Overall, Google Drive has been a core component of our digital infrastructure. It enables efficient collaboration, secure storage, and easy access to company data across multiple projects and teams. It works particularly well when combined with other tools to build automated workflows and document management systems. While it is not a full document management system on its own, it provides a very strong and reliable foundation for building scalable operational processes.

Pros

Google Drive is extremely reliable and essential for managing company data and documents in a structured way. It integrates seamlessly with tools like Google Sheets, Forms, and third-party platforms, making it ideal for operational workflows. We use it to store site documents, delivery notes, invoices, and automated uploads from forms, which creates a clear audit trail and centralised access. The ability to control permissions, share files easily, and access everything from any device is a major advantage.

Cons

Managing large volumes of files and folders can become difficult without a well-defined structure. Search works well, but organisation still relies heavily on manual folder management. There is also limited native functionality for advanced document control, such as version enforcement or structured workflows, which sometimes requires external tools or internal processes.

Alternatives considered

[Dropbox Backup](https://www.capterra.com/p/10019994/Dropbox-Backup/)

[OneDrive](https://www.capterra.com/p/161304/OneDrive/)

Reasons for choosing Google Drive

Google Drive was chosen due to its seamless integration with the Google Workspace ecosystem, including Sheets, Docs, and Forms, which are already widely used within our operations. Compared to alternatives like Dropbox or OneDrive, it provides better collaboration features, real-time editing, and easier file sharing. It also offers a more intuitive interface and simplifies workflow automation when combined with other tools, making it more suitable for managing operational processes and documentation.

As a google workspace company, drive is integral for our workflows. I can store all my file, share internally and externally, and easily preview files of many different types. We can also connect to other apps so files can be used seamlessly across our product stategy.

Pros

It's our central file storage solution. We can easily share files with the company, and everything is backed up. The UI is great to use, and there is multiple ways to access files (app, desktop, website), which means I can always find what I need wherever I am.

Cons

The only thing I don't like is the suggested files, they don't seem that accurate to what I'd like to view. Opening at the 'My drive' or 'Recents' on the homepage would be more useful for me, or the option to change the homepage.

Pros

sharing files and folders is easy. I use this mostly for sharing files to clients, sharing footage with social media manager, and staying organized. In addition to that, the whole google ecosystem is straightforward to use whether it be documents, sheets, forms. I love being able to upload files from my phone as well.

Cons

Not much. When videos are dragged from photos on the computer, they sometimes don't transfer as videos. But it can be easily fixed by clicking import and selecting the videos as opposed to drag-and-drop.

My overall experience with Google drive has been. Nothing but 5 stars. Along with how easy it is to use, store files, pics, documents, collaborate and share with employees, but also the security with your data. INCREDIBLE!

Pros

I am still in love with Google drive. You can access it virtually anywhere in the world, on any devices, and from any operating system. If you don't use Google drive to store and share your files, you are missing out.

Cons

What I like least about Google drive is if you go over the allotted GB and for get to renew or upgrade you do loose some files until you upgrade higher GB or TB.

Very good, able to use it for so many reasons, drawings, projects, photos, editing and instant access for personal and work reason. Would always use it and highly recommend it. Keep up the great work Google!!!

Pros

Able to access my files anytime , anywhere so I don't need to Carrie usb drives around anymore. Using it for work and personal reasons. Great for company sharing documents with different, the cost is fair for company and worth it.

Cons

sometimes files dont sync properly and have issues with the desktop app sometimes not working due to showing update required but after I do the update of the app, it still shows the same message. Can be a bit buggy sometimes. Support is not always as fast as you would like, most of the time it would just refer you to a guidance doc online.

Overall my experience has been good. The pros definitely outweigh the cons and it did not take long to get past the navigation issues I had.

Pros

I liked google drive because of how easy it was to use. Storing all of my files in one place makes it easy for quick access. Sharing files with others and having others share with me is good with this..

Cons

Sometimes Navigating through can be a little confusing, especially when I'm trying to see just one kind of file such as a google doc vs a google slides file.

How Capterra ensures transparency

Capterra lists all providers across its website—not just those that pay us—so that users can make informed purchase decisions. Capterra is free for users. Software providers pay us for sponsored profiles to receive web traffic and sales opportunities. Sponsored profiles include a link-out icon that takes users to the provider's website.
