Pros: The ease of putting in availabilities, and how easy it is for an employee to use. It is also very user friendly.

Cons: They often change things without a lot of notice. Sometimes some extra help before the change happens would be a lot more useful.

Pros: We used it for everyday shift highlights, it was very nice to be able to search for specific recordings

Cons: After a while, it will log you off and you continuously needed to sign in to the software that was bothering me a lot.

My experience is great. I love this software because it makes my daily prep easier for my company.

Pros: It's easy and accessible to use from home and work. I am able to make changes as the day goes with no issues.

Cons: When I have a question and take forever to be answered. The 800 number and reps need better training..

Overall: I am able to make my schedules weekly and easy. I am able to get ahead of the business. The schedule makes my days and weeks go easy and smooth. My staff members understand this easy software.

HotSchedules does a great job at presenting all your scheduling/reporting data at a quick glance.

Pros: A couple things that I really enjoy about HotSchedules is the reporting and future forecasting functions. You can also teach HotSchedules how to auto-schedule based off of those patterns from previously scheduled weeks. It is pretty user-friendly and when you launch for the first time - you have plenty of help. They give you a contact to assist you and provide plenty of step-by-step tutorials for all of the included functions of the software. They also give you styling options for how you would like to view and edit the schedules. The reporting data is quickly accessible and can be pulled from a large range of dates (this helps with payroll verification).

Cons: HotSchedules, at times, can be a little buggy. There have been instances where I have completed a full schedule and upon saving my data, it would revert to the previous schedule before the changes had been added. This can be a tad frustrating when trying to crank out schedules quickly.

Pros: With out a doubt; the kind, patient and helpful customer support is hands down the best part of using hot schedules.

Cons: The layout of the calendar when scheduling staff is difficult to use. I wish I could see everyone in front of me instead of scrolling up and down continuously while scheduling.

Works great for scheduling. Logbook not worth money. Billing has been an issue.

Pros: Scheduling portion, along with employee certification tracking. Both of these are easy to use and implement.

Cons: A lot of software glitches that lock employees out. A lot of issues with shift trades and requests off. Anytime an update is needed, it shuts off access.

Overall: Easier scheduling and shift trades.

Always pleased with the service.

Pros: I like the ease of service, and the willingness to help from customer support. I have always used the software since I have been in the industry, and I appreciate the product consistency.

Cons: The mandatory training sessions. I was already familiar with the software, but was a bit disgruntled having to listen through the session.

Good in some ways but it is a bit confusing.

Pros: I like the availability of employee's getting their schedules electronically through there phones. I also like them to have that availability to request off and do shift changes electronically.

Cons: That it would not pull information off of our system on historical data when we started. We will have to be on the system for a year to have annualized data.

Overall: communication of schedules, availability, and shift trades.

Overall, it is a good software.

Pros: What I like most about this software is that it integrates with Revention, allowing me to put a time cap on when employees can clock in.

Cons: What I like least about Hotschedules , is that it needs to work on a few things with the integration with Revention.

Pros: Great for scheduling and staff communication. Makes handling a large staff easy. Logbook is great for communication on all issues with mangers and staff, even starting to use it to track our hr.

Cons: Want to see the inventory system improve as well as better ease of use across multiple venues other than that continue to grow and develop

Overall: Allowed me to spend less time scheduling and communicating with staff. More organization on notes and employee files

Hotschedules is the best scheduling system I have ever worked with.

Pros: Hotschedules integrates with our POS making budgeting labor dollars a breeze. We also like the functionality of the log book.

Cons: There is a lag when switching between schedules which is troublesome at times but other than that I have no complaints.

The product does what it says it does for the most part. Could be more streamlined and updated.

Pros: Fairly easy to use. Customer service is easy to get a hold of. You can access most (not all) features from the app. It's easy to send out mass messages to staff and we like the logbook feature.

Cons: Sales people falsely represented the product. We had a whole lot of trouble getting it up and running and a whole lot of trouble with training calls, etc. The produce could be much for streamlined for 2018. Semi-archaic and out of date.

Pros: so so much... scheduling is great overall (see cons), ability to communicate with the staff, ability to track performance, ability to communicate to mgrs and set follow ups and to do's, ability to build and use digital walk through's.

Cons: inability to customize reports for specific users
inability to combine forecasted labor %s based on grouped job codes or inability to build a schedule accurately to %'s based on that
mobile capabilities are less than ideal when compared to using a larger format i.e. iPad or computer

Pros: Hotschedules helps us keep a line of communication and department standards in check. Enables employees to self manage their schedules and avail-abilities.

Cons: Not too many bad sides to this software. The fact that it does not work with our POS system (RPower) is a bit of a down fall.

Pros: Communication with my team and the scheduling / labor management tools. I can forecast and build schedules in many different ways.

Cons: Lack of some features that would take it to the next level for me. An example would be the lack of integration on the Event module. I can't add events to a roster report for the day. This would seem to be an easy fix and something that would help a great deal.

Overall: A much improved method of tracking, forecasting, and managing labor. Also we communicate as a team much better than before with the daily logs.

Pros: There are a lot of reports, there is also an awesome tool to use when you are confused on how to use something. that tool walks you step by step.

Overall: All information is sent to one place. Helps a lot with keeping track of team.

I used HotSchedules for a serving job and it was easy to access and convenient.

Pros: The accessibility was it is biggest pro. Being able to login to this application from anywhere and pickup or release shifts was great. I also loved that once a schedule was released, I would get a text notification of my upcoming shifts and the app also showed when my alcohol certification would expire.

Cons: There were no cons to this app. I really think this app is very beneficial to have. The only thing that I would change is for the app to document the clock in and out times.

Pros: Easy to schedule based on availability and staffing needs. It's nice to have a consolidated roster report for every position. I also like that you can sync it with the POS system to control labor.

Cons: New scheduling module makes it difficult to see how many people are on a certain schedule for each specific day. Also, having two request off options is confusing and sometimes makes it difficult for the MOD to control when people can and cannot request off

Pros: Working good for front of the house, they've embraced it and schedule and logistics are working good and it is effective.

Cons: Difficult time getting back of house on board, lot of kitchen personnel don't want to pay the app fee

Pros: The ability for our managers to use from anywhere. It is way more convenient than paper scheduling. It takes the guess work out of it.

Cons: When there are updates sometimes re-learning where everything is can be a challenge.

Pros: The best features are for employees to easily access and trade their shifts from their smartphone app is very helpful also.

Cons: The implementation cost and time involved is extensive. The on-boarding staff is helpful but the software itself is difficult to learn.

Pros: When making a schedule, I love to be able to only look at one department at a time. We have quite a few departments and this makes it a lot easier.

Cons: Too many people can pick up a shift from someone else. With the last software we had, you could give a shift to a specific person without having to call in to a manager to let them know who is supposed to get the shift. When our servers pick up a shift, they don't know if it is theirs until a manager approves it. With our last software, a server would pick up a shift and it would disappear so others couldn't pick it up.

Also, some color code availability would be great.

Pros: It has made scheduling so much easier! The ease of access our staff has to view their schedule or reach out to management is a HUGE bonus.

Cons: Not being able to view the whole schedule on the screen. Not being able to approve some days but not all for requests for time off.

I use this to track the hours employees work to compare to the payroll.

Pros: The communication feature. We use it daily and it serves a great purpose. We use it to stay on the same page. Also using the staff journal for documentation regarding employees.

Cons: The lack of predictability. I wish that the POS integration could help forecast futures. The tool allows us to predict but doesn¿t automatically do so.

Pros: Makes scheduling easier. I've never had an issues when it comes to scheduling with HS. It's a great platform especially when you operate a high volume restaurant. Hotschedules has allowed me to focus on other aspects of managing my restaurant. Scheduling literally takes about 15 minutes every week. Employees past and present have also had positive things to say about hot-schedules. Employees like the fact that you can download the app and be able to see any updates made to the schedule. Go-Hire has also been a great tool for my company. Onboarding new employees is made so much easier now with eliminating paper appplications and documents. Go hire easily let's you conduct background checks on new hires with a click of a button.

Cons: As I stated above in the describe your experience section. The fact that getting a new employee synced in hotschedules after they have been entered into Aloha takes 24 hours is really a big inconvenience. For me personally, this has resulted in delaying the start date for new hires. I have documented about twelve different support requests to the support team to help get a new hire synced faster. I suggest maybe allowing admins to manually add employees to the staff list to help resolve this issues. Operating a restaurant with high turnover, it's crucial that new hire are able to start right away with no delay. This by far the biggest and only con that I can think of with this platform.

Overall: Making scheduling a less of an headache. Being able to focus on other aspects of managing my restaurant.

Excellent product and very good value for money.

Pros: It makes scheduling and internal communication easy. We find the store log feature very useful for recording daily operations.

Cons: The interface between Focus and Hot Schedules is still problematic. Standard report formats could be more modern.

Pros: If your employees fail to log in or don't interact, your dead in the water...we were hoping this would resolve the scheduling issues and workers exchanging schedules.

Cons: No check in qualities or alert systems as alternative to cell phone number, when you count on the cell phone only, you are limited.

This program was easy to learn and very user friendly.

Pros: What I like most about this software is that you can send your employees messages and post schedules that will go directly to their e-mail and/or text.

Cons: What I like least about this software is that it sometimes will glitch when I'm in the middle of a schedule and then I will have to go back and redo the entire thing.

Overall: The benefits that I get from this software are being able to put out a schedule in real time and get it to my employees in an effective way. It also benefits my employees because they are able to use it and make changes to their schedule if needed. The alerts are great!

It has been a great experience for us and has served its purpose of what we wanted to accomplish.

Pros: It holds employees accountable for days they need to request off and it allows switching of shifts among their peers without having to involve me.

Cons: I wish the system would alert all employees if an employee releases a shift. Currently, we require employees to send a message out to all after releasing a shift.

Overall: The main benefit is holding employees accountable. It puts the power in their hands if they need to request off for certain days. Also, if employees need to switch shifts, it allows them to do so without having to involve me (yet it insures the shift is covered).

Pros: The program is easy to understand and convenient to imput schedules. The set up is easy to read which is important. It's nice that there is a mobile ability to check things when you're not in the office. It's also nice to be able to send out emails

Cons: One challenge is that it's not easy to find log in if you've lost/forgotten your password. It takes a bit to find the area where you can reset the password

Pros: It has it all, for a price. They are so close to having everything that a restaurant would need to hire, onboard, schedule, manage shift changes, manager certifications, and communicate to all employees.
We never did integrate, because of the cost, but that would have been awesome to have the comparable metrics.

Cons: Their above store console is antiquated. It¿s not very user friendly and is in need of an update.
We we¿re also closed on Sunday, they can¿t remove Sunday from the scheduling analytics making it kinda weird.

We absolutely love the recent updates and new product features! Keep it up!

Pros: Scheduling, communication, log book are all easy to use, easy to navigate, well organized, and great products

Cons: I wish we could transfer partners from store to store keeping their existing log in sheets. Having a different log in sheet for each store can be confusing.

Pros: Everything available in one feature which is really useful, we can plan, and monitor our labour cost easily, overview the periods, etc. so everything in one app which is the best

Cons: We have to buy some addition app ( Web Clock ) which is not in the base app, we can't connect the Hotschedules to our POS system, so we have to type manually the daily sales for e.g. the schedules upload is a bit longer time what we expected

Pros: That staff can communicate together and alert a manager when they are in need of Schedule changes. It cuts down on the out of work communication between a manager and a managers and employees.

Cons: The set up of the software seemed to take way too long and was overly complicated to get our staff input into the system. That has led us to significant delays with using the software.

The app is not the best quality and not worth the money. I recommend my employees don't purchase it

Cons: Not what it was sold to be. Poor customer service. Poor product. Still waiting on refunds from Citi bank as hot schedules kept promising refund ' it never happened.

Pros: My favorite thing about the software is that the staff can see their schedule online, which results in less missed shifts.

Cons: What I like least about the software is the small font and lack of spacing in between the employees and times.

Overall: It allows our staff to receive their schedules without having to call the business.

Cons: availability is confusing to read. Employees can't see manager schedule unless they are put in as a manager. When scheduling employees with multiple jobs it is confusing to read. I could go on and on

Pros: Built for restaurants.
Over the time I have worked with the HotSchedules team they are fully engaged in making this the best product that they can.
The add on tools that they are building help drive our business.
They are true partners.

Pros: I like the accountability for my staff and the ease of managing shifts for a large crew. I also like the ease of managing time off.

Cons: The web page is slow and cluttered and doesn't allow for rapid change and bulk settings like i am used to. Also, lack of personalization to my business is frustrating. We normally did a schedule one month at atime and now are forced to do week by week.

Overall: Scheduling is easier once you get through all the set up stages, but administrative and with your staff. And the platform for communication between all staff members is nice to work with.

Pros: I like that I can see who is working the various shifts and it gives me their total hours for the week at a glance.

Cons: The app on my phone does not show if someone is off for the day or had a time off request, for example if someone calls in sick and I need to reach another employee to get the shift covered it does not show me if they are on approved time off. I have to log in through a computer to see that. It would save me time if there was a little symbol or something showing they are on approved time off so I won't waste my time calling them.

Pros: It makes scheduling a great number of employees all with different availability easy since they can set their own availability and put in time off requests on their own.

Cons: The app can crash sometimes, and can be expensive for some. Some of the features can be overwhelming and lead to useful features getting ignored.

Pros: The user friendly interface was not only a bonus for the user on the employee end but also for me as the administrator.

Cons: Some of the SCHOOX (TRAIN) product was too rigid for creative thought. It would be nice if the team was able to post pics from the mobile app so we can get real time photos and videos that could later be turned into training material

Pros: Features within the app are structured very well and it's easy to navigate. Keeps you connected with coworkers by providing you with all of their contact info and enabling you to cover shifts and keep in contact with everyone when necessary.

Pros: I liked how I could clock in remotely from anywhere, I didn't need to be at a specific location or be in range but it would have been nice to know where it "pinned" me for clocking in. A coworker recommended we use this as a means of clocking in and out.

Cons: It was very easy to forget to clock out, or clock out by mistake. It was a head ache for my payroll person to calculate our hours when this happened. I know I had trouble with little mistakes like that and it was hard to tabulate my actual hours and get an idea of what my paycheck would be. Ultimately, we decided to move to another app to track our hours.

Overall: For the most part, it was fairly straightforward and easy use. There were a few features I was told you could use Hot Schedules for but could never figure out how to do such as view my schedule or switch shifts with a fellow colleague. For a small staff it did its job.

Pros: Hot Schedules has streamlined our scheduling process. Prior to Hot Schedules, coordinating availability changes, time-off requests, and employee substitutions was a hassle that involved a lot of communication and email. Now team members are able to be more involved in the scheduling process and are able to view their schedule, submit time-off requests, availability changes, and substitution requests all from their apps, limiting the need for other means of communication.

Cons: The software can be a bit confusing initially for new hires. When onboarding people, there is usually a delay while HotSchedules is generating their account.

Overall: Our scheduling process was streamlined. Hot Schedules reduced confusion and unnecessary communication between management and team members regarding scheduling issues.

Cons: Expensive. They quietly lock you into a contract to pay them monthly fees, even after you learn that their software is terrible and does not help your staff scheduling duties. The installation took many days, and was filled with one problem after another. The product is overly complicated and confusing. THEY MAKE YOUR EMPLOYEES PAY FOR THE MOBILE APP!!!!! Yes, you read that right, your employees will have to pay to get the app. Another con is that you actually have to print up a page with the invite for each employee to sign up for the schedule app. There are many other options available on the web and for tablets.

Pros: I have worked in the restaurant industry and this allows for easy scheduling and payroll management for my employees and it's simple to use. Furthermore if you are using e-learning this software teams up well with Schoox *LMS* in order to provide courses for my staff. They can easily take their courses the day they start working because the system auto enrolls them into their courses while allowing them to know their shift schedule.

Cons: There's a bit of a learning curve associated with hot schedules because of the different options but it's great regardless.

Overall: Made me more efficient at ensuring that I ran accurate reports for the DM'S

Pros: The communication side of it is great. I have less meetings now that I can send out mass messages. The scheduler itself is top notch. I can move shifts around quickly using the quick keys and copying schedules is a snap. Having the freedom to do my schedule anywhere and being able to approve or deny schedule changes from my phone makes those decisions more informed. We use it to document all incidents good and bad on employees, so when an evaluation comes around you have all that information at your fingertips. It makes a great reservation scheduler. The roster report is the first thing I print out in the mornings to make sure everyone is here and where they are supposed to be and if they are not I have all the phone numbers on that sheet. The fact that it gives you the number of hours for everyone helps with creating budgets for the week.

Cons: My biggest complaint is that part of the expense for the is put on the employee. I know it's very little but some employees don't have a bank account or credit card and have trouble making the purchase. It seems to me that the revenue generated by that could be built into the cost of the software on the employer side.

Overall: The largest benefit was time management. I have a lot more time to do other things that improve our guest's experience, which is the bottom line of my job.

Cons: Billing is never accurate. Takes a long time to get fixed. The representatives change constantly. Take list functions and reporting are minimal. Task list are easy to build but not intuitive to assign.

Pros: As a server you can easily pick up an available shift that someone else can't work, and also release/post a shift that you cannot work in order for someone else to grab it.

Comments: What I enjoy about hot schedules is two fold. One as a training manager I can easily set this up with the schoox LMS. So any new employee added to hot schedules automatically gets assigned their courses within schoox. This makes it easier for restaurant managers to train their staff without any support from training furthermore, it allows them to personally control their schedules without needing to worry about how training/restaurant will communicate with one another. Outside of the learning component, hot schedules are easy to use and it offers a color coded scheduler designed to easily help you manager your daily or weekly schedules.

Comments: I have been using Hot Schedules for several years now, and I have to say it always pleases! In the service industry, the word "easy" is not usually thrown around. As a FOH manager, and a former FOH staff member Hot Schedules has always been super easy to use and super helpful! Also, implementing it into the restaurant was quick, easy, and the most affordable. The Hot Schedules team is always around to provide great customer service as well! If you are in the market for a new scheduling, labor tracking, (among many other things) service. Pros: Great reporting and review. Awesome scheduling at ability to forecast sales and labor.

Cons: Not much honestly. The customer service is sometimes a little hard to get ahold of, and during maintenance or peak hours it can sometimes be hard to access the servers.

Overall: Hotschedules has made scheduling and forecasting MUCH easier. We are just a small business and the service they provide for the value is outstanding. Scheduling takes hours less than it used to and being able to look at the sales, labor, and other projection really helps us. Great service!

Overall: I was a little hesitant steering away from y old ways of scheduling but the support and functionality made it easy. Completely switched over staff of 30+ in 2 weeks. Thanks HS!

Pros: What I like most is the scheduling. I can make a template of a schedule used commonly or start from scratch.

Cons: What I like least is probably more on my part, and that is that I find it to be a lot going on and I am not exactly technologically savvy. But customer service has always been great at helping me answer any questions that I have.

Overall: I love hotschedules. It has really helped me get my business running more fluid, not just for myself but for our staff. Especially when it comes to making a schedule and the ease of use for the staff. I wish Hotschedules had a way for us to incorporate breaks though. That would be very helpful.

Recommendations to other buyers: I wish that when making the schedule we had the ability to incorporate breaks without having to schedule staff for separate shifts. It seems to confuse them.

Comments: My managers are thrilled that they no longer have to make schedules in a spreadsheet. Switching shifts and distributing schedules is a breeze. Requesting time off is also much easier for employees. I'm thrilled they can now easily see how much they are spending on labor.

Comments: We recently purchased Hot schedules after reviewing many similar products, and are very pleased with the selection that we made.

The ease of scheduling, the control of labor cost,and the tools that Hot schedules has that allows management to spend less time majing schedules and more time developing the team.

Pros: online access, clock-in monitoring

Cons: Inability to update the template, having to resave a schedule instead of just adjusting the template. Having to put in the password all the time on my office computer. Need an option for a "keep me signed in on this computer and only ask for passwords when making a change

Overall: It really helps with communication with your staff they have the availability to check their schedule any time. You can also eliminate early clock-ins

Pros: Easy interface, easy to set up, great customer service

Cons: Cost of the app for smart phones, a lot of staff do not want to pay for it

Overall: We currently have four entities that use Hot Schedules. Each entity seems to get easier and easier to set up! Each representative that I have worked with has been friendly, considerate, and willing to answer any questions I may have. I was given documents on how to navigate the interface myself, along with a support team that has responded back to my inquiries in less than 24 hours each time. I would certainly recommend this product to others.

Pros: The ease of schedule making and the app for employee shift swapping and schedule viewing.

Cons: The fee charged to sign up for the employee app.

Overall: We were looking for a solution to training our managers in responsive scheduling. Hot Schedules gave us a ready made tools to do just that and even web hosting capabilities to focus our training efforts. Top notch!

Recommendations to other buyers: Improve the menu of POS systems you integrate with.

Comments: HotSchedules has revolutionized scheduling for our restaurant/bar. Templates make creating scheduling easy and efficient, but the biggest change is the ease with which shifts can be released/picked-up and swapped. What used to required endless calls and texts is now accomplished in a few quick clicks on a smartphone.

Overall: It has good points and bad points, but over all the tool is very useful. Sometimes getting into the program can be difficult, but once your in things are easy to navigate.

Pros: I love that this software is more comman than it use to be. Most employees hired have heard or used hotschedules which makes the transition alot easier. Communication threw hotschedules makes this program a must for any business that has a decent sized staff

Cons: Software is great however it is a little pricey for what it does. Dont get me wrong its great but just a hair high

Overall: I recently signed up for hotschedules for my business that opens up in March. The support staff was great and very knowledgable in questions I had for hotschedules.

Recommendations to other buyers: I have worked at enticing of other jobs that dont have enticing and know that they could benefit using your software . The only down size is the price and start up fees. The reason is that the price is a little out of range for people who havent used it and dont know its capabilities. I would recommend having more inticing deals to lure more businesses in so that they can see how awesome the software is then they wont be able to live with out it.

Pros: Easy to use

Cons: The availability hours seems to be glitchy and say someone is not available when they are. You also can't see what other staff is on your shift unless you download the app. Only the manager can see who is working

Overall: It's easy to get schedule changes out to the staff, notifications on the phone and especially because you can sync it to your Google calendar and your schedule shows up on your phones calendar!
