### "Validissimo per sostituire Office"

October 21, 2022

5.0

Ottima esperienza.

### "Great alternate for Office software for the general user"

January 21, 2021

4.0

I use and recommend this application where an alternate to MS Office is needed. It's compatible with other file formats and checks all the boxes that I need.

Pros

Easy to use and similar in basic feature usage to other paid applications out there. Toolbars are easy to navigate and the application is very lightweight and simple to setup to get you going right after download and install.

Cons

UI and search options leave something to be desired and some additional features that one would be used to using in MS Office might be non existent or can be challenging to complete, but what more can you expect from a free tool.

### "A free alternative to Microsoft Office"

December 1, 2019

5.0

I think that it is a great alternative to Microsoft Office. I am using Apache OpenOffice only home, so I am not using it for complicated calculations or data analyzing. I am using it mostly to write a document or to read a document and it works great for me. In the beginning, we thought that we will buy later also a Microsoft license for our computer, home, but Apache OpenOffice does its job so well that we decided that we will stick to it. You do need some time to learn how it works, but many things are similar to Microsoft Office.

Pros

I am using Apache OpenOffice on my computer, home. I have Microsoft Office on my laptop and did not want to buy one more license. Having the option to have a free software that does everything that Microsoft Office does, it is a great solution.

Cons

Having been using Microsoft Office for a long time, it did get me some time to get used to Apache OpenOffice. The interface looks a little bit...old and I did have to look for information on how to do certain things that in Microsoft Office were more or less automated. But I guess this is only related to being used to do things in a certain way and when there is another way you need some time to get used to it.

### "Comodo ma forse pesante"

February 14, 2023

3.0

### "Alternative to Microsoft office"

March 15, 2021

5.0

I have had OpenOffice freeze in mid of work and the only way to solve the issue was to restart the pc. you can as well go to save and have the entire application shutdown automatically.

Pros

Free and open-source, it can do some of the tasks that are done by other professional software in its category but I would recommend choosing another if you want reliability and better performance.

Cons

Mostly on certain systems, you will encounter bugs that can cause you to lose or interrupt your work. The open office has other issues that can as well affect those you work with. It could be adaptable to some and absolute a nightmare to others. If you are familiar with Microsoft office don't think you will be able to use open office easily matter of fact it can be a very big problem to switch.

### "My Apache OpenOffice Review"

October 15, 2018

4.0

I never use MS Office since I knew Apache OpenOffice exists. It works flawlessly. Since it can be a downloadable app, I could use it on my PC everywhere I go.

Pros

Apache OpenOffice is the best free downloadable alternative for MS Office. It comes free and you could work MS office files on it. You could edit and create MS Office file extensions via OpenOffice. Nearly all the MS Office functionality comes with Apache Openoffice.

Cons

Some MS Office features come differently or not exist in the Apache OpenOffice. Plus, Apache OpenOffice has a little bit poor user interface comparing to MS counterpart.

### "Good open-source alternative for famous office tools"

December 24, 2019

3.0

It’s a solid option if the widely accessible online tools are not enough and you have a budget constraint to buy the competition. Also, it’s the default option if you use Linux.

Pros

It’s free, open-source and include several applications that are commonly required for office tasks, such as document and presentation editors, and a spreadsheet tool.

Cons

The interface is cluttered and very outdated. While it’s easy to use for those who are used to 90’s and 2000’s office tools, it’s not very welcoming for the new generation. Some functionalities are lacking and it nonetheless feels a bit bloated.

### "A good Free substitute for Microsoft Office"

November 7, 2018

4.0

This is good enough for the kids school work and what little I do at home. It is free so there is no cost to try it out. I have been frustrated at times with saving to Microsoft Office formats and not see the same result in Microsoft Office and also opening Microsoft Office files that did not come in as expected at times. Still it only requires a little bit of cleanup work for either scenario and is manageable to me.

Pros

It is free. It provides same suite of software as Microsoft Office with most of the same features or similar features. It can open the same file types as Microsoft Office.

Cons

It is not Microsoft Office. It sometimes messes up the formating of documents that were created in Microsoft Office and then opened in OpenOffice. Usually you can fix the formating and work from it but it is a bother. They have their own proprietary file formats. Also if you save to a Microsoft Office file format from OpenOffice you cannot be guaranteed it will look the same in Microsoft Office.

### "Open Source home office suite"

December 3, 2019

5.0

Very handy and convenient, no money pressure, open source community, and gets the job done! It also has a more homey feel.

Pros

I found and used openoffice when I didn't have or want Microsoft Office. I has a word processor, spreadsheet creator, as well as ways to create graphics and make calculations! Plus its FREE.

Cons

If you learned Microsoft Word and Excel in school, it takes a bit of transition to know where all the commands are - which can be a little frustrating if you're in a groove. But after a bit of learning, it does the job.

### "Price is the best thing about it"

November 16, 2021

3.0

When I first discovered OpenOffice it was a great alternative for Microsoft word and other Microsoft office products. It has all of the features you would look for in those products and is free. As time has gone on I have begun to use it less though. It has an old look to it and can sometimes be laggy. With newer alternatives out there like Google Docs and Google Slides it has become less useful.

Pros

Free alternative to all Microsoft office products. Can make text documents, presentations, spreadsheets, etc. Ability to export in many file types.

Cons

Has a cheap look to it. Is laggy compared to brand name product. Does not have auto mic updating. Has crashed on me before.

### "Office But Free"

November 29, 2023

5.0

Pros

Microsoft and Apache products are very similar overall. If you are able to work one you can work the other. And if you have never used either, both are quite simple to learn. Apache is 99% the same and can get all the same jobs done for none of the cost. Apache will even let you save in the formats that work with the other software out there. No internet connection, no problem with apache.. Its yours

Cons

For students, i do not believe it has a voice-over function and I have heard some horror stories overall about customer service-related issues. Knock on wood, I have not had to deal with that.

### "OpenOffice - Free Office Suite!"

March 17, 2019

5.0

Great price and easy to use. More people should try and use this software.

Pros

If you have used the office suite from the only other Office company you will be amazed that you can get a free alternative that does most of what the other company charges for. Almost all of the features that normal users need. It may be able to do advance stuff in Excel but do you really need these?

Cons

Nothing! It is not as clean and doesn't have some of the advance features a few users need. This is only a small group in my mind.

### "Best option for free Office Software"

October 3, 2018

4.0

Overall, this has been a great freeware option, and I also run it on all of my Linux machines by default. The programs, when compared to MS Office, are a little slow to load, but otherwise work in a similar fashion and have the majority of the features that come with a premium suite.

Pros

The price - it's free and has 80% of the features of other premium Office suites. And the features it does have are the ones I use most for the various document formats.

Cons

It lacks built in support for docx, pptx, xlsx, formats, so document compatibility between Open Office and MS Office can be a challenge.

### "A Bit Clumsy"

October 23, 2018

3.0

Given that I don't need anything robust and that I also don't have a particularly powerful hard drive, I tend to stick with online word processors. It is only on rare occasion that I will use OpenOffice and usually when I do I find my self frustrated and put off by the experience.

Pros

Apache is robust and feature rich. As a user I also enjoyed the open software element of it, knowing that I was part a community of users. Being able to do just about any word processing task that only the most robust, top-dollar, word processors would otherwise be able to accomplish, and doing so at no cost was a certain plus.

Cons

In my experience, Apache OpenOffice was clumsy. It was slow and often unpredictable. Another pitfall of Apache OpenOffice was that fact that it was a download operating, and taking up valuable space, on my hard drive, as opposed to on-line word processors. I have never been able to use Apache OpenOffice reliably on any of my tablets or smartphones.

### "Good alternative on opensource environments for report writing. "

March 21, 2019

5.0

Pros

You get the full office suite required to be productive especially if you need to be able to create documents on the fly whilst testing. An added bonus is that well known file types are supported. This allows work documentation to be able to be read on test environment or if your main system is linux. This product has Linux, Windows and OSX( Mac) support. System resources are used sparingly which makes this software ideal for dated machines.

Cons

Files are automatically saved but once corrupted, there is no easy way to recover. Other than that , there arent many cons to the product. Does exactly as its supposed to. Another tool to make static documents manageable.

### "Good compatibility has improved"

September 5, 2018

5.0

It is a great - free tool. I think it has come a long way, as I have used this for over 10 years as compatibility used to be a much bigger issue than it is now. You can easily export to different formats and have good overall translation to PDF and Word for most office documents.

Pros

I love that is free, I can do work stuff from home and it is compatible with Word on my work PC. Easy to download, install and use. Great freeware.

Cons

Translation from some files especially image heavy things, in Word and Powerpoint, are typically off a little.
