Comments: Our company has over 100 locations with 4000+ employees. We have about every make and model of legacy phone systems and in 2012 we evaluated several phone platforms to standardize across the enterprise. Part of the evaluation was a detailed TCO - Total Cost of Ownership over the life of the phone systems. In the end, Switchvox was the ideal choice for us. We have deployed at about 30% of our locations so far using Digium phones. The self provisioning feature makes phone deployment very quick and easy. We run Switchvox in VM environment and now that Digium has come out with VM version we are upgrading all sites to have the VM tools.

Pros: Works great in VM environment, easy to use web interface, and feature rich, Switchboard is great tool for users, self provisioning phones make installs easier. Digium has great library of videos for training staff. Switchvox is also designed for the users to administrate their own extension and this has greatly reduced tickets to our help desk.

Cons: Digium needs to come up with certification process for end users.

Recommendations to other buyers: Make sure your network is solid and vLAN's are set up before installing any VOIP system. Use VOIP rated routers as most routers do not have fast enough CPU's and your audio quality will suffer.

Comments: We have used this system for our front desk for the past five years! We have been very impressed when using this operating system thanks to it's user friendly layout and advance functions. I recently noticed they updated the switchboard page and made it even easier to use. Transferring calls, sending people to voicemail, and seeing others phone availability has never been easier!

Comments: We have had Digium for over 10 years. We used to have them on premise and have recently switched over to their hosted platform. Very reliable-Great company. We also love our softphone mobile app for our lawyers to be able to work remote or on the go.

Pros: Ease of use, rich features, friendly customer service

Cons: Not much to complain about

Recommendations to other buyers: The ROI is fantastic on the system that we have experienced over the past 10 years. Support has just come under new management and things are running well. The staff is always willing to help. I would definitely recommend for any business!

Comments: I use digium in my office. If the quick dialer isn't crashing, other features will.

Pros: Ease of use when working

Cons: Never working at 100%. Something is always failing or down, if not the whole system.

Recommendations to other buyers: Use something else.

Pros: Intuitive setup and admin interface. Phone setup works well.

Cons: Support (paid) is horrible. System critical issues take days sometime weeks to get resolved. In Hindsight, if I knew there support was so bad I would not have invested in this system.

Recommendations to other buyers: Don't purchase this system if you plan to call for support.

Pros: Ease of configuration, rich feature set, best price for feature set on the market.

Cons: support can be slow at times, some features do not work 100% or are a little flaking

Recommendations to other buyers: While Switchvox does have some little quirks, it's nearly impossible to beat the feature set this system has for the price. It's got the features of a shoretel without the crazy price tag, just keep it mind it is not quite as polished. It's a very robust easy to use system.

Lots of issues and bugs, terrible support

Pros: No hardware issues after a year and a half. Easy to use GUI. Simple installation.

Cons: Software is old and outdated even on the latest version which requires an active support contract to stay up-to-date. Lots of bugs and problems. The Switchboard lags, crashes, and displays inaccurate information. Switchvox support (which we pay for) acknowledged this as an issue over 6 months ago and have not produced a fix or workaround. Support is a joke. No impressive features. API is not very robust. No real integration. No real fault tolerance / high availability options.

Recommendations to other buyers: Test the hardware before committing. It is easy to make a decision just by talking about it, reading about it, and seeing pictures, but I suggest a full evaluation of the system, even if in a lab, before spending tens of thousands of dollars on a new phone system. Contact other businesses with the system to see how they like it.
