Pros Easy drag-drop and play! We use this from time to time to make informational content, video installation, and drip marketing materials for customers. Hundreds of templates to choose from, applicable to almost every platform we use. Cons Can be time-consuming if you don't have edited material to upload into this software, blocking out sound adding audio, etc. Alternatives considered [Magisto](https://www.capterra.com/p/173381/Magisto/) Reason for choosing Animoto I actually use both but for different purposes, animoto is more detailed and involved. March 28, 2025 5.0 It's been the best! The customer service is amazing. The people are so helpful and it's very personal service. I never feel like a number! There is always someone to help you, whether it's IT, accounts etc Pros The ease of use is the best thing about Animoto with the ready to roll templates and the variety of styles to choose from! The end product is so prefessional looking! Cons I prefer the old system where you just load all the photos in and can switch between styles. One other thing is that if you click off "Hide Animoto", it still shows animoto when you post to Facebook etc, so I have to download and upload. There is no way to speak to a person about issues and if it is a live person texting responses to questions, they are not trained. I would never recommend this company. Pros It was easy to learn, offers decent templates and easy to create your own. Unfortunately, the system has a flaw that can't seem to be rectified. Cons Some of my videos download with the wrong landing page and instead pulls one of the first few pages of the video. I have no idea why this happens about 25% of the time but can't get an answer from Animoto. Awful customer service. Pretty sure it's only AI. A powerful tool but it certainly needs to add more features. Pros It is very user friendly. Almost anyone can create amazing video content with it. The large template library makes it even easier for users. Creating videos takes a very little time and adding effects, transitions and text overlay is relatively very simple. Cons The templates can sometimes be very restrictive. If a user has a proper idea about how the video should be then it is not for him. Cons I love that there are templates to use, but I find them sometimes restricting. I also wish we could control the amount of time in each slide. Pros Animoto provides an easy to use platform to upload your videos and edit them together using various templates they have. The platform is very user-friendly and they have a decent amount of templates and animations to choose from. Cons The overall app seems a bit expensive for what you get. The templates themselves appear very dated and there isn't a ton of flexibility with the templates. You kind of get what you see. I wasn't very impressed when comparing this to other tools like Promo.com Switched from [Promo.com](https://www.capterra.com/p/223748/Promocom/) Promo.com is much more modern and has more options when it comes to adjusting animations, fonts, and templates you can choose from. Animoto is highly accessible and would be a great video development tool for people with limited video/design experience, or people with limited time. My team uses Animoto to create product/campaign launch videos for clients, as well as promotional videos for our own services. If you have a handful of images or video clips ready to go, you can create a short compelling video in as little as twenty minutes! Cons Customization of video templates is pretty limited (in terms of style, speed, layout, amount of content per slide, fonts, etc.). Templates are still great considering the ease of use and low cost. Sometimes it's challenging to fit a full thought onto a slide due to the limited number of characters Animoto allows in a line of text... but that's probably a good thing to keep videos from becoming text-heavy. July 16, 2018 5.0 I use this software to promote the schools and school programs in our school district. Pros The quality of the videos are incredible. Everything is drag and drop, so adding videos and photos to a project is easy. There are music tracks to choose from, and you can also upload your own. Captions and titles can be easily added. There are quite a few templates to choose from, and I am usually able to find one that matches the theme and mood of the video I'd like to create. Cons I pay for the personal plan so I can download my videos in 720p. It is disappointing sometimes to see the templates that are not available to me because I am using a lower price paid plan. The animoto logo is still attached to the end of every video, even though I am a paid user. Usually that is reserved for the free plans, so it's very clear that animoto sees their personal plan is the no frills plan. Pros Compile my clients event photos into a quick 3-4 minute video segment that I can send to them after they pay their final invoice. Cons I do not like the new pricing structures within the past couple years. It used to be a non-tiered plan and now it has three tiers with the lowest tier only offering 720 video, which is kind of a deal breaker for most. The next step up is nearly six times the cost of the lowest tier, which makes it not the most affordable for those that don't create more than a video a week. Reason for choosing Animoto I originally chose it over the other options because of the simple pricing model, but I am now looking for other options since there is no in between tier. I don't feel the value is worth it but also, the ability to quickly throw something together is nce. Pros The quick ability to add images, text, and deliver a final production. The full, high resolution production as well as other size availabilities. Cons It's incredibly expensive for a monthly plan and then the options in the templates do not allow for customization. Some of the templates are corny or old fashion and the ones that are not overly plain. Some do not allow for image adjustments from portrait to landscape. Overall, it could be revised with template options for the cost. This completely changed the way we do our digital marketing. Extremely easy to use, greate templates, and awesome videos! If you are wanting to have a lot of control on how your videos look, this might not be for you. If you are trying to get a nice video done that looks like it took you an hour, this is for you! Cons Sometimes photos will look blurry and some slides will look glitchy, even after looking over the quality of the photos. The movement and music options really give it that "professional" look without having to be a professional video editor. Being able to add your brand logo and text is great. We create a lot of videos for our social media campaigns and with the help of animoto the process is super simple and fast. Lots of fonts, music/soundtracks, colors, styling etc are the major points that keeps us on the platform. Cons No cons as such, but they put a very big watermark even during the trail period.
