Overall a great experience. It is very easy to use with affordability as a top priority. Would definitely recommend to a friend.

Pros

I like its plentiful features. It's very easy to use with very little issues. You can integrate it with Google drive which allows for easy syncing across cloud and local storage.

Cons

There's little to say that is bad about Google Docs, however it does at times have its bugs. Sometimes the auto-save feature does not work.

Switched from

[Microsoft Word](https://www.capterra.com/p/227146/Microsoft-Word/)

It was more affordable, and Google's support is better.

My overall experience with Google docs was a very good experience. I would definitely recommend this software.

Pros

What I like most about Google Docs is the fact that I could share a document with somebody else and they can make edits, but I could make it that certain edits weren’t accessed.

Cons

What I like the least about Google Docs is the fact that it didn’t have everything to make my document look as professional as I wanted to as some software companies.

Before switching to Google Docs, we were constantly emailing files back and forth. “final\_v3”, “final\_v3\_revised”, “final\_FINAL”. It got confusing fast, and people would sometimes edit the wrong version. Now everything lives in one place. One link, one version. Comments and suggestions are tracked properly, and everyone stays aligned. It’s saved us a lot of time and cut down on small but annoying mistakes. For a distributed team, that alone makes it worth using.

Pros

Real-time editing is the main reason we use it. Multiple people can jump into the same doc, leave comments, make changes, and you see everything happen instantly. No refreshing, no confusion about who edited what. Autosave is solid too. You don’t really think about saving anymore, which is a relief when you’re working across time zones. Sharing is simple. Send a link, set permissions, done. No need to mess around with attachments or file sizes. It also just works in the browser. I’ve used it on different laptops, even on a client’s machine once, and there’s nothing to install or configure. That flexibility matters when you’re working remotely.

Cons

Importing .docx files from Word can be frustrating, especially larger or heavily formatted ones. Tables shift, margins get weird, fonts don’t always match. You end up spending time fixing layout instead of focusing on the content. Offline mode is another weak spot. It works, but not always smoothly. I’ve had a few moments where syncing didn’t feel reliable, or changes didn’t show up right away once back online. Not a dealbreaker, but something to be aware of if you travel or work with unstable connections.

Switched from

[Microsoft Word](https://www.capterra.com/p/227146/Microsoft-Word/)

Honestly, it came down to the absolute mess of version control. With Word, we were constantly stuck in that loop of emailing attachments to the client or the team. By the time I’d get feedback from one person, three others had already made different changes to an older version of the file. It was a nightmare trying to merge all those "final\_v2\_edit" documents into one coherent piece of work. Switching to Google Docs just killed that problem overnight. Having one single source of truth for a project became essential for us. Plus, I move around a lot, and not having to worry if I have the latest version of a file saved locally on my laptop is a huge weight off my mind. I can just log in from a browser anywhere and everything is exactly where I left it. Word is still great for deep formatting or complex reports, but for daily collaboration, it just felt too clunky and isolated.

My overall experience with Google Docs it's fair. Ot get's the job done, it accepts most common text files, and can convert them to PDF.

Pros

What I like most about Google Docst is that it's compatible with Microsoft Office files, and that it offers PDF conversion.

Cons

What I least like about Google Docs is the available formatting, the way it implements foreign objects (pictures, graphs, etc) and the available list of fonts could be longer.
