Pros: LibreOffice has a complete suite of tools that includes a word processor, a spreadsheet application, tools for drawing and presentation as well as a database manager. The word processor integrates flawlessly with other components of the suite: you can easily enter mathematical formulae, insert tables from a spreadsheet or drawings as multimedia files. It can also export to PDF with great results any kind of document that's opened with it. Apart from PDF, it can also export to various other formats depending on the type of document (including PNG, SVG, HTML, EPUB, etc.). One other clear advantage of LibreOffice is that it is free (as in open source) and uses by default open formats, which makes it easy to use with different software that use the same file extensions. It's also quite lightweight and works even on older systems. Since it works on different operating systems including Windows, MacOS and Linux, it can be used in work environments with machines used for different purposes without any problem. There are many templates and extensions available to customize the experience and the way styles and paragraphs are handled makes more sense than with other alternatives: it is clear what result is obtained and changes are easy to apply to a whole document.

Cons: One has to be careful with the database manager as there are a number of cases of corrupted databases that have been reported. LibreOffice also tries its best to import files that use a format from other popular suites but sometimes, the formatting will not match exactly what is expected, especially with DOCX and XLXS files when special components such as macros are involved. Because it uses Java to be cross-platform, it can feel slower than other alternatives and it doesn't look as well integrated as native applications for that reason. It can be tedious to design flowcharts with LibreOffice Draw because aligning elements between each other and resizing them is not always as intuitive as it could be. Opening PPTX (PowerPoint) presentations with LibreOffice Impress sometimes causes notorious lags and display errors with multimedia files. There are non-obvious workarounds, but this can be an issue when receiving presentations that are designed for other pieces of software.

Overall: Because there is no need to get a license in order to use it, it has been helpful in giving friends and family members who aren't tech-savvy access to this software on their own computer to be able to work freely on their own projects. It has worked really well on all major operating systems and it is a breeze to help out when something is not going as well as planned, since one file will open exactly the same on any machine. There is even a portable version of the suite that makes it possible to execute the software directly from a USB stick, which was also handy more than once. In work settings where there is no budget to install paid software on all machines, LibreOffice really is a lifesaver. Even though it is free, it has all the necessary features to get the job done and that is why it consistently becomes the number one choice to use, especially on Linux systems and in companies with less than ideal budget.

Pros: One of the things I like most about LibreOffice, is that it allows you to use any of its programs just by downloading it, it's great to have free software available for your equipment, whatever your operating system, it's precisely that mobility and adaptability of your platform, which has led her to always include them in the list of programs that I must download once I format the computer. The saving of money is abysmal, you can install as many times as you want in as many teams as you like, and after so many years of constant work of its developers, it is possible to have versions adapted to the languages of your region. There are no limitations to use it, in addition you have everything that private office sells you completely free, you have word processor, calculations, presentations and much more, do not hesitate to use it today.

Cons: For iOS its interface has reached beautiful levels, and little by little they have brought that high quality feeling to their other platforms, that is why I can not negatively qualify any of its components because LibreOffice itself is a true revelation.

Overall: For any entrepreneur, the costs of the programs are usually a limitation, as an independent worker it is vital for me to have advanced programs and high professional skills, in order to offer my clients a quality service, so I have achieved with LibreOffice, find a faithful ally to all the work I must do, from processing reports for a service request, to developing all the presentations that my clients require to know the capabilities of my work, it is thanks to LibreOffice that I have managed to save the money that other commercial options they ask for the same capabilities that I get with LibreOffice, at the cost of a donation to your project if it is to my liking, or I download it and later with the payments of my clients I can finance this wonderful experience.

Pros: - For those who do not know, is the competence of Microsoft Office, open source and I can say with complete certainty that it is very good and can perform almost all the same, if we are casual non-advanced users.

- It is easy to install, intuitive and easy to use, it is multiplatform, it comes in different languages, it has a portable version that can be carried on a pendrive.

- Currently I use the version Version: 5.0.1.2 and although it is free, I do not have the freedom to update it in the pc of my work.

- A great advantage of LibreOffice package tools over your competition, is that I can export to PDF or HTML without installing anything additional, as it is included in your menu.

- It is important to familiarize yourself with the format in which the documents are stored as it can be confusing when sharing with another person, usually sent in .odt or in the case of Cal I send it .ods and if by chance they tell me that they can not open it, because what I do is recommend that you download LibreOffice before converting it.

- You can make tables, insert images, graphics, make macros, bring templates by default for trades, communications, cards, curriculum, all tools are compatible among themselves, from my point of view has greater variety in fonts.

- If you want to start in the world of free software, the first step is to install LibreOffice.

Cons: LibreOffice allows you to open a .doc, an .xls, but it is possible that something will move or something will be unraveled at the design level, the content will be there but something can be distorted.

Cal has its limitations in terms of macros, the number of columns, has few styles of graphics compared to Excel.

The documents in LibreOffice seem to be slower to open.

Pros: LibreOffice is very intuitive because it is based on rather traditional menu structures that make it easy for users to find features. It offers most of the features that MS Word offers, and most of the time implements them in an easier to understand fashion. LibreOffice can import documents from MS Word and does so usually flawlessly.

To avoid compatibility problems with MS Word, I advise using .odt format to create and edit your documents and only convert to .docx when necessary to send a copy to someone who uses MS Word. This will avoid most corruption problems.

LibreOffice is available in portable format. You can run it from a USB flash drive on any computer. This was extremely convenient for me when travelling and doing research- I could use any convenient computer and run my own complement of portable-apps including LibreOffice.

LibreOffice appears to be very efficiently coded- check out the size of the installation code (around 200mb) compared to MS Office 2013 (nearly 800bm).

The Document Foundation, which supports the development of LibreOffice, is dedicated to open standards to avoid proprietary vendor lock-in. The software is free to download and use- this is essential for grad students working on a budget. Open source software helps ensure that people have access to excellent software tools irrespective of their capability to pay.

Cons: Sometimes it cannot import MS Word documents that have special formatting.

It's more difficult to find quick solutions to formatting complex documents. It appears that the majority of professional instructional materials focuses on using MS Word.

Overall: I've used LIbreOffice since its beginning in 2011 and prior to that I used OpenOffice. LibreOffice is, for me, a superior alternative to MS Word as I have no concerns about vendor lock-in.

Pros: LibreOffice forked from OpenOffice in 2010 and has since become the premier open source office suite.

It has many pros:

-- open source license and thus is free. Most importantly, it is created by a community of developers who believe good quality software should be available to everyone, not just those who can afford it. Most of the world's population cannot afford a license of MS Word, nor do they have access to the internet. Open source software ensures that disadvantaged populations have better access to good software. Additionally, the open standards used by LibreOffice ensure that user's data will remain accessible and not locked into a proprietary format from which it cannot be extracted.

- standard menu. LibreOffice has smartly chosen to continue using standard menus rather than "ribbon menus" which many people find confusing because they change based on the task being performed. Few studies have proven that ribbon menus offer any productivity advantage whatsoever.

- easy to use. All of the features of LibreOffice are quite easy to use and plenty of third-party documentation and tutorials exist online.

- rapid development. New versions of LibreOffice are released every six months.

- LibreOffice has plugins for use with Zotero, an open source reference manager. This makes it an indepsensibe tool for university students and researchers.

Cons: - because it is under rapid development, the "FRESH" releases of LibreOffice sometimes crash. The "STABLE" version is, well, more stable, but I've still had it crash or freeze on me, although its unusual and no more often than MS Word crashes.

- While LibreOffice can open and create MS Word documents, sometimes the formatting is not exactly the same.

Pros: Libre Office is free to use on any platform of PC, what I like about Libre Office is that it consist of the 4 major applications that MS Office would charge a fortune in this day in age; Libre Office has word, powerpoint, excel, and Access; In Libre Office the application naming is different they had it at Writer, Calc, Imporess, Base for data base; even though the naming of the application is different compared to MS office or Google Applications, Libre Office has the same features as you would for writing a document, making a powerpoint, creating excel sheets, and developing a database; same features but FREE. Libre Office makes it easy to use and there is no need to learn tutorials on how to use Libre Office because I have seen the same generic icons across other applications. I am using Libre Office in my day to day activities for work purposes as well as to open and view client docs and financials and etc. our systems team has installed Libre Office in our servers so we can easily open and view documents mostly excel docs.

Cons: I have not had any issues using Libre Office

Overall: One of the most important business problems that I have seen my company resolve by using Libre Office is that we are able to utilize Libre Office at the fullest capabilities and resolve customer tickets much faster; because before it was time consuming to copy the file from the server and paste them in my local PC and then open them via excel, but with Libre Office is FREE to use and downloading the application is simple and fast. I would recommend other users who have not used Libre Office to use it before purchasing other competitor Office applications such s MS office which is pricy.

Pros: This document editing app is simply the best i have ever used. i came across this application as an alternative to the mainstream software when i decided to try Linux and since then i have never gone back. The software is lightweight, easy to use, feature rich, a plethora of helpful options and most of all, it is free.

Open source; this software as against the other popular options does not make its users wait a very long time for updates and the regular updates that comes to this software is as a result of how other people with software development knowledge can add features they thought are missing and on and on it goes until the software gets to the very top on the chart of document editing softwares.

Spell check integration; what makes writing fun on the libre office is not only the fonts and the many options that aids productivity but also the spell check integration and the uniqueness of this spell checker is the fact that it is not only limited to the writer app, it can be judiciously used in every of the softwares embedded in the libreoffice suite.

Cross platform support; finding out that libreoffice is not only limited to the linux operating system heightened my interest even more as having it on the windows platform and on macos means i can do away with the paid alternative i had been putting up with for years now.

Cons: is there something i don't like about this software? The answer is no, i love every bit of it as it handles all the task i throw at it as a writer.

Pros: What I love about this software is that it's free and of high quality. It looks and feels like any word processing, slide show presentation or spreadsheet software, including Microsoft's office products. It does everything I want it to do in terms of producing documents, creating presentations and crunching numbers. I can open old files created in other programs relatively easily, and I can save my material as a Microsoft file, which my clients usually prefer.

Cons: The support documentation is lacking, and the support forums often aren't helpful to those of us who are not software programmers and coders. I'm an end-user and need help focused on someone that is simply using the software for everyday office tasks - but often, I cannot figure out how to find that help. Also, saving a file as a Microsoft file often affects the layout - not in a good way. There also seems to be some accessibility issues - I created files for a client who told me this, but she couldn't easily explain what the problem was.

Overall: I'm a consultant with nonprofits and work with clients all over the world, most using Microsoft products. We've been able to work together, sharing files and editing each other's work, very easily. Sharing files is a substantial part of my work, so it's essential I have a reliable tool.

Pros: I"m always using LibreOffice on my desktop, its a suitable and free alternative for Microsoft Office. The things I love about LibreOffice is it ability to use plugins aka extensions that enhances its functionality. There are language and translation extensions, Dictionary extensions, Clip Arts extensions, Templates for calender, formating etc.

LibreOffice also has features which allow the user to export documents in multiple format e.g. PDF and even .doc plus its own format which is .odt LibreOffice also opens documents of other formats such as .doc, .xls. Basically anything from Microsoft Office

The Interface is very similar to that of Microsoft Office so in my opinion there is no learning curve. In fact I remember once working in Calc where I was plugging away and forgot I wasn't using Excel

I can do everything in LibreOffice that I would do in Microsoft Office and more and remember LibreOffice Is free

Through the use of an extension I can save documents in multiple formats

I can save my documents on Google Drive and this is a built in feature

LibreOffice takes much less space on my hard drive than that popular commercial word processing software

Cons: There is nothing about LibreOffice that I dislike

Overall: I use LibreOffice in my business and for personal use, in fact I encourage my friends and family to install and use the program. It does everything MS Office does and more and is easy to use. In my opinion its the Best free alternative to MS Office and I don't miss a thing.

Pros: LibreOffice is a great alternative to costly Microsoft Office suite. It is compatible with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents and is completely free. It utilizes a standard toolbar as opposed to the "ribbon" used by current Microsoft products, which may make it easier for some users to adapt. In addition, the Linux version of LibreOffice is the finest office suite available for Linux users. Ability to export files to .pdf format is a big plus.

Cons: While the default file formats are fine, if you are sharing documents with Microsoft users you will need to either use the "save as" option to change the default format, or change the program's defaults to those of Microsoft products, i.e. .doc, .docx, .xls, .xlsx, etc. Also, the product does not contain any built in clip-art, but such clip-art is readily available elsewhere.

Overall: Not only do you benefit from the initial cost of the program (as opposed to MS Office) you also benefit due to free updates. Sharing LibreOffice documents of all types with Microsoft users has proven to be flawless, with few or any very minor compatibility issues.

Pros: I have worked in a free software environment and I have tried other similar LibreOffice options, and the latter is the one I liked the most. It is very comfortable and easy to use, you do not need training to start working with that. It has some qualities that are distinguished: You can work on Linux, Windows and Mac; is free; It occupies little space on the disk and is easy to install. It is functional, works in various extensions, including some that no longer come in private software, but are widely used in special programs such as cartography and geography.

Cons: There is something that I do not like free software in general and that LibreOffice does not escape, it is the technical support assisted by the community that uses it and develops it. Generally, if you have any concerns you should go to the forum, and sometimes these forums can be overwhelming.

Overall: When you need to import or export data tables with geographic attributes, they are required to be in specific formats, so that they can be used in Geographic Information Systems, such as the .csv format. Since the release of Microsofts 2007 suite, those formats were no longer present. Therefore the use of LibreOffice, allowed to fulfill my work, even optimize it.

Pros: That's the good thing about free software, that you can find packages like Libre Office with a lot of potential and completely free. If your computer does not have large resources, or you can not pay a private license, this software is for you, you have the whole package. If you have knowledge in traditional office automation, you will not have any problems.

Cons: The interface could be more attractive, I know they have devoted a lot, and it is not fair to describe something wrong with this computer proposal, but I want it to improve because it offers everything without a large payment except a donation. If they make those small changes they could attract more users who stop using private office automation. Another aspect that I recommend to change, is the language, if a person wishes to use Libre Office in Spanish he must install an additional pack, for that reason, it is preferable to do a multi-language installation, and that the user with few clicks decides the language of his preference.

Overall: You save money, a similar proprietary software can cost you more than per license, but LibreOffice can be your office computer support just by downloading the program. You can use it on computers with few resources, which allows you to avoid investing more resources in a hardware. Another benefit is the number of formats that you can read and export, you can go from a pdf to a .doc, it adapts very well to the price and function ratio. I have no major complaints.

Pros: I love that this powerful software is free. I am not a fan of Software As a Service which keeps you paying every month forever or having to buy extremely expensive software. Libreoffice is free though you can and should donate something toward continued development and it is more than enough for most small business use. I use the spreadsheet app the most to track my business expenses and inventory. It does all the calculations and charts I need to stay on top of my business and satisfy my accountant. The document app also gets used a lot for my business correspondence, book writing, notes, etc. Both apps allow me to easily format my input anyway I want to make both functional yet eye pleasing documents. I also like how it handles PDFs.

Cons: It is not Office so don't expect it to do everything just like it. It doesn't hook into other software, a fancy spreadsheet will look a little different, etc. but it does so much that it is a suitable replacement.

Pros: The possibility to use all the office software for free is the best feature of Libreoffice, this software brings all you need, word processor, presentation creator, sheets manager, pdf creator and so many other features, all this for free. The tools of this software are so similar and powerfull as MS Office are, you can create documents, presentations and work with data in a very easy way.

Cons: There are a lot of incompatibility between Libreoffice and MS Office and this can be a great limitation, because the most of people uses MS Office and sometimes when you share and document created in Libreoffice with someones who uses another software this can be a little corrupted or do not adjust perfectly to the other software, creating a problem for people who works with other application for presentations and documents.

Overall: Libreoffice bring me the possibility to do create my documents and presentations without any worry about licenses or payment, this is the best option for people who cannot afford the payment of a private software.

Pros: LibreOffice pretty much allows me to do anything that I could possibly want to do in a similar suite (like Microsoft Office, or iLife), but without the necessity of paying for a full suite. It integrates almost seamlessly with most other Office products, so I never have to worry about file compatibility or anything of the sort. It runs smoothly, and rarely crashes--usually only if I'm asking it to do a lot of work all at once, and even that might be more due to my computer's capabilities than the capability of the software.

Cons: There are some key features that it seems to be missing, especially when it comes to Calc, and it slows down a lot when making a big ask. It can take some time to boot up, as well, but once it is up and running it works well. It occasionally has trouble parsing alternate file types and loading them with formatting intact, but never seems to have an issue with exporting to various file types.

Pros: LibreOffice includes substitutes for most all the MS Office components. LibreOffice modules are Writer (documents), Calc (spreadsheets), Impress (presentations), Draw, Math, and Base (database). Extensive free documentation and tutorials can be downloaded from the Internet. If you ever have a question you'll easily find answers with a Google search. Document and spreadsheet can be saved to, and read from, most common formats; this helps compatibility. Updates keep LibreOffice current.

Cons: Although LibreOffice works similarly, naturally it is not exactly the same as MS Office. Some specialized spreadsheet macros I use in MS office needed to be rewritten to work in LibreOffice.

Overall: I used MS products at work. Now I use LibreOffice personally, and in my home office, mainly to save money. I found there was almost no new learning curve for LibreOffice. LibreOffice does everything I need. It suits me fine.

Pros: It is a very useful solution for professionals working on their own, since it is free both download and updates. It allows you to convert files and create .pdf files, as well as import files. And save them in other extensions. The possibility and ease of downloading fonts, images, etc.

Cons: Remote assistance for faults, technical recommendations for use, and tutorials are mostly issued by the free software community, without specific support or endorsement for each of the program's tools.

Overall: I use it both in mobile version and desktop and both are for me extraordinary, I prefer that to the private verison; It gives me much more advantages and better experience for the creation and conversion of tables, documents, presentations and text. It is very intuitive.

Pros: This office suite got it all for me - word processing, slide shows, spreadsheets, database and mathematical formulas for free. It is a free and open-source software that helps me in doing all the documents I need for my lecture, spreadsheets that has the ability to do accurate calculations, slide shows for my presentations, database for my programming activities and of course designs for my drawings. I can definitely say that this office suite "suits" to all my information processing needs.

Cons: I am a fan of FOSS (free and open-source software). I enjoy all of their features because it seems that I am paying for the license but in reality I did not even spend a single centavo. There is nothing I don't like about the LibreOffice.

Overall: The main business problem that this office suite solves is the license. I don't need to pay for all of its features. I love it!

Many of the tools are very similar to MS Word and MS Excel so if you know these programs you'll be able to use LibreOffice. It's also great that it allows you to save it as Microsoft Doc. It's a very convenient and best of all it's FREE! For people who can't afford MS Office for the time being I highly recommend LibreOffice.

Cons: The software can be a bit glitchy. Formatting isn't quite as reliable as it is on MS Office so sometimes you have to do a little extra work but it's definitely worth a try for anyone who needs Word and Excel but can't afford the Microsoft software. Make sure you save it as a Word or Excel document before you send it to anyone because people won't be able to open a LibreOffice file extension.

Overall: Overall I've had a pretty great experience with LibreOffice aside from the few glitches.

Pros: 1. For the most of part it provide features like Microsoft office suit means it can write in doc file and read them can make presentation like powerpoint and spreadsheet like Excel and do you know what it is free of cost as it is open source means anyone can see it;s code behind and contribute to it.

2. Even it were paid and obviously cheaper than Microsoft then I would go with it.

3. Compatible with most of the office document.

4. Not that much heavy to system as of Microsoft products.

Cons: The reason I sometime dislike is I went from using Microsoft product to Libreoffice so it makes life harder when you work on the full package thing then go to just it;s replacement.

Functionality is missing compared to Microsoft product but good with Google product in this segment.

Overall: Replacement of Microsoft Office Suit.

Pros: We all 'grew up' using Microsoft Office. We learned its interface and created all of our most sensitive personal and business documents with it. THEN, Microsoft began to charge a yearly fee to use the software we had all come to depend upon. Well, many of us were appalled and offended by. this move and began searching for open source (FREE) alternatives. Enter LibreOffice. This software gives us all of the functionality we know and love, with an interface that is so similar to Microsoft that the learning curve to start using this software takes less than an hour. And you can use Libre with Linux and PC. The documentation is superior. And, in case I didn't mention this, it is FREE !

Cons: LibreOffice does it all at a price I love. There is no negative comment I can make.

Pros: LibreOffice has been a life saver for me since I work on Linux systems a lot of the times and this is the only real complete office suite that I have found not on on Linux but on other OS as well which is very stable and gives the MS-Office suite a run for their money. We can do almost everything we can do with the traditional MS-Office suite here. It comes with a Word Processor, Presentation Software, Spreadsheet and more. It can open files saved in its own format as well as in .docx .pptx and .xlsx. The best thing is that it is open souce so anyone with a bit of proramming skills can take it apart and cutomize it to their needs and works on almost all major Operating Systems.

Cons: There are places where the apps in LibreOffice fades in comparison to other paid rivals which is quite understandable since this is built and maintained mostly by the community. On some linux distros I have seen it crash without any apparent reason and the UI really needs a lot of working on. Also the animations available in LibreOffice Impress (alternative to Powerpoint) are not upto the mark and not as smooth as one would like to have.

Pros: Libreoffice pros: you can download it for free, install it on any PC, it works correctly and you will gradually add certain improvements, which are made by the community of free software developers. It has many features such as the office of Microsoft.

Cons: This software has few things against, at least the case of not having all the functionalities of the Microsoft office, it does not have a similar one to the Microsoft one drive and sometimes it changes the presentation formats made in power point, which generates problems between users when opening files with extension ppt or pptx, to which they change text format, background and alignment of images.

Overall: This software allows me to do all my operations of spreadsheets, presentations and text without any problem and the best thing of all is that you do not have to pay user license

Pros: This software has everything that a private one has, you have word processor, an app for presentation, another to manage data, another want to make diagramming and so many other features that has software like MS Office. The functionality is exactly like other software there are no complications to use any of its apps, you can do the same that you do with a private software and for free with Libreoffice.

Cons: Like happen with another GNU software Libreoffice sometimes can be a little unastable, and can close without warning or running with a lot of lags, another by issues is the incompatibilty with MS Office, and this is a big problem because most of the people work with this software and the major of the feature of Libreoffice does not match with MS Office.

Pros: Libreoffice has all the features that a private software offers, with this you create documents, tables and graphics, presentations and diagramming, this software does not have anything to envy of a private software. All the features are so easy to wor for it and everyone can get use easily. I like all the moduls and I can work easily and for free with this software.

Cons: There are some troubles with compatibility when you use Librecad an another person MS Office, because some app does not match, and this can be a problem if you are constantly sending and share files to someone who use mainly MS Office, it is better for both to use Libreoffice and you will not have any problem with compatibilty of files.

Overall: Use for free all the apps that in the past I have to pay for was the major benefit that I get from Libreoffice, I can do everything with this software (documents, presentations and projects) without any limitation for payment or additional features.

Pros: So far LibreOffice is the best office suite for the Linux platform. It has all the apps for document processing such as Word, Powerpoint, Excel and Publisher but with different names. Predominantly, it has the capability to open and edit any documents created using Microsoft Office such as *.docx, *.xlsx, etc. But LibreOffice Writer uses its own extension ODF. It has almost all the features available in the Microsoft Office suite.

Cons: It is hard to use if we are using Microsoft Office 2007 or above for our regular use. Because the GUI for the LibreOffice is similar to Microsoft Office 2003. Hence it is a bit hard to find the options in LibreOffice. A small number of graphical buttons are there for formatting. In MS Office 2007 and above, if we select an object such as an image or a table, the properties related for that will appear in a new tab. But there is no such feature in LibreOffice.

Overall: If you are a Linux user, the ideal office suite is LibreOffice. Though it is a bit hard to use, you have no other better choice in Linux. It will be great if the GUI of LibreOffice become similar to the MS office 2007 and above.

Pros: It is free and open source. It does not track you and respects your privacy. It is compatible with GNU/Linux. It does not cost anything.

Cons: It lacks features and templates, compared to alternatives, especially in presentations. Android app is really bad, lacks basic features and has ugly UI.

Overall: A great office suite, though not as powerful and feature rich as others. I have been using LibreOffice for the last two years, the migration from Microsoft Office was easy, and now it is my daily driver. I use it to view and edit mostly text documents, as well as spreadsheets. Presentations are where I feel that it fells behind compared to alternatives, yet considering that using it has no cost I am more than satisfied. To conclude LibreOffice is an overall decent office suite that provides more than basic functionality at literally zero price.

Cons: The resulting graphics are not pleasant to show results, distortions are generated in jpg and png files when they want to be used in arc gis projects (proprietary software), for beginner users it is difficult to learn the routes of the commands.

Pros: From its name libre, its free office suite, who wont want that? Plus it has improved a lot since i used it back when it was named open office. The functionality is more advance then google docs but less then microsoft office. The UI had improved drastically over the years of using it.

Cons: If you come from microsoft office and does a lot of stuff there, libre office feels like a downgrade at first without the ribbon UI, libre office feels like an old application. In Calc, you would find missing a lot of advance features which gets better with libre office 6.1 but still lacks compare to excel.

Overall: For a free software its really good, wish they update the UI to atleast material design so it would look more modern.

Pros: I like the fact that they provide a spreadsheet, a word processor, presentation software and drawing software in an integrated package that runs on both my Mac and my Ubuntu computers. It's a real rival to MS Office in my opinion and the best news is that its free!

I also like the fact that it reads both the proprietary file formats from Microsoft and saves and exports to industry standard formats.

Cons: Sometimes some tools that you feel should be common and prominent are not easily found.

Overall: It's the only office software I use. I also have converted my whole family over to using Libre Office. It's a great free alternative. I like it so much, I donate to the non-profit to help keep the software updated and robust.

Pros: I like it, because it is an office package that includes a word processor, spreadsheet, presentation editor, graphics editor, drawings and diagrams, among others. It includes the possibility of exporting presentations, text documents and data tables in PDF formats directly, allowing them to be played on any computer with a Flash player installed. On the other hand, something very important is that of most free software applications, it is much safer and more reliable, with little chance that between a virus to your computer. It is very easy to use and can be learned just by putting into practice the options offered by each of the programs in this package.

Cons: What I do not like is that some design features and format attributes are handled differently or are not compatible with other packages, for example some designs and formats are lost in other files with other programs, color changes, letters, among others.

Overall: It benefits me because it is a complete office package and very easy to use and learn new options.

Pros: I run exclusively linux OS, and this product is free and open source. It opens every file type I need it to, and is a viable alternative to microsoft's comparable products. I actually prefer calc to excel, but I haven't used excel in so long that there is no way for me to reliably compare the two anymore. I can accurately open .docx formats and my coworkers have no issues with the format. We actually use .docx in the development department.

Cons: PDF editing is sub par. You can edit a pdf but saving it will not produce the same document. You actually have to export to .pdf. Saving certain features of .docx will mangle the document. Its not clear exactly why. My theory is it is related to free/libre fonts versus commercial fonts on windows. For example, bulletpoints look and space differently. For important documents with lots of formatting I end up using word online.

Overall: Its better than nothing, and it is my go to for document editing and .csv manipulation. I use it daily and it is always reliable, even for very large documents.

Pros: For a great alternative to Microsoft Office look to Libreoffice. It is a fully featured Office suite that works on Windows , Mac or Linux. It has full interoperability with Microsoft Office document formats and all of the features you use in Microsoft Office. Cons: Some of the most advanced featured of MS Office are missing.

Pros: I think what gives this document software a competitive advantage over other document programs like Microsoft Office, is that it is a free version that is compatible with .doc, .docx, .xls, .xlsx, .ppt, and .pptx files. Why pay for Microsoft Office when you can use a document program like this one that lets you do all of that for free? I use this all the time and it's convenient for me, lets me do everything that Microsoft Office can.

Cons: I don't know if this is a different problem or a problem with LibreOffice, but I notice sometimes when I am typing in the document with a specific font, letters cut off at the top or bottom sometimes. I don't know what it is, I've tried to fix it many times by making changes in the format menu, changing the spacing, etc. and nothing seems to work.

Pros: Free office is the package of basic tools used daily, they are incorporated into the computer for the use of various types of documents, including Word (text documents) Excel (database management) Power Point (dynamic presentation of information). This also has an app for mobile devices and it works great.

Cons: So far there is nothing that disgusts me. It is an excellent package and depending on the version (year) that is used, it updates new commands. The mobile version has some limitations of file editing.

Overall: It is daily use in my work, the use of the app allows me to view from my cell phone any free office document that you download.

Pros: First of all, it's free. But free here does not mean you are getting a lame tool to work instead of a pro sophisticated one. This a pro tool for all.

You get word processor, presentations, spreadsheets and much more. All those nice feature you can find in other commercial office suites are present here.

It is available in a portable format. So, if you travel a lot and have one of those laptops with limited space, you could run LibreOffice from a flash drive. Very convenient!

Compatibility with Microsoft Office is full and there is a version for MAC and PC as well (also Linux). So if you are looking for a nice office suite for free, Libre Office will be that and mucho much more.

Cons: It could be a little complicated to learn and find the right customization for your needs. But other than that, nothing.

It is not a good looking tool, but it does the job just as good.

Besides, the generated documents are so light that you could transfer then in absolutely no time. The other similar tools end up producing a bit larger file size for the same document. Beware.

Cons: For a new user, the icons do not convey an articulate meaning, they may spend some time on the internet trying to understand its meaning.

Pros: If you need office tools like a spreadsheet, word processor or a presentation software and you do not want to buy a closed source software suite or if you are on a linux and you do not have the option to but a close source office suite, this one will definitely be a life saver for you. It is an amazing suite of office apps and its completely free. But do not be fooled as its free, it can do almost any and every task you require of it, almost as good or sometimes even better than its paid altenatives.

Cons: Though the community adheres to the highest quiality in terms of coding this software suite is still lacks a bit if comapred directly to something like Microsoft's Office suite but that is quite natural as its maintained fully by the community and does not have the resources of a software behemoth. What is lacks is a super smooth UI, which really could use a bit work and also has some performance issues on some linux distros. Also it lack a few of the features in its spreadsheet app and its presentation software which are nearly not as powerful as compared to its paid rivals.

Pros: This program is intuitive and mirrors MS office enough that it is easy to use and figure out the functions. The program can be saved in an MS office format so that other can open documents, if they are not sporting Libre. A donation to the company to keep the program up and running is the cost. From writing, inserting pictures, changing fonts, printing to PFD, MS or Libre, it is a great program.

Cons: I spend a fair amount of time educating my clients on Libre , hoping they will see the light. MS is more popular than Libre, hindering people's ability to make a switch. The price alone is worth the switch and the small about of trouble to set up. I have never used customer support.

Pros: LibreOffice has everything that Microsoft Office has and more. The nice thing about Libre is that it's free! It works wonderfully with the Linux operating system and is compatible with Microsoft Office documents. Libre also has a couple of additional components in their suite--a drawing program and a Basic programming component. Since it's an open source, it is continually improving, and, it's easy to find support for even the least experienced user.

Cons: I guess if there is anything I didn't like about the software it's the fact that I started using a computer with the Linux operating system and I wasn't familiar with LibreOffice. It didn't take long to become comfortable using the word processing and the calculate portions. I would like to see more people using it.

Overall: I am able to create documents using LibreOffice and share them with others who are using a Microsoft Office program. This is very important and one of the reasons I use it.

Pros: LibreOffice has been a great alternative to MS Office. Most of our employees just need to be able to do basic editing and saving of office type documents. LibreOffice has done a great job of providing a free alternative for users who need an office suite but don't need the extra features and plug ins of MS Office. If you just need a standard office suite, this is a great option!

Cons: If you are used to MS Office, it will take a little bit of time to re-learn the file menus but it shouldn't be too hard.

Overall: We use LibreOffice for our users who don't need all the extra features that are in MS Office. Users can still save and edit MS Office files to the network and share them with other users without the need to pay for an office suite that is overkill for thier needs.

Pros: I love the way Writer handles inline images. Also, Libreoffice by default supports open document formats as well as the ability to create and edit pdfs. My primary OS is linux and I can say in recent times, Libreoffice can hold its own against the most popular office suite compared to a few years ago. Best of all, its free and open source if that is important to you.

Cons: The UI looks dated which frankly could be said for many other suites.

Pros: - Free (as in free beer and as in free software).

- Powerful: it is a long time since we need a feature that it does not have, even features from MS Office.

- Extensible: very easy to script and to create addons.

- Versatile: its server mode and its APIs make it really powerful for companies, a microservice on its own.

Cons: - Confusing and outdated interface, especially if you have to deal with configurations.

- Very resource-intensive.

Pros: For a majority of office suite users that need word processing and spreadsheet tools, LO does the job of providing a useful feature set using standardized and documented file formats without vendor lock-in. Compatibility with proprietary suites is very good when looking at core features, not so much in the more advanced specialized areas of publishing layouts and data analysis. LO can open and save a multitude of file formats, saves to PDF natively, supports object embedding, scripting and user macros.

Cons: The GUI is admittedly dated and less polished than some commercial products.

Overall: For document creation, where compatibility is not an issue, LO has all I need. I'm able to produce letters, flyers, brochures, labels, charts, and evaluative spreadsheets for my business and to communicate and share with customers. I don't think about versions, upgrades, licensing, user counts or subscriptions while using LO, and it's available for my Linux, Mac and Windows computers.

Pros: I think the biggest advantages of using Libreoffice are: 1. It allows many people who can not afford a license to use a quality product. 2 .- they have thought that not everyone has access to the Internet for 24 hours, so they have tried to help with that difficulty. 3.- It allows the use of a file in several platforms, for example if I generate a file in MS word in libreoffice I can see it. 4.- do not forget the updates, they are very important to keep the error correction and fault prevention up to date,

Cons: In certain occasions failures occur when accessing documents created on different platforms, for example I open a file in MS Word and it does not show how it was created in libreoffice, but I know that this is a very critical and dicial point to attack

Overall: previously we do not like its interface but it has improved it a lot, it has served us in pcs that are low performance allowing to give new use to those old

Pros: In general LibreOffice is the best free office suite for the following reasons:

1. Totally free to use.

2. Compatible with Microsoft Office documents and many other doc formats.

Pros: LibreOffice contains all of the basic office capabilities at no cost and works across platforms (Windows, Linux and Mac OS).

The OpenDocument (ODF) format works with MS Office files and can be exported to PDF.

I use LibreOffice as an alternative to MS Office. Writer is a word processor similar to MS Word and Calc works with spreadsheets, similar to Excel. It also includes Impress, Draw and Base, which are alternatives to PowerPoint, Publisher and Base, respectively.

Cons: LibreOffice doesn't look as good as MS Office and the interface takes some getting used to. The Options menu is especially confusing.

Impress and Draw are pretty limited compared to PowerPoint and Publisher.

Even though a LibreOffice Viewer function is available for Android and iOS, it doesn't offer full capabilities. I use Google Docs, Sheet and Slides on my phone and tablet instead.

Overall: The main office capabilities, free of charge.

I use it both on my Windows and Linux computer.

Pros: Very easy to download, install and getting started on Windows machines, most linux distributions would have it pre installed out of the box.

Can open and edit Microsoft Office documents

Cons: Some documents created on Microsoft Office will mess styling and format, the user interface feels kind of old though that it's just a matter of taste since doesn't affect the functionality

Overall: Since it's free and open source you can download oit and install it on any windows or linux computer, very easy to learn and you can save the documents on MS office format to share with other people that use that suite
