Every product requires good suport, the account management team are super responsive everytime I have needed them and the technical support is 2nd to none. Pros Solid product that offers similar features to the market leaders at a better pricepoint, all backed up by a great support channel. Absolutely fantastic product. Cons The product has very little not to like. Every time I think it would be nice to have this or that, its like they read my mind and the feature is coming in the next release. Their development team are very much in tune with real world needs. The product just seems to get better with every iteration. Nakivo is easy to deploy and light weight on requirements. We were able to deploy it without the need for a dedicated backup server Pros Value for money it is. At cost lower than others, Nakivo can do what other known backup solutions can do. Easy to setup and manage with no complicated requirements. It supports backup to Cloud S3 unlike the traditional solutions which will require you to buy another license, Any storage type is also supported and also the backups can be immutability and can be scanned by your endpoint security before restoration. The support is good and will walk you thru on the setup process if you find it difficult and also the keybase for FAQs is helpful Cons You might need support if the setup is complicated for you. You can do everything - setup, scheduling, recovery, and monitoring - straight from the browser. I couldn’t find anything close to that in the open-source world. It’s also super easy to maintain and troubleshoot. The logs are clear and detailed, and the docs actually make sense (which is rare). I had a working backup for my Linux server in under five minutes, even without knowing the product beforehand - that’s how straightforward it is. Cons The only downside is the price, which can feel a bit steep if you’re just using it for a home lab. But considering how solid and long-term the solution is, I’d say it’s totally worth paying a bit more for peace of mind and ease of use. This service is available after purchase as well. You want training for new employee's schedule for an engineer and they connect and go over all features with you. Pros NAKIVO engineers connect with you and go over your install and configuration and can schedule this free service any time after install to go over anything you have questions about. My biggest pro is you can go from texting support in the program or website to having a tier 3 engineer connecting to your computer to help with any issues that arise in minutes not hours. Cons No Cons as of today, have had couple errors that popped up and support was connected and resolved within minutes. The product has evolved over time from a cheap and simple VMware backup solution to a backup suite providing a lot of options and features. We have successfully deployed instances of VMware backup, replication, WAN replication, O365 backup, physical workstation backup, replication to amazon and multi-tenancy. Pros They provide great support. Over time when we had issues they always went out of their way to provide satisfactory solutions. It is very easy to setup and use regardless of the size of installation. They still provide an affordable product and I believe you definitely will get your money's worth. There is a lot of active development and not only toward new features, but also in improving stability and performance. They try to get feedback from their userbase when planning for new features. Cons We have had problems with file level recovery on large (>1 TB) XFS file systems. Space reclaim of backup repositories is slow, but has been improved recently. Creating, editing and restoring jobs is no problem at all. Pros Nakivo is a very user-friendly backup solution. Installation is no problem for a reasonably trained system administrator. The use is more or less self-explanatory, but of course there is also a very good manual and an equally good knowledge base that leaves nothing to be desired. Nakivo does not require a lot of CPU/Memory and can be utilized on Synology backup solutions that do not include Active Backup for Business. Pros Other competitors' products are all subscription-based, whereas Nakivo is perpetual and packed with features found in enterprise backup solutions. Nakivo supports Hyper-V and ESXi without additional fees, and the enterprise version of Nakivo allows you to back up desktop workstations, encrypt backups, compress, duplicate, and back up to the cloud (google archive, wasabi, azure, aws.) The UI is simple and straight forward best of all Nakivo assigns a technician to provide you with training without additional costs. The software is intuitive and simple to pick up. Cons Downloading and applying the correct update for the system. I found it difficult and had to download multiple before landing on the correct update. Pros The availability of friendly and helpful support staff. Along with the versatility of the software in virtual and "bare-metal" environments, what gives me the most peace of mind is that I know I can always rely on a support team to help me when there are problems I cannot solve just by consulting the help pages. Cons Sometimes the documentation is not very clear to me - but again, support was always ready to step in and help when I couldn't make sense of the knowledge base. One addition I would like to see is to be able to encrypt data before it reaches a public cloud repository. This is unfortunately only possible in a few situations, and generic object storage is not among them. Reason for choosing NAKIVO Backup & Replication It is the most versatile solution. Installation is incredibly easy. It runs on linux and there are pre-compiled versions for a vast array of platforms. The web GUI is excellent. Not only can it work without agents for many platforms, but it also runs on linux hosts instead of being Windows-only.
