I use it for VPN when I am out of office and I have never had any problem with its performance. The developers' community always adapt this app to newer OS versions. -IT departments have a great product to secure his environments (Hyper-V and VMware ESXi), there are some cloud services that allow VPN configurations like Amazon. Cons \-For less technical users it's almost impossible to configure the app for every environment. -Configuration guide use technical language, making even harder to fix issues. -Customer Support it's not available via common channels like chat or email, users need to ask about his issues on forums or communities. I didn't use it everyday but there are times when I would turn it on just to feel more secure while working online. It's easy to turn on and off and doesn't affect your internet speeds. Pros I never experienced a lag in internet speed while using OpenVPN. The program lives in your SysTray and is easy to turn on and off from there with a right-click. Cons It is difficult for me to indicate a disadvantage to an application that does its job very well and also I do not have to pay anything for its use, I really recommend it. I specifically chose OpenVPN because it was a free piece of software that is integrated right into my Linksys router. I was able to set this up with little effort and no cost. For occasional use the speed was good and the availability was right. Cons What I like least about this software is, as with most free software, you are not guaranteed good service or support. This tool is open sourced and while the community is very helpful, the site is not laid out well and there is no solid support system that I have seen. I get to access data that is quite a distance from me maybe with slow internet, but i no longer have to be on site to access our companies servers. Pros After figuring out how to setup the software, Accessing your server remotely becomes very easy, no tweaking, or configuring required afterward. If we didn't use OpenVPN, I would not be able to travel as much as I do. It has been super helpful! Pros This software allows me to connect to my work computer securely while I am travelling for work. The software works well once the connection is established. I am able to connect via hotel networks, or with using mobile data to connect. OpenVPN has not let me down. Cons There are some 'quirky' things - like making sure you run it as the administrator of the device you are using. Once I got to use to the things that had to happen in the specific order, the connections have been great and I am not worried about the security - as much. Often found very useful for customers that do not have VPN software that allows us to create a secure tunnel back into our environment while providing remote management securely. We needed to lock down some tools to in-office IPs only but have remote employees. It was super easy to get everyone set up and going, usually, our team has trouble following instructions but everyone was able to handle it Cons We did see some issues with Mac users downloading the tool. we found a workaround for it and was able to get them set up.
