Pros: I liked how I could clock in remotely from anywhere, I didn't need to be at a specific location or be in range but it would have been nice to know where it "pinned" me for clocking in. A coworker recommended we use this as a means of clocking in and out.

Cons: It was very easy to forget to clock out, or clock out by mistake. It was a head ache for my payroll person to calculate our hours when this happened. I know I had trouble with little mistakes like that and it was hard to tabulate my actual hours and get an idea of what my paycheck would be. Ultimately, we decided to move to another app to track our hours.

Overall: For the most part, it was fairly straightforward and easy use. There were a few features I was told you could use Hot Schedules for but could never figure out how to do such as view my schedule or switch shifts with a fellow colleague. For a small staff it did its job.

Comments: This was a great system to work with and it is highly recommended for anyone who is just looking for a basic scheduling system. I honestly didn't have any issues with this system. Once it went down and we all needed new passwords.

Pros: This scheduling system is so quick and easy to use. from logging in, to requests and switching shifts. It also has the great email and text features that ensure everyone gets the reminders needed. I loved this system!

Comments: Easy to use, good reviews from staff and manangement. Worth the investment of time and money to get started

Pros: User friendly, lots of reporting capabilities, mobile app available. Helpful for budgets, forecasts, execution

Cons: Mobile app doesnt have all the features i used daily. A little more expensive then others. Some reports should be on a main screen, for quick view.

Pros: Hot Schedules has streamlined our scheduling process. Prior to Hot Schedules, coordinating availability changes, time-off requests, and employee substitutions was a hassle that involved a lot of communication and email. Now team members are able to be more involved in the scheduling process and are able to view their schedule, submit time-off requests, availability changes, and substitution requests all from their apps, limiting the need for other means of communication.

Cons: The software can be a bit confusing initially for new hires. When onboarding people, there is usually a delay while HotSchedules is generating their account.

Overall: Our scheduling process was streamlined. Hot Schedules reduced confusion and unnecessary communication between management and team members regarding scheduling issues.

Pros: Hotschedules is the go-to product when it comes to schedules and your employees. Shift swaps and approvals are seamless.

Overall: I get all the benefits of viewing and changing my schedule around in the palm of my hand. How much better can that get??

Cons: Expensive. They quietly lock you into a contract to pay them monthly fees, even after you learn that their software is terrible and does not help your staff scheduling duties. The installation took many days, and was filled with one problem after another. The product is overly complicated and confusing. THEY MAKE YOUR EMPLOYEES PAY FOR THE MOBILE APP!!!!! Yes, you read that right, your employees will have to pay to get the app. Another con is that you actually have to print up a page with the invite for each employee to sign up for the schedule app. There are many other options available on the web and for tablets.

Pros: I have worked in the restaurant industry and this allows for easy scheduling and payroll management for my employees and it's simple to use. Furthermore if you are using e-learning this software teams up well with Schoox *LMS* in order to provide courses for my staff. They can easily take their courses the day they start working because the system auto enrolls them into their courses while allowing them to know their shift schedule.

Cons: There's a bit of a learning curve associated with hot schedules because of the different options but it's great regardless.

Overall: Made me more efficient at ensuring that I ran accurate reports for the DM'S

This software is easy to use and a great way to communicate.

Pros: The communication side of it is great. I have less meetings now that I can send out mass messages. The scheduler itself is top notch. I can move shifts around quickly using the quick keys and copying schedules is a snap. Having the freedom to do my schedule anywhere and being able to approve or deny schedule changes from my phone makes those decisions more informed. We use it to document all incidents good and bad on employees, so when an evaluation comes around you have all that information at your fingertips. It makes a great reservation scheduler. The roster report is the first thing I print out in the mornings to make sure everyone is here and where they are supposed to be and if they are not I have all the phone numbers on that sheet. The fact that it gives you the number of hours for everyone helps with creating budgets for the week.

Cons: My biggest complaint is that part of the expense for the is put on the employee. I know it's very little but some employees don't have a bank account or credit card and have trouble making the purchase. It seems to me that the revenue generated by that could be built into the cost of the software on the employer side.

Overall: The largest benefit was time management. I have a lot more time to do other things that improve our guest's experience, which is the bottom line of my job.

Pros: HS connect makes it easy to upload from our POS. Functionalities are plentiful. Digital log book and task list are favored.

Cons: Billing is never accurate. Takes a long time to get fixed. The representatives change constantly. Take list functions and reporting are minimal. Task list are easy to build but not intuitive to assign.

I have used hotschedules for years at several of my jobs. It made scheduling 200+ employees easy.

Pros: I like how user friendly and easy hotschedules is to use. I love all the reports you can generate for labor and schedules. The software is very easy to maneuver compared to many other scheduling softwares.

Comments: Makes time off requests and daily availability very easy for staff to make and then to schedule off of.

Pros: Ease of use for staff to release/swap/manage shifts. App makes checking schedule and sending message always available and easy.

Cons: The notifications could be easier to adjust in the settings and messaging could be sorted better, especially within the app.

Pros: I like to use Hot schedules to help me build a schedule for my employees, it save me lots of time with having to send out the schedule and insuring everyone gets it! The best part is all request can submitting in one place.

Pros: i like that employees can take more ownership of their schedules with limited interactions with managers freeing them to manage and not have so much time figuring out schedules.

Cons: The initial set up and first schedule can feel overwhelming and the set up pages aren't automatically emailed to new hires.

Pros: The auto-scheduler and templates.

Cons: You can't put a limit on how many people request off the same day.

Overall: Couldn't be any happier. HotSchedules has streamlined the way we make a schedule, and has organized the way we do things! The staff really enjoys being able to control their personal schedule from the comfort of a smart phone. Also the number of headaches have dramatically been on a decline since the introduction of HotSchedules. Thank you!

Comments: Using hotschedules really helps restaurant employees easily access their schedules.

Pros: As a server you can easily pick up an available shift that someone else can't work, and also release/post a shift that you cannot work in order for someone else to grab it.

Cons: Sometimes it is difficult knowing where to go in order to find out certain information, such as if somone sends out a message for all employees to see, but for some reason I won't be able to locate where to see the message.

Cons: nothing system is great

Overall: Love hot schedules for scheduling projecting and just very user friendly. Really like how employees can drop shifts and fellow employees pick them up. Makes things easier when they don't have to call the restaurant and they can work it out on their own.

Pros: Easy to use works well for all employees plus shows labor percentages and tracking. Nice to be able to use the daily log to communicate with everyone as well.

Overall: Really like the program makes it easy to post schedule and for employees to be able to work with one another to change their shifts

Comments: What I enjoy about hot schedules is two fold. One as a training manager I can easily set this up with the schoox LMS. So any new employee added to hot schedules automatically gets assigned their courses within schoox. This makes it easier for restaurant managers to train their staff without any support from training furthermore, it allows them to personally control their schedules without needing to worry about how training/restaurant will communicate with one another. Outside of the learning component, hot schedules are easy to use and it offers a color coded scheduler designed to easily help you manager your daily or weekly schedules.

Pros: ease to use almost functions like an HRMS

Cons: has a steep learning curve

Comments: HS updated (NOT upgraded) their interface, and the results are disappointing. The data conversion from the old software results in errors, and the new interface is clunky and not as easy to manage.

Comments: I have been using Hot Schedules for several years now, and I have to say it always pleases! In the service industry, the word "easy" is not usually thrown around. As a FOH manager, and a former FOH staff member Hot Schedules has always been super easy to use and super helpful! Also, implementing it into the restaurant was quick, easy, and the most affordable. The Hot Schedules team is always around to provide great customer service as well! If you are in the market for a new scheduling, labor tracking, (among many other things) service. I would for sure go with Hot Schedules!

Pros: Great reporting and review. Awesome scheduling at ability to forecast sales and labor.

Cons: Not much honestly. The customer service is sometimes a little hard to get ahold of, and during maintenance or peak hours it can sometimes be hard to access the servers.

Overall: Hotschedules has made scheduling and forecasting MUCH easier. We are just a small business and the service they provide for the value is outstanding. Scheduling takes hours less than it used to and being able to look at the sales, labor, and other projection really helps us. Great service!

Pros: What I like most is the scheduling. I can make a template of a schedule used commonly or start from scratch.

Cons: What I like least is probably more on my part, and that is that I find it to be a lot going on and I am not exactly technologically savvy. But customer service has always been great at helping me answer any questions that I have.

Overall: I love hotschedules. It has really helped me get my business running more fluid, not just for myself but for our staff. Especially when it comes to making a schedule and the ease of use for the staff. I wish Hotschedules had a way for us to incorporate breaks though. That would be very helpful.

Recommendations to other buyers: I wish that when making the schedule we had the ability to incorporate breaks without having to schedule staff for separate shifts. It seems to confuse them.

Comments: My managers are thrilled that they no longer have to make schedules in a spreadsheet. Switching shifts and distributing schedules is a breeze. Requesting time off is also much easier for employees. I'm thrilled they can now easily see how much they are spending on labor.

Comments: We recently purchased Hot schedules after reviewing many similar products, and are very pleased with the selection that we made.

Pros: online access, clock-in monitoring

Cons: Inability to update the template, having to resave a schedule instead of just adjusting the template. Having to put in the password all the time on my office computer. Need an option for a "keep me signed in on this computer and only ask for passwords when making a change

Overall: It really helps with communication with your staff they have the availability to check their schedule any time. You can also eliminate early clock-ins

Cons: Cost of the app for smart phones, a lot of staff do not want to pay for it

Overall: We currently have four entities that use Hot Schedules. Each entity seems to get easier and easier to set up! Each representative that I have worked with has been friendly, considerate, and willing to answer any questions I may have. I was given documents on how to navigate the interface myself, along with a support team that has responded back to my inquiries in less than 24 hours each time. I would certainly recommend this product to others.

Comments: HotSchedules has revolutionized scheduling for our restaurant/bar. Templates make creating scheduling easy and efficient, but the biggest change is the ease with which shifts can be released/picked-up and swapped. What used to required endless calls and texts is now accomplished in a few quick clicks on a smartphone.

Overall: It has good points and bad points, but over all the tool is very useful. Sometimes getting into the program can be difficult, but once your in things are easy to navigate.

Pros: I love that this software is more comman than it use to be. Most employees hired have heard or used hotschedules which makes the transition alot easier. Communication threw hotschedules makes this program a must for any business that has a decent sized staff

Cons: Software is great however it is a little pricey for what it does. Dont get me wrong its great but just a hair high

Overall: I recently signed up for hotschedules for my business that opens up in March. The support staff was great and very knowledgable in questions I had for hotschedules.

Recommendations to other buyers: I have worked at enticing of other jobs that dont have enticing and know that they could benefit using your software . The only down size is the price and start up fees. The reason is that the price is a little out of range for people who havent used it and dont know its capabilities. I would recommend having more inticing deals to lure more businesses in so that they can see how awesome the software is then they wont be able to live with out it.

Pros: Easy to use

Cons: The availability hours seems to be glitchy and say someone is not available when they are. You also can't see what other staff is on your shift unless you download the app. Only the manager can see who is working

Overall: It's easy to get schedule changes out to the staff, notifications on the phone and especially because you can sync it to your Google calendar and your schedule shows up on your phones calendar!

Pros: The logbook feature, the advanced floor maps (which are an additional cost..), and the messaging feature.

Cons: Again the scheduling software is not very user friendly. Clearly there were some adjustments made that helped with writing a schedule, but not being able to view it as easily is frustrating.

Overall: It is very difficult to get responses from customer support. It will take a day and up to 3 to hear anything back and that is in several different support groups. Also, the fact that you get shuffled from one type of support to another is quite frustrating. When you start you have 1 person that owns the majority of the experience.She was great! But once you get passed on to customer support it feels like you are lost.

I also have an issue with the scheduling functionality. It is impossible to view an entire day of a schedule either in the schedule or the template. There used to be a button at the top of the schedule that allowed you to see the entire day, who was scheduled in each station, all at a glance. The new functionality makes it incredibly difficult to manage the level of staff on a shift.

Cons: There are too many things to list. Mainly I don't like that there is a severe lacking in functionality for a program so expensive.

Overall: HotSchedules has barely any of the functionality that I needed and expected out of a scheduling program. I have had constant issues with customer care representatives, both with a lack of responding to emails and giving me incorrect information. I would not recommend this software.

-Easy to use
-Decent price
- Takes all information from Aloha so that you do not have to enter new employees multiple times

Cons: -If you terminate an employee it will come back as an active employee unless you also terminate them on Aloha

Overall: Before hot schedules we were just making the schedule on an excel sheet and all the employees would give us their requests for time off on a sticky note but now with hot schedules it makes it so much easier to write the schedule and to view peoples time off request. It is also a great tool for the employees to release or pick up their shifts and seeing who will be working that day. It has made things much easier for everyone and since the majority of people have smart phones they can easily access their schedule.

Pros: The control on the time, schedule replication, authorization and roles.

Overall: We have been using hot schedules for 6 months now, I can tell by experience it has improved the way our we communicate with our employees and the way we control absences and schedules. The first thing we realized was a better flow of the time management process and decreasing on the late arrivals! It can be accessed by any of our employees any time, so they are always aware of changes because of a seamless email workflow. In resume is an effective and easy to use tool.

Pros: Able to do everything I need with this software to make my job easier. Schedules, forcasting, staffing

Cons: Nothing software is great

Overall: Helps us with staffing as well as projecting out sales and labor. Plus having people be able to drop shifts and have their colleagues be able to pick up those shifts without them having to call in and have a manager find a replacement makes things much easier.

Comments: Once I got used to the software it has become easy to use. Sometimes the user interface can seem a little over-complicated. Sometimes its tricky to multi-task. Switching between staff list, schedule, etc. is sometimes slow. Being able to instantly contact staff is great.

Comments: The schedule function is great, all my employees get their schedule sent right to their phones or email. Have had problems syncing with our current point of sale system, some issues are being worked on, some are just lagging, like new employees can take a few days before appearing on HS. The template system for schedules is a bit cumbersome, though maybe that's on my own end. The HS app is good for getting the schedule or roster only, it can't be used for requesting time off as it does not show up for managers to approve or deny the request. Also, I had hoped the process of someone needing a scheduled shift off would be more user friendly. As far as I can tell, if someone needs a scheduled shift off, they can only release it and hope someone will notice and pick it up. I was under the impression that when releasing a shift that a notification or message could be sent to all or select employees to help speed up the process of getting the shift covered. When a shift is released I would also like to get a notification as a manager that the shift has been released so I could also help find coverage or at least be aware that an employee may not be able to come in for a shift.

Comments: HotSchedules will change the culture of your restaurant, it really is one of the best software programs I've ever used. Employees can make requests to work or take off, release, swap, or pick up shifts, and send messages. The app is very easy to use and for anyone who doesn't have a smartphone the website is great or a manager can quickly print anyone's schedule. Everything is super customizable for manager's writing the schedule and for employees. Invest in this program, it's great.

Pros: Easy to post the schedule and easy for the staff to switch shifts and request time off. It is a great tool that keep it all together.

Cons: The price is a bit much for a small company but it is worth it.

Overall: I have really enjoyed using Hotschedules it make communicating with my staff easy. It help keep them accountable for their schedule. East to switch shifts and always know who is working.

Overall: HS makes a restaurant managers job so simple. From scheduling to labor reports HS does it all, actually more than I know after years of use. I still learn everyday more tools HS has to make our jobs easier.

Cons: the new scheduler takes longer to enter, and they took away the option to hover over a request off and see the reason and date requested. please bring back!

Overall: i like that i can easily access the schedules and requests off in one place. I am not a fan that they took away the option to easily see what date someone made the request though. that was a feature i used often.

Pros: It makes schedule switches very easy

Cons: The interface is complicated and it is difficult to see when I have messages.

Overall: I am not a fan of some of the changes to hot schedules, but overall it is useful! It would be great to do in house trainings so all staff can be up to date on use.

Pros: Logging in on phone and being able to use the app to quickly approve shifts or log a daily entry.

Cons: As a manager it's hard to quick see your entire schedule. Scrolling is annoying and when people quit they don't disappear even when deleted from POS.

Overall: As a manager Hot Schedules has been a tremendous tool. It is great to keep daily logs and information can be added anywhere through the app!

Pros: Requests off, availability, blackout dates, staff communication sections. The app works great for everyone.

Cons: No ease of use when making the schedule - autocorrecting number entries constantly, schedule templates aren't what I need, schedule report is difficult to read.

Overall: It's got so many options - none exactly what I need - that it is almost too cumbersome. I would like more flexibility to create template shifts and place them on days as needed, with it being ok that some days there are blank shifts left over. Rather than now, when if I make a template and want a day to be scheduled lightly, it tells the staff there's a house shift open. The template feature is practically more work than just starting from scratch each week. I hate entering the times of a shift and having it immediately autocorrect to the last half hour. For example if I want a shift to start at 1:30PM and end at 10:30PM, I have to type 1:30, click off and it will change it to 1:00, click back on to get to 1:30, and repeat to get the end time to read 10:30 instead of 10, then repeat to get PM instead of AM. I'd also like to not have to redo the schedule report generator so that it's easier to read every week, for the printed schedule we keep in the shop. All those outlines, yikes! What I do like is the messaging/staff communication parts. Requests off are clear and easy, same with shift swapping. I like being able to create blackout days for no requests off, and I like that I can easily see who wants off when and when the RO was made.

Recommendations to other buyers: I'm not sure if I will sign up again, honestly. Sometimes simplicity is best - I will miss being able to put in blackout dates, but might go back to Schedulefly just because it didn't take so long to enter the schedule.

Pros: Makes schedule making quick.

Cons: The website goes down or kicks you off for extended periods of time. I will say this happens less frequently than it used to. I have used hotschedules for almost six years.

Overall: I am not quick to learn anything regarding computer programs, but hotschedules is very easy to use. Makes putting your schedule together stress free. At times website itself has issues that can be frustrating.

Pros: IOS Compatibilty, cloud based.

Cons: Reporting can be cumbersome at times. Not all functions work well on Safari Browser.

Overall: We use a few of your products, HotShedules, LogBook, Inventory. All of them make our job easier and more affective. There is a lot of room to grow with the Inventory product. Hopefully we will see improvements in the future. Still, very pleased with all the products.

Recommendations to other buyers: Inventory product needs some attention to get it to be a great tool, right now its just okay. Im excited and anxious for it to improve. I was a part of the BETA testing and i feel like improvements just stopped one day.

Cons: No way to set request off parameters by the day. Schedule writing is harder with the new version

Overall: I liked the old version better where you could click the roster button while writing a schedule and see a snap shot of that day. Everyone I know can not figure out why you got rid of that. Also I have been asking for years that you make it where we can set a max amount of request per day. Like 3 request off on monday, 4 on tuesday, 2 on sunday etc... so if I could allow 2 request off on sunday. When the 3rd person went to request off it would give them a pop up that would need to be approved by a manager.

Comments: Just got started with Hotschedules. A few minor areas for improvement but overall a good product. Definitely an upgrade over doing our schedules in an Excel spreadsheet.

Comments: This is the third restaurant that I've used to hot schedules in. I have found that it is very easy to use and a Time Saver. It's helpful for my employees as well as my fellow managers and owners.

Pros: The many hours it has saved me!

Cons: Would like to be able to see how many hours each of my staff members want to work

Overall: Overall I love HotSchedules. I would love to have it integrated with my POS system, which I think my franchise is working on. The other option I would like is for my staff to be able to put in how many hours they would like to work and then when I'm scheduling I would be able to see those wanted hours.

Pros: The communication between employers and employees.

Cons: It's difficult to see the schedule layout and make sure all the shifts are covered.

Overall: I find the interface a bit difficult to use. I wish I could organize the employees by job type as opposed to alphabetically.

Pros: Sure is pretty.

Cons: Doesn't properly help to write an actual great, efficient schedule.

Overall: As the title says. It looks great BUT doesn't actually help with scheduling. Not real true scheduling as other tools I've used in the past

Recommendations to other buyers: Make it about the scheduling not about the bells and whistles!!!!!!!!
