Overall, it helps me manage my work and my family uses it as well. I like that it is an all-in-one solution for many things so I don't need to manage tons of different services.

Pros

File syncing, calendar/office management, plugins

Cons

Sync client can be a bit slow/unstable, add-ons aren't always updated quickly after major version changes

Very good, good performance. Ease of use. Well-maintained.

Pros

It is very straightforward to set up and very easy to enroll users. It is a very credible in-house replacement for dropbox, contacts, and calendar.

Cons

Its dependence on apache and php. There is a real vulnerability there. Beware when rushing into upgrades of those. If they break, your Nextcloud is broken too.

Nextcloud is actively being developed and is introducing new features. That makes it a very attractive proposition.

### "NextCloud is still a FOSS project"

Pros

NextCloud is a very powerful collaboration platform for us. We use Deck, the calendar, file sharing, and collaborative editing (with Collabora Online) most. I LOVE the fact that it gives us the capabilities of products like Google Docs and Dropbox without the cost, and more importantly, the privacy issues of the commercial products.

Cons

It's an open source project, so it does have the feel that a lot of features are barely tested and sometimes just plain not finished.

### "Nextcloud: Take Ownership of your Cloud"

We use Nextcloud for in-house hosting of documents and easy sharing between computers. We also use the integration with Collabora to provide document editing in the cloud.

Pros

I love that Nextcloud is a pluggable platform that allows me to control how many cloud capabilities I use.

Cons

As a collection of random open source projects, it lacks the polish that the industry kings like Google, Microsoft and Apple offer.

### "A well maintained secure cloud solution"

Not relying on 3rd party providers gives peace-of-mind in terms of privacy. The fact that it is all open-source gives us the ability to ensure where our data is going and how secure it is being stored. This comes with a lot of responsability, which is why I miss a built-in backup feature. However, if you deal with that otherwise, this solution is almost perfect. It runs stable. It has lot's of apps that are useful and which replace tools that otherwise would have been outsourced to 3rd party providers. This is the best solution out there if you want to take control over your data.

Pros

It seems the developers have thought about almost everything. From how easy it is to install and operate, to how secure it is and how easy it is to implement security hardening meassures.

Cons

I miss a built-in backup feature. This isn't critical though.

It's great for sharing files, videoconferencing, notes, calendar, contacts, passwords...

Pros

Ease of use, simple setup, little maintenance and a lot of features.

Cons

Not as polished as alternatives, a bit buggy, not all add-ons work well.

Sometimes certain plugins and apps break the nextcloud and the admin needs to manually go and disable it

Pros

It has plenty of features and feels very well optimized for every mobile or desktop platform.

Cons

The system has crashed when installing and applying updates, not always but very often. It usually solves by restarting it.

Really lovely for start-ups. My customers love working with Nextcloud.

Pros

Easy to install Easy to understand for customers Uncomplicated Updates (easy to update) Much Plugins and addons Nice customization options

Cons

Currently no release features with virtual drive for windows. Slow Sync when more then 50Gb of data with lot of files (just pdfs, mails, images) are hosted inside of Nextcloud.

Active development and nice frontend. All other tests where also good (user experience and the other positive things from above)

Pros

We rely on Nextcloud for synchronization and sharing of our data, while still retaining complete control of where it lives and who has access. We've never had an issue.

Cons

It's hard to find anything to complain about. It works as advertised and we've never needed to look for any support.

Cons

Encryption at this point isn't default. This isn't to far off in development so don't let that deter you. For my use case, once this is enabled I doubt there'd be much to gripe about

Orientiert sich stark an den UI-Interfaces der anderen Clouddienste. Performance und Stabilität sind gut. Es gibt einen guten Mobile-client. Man kann Dateien oder Ordner mit Links spezifisch freigeben.

Cons

Design ein wenig altmodisch. Produkt noch nicht ganz ausgereift.

Have used for several years on a daily basis to sync up development projects in real time and provide version control on documents, along with project management and document preparation and sharing.

Pros

This software ticks so many boxes, it just works, well, lets us sync up files everywhere automatically through client software and web clientless access too - really great!

Cons

Sometimes slow syncing very large quantities of files, background housekeeping implementation is a bit messy!

It can be customized completely. The built in App Store makes that very easy.

Cons

There's not really anything to complain about. Upgrades to new versions can sometimes be a bit tricky, but nothing a developer could not handle.

Pros

This software is very easy to configure and implement. Due to GDPR most file sharing sites now can not be used by my company internally due to the risk of data leakage this software reduces this by being self-hosted.

Cons

There is a little learning curve if you have never installed this type of software before.

Pros

Nextcloud is great to set up on a machine at home, and the docs are great for optimization. There are a load of features and ways to have a secure and private cloud service

Cons

I would love more information on how to harden security even further than what the docs give. I would love a dedicated music app for android or for the music app to support more advanced features (equalizer, gapless playback, caching). I know that alternative ampache/webdav solutions exist, but it would be a great experience to have that within that nextcloud app, itself.

Easy to install and use, work with Mac and Windows transparently on privately owned space with the internet service provider.

Nextcloud has allowed us to centralize the documents in a single repository, accessible from INTRANET and INTERNET from different devices.

Pros

Nextcloud allows us to centralize and distribute internal documents quickly and efficiently throughout the organization.

Cons

It does not have collaborative editing modules natively. However, it is possible through integration with other applications.

No spying / stealing of your data - you are in control! Finegrained user access management great improvements with each release Open communication when there are issues + fast fixes for severe issues Bug bounty program helps identifying issues Dropbox replacement App ecosystem Sync clients on all plattforms / devices (Windows, Mac, Linux + mobile clients)

Cons

No negative issue to report for me. You just need someone who can set up the server instance properly.

Pros

The ease of setup, Nextcloud is a snap-in on Ubuntu server installations, so installation is as easy as installing the snap-in and setting it up via a completely guided setup! No "paywalls" and no missing features make it a keeper for my homelab setup!

Cons

Interaction with other server software(s) or the host Operating system would have been a nice feature, but easily correctable with install-able software.
