We use Google Drive every day across our companies to store contracts, media, and backups. Sharing a file is one link, permissions are clear, and search finds things fast.

Pros

We store everything in Google Drive — contracts, lists, media, backups. Sharing with a partner is one link, permissions are clear, and search finds files fast even with thousands of documents.

Cons

Syncing very large folders to a desktop can be slow, and storage tiers jump quickly once you pass the included space.

I have found Google Drive to be quite efficient for managing various documentation that is related to services. It won't replace specific tools for integrations or incidents, but it will help to manage the information more effectively.

Pros

Google Drive is handy because it allows you to store various integration-related files, updates on processes and services, process documentation, and any information on troubleshooting. Whenever other teams need any document, I don't have to chase anyone for sending the attachment, since I can just share the file. This way, it will be easier for people to stay coordinated, especially if some changes were made to the documentation or procedure.

Cons

The biggest disadvantage of this service is related to the situation when several teams share numerous files. Sometimes it is hard to know what is the newest version of the document or where the specific update was uploaded. More effective approaches to organizing files would facilitate my work considerably.

Google Drive provides high ease of use for engineering documentation and great value for money. Whenever we experienced shared drive permission sync issues, enterprise customer support resolved them fast.

Pros

Real-time collaboration in Docs makes async API spec reviews easy, with great note taking and text editing tools. Shared drives provide excellent document management and reliable data storage for our migration mapping sheets.

Cons

Pasting JSON payloads or terminal logs into Docs often breaks formatting, requiring annoying manual fixes since native code block styling is still lacking.

Google Drive has a large amount of storage for free and is easily integrated with other tools, google or not. I have been using google drive for almost 10 years and it keeps everything organized and reachable for me. I also love that it can be shared across devices.

Cons

I can not think of any cons of Google Drive at this time. I do believe you need an internet connection to sync and edit files.

For a shop with four guys and one office computer, this platform pays for itself. We bumped up to 100 GB once the dyno logs and tune files started piling up, and it honestly costs less than a box of shop rags a month. Editing quotes on Sheets saves me an hour a week, easy. Any small shop ought to use it.

Pros

Last Tuesday I shot some photos of a cracked exhaust manifold on a customer's Tacoma, dropped them in the job folder right from my phone, and the parts counter guy had them before I even finished washing my hands. Every work order, dyno sheet, and wiring diagram we have lives in one folder per VIN. Makes searching for stuff a hell of a lot faster.

Cons

Typing notes in Docs on a phone with greasy fingers is just miserable, so I still stick to scribbling on paper first. A lot of times, shared links make my customers request access, which just leads to a callback I didn't even need. Support is mostly just help articles, though I’ve never really needed anything more than that, honestly.

Pros

I can easily share files with colleagues, access important information from different devices and collaborate on documents in real time. It also makes organizing recruitment files and employee records more convenient.

Cons

When I have too many files, finding specific documents can take time. I sometimes struggle with storage limits, and a stable internet connection is important for working efficiently. I would also appreciate more advanced file management options.

I’m satisfied with Google Drive overall, it has a couple things that frustrate me, like the price and slow MacBook application, but i’ve been satisfied using Google Drive as my primary file storage application for years.

Pros

It’s a great place to upload a large variety of files, and handles it all fairly well depending on how strong my internet speed is. I love how you can make files exclusive, so only one person can access it, or a whole team. I also like that you can transfer files over different devices.

Cons

It costs a lot to purchase a subscription, we deal with pretty large files and you have to pay extra the more storage you need. I also believe it’s easier to use Google drive on my browser than the application on MacBook.

A friend was using it and inspired me to make the switch

My overall experience with Google Drive has been very positive. It is a reliable and user-friendly platform for storing, organizing, and sharing files. I particularly appreciate its seamless synchronization across devices, easy file sharing, and integration with Google Docs, Sheets, and other applications. It also makes collaboration convenient by allowing multiple users to work on documents in real time. However, the limited free storage and occasional syncing delays could be improved. Overall, Google Drive is a useful and efficient tool for both personal and professional use.

Pros

What I like most about Google Drive is its ease of use, seamless file synchronization, and accessibility from any device. It makes storing, organizing, and sharing files effortless, while real-time collaboration allows multiple users to work on documents together efficiently.

Cons

What I like least about Google Drive is the limited free storage space, which can fill up quickly when storing large files. Uploading and syncing can sometimes be slow with a poor internet connection, and finding specific files becomes difficult when folders are not properly organized.
