I used to have a part time job working on a home insurance company. It was easy to use the product (I learned in something like 2 days) and really helpful.

Pros

Explorer Shafers helped me to keep track of all the products that were in every home I managed in the insurance company. Our technicians were always on the field but the vans had different replacements for different versions of products. So ES helped us to save all the customer information.

Cons

There's no "smart" integration with some products. It will be great if the app recognizes when something stop working.

Pros

Easy to use for my staff , runs with zero glitches.nice full screen for dispatching and tracking techs

Cons

would like customer support billed hourly not with yearly subscription although i understand its part of business.

Quick streamlined accurate information. We get info from the field to the office and back to our customers quickly with this software. This also truly helps us to market to specific customers with specific attributes.

Pros

This software has everything you would want or need as relates to heating & air conditioning. They are constantly upgrading their product and implementing user suggestions into their software updates. It can be customized to each users' needs & priorities, and has more features than any one company could probably use. The best attribute that I can say about this software is their tech support is top notch and very responsive. They have worked with us through requests & issues over the years and continue to do so. We have recently began using their mobile platform as well for our technicians in the field. This has helped us to immensely stream line communications & follow ups with our customers which was sorely needed. I would recommend Explorer Shafers product to anyone that is looking for a complete solution to help their heating & air conditioning company grow & change with the times.

Cons

It has so many features & possibilities, that the set up and initial leg work can be tedious. It is not a cheap software program but I imagine part of that is because they continue to invest in research & development in their product to make it better. I also would say that to truly use all or most of the features that is available, it is probably better suited for mid size companies or larger that has multiple office staff workers to take advantage of the program.

I purchased Shafer's system in 2012 and used it for 6 years before finally walking away. It is a feature rich system and I had great hopes of one day fully implementing all its benefits into my company. There was a continual need for tech support. The support team was good but the issues were always there. Every software upgrade seemed to introduce as many bugs as they fixed. The final straw was when the software locked me out claiming I had no authorized access. I called tech support and was told I couldn't get their help until I renewed my support agreement for another year. I said I would pay per incident or per hour and they said that was not an option. The annual fee had risen per year, I dumped Shafer's and went back to my old software and company. Got a software upgrade to latest edition and a 3-year maintenance contract at cheap prices. Don't get caught in their trap, you will regret it eventually.

Pros

Feature rich and well organized visually. Loved the mobile application.

Cons

Only runs with windows. Lots of bugs and high cost for the service agreement. Trouble keeping static IP connection working.

Cytech has been using Shafer's since 1995, I have used the product for nearly 17 years. We've experienced the transition from DOS to Windows and implemented the Mobile Office throughout our service truck fleet. Having everything incorporated into one product, makes for easy flow and tracking. We utilize most modules and options. Some of the options we do not use are still in need of some updating/work for use within our company. The Mobile Office has been a great addition to our service department. There are a few things that still need to be fixed; such as an invoice retaining the bill to account and/or mailing address once it is sent back to the Back Office, taxes on a commercial service call and allowing service technicians access to history while on standby are a few. Overall we are pleased with the software and the staff is always willing to help work out the kinks.

The Explorer/Shafers software offers many different modules. One of features that is a big help to our company is that if offers accounting which includes the payroll function. Other modules are dispatch, inventory and flat rate which all work with our mobile devices. These functions help us safe processing time in the back office which is directly reflected back to the bottom line. It takes some time to get the mobiles set up after creating your flat rate pricing scenarios and time for the techs and office staff to get use to using it but our staff really likes it. We have used the program since 2007 and we have really grown to depend on it, and look forward to every update. The Explorer Staff is always willing to listen to new ideas and ready to help with any issues. We made the right choice in choosing Explorer/Shafers.

I've been a Shafers user for 4 years now and I like what it's capabilities are, however, not all of the functions work as promised. One is the GPS, it always shows 0-4 MPH when I know that a tech is going 55-65 MPH, also, the crumb trails aren't always available. Some of the drop down features are different than others, which makes ease of use tricky. There are glitches that need to be 'learned' in order to make quick data entry possible. Overall, I like the program, but the training books are outdated and very 'stuffy', making it almost impossible to avoid calling in to support with questions.

We have been using Shafer's for almost 20 years now. It is great that everything in incorporated into one product. Accounting, Dispatching, Quoting, Maintenance Agreements. You can create marketing campaigns and email reminders. Our service technicians have the mobile product in their trucks and they are able to see complete service history and print invoices from the field. Great Product and the staff is always wonderful to work with!

We are a longtime user of Shafers Software and are very pleased clients. We recently added the mobile office for our 6 technicians. It dispatches, invoices, imports into payroll, etc. It makes available to the tech in the field all the years of customer history. It will definitely benefit our customer service and profitability. The downside is the learning curve for the technicians. And there have been some network frustrations, but the software is meeting our expectations The best thing is the Shafers support team and their response time. The Shafers techs even calls our techs in the field to help train them.
