Pros: Interface Capabilities, Customer Service Levels

Overall: From the beginning of working with SMS Host, we have continuously evolved within the platforms. Through constant upgrades, service levels and open communication, my hotels have never felt out of date or ignored. Along with the great product and customer service, we find that interfacing with our CRS and Group products, we are always ahead of the game.

Pros: It's reliability and ease of use.

Cons: It is written in FoxPro, but it is about to change to SQL.

Overall: I have been a user of this software for 16 years and have watched it evolve over the years to a wonderful and robust product. I have used multiple PMS systems and I always compare them to this product. They keep me looking forward to what they will come out with next in their product development, with also selecting Product Advisory Counsels made up of users of the product that help determine the path for their different modules within the PMS. As for customer support; I have found with years of dealing with different products customer support, SMS' customer support has been one of their strong points for me and they strive to make it better for their customers.

Recommendations to other buyers: This is the only PMS that has a user's group conference that is run and hosted by the users for 26 years, with 4 days of training sessions, demos, one on one sessions and vendors. If you are going to be using this product, I highly recommend attending the Host Users Group Conference.

Pros: Versatility of configuration. Creativity to use fields that may have another intended purpose that we may not use, but we can use to fit our needs.

Cons: Ending the day.. However, that is because our IT department manages some back end processes that make it difficult.

Overall: Being a fairly unique privately owned resort has it's challenges. Finding a piece of technology that we can mold to the various needs and demands is essential. This year we expanded our waterfront to include a 60 slip marina. We configured the system to now be a multi-property system to allow SMS Host to manage reservations at our marina. I cannot think of another system that would allow the versatility to make this project happen!

Recommendations to other buyers: If you have the time and are seriously considering making the switch, attending the Host User Conference will provide a great overall view of the product and the user base.
