LibreOffice is a free alternative to Microsoft Office, and it's a good choice

Pros: LibreOffice opens Microsoft docs easily, and has all of the features that you'd expect from spreadsheets, word processing, presentations, and more. It's a great thing to try before you buy Office, because it might be what you need.

Cons: Integrations with other softwares generally don't work - this would be emailing from within an app, or some other interface. Mail merges don't translate well between Microsoft Word and LibreOffice's word processor. Formatting, of course, is also off. Whenever you open a Microsoft document, you do need to go through the formatting more often than not.

Probably the best alternative to MS Office

Pros: What works best for LibreOffice is that is free . It can do most of the things it's more famous competitor can do ,while also supporting Microsoft files. Easy to install and run .

Cons: I think the biggest con is that it will always be defined by how it compares to the Microsoft products .They don't do themselves any favors on that front by also having an almost identical design to MS .
Also if your spreadsheets require a lot of formulas and whatnot ,you should probably stick to Excel .

Pros: I am an Ubuntu user, a there is no better alternative for word processors other than LibreOffice. and the best part is it's free. Mostly it covers all the basic functions for word processing, also support advanced functions.

Cons: UI(User Interface) of LibreOffice is a bit dim as compare to its competitors such as Microsoft Office. I have used Excel sheets in both Microsoft as well as Libre and I have to say Microsoft is much better.

Pros: Its free. No other alternative at least without an internet connection (Google Docs). Not as great as the actual office product as the features are not up there with it. However, its free and has everything you need for just writing papers.

Cons: Not much as its a free collaborative project people made to offer tools to have as alternative to microsoft office.

Pros: Free and Fully functional package in itself , also available for windows , mac and Linux machines.
Easy to install, lightweight and supports MS office formats.
Excellent choice for start ups and personal projects as their is no need to pay anything.

Cons: Some issues in opening Libre writer doc files in MS word, there might be some formatting issues.
UI is confusing for new user who is migrated from MS Office to LibreOffice , also UI feels bit outdated.

Overall: I use it for most of my work related to documents , spreadsheets management.
Also plus point for me is it is free and easily available for downloading .

Pros: I enjoy the fact that I can open and edit any style of documents. From MS Office Documents, Adobe and more.

Cons: The least thing I liked about the software is the price. I found it to be a little too pricey. There are other Apps that offer a similar platform at a cheaper price.

Pros: LibreOffice pretty much allows me to do anything that I could possibly want to do in a similar suite (like Microsoft Office, or iLife), but without the necessity of paying for a full suite. It integrates almost seamlessly with most other Office products, so I never have to worry about file compatibility or anything of the sort. It runs smoothly, and rarely crashes--usually only if I'm asking it to do a lot of work all at once, and even that might be more due to my computer's capabilities than the capability of the software.

Cons: There are some key features that it seems to be missing, especially when it comes to Calc, and it slows down a lot when making a big ask. It can take some time to boot up, as well, but once it is up and running it works well. It occasionally has trouble parsing alternate file types and loading them with formatting intact, but never seems to have an issue with exporting to various file types.

Pros: LibreOffice offers a free full suite for office documents. The interface is more like the traditional one with toolbars and icons. Its open source and able to edit any MS Office documents. Its a great option for personal projects and small businesses that don't want to pay high prices on licences.

Cons: The interface needs improvement. It did the work I needed for a personal project so I don't have much to complaint about it.

Can open and edit Microsoft Office documents

Cons: Some documents created on Microsoft Office will mess styling and format, the user interface feels kind of old though that it's just a matter of taste since doesn't affect the functionality

Overall: Since it's free and open source you can download oit and install it on any windows or linux computer, very easy to learn and you can save the documents on MS office format to share with other people that use that suite

Pros: This software suite feels almost like you are stealing from someone. It is every bit as good as Microsoft Office but it is free. What is not to love.

Pros:
- You have everything you need in an office suite for spreadsheets, presentation, and word processing.
- There apps are regularly updated and in good working order
- It is FREE!

Cons: The only downside I see to Libre office is it feels a little dated. Almost like you are using an office suite from a couple of years ago. So you don't always feel you are on the cutting edge of software. This could be a determining factor for some but if you need a free office suite it is a sacrifice you will have to make.

Pros: - Free (as in free beer and as in free software).
- Powerful: it is a long time since we need a feature that it does not have, even features from MS Office.
- Extensible: very easy to script and to create addons.
- Versatile: its server mode and its APIs make it really powerful for companies, a microservice on its own.

Cons: - Confusing and outdated interface, especially if you have to deal with configurations.
- Very resource-intensive.

Overall: While I'm impressed by MS Office elegance and Google alternatives, LibreOffice is a really powerful tool and I'd rather recommend using it as a first option.

Pros: During college, LibreOffice saved my life. I didn't have Microsoft Word, and didn't want to pay just for a piece of software. It's free and it's a very competent word processor.

Cons: Now that Google Docs exists, LibreOffice is becoming less relevant. While Google Docs is taking the best of Microsoft Word and making it easier, LibreOffice is taking the best/worst of Microsoft Word, and making it more confusing.

Overall: If you need a word processor and don't like Google Docs or Microsoft Word, LibreOffice is a fine alternative. It compares favorably to both of them.

Pros: The software is multiplatform, it can be adapted to my needs, it is free, the office suite changed considerably; this can now perform a series of tasks that previously could not; one of them was to rotate an image inside the document, look for an element now has a drop-down list, they included new numbering styles giving the user many more options to choose, the styles of the tables are more beautiful, you can build tables and get graphics in a very fast way. One of its great advances is that now the autocorrection dictionary allows to create and modify the language depending on the country where the user is, the graphic environment of the help in much more pleasant, they changed the icons for some more beautiful and practical; now, a document can have a security key.

Cons: The documents are saved by default with the extension of .odt which can not be read with the Windows operating system, there are very few people to provide support, the programs take a long time to open, you must add more fonts.

Overall: The company saves a lot of money because you do not have to buy a license; after the improvements it is a totally more usable tool for the requirements of the organization

Pros: I like it because it is much faster than its Microsoft counterpart, which is used in windows-based operating system. It has the same excel tools and the best thing is that you can use it both in windows and in linux.

Cons: I do not like that the files are usually not compatible with excel, unless you save it in a compatibility format. where they can convert it into another operating system. Apart from this, you have to be aware when you copy information from one format to another because the information may not match.

Overall: I can work on any computer regardless of the operating system I have, since I can convert the formats later.

Pros: Apart from the fact that it is free to download and use, the wide range of file formats enable interoperability between office suites and operating systems (Windows, Linux etc.) Also the ability to use a portable version (which can be installed on a USB Flash Drive etc.) There is a cloud based version too which will complete with MS Office 365

Cons: The interface is a bit dated (though it has improved with V6.) and it would be nice to see some kind of Ribbon a la MS Office. A wider range of templates could be installed by default.

Pros: I like it because it is lighter and works more easily on computers with low power in its processor, as well as it allows me to configure some options more easily when I work with documents downloaded from some automated pages. I also like that I can store the documents in different formats, even if they are compatible with their Microsoft counterpart.

Cons: Among the things that I do not like, are that when I set up a file in libreoffice and then I open it with Microsoft Office normally the configuration is not the same, for example paper sizes, margins, location of images and things like that.

Overall: It has allowed me to recover files that apparently had been damaged using Microsoft Office, as well as some types of files that are not compatible with its aforementioned counterpart I can open and save them in formats that are compatible with both.

Pros: That's the good thing about free software, that you can find packages like Libre Office with a lot of potential and completely free. If your computer does not have large resources, or you can not pay a private license, this software is for you, you have the whole package. If you have knowledge in traditional office automation, you will not have any problems.

Cons: The interface could be more attractive, I know they have devoted a lot, and it is not fair to describe something wrong with this computer proposal, but I want it to improve because it offers everything without a large payment except a donation. If they make those small changes they could attract more users who stop using private office automation. Another aspect that I recommend to change, is the language, if a person wishes to use Libre Office in Spanish he must install an additional pack, for that reason, it is preferable to do a multi-language installation, and that the user with few clicks decides the language of his preference.

Overall: You save money, a similar proprietary software can cost you more than per license, but LibreOffice can be your office computer support just by downloading the program. You can use it on computers with few resources, which allows you to avoid investing more resources in a hardware. Another benefit is the number of formats that you can read and export, you can go from a pdf to a .doc, it adapts very well to the price and function ratio. I have no major complaints.

Cons: It could have a nicer user interface and better compatibility. It's usual to have bugs and crashes while using it.

Cons: Some of the features of Office arent there but this isnt an issue because it is free. The software works very well for what it is.

Pros: Open Source free office package. Great for personal use in a pinch when you don't want to purchase the full Microsoft office package or pay a subscription. You can save your files as word documents when your finished so you can share with others who most likely use Microsoft's products.

Cons: LibreOffice lacks extensive formatting. Also, has the tendency to crash often, so it's fine for personal use. I would not recommend for business use.

Overall: Alternative free office product.

Pros: Great option if you don't want to pay for the MS Suite.
Easy to use, clear and nice interface, all the functions you need to work efficiently.
And it's free!

Cons: Some issues with the top bar when in Mac OS native full screen (black bar at the top).
The scrolling is never really smooth and sometimes the sentences/words are slightly offline from one to another (it doesn't affect the final file though).
Slightly less powerful then the MS version but still a great app.

Pros: It allowed me to adapt to the new demands of world order which aim to not use proprietary software, I use it to create simple text files and also for database elements, which respond very well in the systems under which I work. On the other hand, I did not have to pay to install it on my PC or on my laptop. The results are compatible with other programs and do not generate conflict.

Cons: I do not like the color palette that is presented, you have to give too many laps to achieve some formulas, such as filtering or Search v. It cost me the initial learning due to the number of steps for the configuration.

Overall: I do not have to cancel any cost for the use of the tool, it allowed me to update myself in new technologies.

Cons: In the present LibreOffice has improve a lot, nowadays the software has not many mistakes, but in the past it was very unstable and it closed without warning, and some extension work not well because it came with many bugs, but now works fantastically.

Pros: It's free and allows for the same basic functionality as Microsoft Office. My job uses it daily to avoid the cost of of Microsoft Office suite, and I primarily call on Writer.

Cons: This may seem like I'm grasping at straws here (as I mentioned already, LibreOffice Writer is a worthy competitor of Microsoft Office), but I absolutely hate the icon theme. Pros: Libre Office is open source, and it makes for an excellent office suite to open and edit documents locally. Unlike Google Docs, it doesn't autosave, so your drive won't get worn down as fast.

It does its job well.

Cons: It's not terribly modern, but it doesn't look terribly retro. It relies on the generic icons from your desktop environment. (Ex. KDE, Cinnamon, XFCE, etc.) So, it looks alright, but not really modern like if it used its own custom icons the way MS office does.

Aside from needing a slight facelift, it lacks the "shareability" factor that Google Docs has and it lacks the cloud storage aspect.

Pros: Little can be criticised when someone gives you something for free, but I've been using Libreoffice since they segregated from Open Office because it performs outstanding. Development has been slow and graphical interface looks outdated but with time it has become a very robust office package. Even more than other payed solutions. Offidocs has made possible to use it in the cloud with a limited set of features.

Cons: It's a shame that development is slow because it always feels outdated. Not only because of the GUI.
Because of the same reason, compatibility with Microsoft Office is never perfect. I bet MS knows it and change things on purpose.

Pros: I totally forgot about pay expenses licenses to have a work processor and a presentation software in my computer, that day was when I found Libreoffice, I can create and edit documents, and do the same things with the presentations.

Cons: For me works perfect I do not have any complains about Libreoffice, sometimes it crushed or closed, but this a common problem in the free software.

Overall: The best free office desktop.

Pros: -OpenSource
-Ability to work with and export into various file types.
-Robust word
-Parity with MS Office
-Smaller application footprint

Cons: -Sometimes the interface is not the most intuitive.
-Although there is great parity between MS Office and Libre Office there are not many groundbreaking features being developed by the Libre office team.

Overall: The only time I open up MS Office is by mistake. Libre office is and has been my go-to office suite since the day I downloaded it. Very robust and a great, free, opensource replacement for MS Office. Highly reccomended.

Pros: I wrote my bachelor degree thesis with this suite. It offers most of the features of MS Office and it's free-as-in-speech - and beer. If you need to know how something is done you'll easily find an answer on the web, thanks to the community around it. If you never got used to Office's "ribbon" this is definitely the office suite for you. You can export in many formats including pdf, docx, xlsx.

Cons: Compatibility with MS Office formats is limited of course, so you'll better stick with open formats. You'll most probably lose some formatting in docs and functions in spreadsheets. If you got used at MS's ribbon, going back can be quite painful.

Pros: I really like how I can use a document software that doesn't require the internet. This is key for flights and for working at the cabin.

Cons: I don't like the user interface. I think it could be improved to be easier to use if you are new to the software.

Overall: I can use this document software anytime. On the train, car, or at the cabin I can use this!

Pros: This software allows you to do everything you would do with Microsoft office, the big difference is that it is free, you do not have to pay an expensive license to have it. It also allows you to save in MSOffice format. I like that it requires less resources from the computer to run.

Cons: Its interface is very classic, it has not been updated. Also, when it is saved in MSOffice format or vice versa, it does not save the format that I have been working on, but I must have a lot of time to accommodate everything.

Pros: LibreOffice allows me to open .xlsx files and save them as well, without the price tag of the native app for that file type.

It's very stable compared to it's predecessor and even the more commonly used commercial suites, and has a rich feature set too complex to enumerate.

Cons: It seems a little resource heavy, particularly with several files open, and/or large files. Opening the app is also a little slow.

Overall: LibreOffice saved us when our previous office suite ceased to be developed and was suffering serious instability issues. It also allowed us to edit and save .xlsx files, which is something our previous suite couldn't offer, removing the limits on what we could edit without having to ask for an exported/simplified version or resort to spending on purchasing native apps for that extension.

A perfectly functional office suite with no cost.

Pros: What I like most is that free office Impress allows you to export files in SWF (Flash), SVG and EPS, which other programs of this type can not do.

Cons: What I like the least is the interface of the tools in this suite as I think it could be improved in a more friendly and attractive way.

Pros: What most strikes me is that documents are not contaminated with any virus. And since it is a free tool one can make suggestions and / or make modifications, of course you have to know very well the tool to do it.

Cons: There are very few people who know about these tools, and it's hard to get someone to guide you to make any changes.

Overall: I have had the opportunity to learn how to use a free software tool, of course I still have a lot to learn. Especially to make modifications and improvements to the software.

Pros: The fact this full functioning software is totally free is insane. They also are great with customer support and adding new features that the community asks for.

Cons: Not quite as many features as you'd see in paid solutions like Microsoft Office. Slow to implement changes even if they do eventually get around to rolling it out.

Overall: Free office suite for use, great support and great functionality if not 100% comparable to larger scale suites.

Pros: By far, my favorite feature of this software was in the spreadsheet application. There are times I would like to directly edit a .dbf file, which a more common software will let you open, but not save as. LibreOffice came pre-loaded on a linux OS I was trying out, as one of a couple of open-source office software suites, and it lets me open, edit, and save .dbf files directly. This isn't a thing I have to do all the time, but when I do, it saves me several steps, and is one of my two favorite pieces of software for this function.

Cons: It's not the software I learned on, and as such there's a little bit of a learning curve. Also, I have experienced issues with formatting translating over to other software, even when saved in the proper file format.

Overall: Increased functionality for a specific task.

Pros: LibreOffice contains all of the basic office capabilities at no cost and works across platforms (Windows, Linux and Mac OS).
The OpenDocument (ODF) format works with MS Office files and can be exported to PDF.
I use LibreOffice as an alternative to MS Office. Writer is a word processor similar to MS Word and Calc works with spreadsheets, similar to Excel. It also includes Impress, Draw and Base, which are alternatives to PowerPoint, Publisher and Base, respectively.

Cons: LibreOffice doesn't look as good as MS Office and the interface takes some getting used to. The Options menu is especially confusing.
Impress and Draw are pretty limited compared to PowerPoint and Publisher.
Even though a LibreOffice Viewer function is available for Android and iOS, it doesn't offer full capabilities. I use Google Docs, Sheet and Slides on my phone and tablet instead.

Overall: The main office capabilities, free of charge.
I use it both on my Windows and Linux computer.

Pros: We can create product presentation on it and share it with team member. Easy to add notification for meetinga using clander. I like its popup message when someone sent you mail and high impotence message.

Cons: Overall this is very helpful tool to work with other team member but it should support old files which were creared on outlook.

Overall: It helping to overcome gap between different teams as we always touch with each other through it. Best way to send any infomation on problmes.
