Pros Google drive is fine when it comes to cloud storage but can quickly get messy with more number of files. Cons Shared files and folders are not managed well. You can not have a common folder for team members. Every shared items lands in 'Shared Files' which becomes difficult to manage. Another problem is that you need internet connection to open files created using google drive - it's inconvenient. This is great because it offers me enough room to backup most of my files and know their safe and secure. Another benefit is that I can easily access my files anytime I want. I also save money by using Google Drive over other storage companies that charge for their services. Pros Google Drive has been the most reliable cloud storage service I have every used. I can trust that the files I upload to them will be safe and secure. The upload times are very fast and efficient. I love how they give you a free 15 GB of space to use however you want. This is a lot more than competing services out there. The layout of the website is very clean and easy to navigate. I have never had trouble finding a file or folder that I have uploaded because of their great search capabilities. I like how you can pay a fee for more space if you need it. The prices of those fees are a very low and I might upgrade to them in the future. Overall, Google Drive has all of the features you would want in in a cloud storage service. I recommend them to everyone I know. Cons I wish they offered a little bit more free storage. The 15 GB is great, but I have a lot of large files that I can't upload without paying. This is not a deal breaker though. You can use the app as well via a web browser. The real-time syncing speed is amazing. Pros Drive is robust and you can share and backup folders you like. Folders can be arranged neatly. It's very user-friendly. It is real-time syncing is very quick, and we have 15 GB of free storage. You can upgrade the storage and I trust it's worth the price. Even their data security is perfect. Admittedly, there are services which offer more but personally 15GB has always been more than enough. As a Software Developer, it is great for backing up smaller projects which do not yet have a place on Version Control such as Github or Bitbucket. Another incredible feature is its integration with other Google products such as 'Google Docs', 'Google Sheets' and the like. These make it really easy to collaborate with others by sharing your documents so that they can be worked on by multiple people in real time. All seamlessly within the browser. Another feature of note would be the ability to add extensions to your drive to add even more functionality. On of these I use is 'ZIP Extractor'. This allows me to decompress and unzip folders without having to download the file locally, unzip it and re-upload, now it can be done directly in Google Drive. Oh and did I not mention, all of this is FREE! Cons Overall, I guess the only con of note would be that for the power users, 15GB will not be enough for you. In which you should consider either purchasing more space or using another service. " October 1, 2018 5.0 I have used Drive for about 4 years now. First integrated when I got my first Chromebook. I was tired of the overly complicated and unpredictable nature of my old storage software. I am an artist who doesn't need any more complexity in my life. google drive was sweet short and to the point taking no time to figure out and fully functioning my files. I know they are safe and never have to worry that Ill run into a problem I can't fix. That security is priceless and would gladly pay any price for it but luckily I don't have to. Google Drive is afordable and adaptable and really i couldnt ask for more. Pros the ease of use and simplicity of Google Drive makes it one of the most user-friendly softwares around. Having all the quality you would come to expect with a Google made software. Google doesn't sacrifice its functionality and or it's aesthetically pleasing design and that is refreshing with user-friendly software. They seem to find the best middle ground for simple yet bold all while keeping everything extremely affordable. I have yet to find anything that has all of those qualities. Cons Just as a personal request I believe that there should be more customizable features within the design. I like to personalize my file space but it is probably for the best. If I upload a new document to a shared folder, anyone I have shared that folder with gets notified and has access. You can also see a history of changes made to folders and documents, see who made those changes, and revert to old versions if necessary. Pros My favorite feature is it's integration into gmail, so fast and easy to email and save documents, especially from mobile decides. You can save to a specific file with just a couple of clicks and save yourself from having to organize your downloads folder later. Also keeps device storage freed up. You can automatically back up almost any type of document automatically, access from any device and make documents available offline if you plan to be away from wifi for a bit and still need to make changes to documents. Cons The only real con is that the free version of drive limits storage capacity at 15 GB. It could you years to reach this point, but once you do, you'll have to either back up and delete old files, or pay for a subscription. Review Source JM Jeff M. Pros For starters, 15gig of free storage is quite generous for day-to-day use. it's drag and drop facility is very simple to use, and it is easy to organise your folders. Naturally enough, if you are an Android user or a Google searcher and downloader, synchronising your files and photographs is astoundingly easy. And Google Drive seems to be the go-to drive for those who want to automatically back-up/archive their daily image and document requirements. Google also have their own Google docs editing and sharing feature, as well as a very helpful document collaboration feature where multiple "editors" can edit documents. Google also automatically files your backed up images according to year and you can delete your images from your phone safe in the knowledge that they are stored in your Google drive. Like any online storage or cloud system, Google Drive means you can access your files and images from any computer or internet-connected device, very helpful if you need to work on something away from our own PC (or device). Cons The biggest downside is the invasiveness of Google who require access to your photographs. It's all above board and legal, but the question does have to be asked, "why?". Cons There's really not much I can speak to on the cons of the software. Occasionally, because I have both individual user and business email accounts attached to Google, I will not realize which account I'm in prior to having created a document/spreadsheet/project, and will have to transfer that from one Google account to another, or just copy-and-paste. This really has nothing to do with the software; more user error in not paying attention to details. April 24, 2019 4.0 A great cloud storage option for small or medium sized companies that works really well cross-platform Pros As a cloud storage program Google Drive is great. 15gb is more than enough for standard office-type files (if you're dealing with a lot of HD video this will obviously need increasing for a fee) and the interface is pretty simple to use. It's easy to import/upload documents and sharing with other Google accounts is a doddle. You can use it as a kind of Dropbox with shared folders than can be updated by anyone - or you set permissions for what actions different users can take. The interface is folder-based and you can easily pick it up very quickly. The cost is low and even if you have to upgrade then it doesn't cost that much. The fact that you can log in on any device and access all of your files is brilliant. Cons It's quite clunky to go from one sub-sub-sub-sub folder to a different folder-within-a-folder-within-a-folder. There should be an easier way to view the layout of your drive and quickly select which folder you want to look at. If you don't have an internet connection then you have absolutely no access to your files (but this is an issue with all cloud storage) It's difficult to share files with somebody who doesn't have a Google account - you have to download then send as an email. There should be a wetransfer-style link sharing option. Pros Google Drive is an amazing service which gives you a completely free storage service of 15 GB for all of your files only with just a Gmail account! And you can expand it up to 100 TB with a paid plan. Google Drive is so user friendly with its outstanding UI that anyone can use it without previous experience. What I love is hove Google Drive got me covered in anywhere in the world, by letting me access all of my files from any device! That is something very useful both in my work and personal life. Ability to preview my files and open them with apps in the drive is just splendid. And it takes no time to find my files because they are organized well and Google Drive lets me search the files. I would definitely pay and get a plan with more storage in the near future. Cons My only concern is the time it takes when I'm uploading my files, Maybe this is mostly because of the internet speed. It has saved my businesses and I an incredible amount of time and an even larger amount of money with how affordable they keep their prices. Pros The search functionality on Google drive is incredibly efficient and accurate. Instead of spending a few minutes searching through a jungle of client folders to find a simple document, the search functionality gives me everything I need in a matter of seconds. Even if I do not remember the title of the document, I can search for words or characters in the document and Google's search functionality will find what I need. Cons The main issue I have with Google drive is the initial load time when opening the web application. While I do have over 90GB of files on drive, I certainly expect quicker load times from an application as widely used as Google Drive. Even on my workstation computer with server grade hardware, the application struggles on load times which leads me to believe that their is a server-side bottleneck. I've never been more impressed with it than I have been these last few years when my company upped our storage and the features we use for each individual. Collaborating on projects and documents is something I do daily and Google Drive makes it easy with shared drives along with my own work drive. I can give permissions and restrict access easily, drag and drop into the drive (Google Drive for Macbook is a must too) and so much more. Using all the Google products along with the Drive makes everything seamless. I even use Google Drive with my personal email address for all my personal things that I want to easily access.
