"DCImanager helps SmartApe to automate the process of managing 1000 physical servers in two locations"

Overall: We use DCImanager to provide dedicates servers to end customers. At the moment, we have around 1000 servers, therefore, without an automated system, this is hardly possible. So DCImanager helps a lot. I can recommend the platform to anyone, who needs to automate and manage server infrastructure whether it’s a service provider or any other type of company with server room/DC.

Pros: Our company has two remote locations (two data centers). Thanks to the locations feature we can separate OS images for each location and not to drive traffic from one DC to another. It also gives us a single access window for both locations which is really convenient. The latest version of DCImanager has a modern user-friendly interface. It is very convenient and intuitive for both admins and clients. Hardware diagnostics and autoinstallation save a lot of time, making life easier for admins. We use integration with Cisco network equipment, sockets controlled (APC), and IPMI. Clients see traffic statistics, can reboot their equipment and connect to the console via IPMI. This is often extremely necessary for customers. DCImanager is natively integrated with the billing platform (in our case, it’s BILLmanager). If clients do not pay for the services, the servers are turned off. When services are deleted, the servers are automatically overwritten and disabled, traffic is transferred to the billing system for calculation.

Cons: I am not completely satisfied with the way DCImanager handled IP addresses management. I saw on ChangeLog that this feature was improved by the team in August, but hadn't yet had time to test the changes.

"Indeed, the best solution for automating server sales "

Overall: DCImanager has a full "gentleman's kit": full management of server, virtual and physical network, recovery and diagnostic templates, statistics and reports. Nevertheless, we especially like the way the product implements automation of server sales. We have integrated DCImanager with the billing platform so that customers could automatically buy servers with the necessary settings and configurations. Just imagine, our admins no longer need to manually diagnose servers, check settings and much more. The panel itself finds the right equipment for the configuration, installs the necessary software, generates client access and more. We began to save a lot of time on these routine tasks, plus increased our customer service, as the time from ordering to provisioning of the finished server was reduced.

Pros: Developers of DCImanager listen to the opinions of their users, adding the most popular and relevant features. Therefore, the product is always in line with the spirit of the times. In addition, I want to note the high level of related services, such as documentation and support services, they are not directly a part of the product, but the level of satisfaction with the product depends heavily on them. Thirdly, DCImanager has a cool API system, the documentation describes all the requests in detail, is easy to understand and implement them independently.

Cons: The product is new, and some features are still missing. However, we have confidence in this company, because we have been using the previous version of DCImanager for many years, and we are sure that the new generation will be no worse.

Alternatives Considered: Device42
Reasons for Choosing DCImanager: For us, the decisive factor was the functionality of DCImanager. Unlike similar solutions that only display information in the interface, DCImanager allows you to manage your equipment, for example: - servers power supply via IPMI and PDU, - you can assign server with an IP address from a physical network, - you can assign VLAN to switch ports, - In addition to viewing switches in the list, you can also enable/disable, poll and fine-tune them. The second reason is the simple interface. It is pleasant and intuitive, and can be understood by a novice specialist without much experience and the client who rents the server. It seems to be a small detail, but it saves a lot of time: customers are more likely to perform basic operations on their servers on their own and rely less on technical support, while new employees are quicker to learn and integrate into their work.

"a horrible experience"

Pros: Developer team with totally wrong logic, which does not listen the needs of their clients, the users of DCIm software. We have to deal everyday with the bugs which they do not want to fix because they think that those bugs are fine like that, but those same bugs are lowering performances of dedicated servers which leads at the end to cancelling of the service by the users, and creates bad reputation of the company. If you don't want to get in the trouble because of this as I did, run as far as you can from these inexperienced developers who don't even know what the RAID is.

Cons: a horrible experience with software and developers...

"Infrastructure base of our business"

Overall: DCImanager helps FirstVDS to manage thousands of pieces of equipment in two data centers with different network topologies. The platform automates dozens of work processes for us, including: remote management of servers, switches, PDU; control of equipment operation in 2 data centers from a single ecosystem; notification about the infrastructure problems; server provisioning automation; limited client access to servers. The DCImanager development team is attentive to feedback. The product regularly gets new features and improvements. It is also great that ISPsystem pays attention not only to the technical aspects of the platform but also to the UX. We have extensive experience with software for administrators and engineers - the DCImanager interface can be a good example for other software developers.

Pros: The most important advantage of DCImanager is its versatility and multi-vendor functionality. We don't have to use different software to solve highly specialized tasks. But I would like to especially highlight the set of capabilities for network management. We have 2 data centers. One DC for 60 racks with L2 topology. The second DC currently has 50 racks, 2000 servers, and 20 units of network equipment with L3 topology based on the Leaf-Spine architecture. With the help of DCImanager, we were able to combine these 2 data centers and now manage them from a single ecosystem. With DCImanager, we have the opportunity to expand the infrastructure conditionally endlessly without affecting customers. The quality of customer service has improved. We now have the ability to replace equipment without affecting customers. On average, a server is issued to clients in 10 mins, and this doesn't require an engineer's time.

Cons: We've been using DCImanager in our work for a long time. For this reason, at the moment we are simultaneously using the previous generation of the platform in one data center, and the new generation in the other. This imposes certain inconveniences - primarily for DC engineers. But given the plans of the development team, we plan to solve this problem by the end of 2020.

"Simple solution for managing infrastructure in different geographic locations"

Overall: All ISPsystem products integrate perfectly with each other. VMmanager, DCImanager, Vepp - all this is assembled into a single platform that covers most of the business needs for network software. Especially when managing serbers in different parts of the world. It is pleasent and conviniet to use the cpmpany's products due to a simple interface, clear logic of work and a competent support team. The development team greatfully receives feedback. Reasonable wishes and suggestions of users are taken into account and implemented by the developers. For example, in Q3-Q4 2020, the plan to add notification to Slack.

Pros: The most useful feature is the managment of servers in diffrent locations, in our casw a warehouse in China and 2 offices in Russia. The administrator does not need to be near the servers, it is enough to install the platform and all the information will be presented om a conveniet dashboard. There is no need to create an additional equipment inventoru system, everytjing is built into DCImanager. The platform provides management of the physical infrastructure, wich in turn is udes by us to manage warehouse balances, a cargo control system, a website, CRM, accounting and other services.

Cons: Some important features, including server power statistics, are still in development. However, ISPsystem presents a development plan in advance, and the specific terms can always be clarified with the sales team.

"I can recommend DCImanager to all SMBs with whether owned or rented server infrastructure"

Overall: DCImanager raises a bar for usability in the field of software made for IT engineers and DevOps and also gives the broadest platform functionality. Regardless of whether you manage your infrastructure located in the server shelf, room, or your own data center, or you rent dedicated servers from some provider, DCImanager can suit your needs. It helps to increase the speed of infrastructure management, save the administrator time and money by more efficient usage of the server infrastructure.

Pros: The platform gives you one interface to control infrastructure in different physical locations, racks, and even specific servers. There is no need to buy and then spend time studying software for inventory, installing templates, working with racks, networks, monitoring. DCImanager allows engineers to set up automation for global and daily routine tasks. We like to recommend DCImanager because it becomes a solid fundament for companies to manage infrastructure, primarily if the company uses physical servers, virtual machines, and web servers to host public projects. The developers of DCImanager (ISPsystem) have been on the market for over 15 years. The product is constantly developing. The team has experienced support specialists. All these guarantees that the infrastructure management fundament won't lose stability, and won't become obsolete, becoming a risk zone. The product also has a simple pricing policy that depends on the number of devices. Due to this, the product is attractive both for small organizations with 2 or 3 racks and for large corporations with hundreds or even thousands of racks.

Cons: Despite access to 24/7 technical support and extensive documentation, I want to get more training materials from the developer for self-study: case studies, training webinars, and video tutorials. At the moment, this is becoming more and more in demand for IT specialists.

"DCImanager is the solution which we were searching for"

Overall: Its the best DCI management software I have found. Specially for the support from ISPsystems who will become a top value partner for any business using their products. They are really good as their work and they are ever able to help you to use and integrate their software. With their help, we had all configured and integrated between them in less than 1 month. I really love this company and we are a proud client of them.

Pros: His top feature is the integration with IPmanager and VMmanager from ISPsystems, it allows us to have all our phisical and virtual infrastructure fully organized and check everything from one place instead of various sites without integration between them.

Cons: If you want to use the warehouse function you should pay a higher price and its totally neeeded to have a physical infrastructure fully organized and prevent any stock problem on replacements.

"A good solution for managing physical servers located in data centers across the world"

Overall: DCImanager is perfect for us to remotely manage servers located in seven data centers from different countries: Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, Latvia, Netherlands, USA, Hong Kong. The solution allows us to: - prepare servers for clients (cleaning, installing the OS or any necessary software, providing limited access to the server to the client); - prepare servers for the internal tasks of our company (websites and other services); - prepare servers for virtualization and the subsequent creation of VPS.

Pros: In addition to the fact that DCImanager perfectly copes with its main tasks, an indisputable advantage is its native integration with other solutions for service providers from ISPsystem. We use BILLmanager to automate server provisioning, to receive payments, and to provide support; VMmanager to create VPS based on physical servers. Starting, suspending, deleting the service and clearing the server from client files occurs automatically without the need to involve an administrator.

Cons: Considering that this is a product for administrators and engineers, at the start DCImanager is not the easiest software to learn. But after a couple of days of working with the interface, you already easily understand its logic and principles. Plus, everyone's support is in touch and ready to help.

"Great and easy to use"

Overall: I am overall very happy with the quality of the software. Customers are able to manage their dedicated servers easily with no issues.

Pros: I liked very much the integration with our existing billing system(HostBill) and the automation which it provides when provisioning dedicated servers. This allows us to save much time and focus on growing our business.

Cons: It may be difficult for a beginner to set up, but once you get the hang of it - it works really well.

Reasons for Choosing DCImanager: We chose it over NOC-PS, because it provided more features for customers and overall an easier way to automate setup.

"Nice, but not perfect"

Overall: We are using DCImanager for last 5 years. Software is pretty stable and helpful, but some things needs to be improved. For example, we have more complicated network design than developers planned, so all the network part should be done manually. Nevertheless, for its price (version 5.x) this is a good enough product. Version 6 will cost much more, so we will analyse market for alternatives first instead of blind upgrade.

Pros: DCImanager is very useful for regular routines - preparing servers for deploy, cleaning them after previous customers etc. Initial server setup and config detection are nice too.

Cons: Due to their pricing model, Warehouse module can not be bought separately, so we are using Snipe-it for this and it is better. Also, as I mentioned, all the network configuration can not be automated in our case. Next, some features are buggy for years, for example, if you have 2 same-sized HDDs and one smaller SSD, the panel will set up software RAID of small size with SSD and one HDD.
