Backups are fast and reliable. There are also a variety of options that I'm sure will meet a variety of use cases. Pros Nakivo is an easy-to-use software solution that securely and efficiently automates your backup process while providing a variety of options along the way. Cons I experienced some difficulty finding the official documentation for how to configure certain settings on the side of the NAS during our installation and testing. Our backups run nightly and on the occasion when we need to restore, there are some very flexible ways of getting either individual files, VMDKs or entire VMs out the other end. We have yet to try out the non-VM backup but we suspect that at some point we will throw that out and move it all to Nakivo. Pros It's an elegant combination of Java and Linux with a straightforward web-based interface and it never lets us down. We feel completely comfortable with Nakivo protecting our backups and best of all, it means we don't have to install a load of Windows-based systems that we don't want or need just to run it. Cons It's not cheap. It does work out slightly more cost effective than Veeam, and the saving of effort and hassle of it being Linux-based was enough justification for us to buy it in the end. Pros Our company has used Nakivo as its backup solution for over seven years. From the beginning, I have appreciated how simple and intuitive the software is to use. I practically never needed to read the documentation to perform basic backup or restore operations. The online help for advanced features is very well organized and descriptive. Microsoft 365 and Proxmox support are among the most important of multiple features added over the years. Cons \- Backup to tape is slower than other available solutions, which is why it is not a viable option for us. - There were a couple of minor glitches, but they weren't significant enough to contact support. Pros Nakivo provides a comprehensive backup solution for VMWare (as well as other cloud/virtual infrastructures) which has a number of unique features in particular in transit encryption/compression which is useful when backing up over slower networks. Cons It isn't quite a complete backup solution in that it does not currently target backup of workstations, laptop, and other devices being focussed on backing up servers and virtual/cloud infrastructures. Whilst there are some developments in this direction such that physical machines can be backed up, it does not work well with devices which might be switched off, or sleep/hibernate during the schedule for the backup. Nakivo did the job just fine and letter let us down. Great package for the money asked for! Pros Installation as well as updating is simple and straightforward. The web interface allows simple access to all functions. Backup and Restore works like a charm and the messaging in case of failures makes checking status a breeze. I like the excellent rates for data compression allowing to use backup repository far beyond actual capacity. Cons Weird product policy for features in the different versions of the package - We are working with edition "Essentials Pro", which does all it needs to do, but the calendar view is disabled. Absolutely understand, that functions are limited to higher editions of package, but a calendar view of your jobs?!
