It is an easy to use because it does not require a special configuration for its use. it is an alternative to send heavy files that can not be sent by mail in a normal way. This service is free at the beginning, when you have less than 15GB to put in your unit. Flexibility and diversity of uses are the main qualities of this Google service. I like the opportunity it offers to use these services to create a presentation and fill in online databases and share it. has been a very useful tool in the work because it allows the simultaneous work of many people, allowing to reduce working time to be more efficient. Cons The mobile application does not work like the web version, its operation is cumbersome. Personally, I think that they should work on improving the presentation of the Google Drive tools to make it more visible and friendly. Working with formula is more difficult than working on an excel sheet. Pros Google docs and sheets are great for use in a work setting. You can easily share documents with other team members on or off site allowing the right people access to edit, comment, or only view any of your documents. The integration options where Google Drive is set up as a folder on your computer to save to is a life saver. I save all of my documents to Google Drive so that I can access them from anywhere and any device. The app is great too! I love how the files are updating in real time so multiple people can work in the same documents at the same time. I like that you can save non-Google documents and images to Google Drive. For businesses - being able to take any folder or document and make someone else the owner is so ideal. This works perfectly for employees that leave the company or people who change positions and need to pass document ownership onward. Cons When you go to open certain docs from Google Drive, you are unable to open them in their original program because it has to be a program that is integrated in Drive. This is sometimes a big downer for opening things like PDFs. There is a workaround to open the PDF program first and open from Google Drive instead of trying to open from Drive directly. Any time I want to send someone files, I tell them to get on Drive, and if they aren't, it's usually a lot more complicated to send them files. Pros The biggest benefit to this software is how it basically makes flash drives obsolete for file transfer. Anyone at my company can throw files up to our Google Drive, privately or not, and then they can be accessed from anywhere. You also have the security that Google guarantees, so as long as your password policy is good, your data is likely to be more secure. But mainly, I like being able to access files easily from my desktop, laptop, or phone, without having to carry around a portable drive. Cons Two things I dislike the most about Google drive are the search function and navigate the file structure. First, the search function will easily bring you to the file you are looking for, but it is optimized to find files, so if you're trying to navigate to a folder, it's much harder. For example, if my company has a folder named "data," the search function will bring up any files that contain the word data in their name or contents before it'll bring up the folder named data. This leads into my second point, that sometimes I'm trying to find a folder where something is located, but Drive is different enough from Windows File Explorer to make it really hard to find a folder where something is located. Like I just said, the search will usually lead to files, but it's impossible to navigate to the folder that the file is in. You don't need to carry a USB drive with you, just log on to your google drive and upload your data in an instant. I would recommend everyone to get this software. Pros The best thing about using drive is the ability to have your documents available to you everywhere if you have an internet connection. An added feature that lets you make documents of your liking to be available offline is also very powerful. You can also install drive for desktop on your computer (or Drive Filestream if you have a business/educational account). All your files stay synced. You can also sync the photos you take on your phone with you google drive account. You have the ability to upload folders as well, not just individual files. If you're looking to share stuff on your drive, you can allow certain individuals access (other's wont be able to see it), so your privacy is safe. You can also create different team drives for different projects. Cons The thing that I dislike about google Drive is that when you try to upload a folder that contains thousands of small files, the upload tend to fail to complete 75% of the time. So you have to zip and upload them, I sigh google could fix that. The sync across all devices doesn't happen instantly, it takes about a minute or two to appear everywhere, I find that too slow. I have used it for years, through my work and even in education. I can access all my documents from anywhere without needing to save it to one particular place. Get rid of your USB's for document transportation, because I can pull up any of my powerpoints, documents, spreadsheets, video files, pictures, and graphic designs on any device with wifi connection. I have it on my phone and can even edit documents on the go. If you wanted to work offline, go for it! Simply download your files. I use my google chromebook to work on the go, and everything is all in one place. If for some reason I didn't have a device on me, I can still easily access my documents by signing into someone else's computer or phone. Google essentially runs my business, and I am pretty satisfied with that thought. Cons If you are a disorganized person, Google Drive can be a little overwhelming. There are several ways you can organize your files, and you can easily lose things if you were shared documents and they ended up in other folders. In addition, Google has many options for a variety of tasks. Having so many functions is a great thing! But I often find I have to look up tutorials semi-frequently to remember how to navigate all the functions. If you're sharing 10GB of video, it is easy to miss files during the download. It actually takes a lot of time to manage what has made it offline and what still needs to be downloaded. If my computer were to suddenly explode tomorrow, all my data would still be on my Google Drive. Thanks to the online software it includes, I can even work on files online on a computer without any comparable software installed. Pros I like that I get 100GB of online cloud storage. Or, if you don't need that space, you already get 15 GB free! This means that all my files, photos, email, etc, is safely and securely stored in the cloud, and available to me anywhere I have an internet connection. Impressive collaboration with others, the ability to share folders or individual files with family, friends, co-workers, anyone that needs to know! The ability to create word documents, spreadsheets, presentations, or forms that will collect data into a spreadsheet for you all ONLINE without the purchase of any software is simply remarkable! I no longer use a traditional external hard drive to back up all my computer files, I simply have Google Drive installed on my computer, and everything is synched, so I can access that file I was working on at work from my house later that night if I need to without having to do anything at all other than saving the file! Cons I don't like that there isn't a simple version history option natively or the ability to add labels to files or the ability to add a workflow and approval process. It would also be great if there could be file notes that were visible when you click on or hover over the file without actually opening it. This would make it a lot easier for teams, say, working on writing blog articles for the company, to see the stage the document is in, know who needs to take a look at it next, or who it needs to go back to, so on and so forth.
