I have used it extensively for interview preparation, resume building, project documentation, meeting notes, and cross functional collaboration. I especially like the real time collaboration, commenting, and sharing features because they make teamwork faster and more efficient. Pros I use Google Docs extensively for interview preparation, resume building, and day to day work documentation. What I like most is the real time collaboration feature because it allows multiple people to review, comment, and edit documents simultaneously. It makes it much easier to gather feedback from recruiters, hiring managers, engineers, and cross functional teams without dealing with version control issues. I also use it to organize interview notes, prepare behavioral stories, track action items, and maintain structured documentation for projects and programs. It’s a world better than emailing files around like we used to.It’s free, and it makes working with people a breeze. It is what I use for all of my projects and I consider it the best writing tool. Pros As a product manager, I use Google Docs every single day in my work.It's been so useful because I just send one link to my team and we all work together. I see my engineers and designers typing at once. I don't need to save because it saves itself every second. It's basic and straightforward and I never have a problem using it. Cons But sometimes depending on the file that’s very big, it goes a little slower.When I have too many images or pages, it's a bit laggy. Also, the offline mode is confusing.When I’m on the road and forget to set it to offline, I can’t open my work. Too many times have I accidentally not saved a doc on Word and I get very frustrated. Google docs takes care of that. It also makes inserting and cropping so much easier to navigate. I am a PT and tend to put together a lot of HEPs for people using Docs - the ease of adding in picture and a text box makes my life much easier. Cons I feel like there have not been a lot of features that have been added over the last several years. I also enjoy the help with completing sentences as this makes typing faster. For a free application, you don't have to be an expert to use it - anyone can use it. There's a lot of articles online on how to use the software even if you have questions you can get answers on Google forum from their support. No bugs and issues so far. Cons I had issues with formating with regards to paragraph and phrasing. Formatting is quite complex as compared to Microsoft word. It's easy and has all of the usual tools you would want. You can add in extensions for extra things that you might want like rainbow font or different templates. Pros The best part of google docs is simultaneous and noncontemporaneous work. It's easy to see your own and other people's work. Sharing is easy. It's my favorite writing tool. Cons Some of the additional features are not very well integrated. PDFs tend to copt over into google docs well but some other file types don't open well as docs without first changing the file type on a different software first.
