I started with Greenback who was bought by Dext. Their support is also good. Pros I like that I can bring in all of my sales on platforms like Amazon, Walmart, etc into my quickbooks. Cons What I dont like is that I have to bring them in in batches by clicking manually by batch which for 500 can take a bit to load, its good that you can select up to 500 at a time - that is great. But the bad part is that after say waiting to upload a batch of 500 then again and importing them, and you go to load another 500 it loses connection and makes you log in again, so then you have to wait again for the batch to reload and download again. So it does take time. But it is really overall a great product that accomplishes what a person could never do by themself. Would definitely recommend it and we always try get new clients set up on Dext. Saves having to be given folders of receipts when they can take photos on the go or at home Pros So easy to use as a bookkeeper and also for the client. The app is clear as well and easy to upload any receipts/invoices. It's more sophisticated than Hubdoc and better than Xero expenses as you can clearly allocate costs to people in and expense claim, without them staying in one big list. The AI and rule setup for suppliers is very clever too Cons The only thing is its duplication spotting. Most of the time it's great. But if I automatically receive an invoice via email and upload it and then a staff member also uploads it as they have paid for it it doesn't make it clear who submitted the other one. So I've found a couple times that I have it down as a company expense but having to double check that it's been paid for by someone else. While the software served it's purpose for many years I no longer have use for it. They have made it impossible to cancel the service and have just charged my credit card again. Totally shameful. The chat keeps telling me someone will be in touch but no one is. I will no longer be recommending it to clients. Cons Customer Service was basically non-existent. The platform allows me to easily take photographs of invoices, receipts and import email documents. I specifically like the integrations with platforms such as Xero, which allows a smooth and streamlined bookkeeping process. Using Dext significantly reduces manual effort as it captures all of the key information needed to complete financial tasks. The multi-client dashboard is especially beneficial as it ensures that I have all my clients in one place and can effortlessly switch between them and publish their receipts and invoices through to the accounting software. Overall, Dext performs extremely well at what its designed to do, it takes away a lot of the repetitive, time-consuming parts of bookkeeping and helps us stay organized. Pros What I like most about Dext is how much time it saves on day-to-day financial admin, especially when it comes to capturing and organising receipts and invoices. I can easily take a photo and have the data extracted automatically making the whole process effortless. Pros I absolutely love Dext. I’m a solo entrepreneur that gets busy and it’s easy to get unorganized with receipts. This program allows me to not only upload receipts and have its vendor, cost and account extracted then published to my QuickBooks account. You can also add that it’s billable to a client in QuickBooks and holds the photos so you don’t have to keep paper receipts. Cons This program is solid. Everyday i will log in and publish those invoices that my clients have put in which makes working a breeze. Say a client is out for business drinks they just snap a picture of the receipt and dext does the rest in terms of where to account. It has saved me so much time over the years and with the use of amazon fetch integration etc it has also saved my clients time too. A win win all around. The app also shows security through 2 Factor Authentication which the importance in this day and age is next to none. Pros Dext allows me to integrate many of my clients with Xero and for them to upload invoices seamlessly. My clients love the easy to use concept of it and allows bookkeeping to be done efficiently and effectively. The value for money per client is amazing for the features that are offered too. Cons Sometimes whilst doing workflows in Dext it is hard to see older workflows done for the same client i.e VAT returns this could be due to the update on workflows in dext however i may not be using the function to its potential. I have used Dext for many years and seen many software updates and improvements to keep up with technology and AI. Pros Dext offers excellent AI capabilities in recognising all aspects of documents uploaded. It is constantly improving this service. I automate all my incoming bills to go straight into the Dext inbox, using my unique email provided by Dext, this significantly speeds up processing and keeps my inbox clean and tidy. Dext offers great value for money and different levels of subscriptions depending on how many users you require. It is simple and easy to use so does not require a steep learning curve to get started. You can set suppliers rules and export straight to your accounting or approval software using automated population of various fields. Cons The thing I like least about Dext is not a lot. Cons The only thing is that sometimes it might not recognize well the images when I take a picture (the OCR) so you may need to correct the information manually after uploading. August 15, 2018 4.0 Pros I have been using Receipt Bank alongside Xero for at least 5 years now and I have tried the alternatives but for me RB is the best! It is easy, accurate and intelligent. Its super simple app alongside the emailing in, drag & drop, dropbox link etc makes adding receipts and bills easy so you are more likely to capture more items. The OCR works well and learns (it is however worth keeping an aye on things as sometimes it can go awry!). The supplier rules work well, it has a great user interface and is simple to navigate. I know that they do line by line splits on some supplier invoices and I would like to see that get more accessible. Overall Receipt Bank saves so much time and I think that they are still developing more and more features. I have had clients that hate it and there are a few nuances that you should pay attention to at the start but once you have it works brilliantly!! I have tried Datamolino, Autoentry and Xero direct for the day to day receipts & invoices but have always come back to Receipt Bank. Customer support has always been good, friendly and relatively speedy. I use Receipt Bank with all my clients - we insist upon it! Cons I would probably say the thing that comes up over again is the price (I argue that rather pay them that than me for data entry!) but maybe if there was a lower starting price? Accountant Accounting Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Dext Customer Service" August 2, 2022 4.0 My overall experience with dext was horrible, customer service was nonexistent, there is no phone number to call a person and when I canceled my monthly subscription well before the 15-day cancelation period, I was still charged for the next month. I received no response from my customer manager who was on holiday and was told I had to meet with the manager before I could cancel. This made no sense to me. Canceling my monthly subscription was one of the most stressful, time-consuming things I have done regarding an app, I do not recommend this app. Pros What I liked most about this software was it was able to import receipts Cons What I liked least about this software were the customer service and the price. Pros The AI behind this software is smart and adaptive. The OCR recognition can identify the debit/credit card used on a submitted receipt and match that receipt payment to the specific bank account in your accounting software so you can avoid sending payments to the wrong account. For accounting firms, the bundled pricing is a great value to share with your clients. It does not just push the data to your accounting software, but will search your transactions in the software to try to find matches and will sync up the payments with ease. Cons While they are doing good with the fetch option for online invoices (they can pull the statements and invoices from online billers, such as cell phone or internet), they do not have the capability, currently, to pull bank statements. Pros Capture expenses is really easy with Dext. As a team we use a combination of photos, for physical receipts, and emails where we just attach a PDF. Both methods work really well, and it takes away the pain of tracking expenses. Cons The accuracy for digitisation is excellent, however, it can be slow at times. To be honest though, I would rather it take a longer time to process and be accurate than being fast and inaccurate. Reason for choosing Dext We were recommended Receipt Bank, which became Dext, by our bookkeeper. We didn't evaluate other options, as the recommendation was made based on experience. The mobile app is perfect for tradespeople and those on the road. The dashboard feature is particularly useful to us a bookkeeping business as we can monitor that activity level of our clients as well as ensuring the correct uploading of their documents. Cons We have found ourselves paying over the odds for this software on behalf of clients whose business sees peaks and troughs in terms of activity and so some months can be charged at a higher rate because they reflect the previous month's activity, despite little to know uploads taking place in the month following. We would much prefer to pay for the software on a credit system whereby we pay for what we use. Pros Creates for a paperless bookkeeping practice. It is easy for my clients to learn and use, and keeps them out of the bookkeeping software. Cons Need a way for expense reports to be signed off on. Pros Receipt Bank promised a lot and delivered extremely poor service. It simply did not do what it said it would do. Cons It combines multiple receipts into one entry, entirely in error. It fails to recognise the currency of the receipt. It mis-reads the receipts - inputting incorrect numbers and names. It corrupts easily, locking a lot of entries inside the app but unable to generate a spreadsheet. There is no way to extract the data from the corrupted app, so you have no choice but to enter all the data again or create your own spreadsheet and enter it there. In all Receipt Bank was a complete waste of money and an enormous waste of my time. I strongly recommend anyone against buying Receipt Bank. It is easier to create an excel document of your own which you can run on your phone. If you want to you can add in drop-down menus to make data entry quick and easy. That is much easier than trying to mess around with the grossly faulty Receipt Bank app. Review Source Darcy W. Pros I use this daily. Ease of use is key here to minimise any further hassle from bookkeeping. RB is super easy to use, very quick to upload documents via the app or the desktop. Cons Possibly the rate of machine learning. I have used RB for the same customers sales invoices for over two years now, and the same mistakes are frequently made by RB's extraction. These are daily mistakes, possibly every other day. Customer Name is a very common one.
