobile numbers, so it requires some planning to ensure you don't run out before the end of the month.

Great tool, super helpful to get data on leads/prospects & the free use is amazing for any startups or side hustles.

Pros

Great for getting contact data and managing leads in general. It has always been super useful especially the fact that it gives you emails for free.

Cons

The extension and problems with its data continuity, it was not complaint at some popint and it kind of reduced the platforms efficiency.

Overall I love using Apollo as a search enging however they need to work on their credits for contacts model

Pros

I like that I can search for companies and specific roles and titles. This feature makes it more efficient for me to find contacts with the exact rolls I am looking for across different companies without having to visit each company's LinkedIn page individually.

Cons

Their data is somewhat old now compared to a few years back, so they need to improve on the data accuracy of the numbers that they provide for the contacts.

I chose Apollo as my main \*\*contact data source\*\* after comparing it with ZoomInfo, Hunter.io, RocketReach, and Seamless. For my startup use case, it gives the best tradeoff between database quality, coverage, and cost. I still verify key contacts separately, but Apollo is the tool I decided to keep using regularly.

Pros

Apollo.io has been the best balance of database quality and price for my outbound work. I compared it with ZoomInfo, RocketReach, Seamless, and Hunter.io, and Apollo gave me enough reliable company and contact data without the enterprise-level pricing of ZoomInfo.

Cons

The data is not perfect, so I still need to verify important contacts and sometimes compare Apollo with other sources. Some emails can bounce or be missing, and the interface can feel a little busy when I only need quick validation. For high-value accounts, I would not use Apollo as the only source of truth.

Apollo.i has enabled the distributions of messages for our targeted marketing campaigns. The Apollo.io workflows enable the automated nurturing of leads and the ability to track companies and individuals engaging with content and the corporate website enables lead scoring.

Pros

The ability to define ideal customer profiles based on metrics (company size, company revenue, geographic location, industry) and quickly create targeted campaigns and workflows.

Cons

The platform is extremely powerful and there is a slight learning curve to understand the dependencies and requirement to setup workflows and campaigns. However, this is a one-time ramp up challenge that is quickly overcome.

My experience was very bad with Apollo as they came up with a new credit usage system but didn't pass the benefits to us as we were billing annually. Moreover, they charge exorbitant credits for API calls and don't even try to not charge for duplicate data.

Pros

The platform is really great, very easy to navigate and user friendly. Finding data is easy and anyone, literally anyone, can do it.

Cons

The data quality is not that great and somehow they still haven't been able to decide the pricing and credits usage. It's very frustrating to see them change credits usage so often and they don't pass on the benefits of new features and changes to users who have billed annually.

Pros

Accuracy of the available database with complete details from email ID, phone number, geography, and designation.

Cons

Nothing much, sometimes the Apollo LinkedIn plugin behaves a little weird. Rest is definitely one of the most affordable database tools I have used after ZoomInfo.

Apollo occasionally struggles with poor data hygiene, and although there are plenty of 3rd party data sources you can incorporate into your Apollo instance to use credits to "waterfall" through these sources to find prospect or company data. The issue however is this data is often incorrect when compared to publicly and easily accessible data. For example, between 5-10% of listed titles will be wrong compared to the prospects listed title on Linkedin, with no way to automatically update based on that information.

I find it better than Zoominfo, I like it much better because there is a single user experience and an affordable pathway to upgrading. The bells and whistles on Apollo seem to have more integrity than Zoominfo. Zoominfo is living mostly off the legacy of being the only game in town when that is a thing of the past now with tools like Apollo.

Pros

I liked that they had a single user offering that still had substantive tools that allowed you to have effective prospecting without spending thousands. The limitations that are there are clearly and rightly so created to make you upgrade.

Cons

That gap of what you get as a basic user and where that ends leaves a inconclusiveness to your work and outreach. I also find that the data seems around 65% accurate. They require certain connections in trade for the basic user offerings. Cleary those connections only enhance their data pool.

Absolutely amazing! At first I was getting frustrated with the software but once I dedicated some time to learn it I was able to unlock it's potential and now it is a seriously vital tool for us. And their support is one of the best I've ever experienced from a company.

Pros

Once I figured out really how to use Apollo it has become the key to setting meetings for my business. I've spent thousands of dollars and literally years trying other methods of lead gen and while other things have worked, nothing has worked quite as well as Apollo. The 2 biggest things I love about Apollo are 1. The search filter capabilities are amazing and they keep adding to it! It is so incredibly powerful I canceled my LinkedIn Sales Nav subscription because Apollo just blew LinkedIn out of the water for me. 2. The email sequencing functions are amazing and really help take a huge chunk of work off of my plate. I HIGHLY recommend Apollo. It is so far beyond better value and I think more capable than any other similar platform.

Cons

The 2 biggest drawbacks for me are the email tracking glitches and the learning curve. I'll explain, Email tracking is very detailed and I love the data they give you but on my account its only 50-70% accurate. If someone is using something like Mac Mail it doesn't track opens or replies so I thought I was getting poor rates until I dug into it further and confirmed with a different platform. HOWEVER, I've told Apollo about this and they have been amazing to try and fix it. Still working on it but Im honestly confident they will and this could just be for my account. It hasnt impacted my results in my campaigns either which is important to note. The other thing was the learning curve. This software is quite powerful and has a ton of features and I feel at first the way its set up was very confusing and hard to learn. However, once I dedicated some time to trying it out it really all clicked. And again, Apollo customer support has been amazing in helping me learn the software.

Price was a big factor but also the search capabilities in the platform. The way you can search leads AND email them with the different sequences AND get real data back I couldn't find a comparable software that was anywhere near this reasonable of a price.

It's great that Apollo.io offers services that enable us to find the path to real potential customers. I loved its ability to collect customer data that matches the search topic from all sources. I loved its presentation style, where names and contact information are always clear. It's great that we benefit from this in creating distinctive contact lists that enable us to achieve the desired targeting. I loved how Apollo.io excludes fake entities from search results.

Cons

Apollo.io has no negatives, the information it collects reflects the latest updates from all platforms. It is rare for entities that are not related to the search topic to appear in the results.

I fully understand the possibility of invalid contact information appearing in search results, which is no fault of Apollo.io.

I love this product and would highly recommend it to anyone with a small sales team and limited budget. It gives you what the big data providers like discover.org and zoominfo provide at a very reasonable rate. The tools and features it offers are exactly what a small team can use and build on. I am sure there is a lot more to this product that I am still learning. But in 35+ years of sales back ground, I wish Apollo would have been around years ago.

Pros

Apollo provides a large database of information on companies and their people. You are given external links to other systems like LinkedIN for cross referencing data. You have the ability to segment this data by region, market, number of employees, etc. etc. One you have created a prospect list you can begin working that list through a direct email campaign. I use the sequence to turn cold leads into hot leads by generating some responses. These responses in turn usually contain valuable information like direct numbers so I can follow-up with phone calls. Once I begin working with an account, I can move them into another sequence giving them access to valuable information bout my company along with updated information on products we are building and releasing. It helps to keep us in the front of their minds. And remember setting all this up is a one time thing and then you just let Apollo do all the work.

Cons

My only complaint regarding Apollo is not always being able to log directly into the system. Sometimes I have to reset my password to log in, but those steps are easy and happen quickly so not down for long.

Reason for choosing Apollo.io

Our only marketing strategy was to blindly email addresses from business cards using Constant Contact. It was not working and frankly it was corrupting our data.

I think it's a revolutionary software for the sales industry and I'm very happy to have found it.

Pros

There's so much information that Apollo finds for you automatically. It saves you a lot of time and automates a lot of processes. Not only does it let you use laser-focus targeting to find companies that are most likely to buy what you want to sell, but it also finds people with different job titles in each organization and lets you automate sending DIFFERENT EMAILS to DIFFERENT PEOPLE based on their job title and different characteristics of the organizations that they work for, and it allows you to make each of those emails very personalized. It takes automated personalization to a whole new level.

Cons

It doesn't let you set the gap between sending different emails to more than 90 seconds, which I really lack. It also has a lot of bugs and inconsistencies in the lead search, some of which I already described in this review, and I've also encountered and reported multiple UI bugs.

In general, Apollo is a very convincent tool, I'm about to cancel the other tools I used to pay and I'm considering just keep using Apollo.

Pros

I started to use it because of the contact lists that you can download in Excel format that's a very cool feature you can't find in other tools and then I discovered is a fusion of many functions, for example, for email campaigns or for leading prospect. Is a very complete platform.

Cons

Is difficult to learn how to use it, you need a lot of practice and you can't find many help in internet like tutorials, so you have to learn by yourself.

Using Apollo has let me streamline my lead generation activities. Using the same software for both lead generation and outreach makes things smooth.

Pros

It was easy to find contacts in the database based on revenue, employee number, tool stack, and so on. You can easily add them to the campaign you've set up.

Cons

Adding leads to your list is handled in a very slow manner. You have to add them 25 at a time. And this is at every tier except the enterprise level.
