You have to hand it to these people on multiple levels for their software and its features to ease of use and their support and updates are second to none. In the last couple of years I have pushed NAKIVO to many other people and not one of them has said anything different from myself since implementing their solution. Pros This software is so easy to install, setup and use. We were up and running within 30 minutes of getting the software. Cons There is nothing not to like it just works. The Pro's far outweight the Cons. Especially as all of the Cons were related to my understanding and techincal proficiency with Linux. We migrated to NAKIVO from VEEAM and are glad we did. Overall it's easier to use than VEEAM Pros It's a low cost highly efficient backup of our VM server environment with file and disaster recovery. NAKIVO tech support is also excellent should you run into issues. As in they're fast to respond and their techs are highly efficient. In addition the later versions have a much more logical and intuitive GUI Cons Did have some issues getting my head around how to deploy it with their "Transporters". And I needed tech support to add a Linux based NAS as the repository. However in fairness, I'm not very good with Linux administration. Review Source Pietro C. The product would auto update itself and never broke or had any glitches.It would connect to our NAS via SMB and NFS supporting all our scenarios.In our several years using the product it provided us with nightly, incremental backups of our VSphere cluster and in the few cases we had to restore a corrupted or broken VM it worked flawlessly. Pros Nakivo is a cinch to setup and supports just about every deployment we could think of from Synology, to VMware OVF to a Raspberry Pi.In our use we ran it on VMware and Synology Rackstation's without issue. Cons Nothing, honestly it does everything we needed it to do. Esto significaba eliminar un servidor con los costes que ello conlleva, (licencias de Sistema operativo y de protección, consumo eléctrico, etc). Además de resultar más económico, nos simplificaba tanto la puesta en producción como la gestión por ser muy intuitiva. Hasta el momento no hemos sufrido ninguna pérdida de información que es lo más importante de este servicio. También nos resulta atractivo el constante desarrollo de mejoras continuas que tiene el producto. En resumen Nakivo es una utilidad de Backup que puede competir perfectamente con con las aplicaciones más conocidas y desplegadas en grandes multinacionales (solo habría que comprobar compatibilidades con la infraestructura), pero que además gracias a sus precios es asequible para cualquier tipo de negocio, tanto pequeñas como medianas empresas, poniendo al alcance de una PYME, la seguridad con la que podría trabajar cualquier multinacional. Director Real Estate Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Fast backup and clean, easy interface" November 4, 2021 5.0 Having previously used Unitrends, when that crashed unrecoverably a few months ago, their support weren't willing to provide any help so I looked around for alternatives. As we use a Synology NAS, I found Nakivo would run native on that, allowing me to remove the bloated Unitrends server from our ESXi host. Unfortunately with the very limited memory in our Synology it rather struggled once Nakivo was installed so we ended up adding the Nakivo VM to our ESXi host which runs like a dream. The Nakivo web interface is MUCH simpler than Unitrends. At first I was worried it wouldn't do what I wanted in terms of setting up daily backups, retaining weekly backups for a month, monthly backups for a year and replicating everything to an off-site archive for additional security. It took a while to get my head around how simple the interface was compared to Unitrends but then it was easy to set up the schedule and replication I needed. It felt too simple so I was a little concerned whether it would actually do it but having been using it for many months now and having done test restores from both the live backup repository and the archive repository I'm fully confident it's doing what it should. The most positive benefit however is the speed of backup. Our weekly full backup used to take 4 hours using Unitrends, now it takes under an hour on exactly the same hardware! Similarly the daily incremental used to take 30 minutes now it takes about 6 minutes. Pros The best thing about this software is the ease of use and peace of mind. You can schedule backups very easily, Everything runs fast & smooth, Its been running here for over 3 years without a single problem. Updates are pushed easily, Verification of backups is also amazing. And the best part is it intigrates with Hyper V and when restoring a backup of a virtual machine it automatically imports it into hyper V and everything works perfectly. Windows Server Backup utility is unreliable compared to this. Cons One of the things i liked least about this software is when an update was pushed one of the servers we had didnt receive the update and needed some quick troubleshooting, but their customer service team was able to help out within the hour and was amazing and very helpful from the first reply. Cons One negative point is the choice of version and the change of options over time. The features of the versions have changed over time, but on the other hand, the support service finds appropriate solutions. Like other programmes, you often have to upgrade to the next version for a single feature. As a smaller company the subscription based softwares end up being much more expensive in the long run. Pros I liked how fast it is. Backing up a virtual machine, even offsite and doing it encrypted, is very fast. It is pretty easy to use once you get a feel for how it works. The email alerts are also very helpful, I can leave Nakivo unattended so it just runs on its own and simply monitor my email for alerts on if the jobs were successful or not. Their support is very good as well if you need help. Cons Updating can be a real hassle. It depends on your environment though, but with me updating my NAS transporter version ended up turning into a much bigger process than I had anticipated. Their support was able to get me up and running again, but still I wish it was easier to update on my own. September 7, 2022 5.0 I use Nakivo Backup & Replication to backup 8 VMs which are distributed on 2 physical servers. Daily backup is done on a different storage, I've do a restoration test of many files and these datas was restored without any problems. It seems exceptional to me since I have had support from the technical team, something not seen in other products and this feature is UNIQUE! The cost is also accessible and appropriate to the product, that is renewed year after year with new features and excellent user experience, always improved both in terms of speed and simplicity in its use. Come on, go on like this! Pros The best feature in Nakivo is the VM backup. The VM backup is simple to deploy and the maintenance is very little. Nakivo Backup & Replication is very easy to use and configure. Cons Updates on Nakivo VA can do only via host but not via web GUI and in my case it was very slow. Could you please develop this thing? With NAKIVO you can replace the hardware and get up and running pretty quickly. Pros I have installed NAKIVO on both Synology NAS and as a virtual appliance. Setup and configuring is very easy. I only use it with VMware virtual machines. With a paid license for VMware NAKIVO makes the needed config changes automatically. If the VMware free editions you need to do it yourself (VMware limitation), but it's still easy. Backup, Restore, Disaster recovery all work great! The subscription license if very affordable. In case of hardware problems you can get up and running very quickly. Cons I really don't have any major issues with NAKIVO I don't like. The ability to deploy the app directly on the NAS itself was a big win for us. We reduced the load on our hypervisors and have everything needed for recovery on one device. Cons Sometimes error messages are cryptic or things break without human input. But nothing that can be solved with support. Also those issues are mostly caused by improper solution design by us. It is good that they have so many options for storage and install operating systems. You can even deploy on some NAS systems. Cons There is no facility to natively encrypt backups to USB storage or a cloud repository. You need to have an offsite transporter offsite connected to the repository. So you cannot store encrypted backups directly into Amazon S3 storage or Wasabi etc. You need to have a transporter running in the cloud location connected to the storage for encryption to work. Quite a big oversight when all offsite backups should be encrypted.
