After spending a bit of time focusing on how I wanted my account to work for me, I was set. I use a lot of tech platforms and unlike some others, I LOVE working and being in ClickUp on a daily basis. Oh and the mobile app is equally amazing! So no scarficing of functionality or UI there either. : ) Pros On the surface, the user interface is stunning and intuitive. Functionality-wise, there isn't much ClickUp can't do when it comes to task and project management. It was important to me to find a system that would allow for not just task management but also priority management and so much more. Cons In a small way, ClickUp was almost a bit robust for what I was in need of. So it took me a bit to wrap my head around how I wanted to set up & organize my account as I'm more focused on overall task management, rather than top-level project management. Pros I love how the platform is very easy to tailor to your needs, and you can make use of many power user features that come handy for assigning tasks, my personal favorite being how you can make subtasks and nest checks in checklists Cons I find the platform lacks polish in many places, can be laggy at times and has a steep learning curve for new users. Some poeple still struggle to figure out trello, this is even moreso complicated. I believe that having only one thing in mind at a time is the key to productivity. I can do that using ClickUp by putting anything that comes up to my mind into ClickUp and forget about it. I check ClickUp several times a day and I have a view that shows items that I have recently updated, showing the earlier task I have put in somewhere near the top. That allows me to revisit those stuff and work on it. I use description section of a task to write up a summary of my plan, and the current status. I use comments section for putting any updates related to that task. That's so useful for me when I need to switch between tasks. When I finish up something else and start working on a task again, I can quickly catch up on what I have been working on it so far. By reading them, you'd be surprised how easy you forget about things and those comments would look like someone else wrote. Great thing is that now you have those comments to help you revive your memory and start working on it again without much of down time. Pros I love that I can easily divide a task into subtasks, link tasks that one depends on or blocks, with keyboard shortcuts. I also love that I can setup several views with custom search criteria. It lets me skim through the items that I'm most interested at that point of time. Cons It doesn't offer offline access, and that makes it much less useful when I'm in subway, where I have nothing productive to do other than to manage my schedule. It seems like ClickUp is always implementing the newest changes right when we need them. Pros ClickUp is flexible enough to allow us to manage whatever we need to manage without building a custom system. We needed API support that would allow us to integrate with existing systems and ClickUp gave us everything we needed to do that. Cons We had a few false starts with figuring out how to best use the system because it is so flexible. Once we landing on the method that worked best for us we have been moving along smoothly. We are completely satisfied with ClickUp and we really like the regular updates. They have excellent support, which helps very quickly even with the most unusual questions. At the moment, developers are constantly improving the software and fixing bugs. It is possible that someone may get lost in a huge number of different features at the start of using ClickUp. Also, the ability to allow others to edit or share information with each other is the best I've seen so far. Pros What I like most about this software is that once you learn how to setup tasks, it becomes easy to plan projects and set goals. Also, the ability to allow others to share or edit documents is a breeze. Cons There really isn't much I dislike about the software but if I had to say it would be the notifications you get. Pros I used ClickUp for a particular project that's related to web development, designing and content publishing. Though the team was small and of only 4 members but we chose to work in an organized way. ClickUp made our task management easier but compared to the size of the team using the tool was a hassle for us. Cons Click is pretty good for the large teams but not suitable for small teams and projects. In addition, if the work is pretty specific such as just content writing ClickUp may not be the perfect solution. You can really tell their aim is to provide the best product possible. Pros I've tried them all and nothing out there worked in a way that I could get super detailed and dialed in when needed, focusing on only what I need to see right now, but also lets me see a "zoomed out view" of everything going on simultaneously. I love how flexible the platform is to let everyone work in the way that works best for them. Pros What I like the most about this software is the Chrome extension to capture notes, websites, and images. The second thing I like the tool is the Gmail extension Cons It can get complicated real quick. The downside of this software is that it has too many tabs and folders all in a small space which makes it confusing at times. I think the reporting function is awesome, and I like that it has widgets for time calculations. Cons This software is horrendously hard to navigate. I would create templates, and then when I'd come back to look at my templates to make edits, I could not locate where they were, so I ended up making brand new templates just to edit small parts of existing templates. The docs are a cool idea, but nothing I ever tried to embed to them would stay there. I would come back later and anything I had added to them would be gone. I also think you need to be much more clear when you say how many users/admins/guests/watchers/etc. by defining clearly what each one of those things mean. I signed up thinking I would be able to share the software with one other person as an admin, but that was not the case. So now I'm paying for more than I'd intended when I purchased the product. The only reason I didn't stop using it right then, is because frankly I had spent so much time trying trying to navigate the software to create the space; I didn't want to just scrap all the effort I had put into it. I think it's important to also realize that some of your audience for this software aren't frequent users of twilio, slack, and some of the other project management softwares, and may not understand a lot of that jargon. So a simpler instruction style would be helpful. Also, most of the beginning tutorials are videos, and I don't always have time to sit and watch 10-12 videos about how to do something. It would be nice to have written instructions that are more easily accessible as an alternative. February 28, 2021 5.0 Compared to some of the competitors, for me ClickUp impresses the most through it's proclaimed ability to do everything you could want to do, without the need of external apps. It is graphically very appealing - which really is a big deal when trying to be very clear on assigning important tasks to a big group of people. I definitely would recommend this app to everyone, that needs to exchange on a project with a variety of people from different subjects. Pros ClickUp is not only one of the prettiest looking apps out there, it also brings a ton of useful tools for meaningful structuring bigger group projects. I personally only recommend it for either big groups, or long-term projects, because it takes some time to get used to the sheer variety of functions you have for sorting, deadlining, assigning, interchanging and describing different tasks. Cons For small-teams or irregular usage the variety of options can be very overwhelming. Though - this i not really a con, but more of a warning! Review Source SS Sara S. We switched to ClickUp after using JIRA, Trello, and Asana and have loved the switch. Having nested projects under clients would have been impossible in other software. My team also loves that they can view their tasks in a board format or list (my preference). As a CEO it's been great to get an accurate snapshot into my team and it's effectiveness with a well-designed tool. Pros The ability to ask for your own price during the beta is a super sweet touch. The tags, customization, and ability to take project notes all in one place has also been amazing. Cons Burndown charts are the next thing we need from ClickUp. We've had a couple of issues setting this up in beta, but are hopeful that it will solve our needs when it's ready. It would also be great to have APIs to hook integrations into so that we can pull data from Clockify (our time tracker) into each of these tasks.
