### "Building with Firebase: Strengths and Limitations for Enterprises"

December 30, 2024

4.0

Pros

Google Firebase is a great tool for building and managing web and mobile applications. It is simple to set up and use, which greatly reduces development time. With features like Realtime Database and Firestore, they are very essential when building applications that require real-time updates and offline support. Since Firebase utilizes Backend as a Service (BaaS) model, it eliminates the need to manage servers, and with tools like Firebase Authentication, it makes it easy to implement secure cross-platform login options. The platform's ability to support cross-platform development is a win, this has allowed our Developers to simplify app creation for Android, iOS, and the web. Having Analytics and performance tools, especially Google Analytics and Crashlytics, they provide important insights into user behavior and app stability, helping our Developers make informed decisions and resolve issues quickly.

Cons

At times it feels like using Firebase ties you to the google ecosystem, We have noted it creates an over-reliance to other google services and might pose a challenge if you need to migrate your services to other platforms.

### "Firebase: The ultimate BaaS"

November 30, 2024

4.0

Firebase is a good choice for many projects, especially smaller ones. It's easy and quick to set up and use. The real-time database and authentication features are particularly useful. Smaller projects benefit from this tremendously, however the cost of this service may be too high for some projects.

Pros

\- Easy to use and integrate into projects - Real-time connections and a NoSQL database - Provides many helpful tools like authentication and cloud storage - Works well with Google's ecosystem - Has a rather generous free tier for small projects

Cons

\- The security rules are limiting and feel ambiguous to set up - Expensive for medium-to-large-scale projects - Some features (e.g. full-text search) require third-party services - Limited querying capabilities in the database (and no data relation option) - No self-hosted option

Alternatives considered

[Appwrite](https://www.capterra.com/p/10021296/Appwrite/)

Reason for choosing Firebase

We have chosen Firebase in our team especially because of it's larger community and corporate support. Also the fact that it has more functionalities than Appwrite/Supabase/Pocketbase helped a ton.

### "Good for Hobbyists - Product in infancy"

December 6, 2019

3.0

This was good because the client then didn't want to pay for an SDK tracking. However in terms of usability and scaling for larger, business campaigns, this is not recommended. If you're a hobbyist delving into apps and SDKs for fun, this is a great platform.

Pros

It's free and a good introduction to SDK, environments and requirements. It also is great if you're on the google stack, as it easily imports into other ad buying platforms like google ads, which is great. Has some integrations with networks, which also is great since it's also free for use

Cons

Highly limited support - don't expect to get any. If you're on the free plan, very limited functionality. You can't even get CSV user reports. Everything is on and limited by the UI. This apparently changes if you're on paid, but the free experience not the best. No integration to other competitors like Facebook, etc

### "Really useful with a very generous free plan"

December 16, 2024

5.0

My overall experience is really positive and I love the very generous free tier plan.

Pros

What I like most is Firebase Authentication. It's powerful and easy to setup on any project.

Cons

I really hope that one day Firebase will implement a nice CMS system that will be connected directly to Firestore or another database system.

### "Firebase integrated in marketing strategies"

May 30, 2024

5.0

I recommended a lot of simple, growing, starting, and scaling projects to my fellow developers. Its pay-as-you-go is pay-as-you-go. Having hosting, database, authentication services, and everything coming from Google Cloud makes it a perfect one-stop solution for any project you are working with.

Pros

Having everything in the same place is always satisfying. As Firebase and Google Cloud become a must-have in current serverless implementation, it is excellent to find Firebase getting the love it deserves regarding functionality. The documentation is top-tier, and the connectivity with any other platform you use to store, share, or send data makes it a breeze to use Firebase.

Cons

The dashboard interconnection with the Google Cloud panel is unfinished, so you must jump between multiple screens to find the necessary information. It is there in the same platform and architecture, but it takes 3-4 clicks to get to where you want to be.

Alternatives considered

[SendGrid](https://www.capterra.com/p/204113/SendGrid/)

Reason for choosing Firebase

I was using this platform to send emails, but Firebase suddenly created an extension to create an SMTP server as easily as possible. Connected with your already-known Google account and having everything in one place just made the difference.

One Signal was a perfect option when I had multiple platforms and services for my mobile and web projects. Still, since I started to manage hosting, databases, and many more architecture technologies, I decided to have everything in one place to make it easier.

it´s okay, i didn´t have issues or bad things to report,

Pros

It has a good documentation, and provides many feactures for free, ideal if your starting a new app or bussines and don´t have a lot of money to get stated, so obviously have the best integration with google products

Cons

a SQL database is needed in firebase, i know it exists en google could, but it would be a great differences against other products

### "A fantastic all round realtime app hosting solution"

May 25, 2022

5.0

Some of the apps that I have worked on, required items that Firebase offered natively such as realtime communication. I recently needed to build a messenger app and with Firebase, I only needed to configure worry about my front end code. The networking that would normally take weeks of additional work was taken care of by using the realtime database along with the authentication system. I have started to use Firebase as my main data storage for all mobile apps that I make and I relay that data with ease to their respective websites using the various bridges that Firebase have given. In particular, their PHP implementation has been very straightforward to work with.

Pros

Simple to manage and lightning fast, Firebase is great at providing all the infrastructure you will need to host your application. Its realtime document storage method of handling document works like magic and when paired with the built in user authentication options, it can cut down your development time tremendously.

Cons

The only real issue I had with Firebase would have to be the documentation on the auth rules for Firestore. If there is anything more than a simple authentication procedure required, it can be difficult to work out how to develop those rules as there was very little information out there that I could find on this particular part. However, once I had this part worked out, the system worked well.

Reason for choosing Firebase

No other platform I looked at had as many features as Firebase. MongoDB or Couchbase were just database solutions, whereas Firebase offered so much more.

### "A backend-as-a-service that is easy and affordable to get started"

April 30, 2021

4.0

Firebase has been stable and fast, the end-user experience with Firebase Authentication is also good. Getting started is relatively easy for typical usage, by following the tutorials. Some customization is supported. However, if there are edge cases or scenarios not directly supported by Firebase documentation, it is quite challenging to find alternative approaches or solutions.

Pros

Provides a lot of backend features for developing mobile and web apps, provides free plan with generous limits.

Cons

There is a certain amount of lock-in because most features are using proprietary Firebase APIs and protocols. When using Cloud Firestore, you need to be careful with access patterns, as costs can grow much more than you expected. But with appropriate access patterns and engineering strategies, Firebase services are cost-effective.

Switched from

[Meta for Business](https://www.capterra.com/p/213257/Facebook/)

At that time, we switched from Facebook since Facebook Login because Facebook was treating our domain as untrusted for no reason, and we did not get any response from Facebook Support in order to restore access. It did take a lot of effort to migrate to Firebase, but during our time with Firebase we experienced no downtime or issues.

### "is Firebase better for mobile/web apps development ?"

May 6, 2022

4.0

So far i've been really enjoying working with firebase as an android apps developer because of some amazing features that it has, for instance the firebase authentication, it's just the perfect backend plateplatform for me

Pros

well, it's actually crazy when i think about this, and there is quiet more to consider as its pros, for its reliability cause it's fast and safe, the easy google analytics, and moreover it's " free " for small projects or newbies

Cons

the disadvantage with firebase is that cause it's google product they tend to emphasize more on the android documentation, so it's quiet easy to work with as newbie if your project is android centered, because unfortunately there is less support for IOS

Overall, Firebase has been a reliable platform for building and scaling apps quickly. It’s flexible, powerful, and great for getting projects off the ground real quick.

Pros

Firebase makes backend development fast and efficient. I like the real-time database, it has easy authentication, and seamless integration with other Google tools.

Cons

I'm still in my learning phase with firebase but it can get expensive as usage scales, and some advanced features require a learning curve.

Pros

amazing tools, incredibly fast online interface, allowing us to address difficulties head on, pretty nice UI, monitoring capabilities that are also quite slick, and it's probably the finest out there for straightforward push notifications without complexity and easy g-suite integration

Cons

### "Firebase: The All-in-One Solution for Web Development and Deployment"

January 24, 2023

4.0

Firebase is a reliable and user-friendly platform for hosting and deploying web projects with a comprehensive set of features, a cost-effective pricing model, and easy integration with other tools. However, I notice limitations in terms of customization, scalability, engagement tracking, reporting/analytics, customer segmentation, and A/B testing capabilities. but I can say these limitations are not unique to Firebase

Pros

Firebase is generally considered to be a powerful platform for web development and deployment that offers a wide range of features that can be useful for building and deploying web applications. and it makes it easy when I use a real-time, cloud-based NoSQL database that allows for easy storage and retrieval of data for web applications.and an easy-to-use authentication system that supports multiple authentication methods, including email and password, phone numbers, and social media providers like Google, Facebook, and Twitter.

Cons

This is really annoying. it has limitations on the level of customization that can be achieved, and that it may not be suitable for projects with very specific requirements.

### "Agrxis Review on Firebase"

May 14, 2023

5.0

I've had an amazing experience using Firebase. From the ease of integration with my apps to the array of powerful features available, Firebase has exceeded my expectations in every way. The real-time database, authentication, cloud functions, and hosting services have been particularly useful in simplifying and enhancing the development process. Additionally, the comprehensive documentation and excellent customer support have made using Firebase a seamless and enjoyable experience. I highly recommend Firebase to anyone looking for a reliable and efficient backend solution for their apps.

Pros

I adore Firebase for a variety of reasons. Its simplicity of usage is one of the things I appreciate most. Building and managing a range of applications, whether they are for the web or mobile, is incredibly easy with Firebase. In particular, its real-time database, cloud features, and hosting capabilities are amazing and simplify development. Additionally, Firebase offers great analytics tools that enable me to watch app performance, understand user behavior, and make data-driven decisions to enhance my apps. Overall, Firebase is a fantastic app development platform that is simple to use, has a wide variety of functionality, and is a great option for both seasoned developers and newbies.

Cons

I have thoroughly enjoyed using Firebase and have not encountered any major issues or concerns. The platform is intuitive and easy to navigate, and the documentation is clear and helpful.

### "Easy-to-use platform as a service, but expensive"

December 10, 2023

4.0

Firebase was a great first platform, but for my usecase I ended up outgrowing it pretty quickly. It's great if you're building for native mobile.

Pros

Extremely easy-to-use APIs, and out-of-the-box authentication and offline-database features to make bootstrapping an app super easy.

Cons

Extreme vendor lock-in, heavily mobile focused with very few features suitable for web and hybrid applications and preventatively expensive scaling

### "The all in one package"

March 14, 2023

5.0

You would employ a tool like Firebase when you had no other choice. In this market, there isn't much competition, and Firebase does the trick. So as you struggle to make it all work, be prepared to cry a little bit internally. It is being integrated with ready-made apps because I have no other way to receive push notifications for my own apps. Yet Firebase has a much wider range of applications. Naturally, this is another factor in its tremendous complexity. With the versatility it offers, this might be utopia for developers. Others... nevertheless, don't... If you want to build a custom app, you probably have the money to employ a Firebase specialist to help you integrate Firebase and make the most of it. Like me, if you're making smaller apps with prebuilt tools, you might merely incorporate Firebase minimally out of need rather than actual choice.

Pros

Tracking user engagement: Firebase enables developers to monitor user activity within their apps and learn more about how users connect with them. Firebase provides developers with event-triggered actions, which let them carry out particular tasks in response to user activity within the app. Customer segmentation: Firebase enables developers to divide their user bases into groups according to parameters like engagement, behavior, or demographics. This enables more focused and successful user communication. Online notifications: Using Firebase, developers can send users push alerts even while they aren't actively using the app.Tracking conversions: Firebase enables developers to keep tabs on important statistics like in-app sales, subscriptions, and sign-ups. A/B testing: Firebase enables developers to test various iterations of their app to determine which performs better. API: Developers may simply integrate Firebase with other services and tools thanks to Firebase's feature-rich API. Reporting and analytics: Developers may learn more about user behavior, engagement, and income thanks to Firebase's powerful reporting and analytics tools.

Cons

The fact that some of Firebase's sophisticated capabilities can be pricey is what I loved least about utilizing it. The cost of the service is based on the amount of time the customer spends on the website. Firebase, however, allows developers to select the services that best suit their needs and budget because to its straightforward pricing structure and many of its services' free tiers.

### " Easy, affordable and reliable"

May 5, 2022

5.0

We significantly reduced our setup and implementation time for new projects, added more security to processes and modularized several development steps, with a visible benefit for us and our customers who were very satisfied with the results.

Pros

The Firestore database is fast and easy to use. The authentication system is a gem that gives you several ways to register your customers (even anonymously) on all the main platforms on the market such as google, apple, facebook, etc. You can set up two-factor authentication for your online accounts with sms confirmation at no cost with a generous free tier. It's easy and (in most cases) simple to use and we've been using it for many years.

Cons

But he's not perfect. Documentation on some features is fragmented and not always easy to read. Some examples don't work as well as they should, especially in cross-platform apps. There are some usage and response time limitations that do not compromise performance in small and medium-sized applications, but can pose a problem in large-scale applications. But overall it's a solid and reliable tool.

Pros

From the authentication system, which is super complete and secure, to the nosql database, Firebase is a complete product that has served me for years without ever letting me down. It's easy to integrate with any tool and meets almost every need.

Cons

Because it is a classic and traditional tool, sometimes features that exist in other products take a while to be incorporated, but when that happens it works very well. The tool's design isn't the most attractive either, but it's robust and functional.

### "Inmensely value service for a startup"

April 28, 2020

5.0

In general, I am extremely happy with Firebase as it has given me almost ever resource I needed to build my app.

Pros

Firebase provides almost everything a startyp would need to build a cloud based application. A instantly syncing nosql database, user auth, static hosting and cloud storage, among other things. And you can us all of this stuff for free until you reach certain usage tiers. It's a startup's dev team dream made true

Cons

There are a few cons. When it was bought by Google, all the software libraries were updated considerably. And older versions stopped being supported in a matter of weeks. We were forced to to change all our data access code to adapt to the new libraries. It was very abusive from my point of view. Another con is some of the support people at Firebase are really arrogant and fail to understand that their customer can have widely different needs and use cases from what they assume.

### "This is the absolute best real time database ever created."

March 28, 2018

5.0

This is the best software for all developers be it mobile, web or desktop based applications. Its is very easy to use and understand and it outputs the best results. This is best software to use when it comes to back-end development. I would highly recommend it to all developers.

Pros

Firebase is a very responsive. Uploaded data is pushed to client devices in real time, this saves a lot of time and resources. Offline client devices are updated on uploaded data once they go back online. Data is structured in a simple understandable manner. The free version of the software is as good as premium versions.

Cons

In data structures, the developer cannot nest data in more than 4 levels without running into multiple issues on retrieving the data. There are limitations on number of simultaneous connections when it comes to the free version. For the free version there are also limitations on making external queries, hence filtering the data from the server side becomes an issue.
