Manifold GIS Reviews
"Best possible option in GIS, spatial analysis, works faster and better with big data, than any one."
Overall: I have been using Manifold since version 4.5, now on 9. Its a superb application. Its development teams listens to the community, which is awesome and very quick sometimes. Its easy and short learning curve is key to implement to customers. I have migrated many customers from Arc based deployments, in such short time, that even the clients are surprised. From implementation to fully operational in a few weeks, training is hands on and even the most reluctant arc users, see the easy ways of Manifold and the improved performance and time consuming of certain operations, are eye opening for most. Plus price is an absolute decision breaker. If you need savings and performance, Manifold is the choice. My company has used it for over 15 years now, very happy with it.
Pros: Most useful feature is the connection capabilities into data bases, the ability to import almost any data source, and the performance with big data is extreme. What it takes hours or days with others, takes minutes. Test it, they even have a free viewer fully operational. The software has everything built in, no extra modules or extra costs for important key features, its a whole different paradigm, in the GOOD WAY.
Cons: For map making use version 8, for the rest (analysis, big data, ultra fast computations, real SQL and scripting) use version 9. Both are the best option of classic GIS and modern high end data science and data management software for spatial data. Just tested and see it for yourself.
"Manifold provides familiar functionality to large GIS applications with greater speed and less cost."
Overall: I was able to accomplish school work with greater efficiency. The ability to connect to the PostGIS database to query records was great.
Pros: I like the ability to work with large data sets without the software bogging out or slowing down and becoming unusable. We tested query's with over 10 million records to get results in under a minute and sometimes in seconds. That's power!
Cons: The user interface is not intuitive enough. Many of the icons and graphics appear dated. There could be a overhaul in streamlining workflows to make the user more aware.
