Google Docs is useful for quick editing, sharing, and accessing files across different devices, but I would not rely on it when the exact formatting of a document matters. I often find myself going back to Microsoft Word because it gives me more control over how my documents look.

Pros

What I like most about Google Docs is how easy it is to access my documents from anywhere and have my work saved automatically. Sharing documents and working with other people is also simple and convenient.

Cons

My biggest issue is that Word documents often lose or change their formatting when I upload them to Google Docs, which creates extra work fixing the document. Google Docs also lacks some of the editing and formatting options I regularly use in Word, such as convenient superscript and subscript controls and other advanced formatting tools.

Pros

It is a great alternative to word docs, it is easy to share with others and above all, we love the fact that it has the ability to let us share the links with other so the team can work on it all at the same time. Great cloud storage.

Cons

When we upload document from another platform, the formatting changes, and that is a bummer as we do have import other document in order to share and let the whole team see or work on .

Google Docs has become the backbone of how I work with documents daily. For drafting, collaboration, and managing shared documents across a team, nothing else comes close in terms of simplicity and reliability. It handles 90% of my document needs perfectly. The remaining 10% — polished formatting, large documents, complex layouts — is where it falls short, and for those I still turn to other tools. But for the vast majority of daily work, it's become indispensable.

Pros

Google Docs is hands-down the best tool for real-time collaboration. Having multiple people editing a document simultaneously with zero friction — no "file is locked" messages, no emailing versions back and forth — is something I rely on every single day. The suggestion and commenting system makes async reviews painless, and the version history has saved me more times than I can count. It's also completely free, runs in any browser, and the Google Workspace integration means everything flows naturally between Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drive. Sharing permissions are simple to manage, and the fact that everything auto-saves to the cloud means I've never lost work.

Cons

Formatting and layout options still feel limited compared to desktop word processors. If you need precise control over headers, footers, page breaks, or complex table formatting, you'll hit walls quickly. The offline mode exists but it's finicky — it doesn't always sync reliably when you come back online, which has caused a few headaches. Performance also tends to slow down noticeably on longer documents (50+ pages), and the mobile editing experience is functional but clunky for anything beyond quick fixes.

Everything from petitions to contracts and client memos goes through this platform now. The collaboration tools alone make it worth it, our associates handle the drafting, I jump in to review or leave notes, and clients can weigh in without us ending up with fifteen different versions of the same file. Considering the price, it’s become the backbone of our daily workflow.

Pros

I remember one client who had to look over a partnership agreement at 11 PM, right from his phone. He started adding comments directly to the doc while I watched, and we actually had everything wrapped up before his meeting the next morning. No emailing files back and forth, and no guessing which draft was the latest one.

Cons

Offline mode still catches me off guard sometimes when I'm reviewing docs on a flight. The formatting options feel pretty limited, though, we're drafting formal court submissions that need such precise spacing and numbering, and that can get really tricky. I’d definitely appreciate some better citation tools built right in instead of having to copy everything from separate research platforms.

Overall it's been a great experience. I wouldn't use it for iPhone except to just view a document. But otherwise, it's great to use and you can't beat the price of "free".

Pros

It's free! That is a huge plus. That and it has all the functionality of any other paid word processing programs out there. I use to make math tests and the ability to easily use its math oriented characters is extremely helpful.

Cons

Honestly I can't find one reason to dislike it. I think when I make a test, especially multiple choice, I think it only allows me to use letters, but if I want one question a check box, it changes all options to checkmark boxes instead of letters. Frustrating at times, but manageable.

i usually use google docs while making my research papers for academic purposes as well as during documentations of my product . As well its google so the customer support is very good

Pros

its the best collaborative platform for making documents such as word docs. As well it is one of the best word editor out there the automatic saving in cloud storage feature is my most favorite one also its free so easy to use for beginners that's just too good for product .

Cons

the formatting can be fixed sometimes during the creation of docs and adding images it just goes chaotic can be improved and also the ai feature can be improved as well

Very happy with the service and would recommend for the general user. I will use it personally. Not yet for business.

Pros

Its simplicity and being able to convert into other format makes it a great alternative to Microsoft Word and great value as it is free.

Cons

Some formatting issues, better for personal use, within my business too reliant on the Microsoft Suite.
