During that time I have seen this software suite go from strength to strength with more an more functionality being added year on year. It's compatibility with it's only real competitor (Microsoft Office) is unparalleled, providing users with the capability to switch effortlessly between the two suites with no loss of information or page fidelity. Packed with a vast amount of functionality, this free office suite provides it's users with incredible value at not cost. Writer can be used to write single letters or entire manuscripts (two of my published books were written using Writer). Calc can provide all the functionality expected from a modern spreadsheet application, in fact I have helped my wife track her business income and expenditure for the last 8 years. Impress can create beautiful presentations and with the aid of Draw to create graphics and illustrations, you will be astounded at the versatility of these tools. I use it for writing welcome letter to visitors and a variety of other things for my ministry. Pros I like not having to pay for a monthly subscription to use a software I use every day. This software allows me to use files from other word processors and office suites without having to worry if I will be able to open them or not. I don't understand why the bigger companies have gotten so greedy with these monthly cloud services when little guys like Libre can offer the same capabilities at a fraction of the cost. Cons The only gripe I have of the software is: 1) I don't like how the track changes is automatically applied to documents that were from other platforms 2) It may have it, but I have yet to find a label maker on the software. It also offers a text search option that allowed me to quickly scan the document's content without painstakingly scanning through all of it. Cons One function that I believe this application need is converting documents to other file formats, such as PDF or Jpeg. Pros I"m always using LibreOffice on my desktop, its a suitable and free alternative for Microsoft Office. The things I love about LibreOffice is it ability to use plugins aka extensions that enhances its functionality. There are language and translation extensions, Dictionary extensions, Clip Arts extensions, Templates for calender, formating etc. LibreOffice also has features which allow the user to export documents in multiple format e.g. PDF and even .doc plus its own format which is .odt LibreOffice also opens documents of other formats such as .doc, .xls. Basically anything from Microsoft Office The Interface is very similar to that of Microsoft Office so in my opinion there is no learning curve.
