In fact, whenever we look for talent, it's the first app we go to. The free tier still allows us to put ourselves out there and there are a lot of potential candidates. I have found all three of my previous jobs through this software. They frequently update jobs and offer a huge selection. The employers almost always list all information you would need to know about each job like pay, benefits, job description, and requirements. You can search for jobs based on filters like specific keywords, location, salary, experience level, and more! I have found that most employers respond fast and in a timely manner. The newest features are the best! You can now schedule your interviews within the software. You can also message the employer directly for more information. They recently added the ability to take assessments which give the employer a much better idea of your skills and abilities. I have used so many different job boards but Indeed is always my first choice. Cons I haven't found any cons related specifically to the software at all. The only downside is when employers aren't quick to respond but that's rare and really has little to do with Indeed. Indeed is very easy to use but I think some improvements could be made to increase the quality of applicants. Pros As a recruiter, Indeed is a great resource for me in terms of finding passive candidates. Indeed has a lot of great Booleans that you can use to narrow your search results, allowing you to find candidates by their job title, skills, company, etc. I also love being able to setup alerts for saved searches as it allows for me to get a head start on qualified candidates who have just started their job search. It's also great to post jobs on Indeed because you can add qualification questions to your posting that candidates will need to complete - this is great for weeding out candidates who don't have the required skills. Cons I think that on the job seeker side, Indeed could stand to improve the information that they request from candidates. I get a good amount of low-quality applicants who fail to fill out their resume outside of their name. I believe that if Indeed required candidates to fill out a more comprehensive resume, it would discourage applicants from applying who are not serious about their job search. On the employer side, if you are posting a position, you will only be able to add one location for the posting. We sometimes have positions where we are looking for candidates in 2+ locations and I would like to be able for the posting to show up in both easily. Additionally, I would like to see a space on the posting where we can include a link to the posting in our ATS. I recommend other employers to give it a go, irrespective of company size! Pros I have used indeed on both ends of the spectrum, as a recruiter and as an applicant. I first encountered it as an applicant. I found it relatively easy to put an application through. I did not need to create an account and fill in a lot of information, this way I was able to focus on the job I was applying for and getting all the right documents ready instead of the admin of filling in a long application. As a recruiter, I have seen how this translates into quality applications. Some of the best applications I have gotten were through indeed where I could see that the applicant spent time reviewing our company and job description. I found the recruiter dashboard easy to use, I was able to seamlessly sort through over 400 candidates and then export candidate details to a different database in a .csv file. Cons When recruiting because of how easy it is to apply you also get low-quality submissions but adding a criterion and using the available filter options helps. When coming to recruitment management, the option to message candidates could be improved to add more color or graphics, I found the response emails to be a bit bare? As a job seeker, I do not have many grievances other than the "Easily apply to this job" arrow was initially not being clear that it's for jobs that I could apply directly with Indeed to, and the other ones are hosted on external job boards. Indeed also has exams you can take that can show up on your resume when employers check out your resume! It’s probably one of my favorite things about indeed. I truly love the ease of checking jobs, new jobs that are posted all day everyday are easy to distinguish. Overall, I truly enjoy indeed. I am one of those people that even though I have a job I love looking at jobs online, even if it’s just to see what new work from home adventures there are, or jobs in my location. Indeed is a must have for anyone who is looking for new hires. You can try out other sites but you will inevitably come back to Indeed. Pros To start, Indeed is the largest job posting site in the world and most people use the platform when searching for a new job. This fact alone makes Indeed a must have when searching for new hires. Also, Indeed is very user friendly. This means that I don't have to micro manage the job postings. I can hand it over to my assistant and I don't have to worry about it. I also really like their analytics. It really helps me to optimize my postings so I can find the talent that I need. A feature that I really like is having applicants answer certain qualifying questions. This really speeds up the hiring process. Cons There isn't much that I don't like about Indeed but one thing that I must say is that I'm not a fan of the pay-per-click model for ads. With this model I have to pay for a lot of clicks that are irrelevant. If I post a job that looks enticing, I will get a lot of clicks from people who are just curious about the job and not serious about applying. One other thing would be the customer service. I wouldn't say that it's bad but it's not great. I've had issues with my Client Success Manager that has made things more difficult than they need be. This has been exacerbated since COVID-19. December 9, 2021 3.0 I think Indeed bought advertising on national media with a promise from the ad agency that said we will create a news story about a job shortage, so people will apply to everything. This works to brand Indeed as the go to source for applications, but it has not been a good hiring tool nor a good resource for finding work. Maybe it's because the algorithm is only set up for certain words, though I posted a job request before when I was looking to hire, and I don't remember the parameters being that specific. All in all, this is an easy software to use from both a business hiring perspective and a job application perspective, but it fails to provide a good match for people looking for work. I wish they could get it right because in theory, it should be a great tool. In practice though, a 1% response rate for people ready to work is ridiculous. Pros This software makes it easy to upload your resume and apply for jobs. It even offers to match you with jobs you qualify for. The sort and filter features are general, so any applicant has to wade through a ton of listings to find a match, and often the listings are duplicated, meaning you see the same ones on page after page, with new listings mixed in. Cons Because it's so easy to submit applications, employers are inundated with a ton of resumes. That doesn't bother me, but it makes it harder for them to respond to applicants, and creates a situation where it feels like the employer just doesn't care. I literally submitted over one hundred applications for jobs I'm qualified to do, and got one response. One. And that wasn't even an interview, that was just an email response that said thanks for applying.
