Pros: As a Business Analyst cum Product Manager in Software Engineering, tremendous amount of documentation including business process diagrams, and flowcharts were part of my role in my previous product organization. Before learning Visio, I have tried many free apps, and capabilities with in word and struggled a lot. While we make enterprise solutions by offering customization in our product suite, it is quite normal to study and analysis complex business processes of every new customer. To make a case - the process to be automated, solution, estimation, and design, diagrams and flowcharts were inevitable. Making diagrams eat a lot of time before Visio. Visio helped us to streamline this particular activity. It is pretty simple to copy an old diagram, make a few modifications and use it in another document. Another advantage in using vision is scope for modifications and less time to edit the diagrams. The beauty of Visio is stencils and drag and drop feature to build diagrams. Also it is awesome to have an excellent repository of shapes. Couple of times, I have used the organization chart feature. The import feature is very much helpful when we have a comprehensive reporting hierarchy. Live data overlay which enables us to visualize live data in the context of a org structure, a business process, or a manufacturing process flow to get the big picture in one glance. Once you master Visio, it is less likely that you switch to any other tool for diagrams and process flows. Provision to collaborate on diagrams simultaneously is a big relief when many users work on a diagram

Cons: It is a fantastic tool and no doubt on its capabilities. However pricing is heavy and the solution is subscribing to online version. If the shapes show some meaning or suggest the purpose, Visio can be a bit more intuitive.

Pros: Microsoft Visio is the best software for serving the purpose of diagrams designs. It's capabilities to provide the best diagram templates for data flow diagrams, floor plans, building plans are among the best features.

I have been using this software for preparing DFD's and flowcharts as part of my regular job requirements and I can say this is best software for such accomplishments since it offer varities of templates that I can just pick and go for doing my job with ease.

According to me what makes this software stand out is its ability to pick the data from the MS Excess and MS Access which makes it best piece of software for working on diagram requirements in an organization.

Cons: Though it is very easy to use for those who have a little bit of experience using the Visio, however if you are starting with the software the you may find it little bit difficult to understand and get going so I would recommend anyone who is planning to use the software to spend some time with the software and get used to it and then you will find it easier and very useful and effective to accomplish your requirements.

Overall: I have been using this software as a part of my daily job requirements and I can say this is the best software one can get to work on various types of diagrams to suit to your business and organizational requirements.

Pros: the simplicity and effectiveness of use, are characteristics that distinguish this powerful office tool.

Visio has themes that you can select for the realization of particular diagrams of both form and objects. This office tool can be included from the editable mode in other tools of the office itself.

Visio integrates all conventional office options into an ideal tool for diagramming. It has a simple menu like what we are used to with office, also of options that add value to the design.

You should not be afraid to insert images or elements because the tool easily allows it. I include a simple edition

Cons: When I try to insert the editable visio in power point, the visualization is difficult to handle elements from there.

From visio to include an image the size can get to be very small, it is necessary to be attentive to the size with which you are designing from visio.

If you want to open a visio file in tools in the cloud, it is not an easy task, since the particularity of this tool is directly with Microsoft Office.

Overall: Visio has allowed me to create the engineering practice layout. As well as, I have used it for the creation of maps, flow charts, free elements, among others

In my area of work it is very helpful because it is process oriented so it is always necessary to elaborate process diagrams

Pros: Granted it was purchased by Microsoft from Visio Corporation in 2000 but it hasn't lost a thing, which is quite unbelievable. In fact, it has gotten better over the years. I have to say it is truly one of the most "beautiful" pieces of software I've ever used. From the flow of the user interface to the creation of almost any type of diagram, Visio has been there for me since day one. The ability to layer diagrams and images can not be beat. With some additional VBA work in the tool, it can not be beat for ease of use and flexibility. It can also connect to a database and create ER diagrams. It also has UML which can almost turn directly into code. Almost. It's not quite there. Yet.

Cons: It will come as no surprise that the price is what is the most absurd. The pricing of the product lines will take this software out of reach of casual users. For doing any truly useful work, the Professional version is almost double the Standard version. Microsoft needs to lower the cost to increase its market penetration in some sectors. Otherwise, a solid all-around product.

Overall: Too numerous to mention. Suffice it to say the phrase 'A picture is worth a thousand words' is very true and this product helps bring ideas to life.

Pros: Visio 2013 has raised the bar for the challengers. While I already enjoyed using Visio 2010, I now really enjoy Visio 2013. The addition of the ribbon interface now makes it easier to set up and enter frequently used features along with providing a very workable interface to add drawings, pictures and any other diagrams needed to make business flow. I use this tool almost every day to produce and refine presentations to staff and managers. I particularly like the workflow diagrams which allow me to get my point across as to where the resources are used most heavily in day to day business.

Although I've looked at other tools, I still believe this tool is the best value for the money and for interoperability with other systems.

Cons: While there is not much to dislike about this software, there are some features which leave something to be desired. An example is the ease of placing headers and footers on the diagram. Now, it seems that we have to use the title feature which only allows headers and footers as background layers for the Visio diagram. I'm not sure I like this feature. I think there needs to be functionality that allows the user more flexibility in designing and entering headers and footer with ease. The current functionality permitted by Visio 2013 is somewhat clunky. There should be an easier way.

Pros: It's pretty powerful and full of features and niceties. Using this software, we've been able to fully document our existing network, document all upgrades and changes. We've even used it to integrate into our Active Directory network to build out organizational charts. It has shapes and templates for just about everything we've needed: org charts, switching and routing diagrams, individual switch cabling, diagrams for documenting our server racks, our phone system, work flows, and building layouts. We recently more than doubled the size of our building, and this software has helped us to document everything in the new building, and keep track of upgrades in our existing buildings. Software is easy to use, so our interns have been able to jump right in and start working with all of its features.

Cons: It does seem to use a lot more memory than other Office programs, so it does tend to crash a lot on us. Mostly when we're using some of its more advanced features like integrating it into Exchange/Active Directory. Even still, it works well at what it does, we just need PCs that have a lot of memory to ease the user experience.

Overall: Biggest benefit this gives us, after having used it for so long and put a lot of work into it, is great visibility into the design of our entire network: firewalls, routers, switches, servers; building layouts, cabling paths; access points, desktops, phones, printers. Everything is organized so well, we can easily lookup physical locations, switch ports, and cable paths, making troubleshooting much less difficult for our IT Technicians and Interns.

Pros: Capabilities to go beyond simple diagramming, including the ability to use macros with layers to switch views within a single diagram. This alone once saved me the effort of producing multiple diagrams for the same workflow process, reflecting how groups of users with different permissions would "see" the same flow.

Cons: 1) Shapes only offer one text block. Classic example: database "cans", where I'd like to have a "name" text block within the oval and a "description" text block within the body. After all these years, surely Microsoft could work out a way to have two or more text blocks in a single shape (or on a single connector)!

2) Connectors love to re-route and are hard or impossible to "lock down" in complex diagrams, including both diagrams built "from scratch" and those using templates (e.g. organization charts).

3) Temperamental Templates. All of the templates I have used (organization charts, database relationships and home room layout in recent memory) have been almost as much trouble as they were useful. Apparently room layout is a particularly challenging task as I couldn't find a good non-Microsoft tool elsewhere either.

I'm fairly widely experienced creating business graphics with a number of tools, but not a full-time graphics professional. I use Visio to visually document systems and databases with which I work in software development and maintenance.

As such, I'm technical enough to understand something about the shape system, but with only a rare opportunity to "tinker" with Visio to try to "get it to behave". I'd really like more ability to "lock" connectors and shapes and richer text capabilities for both shapes and connectors.

Bottom line: Visio's ease of use has barely changed in years and is the single area that Microsoft should address next.

Overall: More sophisticated capabilities than other Microsoft graphics tools

Pros: Visio allows to the users to make a conceptual map of their ideas, through the creation of schemes what can show the actual condition of the company, where the changes has to be do, how we can improve our markket sector, how we are spending our money and how we are managing our budget, we can also fixed the key points to evolve or to resolve some probles of our company or business. We can do all this with a massive quantity of elements to show a precise image of our ideas and show how the thing are, and how the things could be in our company.

Cons: The many disadvantage for many companies or little business it is the price, maybe some companies does not want to spend a great amount of money in a software who they think can be replace with a free software, another limitation it is associated with the team work, to represent a perfect image of the company you have to hear a every person involve or even the most of them, if you do not do that you can show a personal image, a personal problem and this cannot be the idea of all the company, that it is going to be your personal opinion of the problems of the company, you have to be beware of this.

Overall: With Visio in our company we can model a basic set of features where the people does not work in the right or maybe they are not in the right condition to have an acceptance performance. So with the software we can determinate which are the conditions that was making the people does not produce the proportion that the administration department had been calculate and we saw that was an incompatibility between the job that the people are doing in the condition of their workplace, we can determinate that with Visio and with direct interaction with the workers.

Pros: One of the tools that I use with great frequency is the Microsoft Visio, it has helped me to capture or draw different aspects of the projects that I have the responsibility to lead or assign to my team.

The tools incorporated within Microsoft Visio allow giving that professional touch that allows to group flow of information and descriptions at the same time and end user is easy to understand.

Equally the different stencil that can be incorporated, facilitates and integrates the information, I have had the experience of searching for stencil of proprietary brands to be able to work with the hardware of my professional environment without any kind of problems.

And when presenting or exporting it is very easy, the incorporated help is very useful when clarifying a doubt.

Cons: This wonderful tool to graphically capture ideas, projects, information flow and even design of structures, has its sales it is possible that it also has its point against, which is not much in micaso that could be for a person with little knowledge in really what If you want to capture, it could be a problem to know that there are thousands of stencils available that help create a more professional document.

Another one of the few points against could be that the tools of left side are hidden and it can be difficult to stop the novice user to obtain them again.

Of the rest I recommend 100% the use of Microsoft Visio

Pros: It is a very stable software with time in the market that has been evolving in a fast and positive way, it likes a lot because it has multiple templates defined online, from different areas, in my case I use more than flow diagrams, network diagrams. , Organization charts and Work Breakdown Structure, the latest versions can be opened from the browser.

The advantage of making diagrams in visio is that we work on a grid sheet which allows us to order efficiently the components of the system we want to build.

Additionally the shortcuts help to optimize the designs because the elements are presented in a visual way.

Cons: Visio presents several points of improvement as it should be the integration to the microsoft office package, because it is acquired with an additional license, which has an impact on Opex increase of our company, also the handling, multilayer must be improved being able to integrate designs of Printed circuit board in an easy way, or simple construction or industrial plans without getting the complexity of CAD software.

Overall:

The main benefits of Visio is the ease and speed that allows the work team in the company to translate the action plan steps in a diagrammatic way when we define the operational workflows, simplifying in a feedback diagram what can be done. occupy several pages written in a document with high probability that will not be read by the majority of members of the work team.

Pros: I began my self-education as a graphics designer (and animator) on Visio. It is extraordinarily easy to use, once you familiarize yourself with the options, what things can do, how to arrange and adjust and manipulate shapes. It was quite easy to learn and some of the clunky features of the earlier Visio versions I was learning on have been improved with time. It's modernized with a ribbon bar and I find it easier to navigate and locate what I'm looking for. It doesn't overwhelm you with so many options with strange names that could intimidate new users, like Photoshop and programs like that can do. Although I'm not a fan of them, there are templates, which I understand can sometimes be balky when trying to use. I always preferred a new blank to work with. (I don't use templates in any of the software programs I have that offer them. It's just my weird thing.) If you can use it for free through your school or work, that's a bonus, because it is on the expensive side, which I'll address under the Cons of Visio.

Cons: As I said above, the price is definitely a factor to consider. And I think the templates aren't always as user friendly as they should be, if you're the kind who uses templates. A lot of the things that I now know, as an experienced graphics designer and animator, were clunky and difficult and needed improvement, actually have been improved over the years, so the clunky, hard to maneuver issues from earlier versions is for the most part gone. There are still areas for improvement and a little imagination, but Visio is a solid, reliable, easy to use program, especially if you can use it for free.

Pros: This tool is useful for me, I need to diagram and show the user the steps without being complex, they are guided quickly because the visual elements are simple.

In the area where I work, standards and procedures are made and our indispensable tool to make flow diagrams is Visio, as well as the company's organizational charts, it has an easy-to-use platform, it has pre-designed templates that help me guide me, it allows me to modify it. In a simple way, objects can be dragged and dropped and shapes can be adjusted.

Cons: Actually not much that I dislike about this tool because I use it frequently, there are only things that I would change as more optimal because it makes the computer a bit slow, It seems that it uses a lot more memory than other Office programs, always We require the IT team to help us, it is also a bit expensive.

Overall: It allows to diagram in an easy way and to show users a simple and easy to understand graphic.

Pros: In the past we were using more complex software packages such as Autocad or Illustrator to do some basic outline drawing for presale sketching (we're in the printing industry). Although we still use those software now for post sale work, we do a lot of presale stekching with Visio. It is simple, and allows to do up-to-scale plans quickly. I have also used Visio to do floor plans (office design, room dimension design) and although it does not have the visual aspect of some design software available today, it is very efficient in terms of planning for space, door placement, windows, furniture, ... Finally, we also have used Visio for flow charts for our quality system (ISO), and others.

Cons: Slightly expensive for personal use. Otherwise for the intended use, I see no real problem with Visio

Overall: Quick diagrams, floor plans and flow charts. Easy interface and well priced for companies.

Pros: I use Visio for so many things - Floor layout when I renovated my home, network planning, datacenter rack planning, flow charts and others.

It's versatile, easy to use, handles scalable drawings nicely - It's great.

I highly recommend investing the time in learning all the useful keyboard shortcuts, they take a bit of time to learn but pay back in time saved (Thanks VisioCafe for making this available for free:http://www.visiocafe.com/downloads/Mouse&Keyboard-Shortcuts-Visio2002.vsd)

Cons: As always with the tools that are versatile - there's a learning curve, and for every single use case you can think of there might be a more dedicated tool that is easier / cheaper Etc. If you need versatility there's nothing like it, if you need only one area I would look for alternatives.

Overall: Great, I'm a frequent user whenever I am running a technical project this becomes a daily tool for me.

Pros: Despite the fact that I work in an IT company and all our employees know how to use modern technologies, it turned out that the easiest Visio program is most convenient for creating graphic objects. Yes, imagine, I and my colleagues use this application in order to draw flow charts, various diagrams. And as I said, I'm personally attracted to the program by the ease of use with pretty serious functionality. Well and one more plus is that Visio enters into some office packages from Microsoft by default, that is the program does not need to be bought separately.

Cons: Perhaps, I note that with extensive functionality you still can not create full-fledged drawings, it turns out that the program is designed only for creating visual graphics that are drawn without observing strict requirements, that is, you get simply colorful pictures at the output.

Pros: Visio has excellent features that I will mention below.

This software is one of the best platforms we have found for the internal organization of our personnel based on the projection of strengths and weaknesses. On the one hand, Visio offers the best scheme for the construction of corporate structures, defined in the hierarchy where each of the positions is defined according to the potential and weaknesses of the work team. In addition, it offers the construction of flow diagrams necessary to analyze the performance and average performance of each of the positions described in the structure.

Cons: It is a somewhat difficult software to use. The times we have had to use it have had to be with the IT Department of our Management.

It would be great if this software could use it all, but for that, an instruction is required.

Overall: It is a software that you must acquire to put it to the test in your company. We fulfilled this requirement, put it to the test and more we could never stop using it. It is very valuable and you must acquire it

I've used this program for several years for drawing some basic and some advanced diagrams.

Pros: I like that it has so many templates or layers to chose from. You can add houses, signs, animals, basically anything to a to-scale-drawing. You chose the measurement from one object to another. An example is, you are trying to draw a parking lot to scale. You can space the lines in the parking lot, trees, curbs, fire hydrants, or anything to the exact point you want it. You can load gps points into it and draw from there to have an exact placement using those options the program provides. This works very well.

Cons: It's not user friendly until you have some time in to it. There is a pretty big learning curve. Although I like it because i'm use to it, some templates, drawings, and features take some time to find. I've used other programs with a more user friendly format, and had features that were easier to find.

Pros: What I like most about MS Visio is the ease of use. I feel that the tabs are well organized and cater very well to the user. The way the program is structured makes it very easy to create and develop with ease. The different tabs and options available are almost intuitive and follow an excellent progression and lay out all of the avaible options to the user. The visuals used are very appropriate and coincide with the program as a very visual based program as a whole.

Cons: What I like least about this software is that I feel that I can acheive similar results using other MS software. Visio definitely makes it very easy to create, but there are features in other MS software such as MS Word and MS Powerpoint that allow for similiar and oftentimes suffieincient capabiluities for everyday designs. I turn to Visio when I really want something very unique.

Overall: Overall, I have had a very positive expereince using Visio. Visio is a very powerful tool with which I can create some very impressive and unique visuals. However, for the work I personally do, I do not always require teriibly stunning visuals, so usually those which i can create simply in MS Word or MS Powerpoint are sufficient. However, Visio definitely takes those designs to the next level.

Pros: It is an excellent software for creating flow charts and flow diagrams. I've used it frequently when creating new programs to explain them to my coworkers, and since it is so easy to use and so intuitive I waste almost no time creating them. Cons: I have absolutely no complaints about visio, using it has been extremely easy and really rewarding, it has allowed me to take my flow diagrams to another level and I always get compliments on them from my colleagues.

Overall: As I have mentioned before Visio is an excellent software for creating flow diagrams, and definetly is a must have for any type of programmer, since it allows for easily displaying code explanations to everyone. I totally recommend it.

Pros: I develop games that are dialogue-heavy and use Visio daily to map out the lines, different branching narrative paths, and write notes to myself for later development at that point.

It's a very nice way to also deliver lines to voice actors as well, because they can see everybody's lines, in the order that they appear, with respect to different options, etc.

I've also used Visio in a professional capacity, as well as an educational capacity when I was pursuing my Master's Degree.

I will likely never stop using it.

Cons: Visio clearly wasn't developed with my particular use in mind, but I can't knock it for that. I don't have anything negative to say, Visio is a great tool that can be used in a large variety of ways.

Pros: Visio was my first diagramming tool. It enable me put my mental thoughts into diagrammatical flows and charts. Allowing me better critique my mental thoughts and visions.

Visio has got nice icon templates ,which makes the process of diagramming a while lot easier . 80% of my paperwork ,I do with Visio and I like how I am able to export my diagrams in multiple formats like png and jpeg , thereby aiding my ability to share my diagrams with my team.

Cons: I want to see more training videos added to the help section. Visio isn't a very easy software to pick up ,especially for users who haven't used any diagramming program before touching Visio, therefore the need for videos to tutor new users in the act and craft of using Visio.

Pros: Visualize, analyze and communicate their systems, resources and processes, and the data on which they are based.

Increase productivity by integrating diagrams with information from various sources.

Reduce manual data entry by letting Office Visio 2007 keep the diagrams updated.

Visualize and act on complex information showing data in diagrams

Analyze data and easily track trends, identify problems and signaling exceptions with dynamic diagrams

Create diagrams more quickly letting Visio connect shapes for you.

Transmit information efficiently with professional-looking diagrams.

Communicate the use of diagrams and share them with a large number of recipients.

Cons: It is not free

It is not a case tool as it is, so it does not generate a code.

Sometimes you do not find all the necessary tools.

The button to print is larger in Office 2013, but not the two tiny menu buttons that you have to press to bring up the print window.

Then we would resort to pressing the Ctrl + P keys, but that triggers new challenges. Touching the microscopic button with the arrow facing up to increase the number of copies requires a level of skill that only surgeons possess.

Overall: This advanced diagramming software from Microsoft Visio 2010 helps you simplify complex tasks with dynamic visual elements based on data and new ways to share on the Web in real time. Whether you are creating an organization chart, a network diagram or a business process, the new tools and the more intuitive interface of Visio 2010 help you create your diagrams more easily. You get quick access to the templates you use frequently. In the Introduction window, you will find the template you need, exploring the categories of simplified templates and using large template previews. Locate the templates that you have recently used using the new Recent Templates view in the Introduction window.

Pros: Visio allows you to do several different types of functions. Most notably we use it for process flow visualization. It helps with the dialog boxes and flow arrows. It also helps with electrical drawings within the data center environment, much cheaper than other cad programs but you do pay for what you get. It requires minimal to no training to begin using.

Cons: Sometimes the hardest parts with Visio are finding pre-created stencil images. You sometimes have to search deep within the templates to find what is needed. The other issue is the snap-to feature with dialog boxes to arrows or connection points. They do not always connect right where you want or snap to the grid in the correct place.

Overall: We used it for process visualization, which was easy. Generally a process flow only took an hour to create, but helped show other teams how a process is supposed to go instead of verbally showing. The other portion is IT topologies showing connections between devices or enclosure drawings. This software helps greatly and does not require a ton of computer resources since it is basic drawings. Higher level drawings can definitely be achieved with it as well.

Pros: This tool is very useful, you can create a variety of diagrams, from diagrams of flow of data, diagrams of processes, of database, diagrams uml, diagrams of network, already related to infrastructures of technological networks, among others. It has a variety of icons for use in the diagrams, so it is not necessary to use other images to create it. For companies that have a Sharepoint infrastructure, with microsoft visio we can design the workflows and in a visual way we can observe the interaction between each part of the workflow. It has a free viewer so that people who do not have visio installed can observe the diagrams. With Visio Online you can now create diagrams without installing anything, and share them within the company

Cons: As the tool presents a variety of utilities because it covers many types of diagrams, if you do not investigate a bit how to use it the user can be overwhelmed by so many things that he has and can do.

Overall: Design any type of diagram in a quick way and be able to collaborate and share with my colleagues, tools like these make us more effective with our work

Pros: I like that Visio allows for these digrams to be drawn easily and quickly by providing simple templates and layouts. With the additional templates on the Pro edition I am able to go beyond just the usual diagrams and sharing with others are quite easy which is a plus.

Cons: I don't have much to say except that because of the additional cost of it not being part of the MS suite at times others that I share the diagrams with does not have the tool and they are not able to edit or view.

Pros: This a great software to do diagramming of processes and workflows and to know how the units of your organization are working, it is very friendly and easy to use, you only have to add the images depending of their meaning so you can a cube for the database, a circle for one process and square for another and so on, this is a very useful tool to monitoring the funtiocning of the units and know how the works are doing some task, so you can easily find in the diagrams where are the problems and the possible options to solve it.

Cons: The interphase for print it is so annoying it takes a lot of time to configure, because the page does not fit automatically in the print so you sometimes have to reduce a lot the images and text to fit in letter sheet for example, and I think that is reccomendable that the people who is going to use Visio know or learn a little about processes to get the most of the software.

Overall: Make workflows and diagrams of processes in my organization and know where are the failures or limitation to solve it.

Pros: I really love visio, I use it as a complementary tool to both microsoft powerpoint and word, since the templates and shapes both microsoft softwares offer are so limited. I create my patterns and workflows with visio and then easily import them to both softwares, and since they were created by the same company they have excellent compatibility.

Cons: Visio is really easy to use, however for small tasks sometimes is better to work directly with powerpoint because it overcomplicates said tasks.

Overall: I truly recommend visio, it allows you to create flowcharts that truly set you appart and take your presentations to a whole new level, you just need to get the hang of it and it will be really rewarding.

With Visio it is easier and more intuitive than ever to create flowcharts, red diagrams, among othe.

Pros: It has a good amount of resources to make diagrams in a simple way, in addition to its clean and light design allows to take advantage of all its functions from the first use, The schemes generated with this program developed by Microsoft can be used to optimize business processes , track projects and resources, or simply to show effectively the information of a work done Visio contains an extensive gallery of images and symbols so you can create and complete your diagrams and maps. These icons help to improve the appearance of your documents and provide extra information, very useful to understand.

Pros: Very easy to start using, within 5 minutes a user will be able to start diagramming. Very intuitive and user-friendly, and very familiar to anyone who uses any of the major MS Office products, regarding interface.

We use this product to diagram information networks, software/scripts logic flows, systems designs, and datacenter layouts, and business process workflows. As an IT shop, Visio is versatile in providing solutions for all aspects of our diagram needs of our business.

Customized connector anchor placements are great for fine-tuning a diagram.

Labels and adjustable placement flexibility is great for diagram cleanup.

Snap-to-connectors for line connections are flexible and adjustable.

Cons: Knowing the keys to press to place connector anchors can evade users who do not know to press those keys in order to place a custom connector point.

Pricing: Visio is an additional cost outside of the normal Microsoft Office suite of software.

Pros: Visio allows me to produce a very wide range of graphic charting and mapping with tools and templates ranging from floor plans to flow charts, process maps, org charts.

There is a wide variety of pre-made and editable elements, shapes and borders as well as the ability to create your own.

There is also the ability to layout on a grid to allow for precise placement of the elements for and a very professional look.

Elements are grouped by chart type for convenience, but all groups and elements can be used at any time. It allows much more creativity than PowerPoint, and is nowhere near as clunky.

Cons: Page size/image size/paper size can be a bit confusing.

Also, it would be nice if there were some sort of quick and guided way to convert something created in Visio into a background that could be used in PowerPoint

Overall: I get the freedom to do all of my charts & graphics quickly, but also uniquely. Not being locked into a finite number of design choices

Pros: Visio is really easy to use and has all the features you need to make a great flowchart. The help is also very good and even has a tutorial to give you a good overview of the software before you start using it. You can enter text right into the shapes, replace the shape with another shape, and even add extra connector points to them. It has spellcheck, you can add layers to your flowchart, or expand it across pages. It has rule-checking and automatically creates a legend. You can password protect your project, and create different document types from it.

Cons: The clipart in Visio isn't as extensive or creative as in other diagramming software. There is a free viewer for your clients to use without purchasing Visio, but you might have to ask Microsoft for the link. It also only works on Windows, not on Apple or even Android tablets.

Overall: As long as you can live with its limitations, Visio is a great tool for diagramming and flowcharting, and the best part is it's intuitive and so easy to use.

Pros: I'm really excited about Visio's capabilities, although it's hard to call this program professional. With its help, I easily create diagrams, flowcharts, which I need as graphic materials when speaking before large clients or during lecture reading. It is also convenient that the system allows you to create any number of sheets, link them together, make links to specific diagrams. This helps to quickly move to the desired stage without flipping through all the sheets. And ready-made templates make life much easier and save time.

Cons: Strangely, but in MS Visio normally automatic alignment does not work - at least at me so. Because of this, it is difficult to guess how your infographic will look in case you decide to print it on a paper poster. I did not work with similar graphics packages before, so I had to spend a lot of time studying the application, but now I'm working quickly and there are no more questions.

Pros: I have been working with Visio for more than 5 years, since the transition to a new company. I really like this editor because of its simplicity - it was created specifically for busy people who solve problems for business and nothing else. Therefore, there are no unnecessary design features that require a lot of time to study.

Cons: The program does not always work stably. Once I worked on a project and did not manage to save it. Because of the departure of the program, I lost my day job. And besides, Visio works only under Windows (such is Microsoft's policy).

Pros: Visio, at it's most basic is a tool that allows a user to easily create flowcharts/org charts/storyboards/etc. The basics are very easy to learn, and even someone who's never used Visio before can turn out a business diagram in minutes.

It integrates within the MicroSoft Office suite of products, so that the created charts/diagrams, etc can be cleanly and professionally embedded into Word documents, and PowerPoint presentations.

There are stencil packs and templates for just about any purpose, including crime scene and accident reconstruction!

Cons: As I said above, the basics can be learned very quickly. There is a learning curve to really unleash the capabilities of Visio; the interfaces for layering and advanced shape manipulation aren't intuitive, and the options available can be overwhelming. Someone with experience with other graphic software such as Illustrator should have no problem.

Cons: I particularly like this software, although in more complex processes it does not have the necessary tools to prepare diagrams and of course at the time of activating the product it is necessary to buy the license that is a bit expensive compared to other software

In addition, Visio helps you to create custom images using pre-defined shapes. It helps to create images with a very good resolution.

Cons: At the beginning the software is not very intuitive. You have to spent a few hours to dominate some of the features that Visio has for creating images. Another thing that I don't like so much, is the Grid system. Some times is really difficult to align two shapes or figures in the same position.

Pros: The software is easy to use and generally smooth in operation overall. A non-draftsperson can easily pick up and become proficient in the software in very little time.

Cons: For complex drawings, the software is a little lacking and the layout of some of the controls in the newer version is somewhat illogical and shows that the software was designed by individuals that do not perform drafting functions on a regular basis. Specifically, when trying to edit line properties, the software now pops up a side window which reduces the viewing window of the main drawing--not useful when trying to edit a drawing. Also the ribbon items are strangely arranged, indicating a lack of understanding of the needs of a draftsperson.

Overall: Overall a solid program that will let you do what you need to do, but it has some illogical layout and operational issues that could be improved.

Pros: Visio is the best tool to design and prototype concepts requiring multiple stakeholder buy-in. You can use swim lanes, hierarchies and many other established business analyst conventions. You can also free style to illustration processes, workflows, designs, layouts, etc. Really simple to use and effective.

Cons: No downsides to this tool. The more you use, it the faster and more effective you will get.

Overall: Excellent tool. Once you start using it will be hard to live without.

Pros: In order to create professional drawings, Visio is absolutely not suitable. But I create in the program site layouts, process flowcharts, various visual diagrams. Such blocks, although not unified and do not meet the requirements for drawings, are still very visible and can be used simply for the presentation of projects. This is especially important, since it is very easy to work in the program, there is a good set of ready-made templates, and the presence of hot keys simplifies the work even more.

Cons: Unfortunately, the format of Visio is specific, so if your interlocutor does not have the same program, then it will be very difficult to open the sheets, flowcharts and other graphics created in this software. In fact, for this you need to have at your disposal a full-fledged MS Office package.

Pros: Microsoft Visio helps me create flowcharts that my users can easily follow. Most of my users are not technically minded and I need software package that they can follow both as a hard copy and online. Visio does this perfectly for me.

Cons: It can be difficult to use when you want to move outside of the standard design templates. Programming Visio can be a challenge if you are not an advanced user.

Overall: It helps me design graphical flows that are easy for non-technical people to follow.

Pros: I used Visio in university. Our university provided this software for free for Computer Engineers. I used a lot to draw diagrams, creating flowcharts in my assignments. It is the best software to draw diagrams and code designs. I was very lucky to use it for free.

Cons: Although I didn't pay for it in college, it is a bit expensive. It is Microsoft's product so you cannot expect less. I prefer other free tools now.

Overall: If you willing to pay for it, you will be very satisfied.

Pros: Visio is so easy to use. Visio is so simple to create super high quality presentations. Almost every powerpoint presentation I make has visio diagrams. I use this software to make architectural diagrams, network diagrams, logic diagrams, process diagrams. My kids use visio to make presentations for school.

Cons: Some of the templates are not as flexible as desired. For example, some networking diagrams don't contain enough to diagram cloud based designs.

Pros: It seems to me that Visio from Microsoft is the best program for visualizing data. It is very convenient for me to use ready-made templates, which can easily be filled with information for some 10-15 minutes. What else I like is the ability to change the size of the sheets on which flowcharts and diagrams are drawn. This allows me to fully present all the information and do not cut down data that just would not fit into sheets of small sizes.

Cons: I work in a more or less large company that has the opportunity to buy a full package of programs from Microsoft, but for small teams it can turn out that Visio is very expensive. Besides, inside the program, despite its simplicity, the use of some tools is completely intuitive and it is necessary to constantly return to the technical documentation.

Pros: I personally used this tool in my masters degree program, primarily for diagramming system inputs and outputs. If you are a visual learner, and you pick up more information from a diagram than text description, then you should use a tool like Visio. In the same vein as as current generation Microsoft products this is very easy to use, even if there are some odd design and UI decisions that Microsoft made.

Cons: While in general this is a very easy tool to use, for the beginning there are some perplexing design choices, especially in regards to menus and the location of certain shapes and options. This seems to be an issue across the board with Microsoft's new products, which looks fantastic but still require you to poke around for a bit while you look for that one option.

Overall: If you are in a project management role or you are writing up documentation this is a great tool. You can also use it to diagram quickly a system overview for a client. Typical Microsoft designs decisions which strangely located menus, but despite the quirks it is a strong product.

Pros: As a member of the Microsoft Office suite the familiarity of the platform makes it easy to get started. A common ribbon layout and shared tools help you be productive quickly. As with most Microsoft productivity tools you can do quite a bit and once comfortable you can more but...

Cons: Visio shares a common con with other MS productivity tools. Complexity. The learning curve can be steep and long. Advanced features and capabilities can be hard to leverage and even uncover. It's best to find a source you can depend upon for training if you need to take advantage of these. You first have to know they exist before you can take full advantage.

Overall: Visio is my go-to tool for creating many graphics as well as standard forms and charts. It's cross-compatibility with the other Office solutions make it a seamless way to combine Word-Excel-Visio content.

Pros: - Microsoft tool that allows to make multiple diagrams,I have used them for ER and UML diagrams and they are excellent,After using Visio one does not want to use anything else.

- A mental map or a conceptual map in Visio is really a beauty.

- It's very easy to handle, the diagrams have a very good finish, it's

versatile.

- Visio is perfectly understood with the other products of Microsoft.

- It has a wide range of images, forms, templates and icons for

use.

- In one of my work experiences, the company had the license and I dedicated myself to model each of the databases for later printing and that will remain in the office as part of the documentation of the proyects.

Cons: The price is the big problem of this SW, especially when one is student or works on his own, he can not acquire the license anymore which is very expensive.

Overall: It's true that Visio has its free competition, but I've tried both and Visio is much more complete.

Pros: Microsoft's Visio has evolved into the leading applciation for producing business level flowcharts and diagrams. Various templates and a multitude of shapes and icons allow for the creation of an almost unlimited variety of diagrams, ranging from organisation charts to process flowcharts, floor plans, and almost any other type of layout limited only by your imagination.

Visio is now included in Microsoft's Office 365 suite of programs and can even import data from Excel, another Microsoft program it sits alongside.

Cons: We don't really find anything not to like, as this application is so feature rich and is included with Office 365.

Overall: Colourful, tidy and informative diagrams can be easily created. A simple organisation chart is an obvious use but so is project planning, with the ability to update and insert any type or size of process at any time.

Pros: Visio Microsfot is an excellent software is ideal for block diagrams, Gantt diagrams, floor plans, office circuits and many other things

I really like to work with visio because it is a very complete tool that helps everything to be seen in the best way, the templates are usually very useful, saving the information is simple and can be saved in diversity of format and we can even save it and then we want to make changes we open it with the visio format and we can add or delete things.

In my case it has allowed me to work in a faster and professional way and it has allowed me to be more productive when working with this part. It also allows to transmit the information in the best way to each one of the people to whom the works carried out with Visio are directed.

Cons: I think that the disadvantage of Microsoft visio comes first, which is usually a bit difficult to understand at first, so it is important that someone with a prior knowledge explains or that little by little we rehearse and obtain the desired results, on the other, The other disadvantage is that visio is a paid software that really has a cost something and in many cases the free version expires in 7 days so it is necessary to pay to be able to work

Overall: really good experience, there is little time that has been working with visio but so far have been good results and much more recommended than some software of this type that are much more complex and do not get the same good results

Pros: I like that it is a software with many functions that help professional development at work, it is very easy and quick to make diagrams of different types, the objects are intuitive as well as their respective properties. I like it, as it easily adapts to large diagrams, that is, it is easy to print diagrams on A0 sheets. That allows almost that unlimited work space. I also like it, which is quickly integrated with other office applications, this facilitates the work and the way of sharing information between the work teams.

Cons: I do not like that much, that I can not do automatic things like mental maps, considering that these are diagrams, these must be done manually and it takes a lot of time. I have seen that it is not so versatile to incorporate images in stencils and has limited tools for its manipulation. Sharing information with other applications NO-OFFICE does not work properly, some things do not even look when you open them.

Overall: This software has benefited me at the moment of showing my ideas about the organization or how we should work on certain projects. It is undoubtedly an organizational tool that helps professional advancement at work.

Pros: Visio is great for creating visual aids for presentations and technical documents. I've used it as a Process Engineer in manufacturing to clearly show process flow diagrams, display data analysis results, show work instructions, and various other items needed for tasks and projects in the manufacturing environment. It's great for being able to create custom visual aids for these so that I can make it match exactly how I want it to display for each specific purpose, as opposed to a lot of templates that just don't quite fit what I'm trying to create.

Cons: I think the main screen could be a little more intuitive than it is. I'm not a big fan of so much auto-formatting being put into the program from the get-go, even though you can change some settings to fix that. It's frustrating when things auto format to sizes that aren't right. I find it a little frustrating to figure out where to exactly click on objects (e.g. a comment bubble or arrow) when you're working with them for the first time and want to change or move them. It is becoming easier as I use the various objects more and more.

Pros: This Microsoft Software is quite good, has many functions and features that are very useful when working.

It is very practical to develop flowcharts, routing and switching diagrams, flow diagrams, network design, building design, a company plan, it is very useful

It has a variety of templates available to facilitate the experience so that each person according to their needs perform the work in depth, I like very much that allows you to graph some data that is in a different format to visio

Considoero that all its tools make everything enjoyable and seek to learn every day in the best way

Cons: I think that the disadvantage of Microsofot Visio is that it is not a free software, it only has 7 days of the rewarding version and then it is necessary to proceed to pay. also on many occasions some tedious tools for workers who do not have as much knowledge

Overall: The experience has been good, I think that because I have not been using it for a long time there are things that you do not know much about and you will try it little by little, but what has been experienced so far has been very rewarding.

Pros: As someone with an extensive network support/design history I've found Visio to be very useful in developing network diagrams. When manage hundreds of network devices, diagramming things out is the only thing that allows you to stay on top of your growing network. I've used this not only for pre-implementation design but also for post implementation troubleshooting. This is also great for call flow design, taking complex call flow operations and turning them into something visible that the managers that will be on the receiving end of the calls can understand provide feedback on

Cons: While Visio is robust, you can sink A LOT of time into single diagrams if you like things perfect, there's not really an auto alignment, its hard to plan far enough ahead to make sure you're leaving yourself enough space on the diagram without making the diagram huge. You may also find starting out a little difficult if you're jumping into Visio with no prior training, I spent some time trying to figure out where to start on my first flow, and then a lot of time getting decently quick at building them.

Pros: the variety of formats that are useful when designing and drawing 2d diagrams, having a library saves work and time, besides having it separated by category is a very useful element, especially when working under design standards

Cons: Having diagrams 2d in visio is very useful and making them with this tool makes the work productive, however it would be very useful to establish a link with solidworks in order to relate the 2D work with the work in 3D, and if it is not much ask for it would be very useful to have a link with MATLAB ...

Overall: Working with visio, for us is an experience that can be defined as a productive fact, has a series of characteristics that allow to reduce time and maximize work, is friendly, easy to use, has a series of very diverse and complete libraries , Visio is an excellent solution for 2D design work.

Pros: The system is well thought out, all modules are intuitively understandable. There are 2 possibilities for creating flowcharts, diagrams or graphs. First, everything is done fairly quickly in manual mode from scratch, and secondly, you can use ready-made templates. For example, I use both methods in my work. In addition, in the process I have developed my database of ready-made templates, saved them on separate sheets and, if necessary, I use them in practice.

Cons: It's strange, but the images created in MS Visio are not always correctly converted into another software product from Microsoft. I mean the program for creating Power Point presentations. This causes some difficulties, because you have to carefully check everything.

Pros: I've been using Visio for about 15 years and I've always been pleased with the program. I remember the times when I had to create diagrams, reports, etc. and print them on posters. Even then, all necessary functions were available in Visio. And now with each new version of the program it only gets better: the interface is constantly improved, new functions and capabilities appear, and even the one who does not understand computer technology and especially specialized design programs can work with the application.

Cons: It is unfortunate that Visio is included only in expensive software packages from Microsoft, and you can not buy the application separately for some reason. I do not like this policy of the company.

Pros: I have been using Visio to be able to provide diagrammatic representations of user flows and systems workflows. The application is easy to use and has varied features to be able to design design workflows.

Cons: The subscription model with Office 365 is something that I do not like much with the product as the price that you paid on an ongoing basis sometimes does not justify the utility that the tool provides since its use is not every day.

Pros: Unlike other diagram-making software, Visio, although it is managed by Microsoft, is supported in more operating systems. It is available in both Mac and Windows. There are different stencils available with a simple drag and drop feature. The dashboard of Visio itself is pleasing to the eyes. Price is justifiable by the features. Visio has proved that it can be the go-to software for diagram-making.

Cons: Although it is said that the price is justifiable by the features, it might be better if the price decreased or additional features be added to future updates. It seems that the balance between the price and the feature can easily be toppled by a bug or a minor system error.

Pros: With the great need to highly customize diagrams and flowcharts, creating them in Microsoft Word or Powerpoint is not enough anymore. Best thing with Visio, it allows me to create diagrams, flowcharts and other visual representations which are highly customizable and highly personalized. I do not end up with mediocre diagrams which can be boring during presentations. Since we need to show our employee achievements and productivity quarterly through meetings, Visio allowed me to do so with finesse. Visio is highly collaborative as well which is a great plus.

Cons: It seems to crash more than any other Microsoft product. The annoying part is when it crashes when I'm in the middle of creating a diagram.

Pros: Visio offers a very simple interphase where you can make diagrams of virtually everything: workflows, data base, websites, networks, daily activities, and so many others. There are so many tools in the software that offers precise baselines, draws and the possibility to charge all the information that you need inside the figures. All the features of the software allows you to make a great job in a very little time. For me this is one of the best tools of MS Office.

Cons: Sometimes work with this kind of software can be a little difficult for people that are not get use to manage planning tools, I think is necessary to know a little about planning and organization methods to get the most of this amazing tools, or you can easily be lost, if you do not know what is the meaning of some figures and draws in the diagram

Overall: Visio has help us to do all the diagramming of the activies to develop our market office, through this simple interphase we can model how we are working we our clients, where are the limitations and which areas of the market sector we have to change to improve our company.

Pros: For me is the best application for the IT architects. Has a lot of free libraries from manufactures (such as Cisco) to add his objects.

The learning curve is quick if it is used every day.

Cons: In oldest versions, it has the reverse engineering for databases, to capture all objects and drawing the db schema.

Overall: I have used Visio for several years in my work and for me, it is an essential tool.

Pros: My experience of using Visio is more than 5 years, because it's a well-known program from Microsoft. So most often I use it to create diagrams, which I then insert into digital and paper presentations. In order to learn all the functionality of the software you will take a lot of time, but simple functions are mastered in just 20 minutes. This is possible due to the usual interface in the Microsoft style and correctly organized button configuration. Another help to speed up the work of hot keys.

Cons: The cost of the software package is overestimated in my opinion. Well, if the program is bought for work, it will pay off. And what about the students and students who also need diagrams and presentations?

Pros: Visio is easy to use. If you are making a layout there are different options for objects for your layout and everything is easy to find within Visio.

Cons: When connecting lines to boxes or other objects, sometimes the lines jump to a different path that you are not leading it to.

Overall: Visio helps you stay organized with projects. It also helps you clearly show your view for a project in a very visual way.

Pros: We use this largely for drawing out network diagrams. New customers always love seeing their network lined out in a lovely Visio drawing. It's been very useful for visualizing a number of other things in our office as well.

Cons: It can be a little difficult to learn when you first start learning the software, but it's very intuitive once you start using it on a regular basis.

Pros: Visio makes it very easy and intuitive to create network diagrams, flowcharts, plans etc. I used it for creating network diagrams for a new IT infrastructure we were rolling out.

Cons: I wish there were more free libraries to use as sometimes I couldn't find an icon of the element for some of my diagrams.

Overall: It's a great easy to use tool for everyone who creates diagrams or plans. Best of the best!

Pros: Visio is easy to use. The tools are contained in the all too familiar 'ribbon' found in most Microsoft Office products (like Word, Excel...), so no need to get used to it. Right of the bat, you can create your flowcharts and charts with the intuitive interface. Menus as well as similar and easy to navigate.

Functional for any type of charts or diagrams one will need to create for the office work or even school. There are many templates available by default, but there are also tons available online, just search (google/bing it).

Exporting is important to me, and Visio allows for compatibility formats with other software, as well as exporting to images without loss of quality.

Cons: Does not come (by default) with a regular Office 365 subscription... But its ok, its worth the subscription price for the features it provides.

Overall: I have used other similar software both paid and free, online or locally installed... when it comes to creating graphs and charts, I always go back to using Visio. It's not about using something I am familiar with, it more about being really easy to use and functional.

Pros: This program allows the manipulation of variables, the construction of flow diagrams that show the relationships and interactions of the defined elements, their levels of operation range from the spatial placement of objects in a room or dwelling to variables of economic, territorial or social importance. and even chemical processes, within a computer relationship entity model.

In addition, it allows the export of designs to other software specialized in data management. Visio has a button design and a menu of easy manipulation, the connectors are easily manipulated, it has many designs that facilitate interpretation.

It allows linking with project management programs, information systems and even office programs.

useful for educators, engineers, technology enthusiasts, human resources offices, students among others

Cons:

As negative aspects, obviously they are linked to the price of the product, but it is certainly worth the investment, there are not many open source programs that reach to satisfy users as visio does.

The digital output format is not compatible with other software from the same market, you must import the final product visio from the other developments.

Overall: Visio has helped me in the idea storm processes, the mental map of the processes, the problem tree, the solution tree, the causes tree, the organization charts, the stake board and the entity relationship model.

Pros: Has integration packages from every major tech company like Cisco, Dell, etc. Makes beautiful designs and blueprints for presenting to customers, in-house documentation, coordinating resources on projects, etc. Lots of training material out there to learn how to use it from scratch.

Cons: It can be a little intimidating to use because of the features for a newbie. Requires some training to use effectively. Auto-snap feature may make you want to jump out the closest window (turn it off first thing).

Overall: I have documented and designed every network I've been a part of with Visio. Customers love seeing how their stuff works and what their money is paying for. Easy to understand and very useful for showing newcomers to IT how everything is made and what their job is.

Pros: I use this software to do all of the organizational charts of my organization and it is very easy to use. It practically makes it all for you and you just have to change the information in the boxes. It also puts every boxes on the same level, which ensure that your document will be very professional and well done.

Cons: Sometimes the software has little glitches like it erases some of the links between two boxes when you add a third one. Except for this little problem, everything is great with Visio.

Pros: Visio is one of Microsofts best tools. I draw network architecture, datacenter design, and work flows using it. It is easy to view by administration.

I enjoy downloading custom stencils online ( by cisco/ EMC/ Dell..etc) to come up with fascinating schematics.

The images embed easily into MS Word.

Relatively easy to use.

Cons: Doing the connectors between two objects is frustrating as it forces you on certain points around the object, as well as it may change the routing of the connection automatically.

You need to keep on saving the file because in huge files, a crash can happen at any moment.

Overall: Come up with professional schematics and workflows. Easily embed them in MS word reports and share with management.

Pros: I have to create a lot of diagrams in my position at work as I manage money and it's flow throughout the university. Recently, I used Visio to create a visual diagram for my constituents and it made such a difference! The diagram was exactly what I needed it to be and was easily readable by everyone. I was able to show the full process of one of my programs from multiple views to different constituents. Being able to visually see a process is priceless, and Visio makes it easy!

Cons: As great as Visio is, the system does act up quite often. It's hard to get some templates to lock into place and some of the shapes to stay put in the more advanced diagrams. When I want to put a diagram together really quick before a meeting, it can get frustrating when the parts keep moving in the wrong direction. This has cost me some time more than once.

Pros: Characterized by being an intuitive and easy-to-use software, it contains a large number of predetermined templates and excellent tools to prepare structural organizational charts, if you need to develop an organizational chart or brochure in a short time, this software is a good option

Cons: It is very limited in terms of the tools to design, does not contain automatic vectorization module, to be a design program it falls short in terms of the tools to edit texts. it is necessary to improve the module that allows to import a greater variety of formats

Overall: for about 5 years the organizational chart of the company where I work is made with this software and in some cases brochures have been prepared when there is not much time to work.

Pros: What I like most about Visio is how easy it is to use and personalize. It really is a program that all those who manage projects should know how to use, seeking in this way to obtain quality results. It is very versatile you can make flows, diagrams, flow charts, maps, everything to enrich and present the most visually appealing information.

Visio offers multiple design options, prototypes and an extensive gallery of images and symbols that collaborate to have quality results, providing information in an easy to understand manner.

Cons: Actually I really like the program, I think its use is necessary, since there is information that should be presented in a more graphic way to improve not only its visualization, but also its understanding and analysis. And in my opinion, Visio offers you all the tools to achieve quality finishes, with its multiple design options.

Overall: My work requires showing technical information in a way where all users can understand it, regardless of whether or not it has technological knowledge, so a flow or diagram is an easy, attractive and simple way to transmit the message you want to send , without needing technicalities. Saving time and complications with users. And with Visio I achieve it in a short time and with quality finishes.

Pros: I liked how well it integrated with Sharepoint, though it's probably more of Sharepoint feature that I like than a Visio.

Cons: We are currently using Visio 2016 and what I dislike about it the most are some of the useful features that used to exist in Visio 2013 that no longer exist in 2016, particularly some of the tools that help automate the organization of diagrams.

Overall: We use Visio to build diagrams of system architecture, infrastructure, and data integration. It has some nice built in tools to facilitate this, but I personally dislike having to use it because it can often be very clunky and resource intensive if your diagrams are very intricate. It's crashed on me many times while trying to do simple things. Fortunately I'm an excessive saver so I rarely lose much work. That said, I only use it because I have no choice.
