Pros Open source and secure. The ability to self host. Customizability and extensibility with add-ons. Cons I can't think of any negatives. Pros I did download and install a communityversion of this application. It was easy to install and worked fine! Massive amount of features. Even IT-inexperienced craftspeople can use this cloud within a few minutes and thus feel a significant added value in their daily work and in the course of digitization. There are more plugins and apps available for Nextcloud than what it seems. It is also super easy to customize things. Pros The amount of features that it has... it has all that Google Drive offers and more. Apps for mobile and desktop are available to connect with Nextcloud. The documentation to set up and customize your own instance of Nextcloud is super well organized and readable. Cons Although it is very well documented (and the documentation is easy to read), it is difficult to find a solution online for a problem that is not in the documentation (this only happened once to me). Pros I have used Nextcloud to replace many of the apps that I had previously used from Google. The calendar and contacts are great. I also use a number of the other apps sporadically. Cons I wish that the Nextcloud app included the calendar or that there was a standalone calendar app. Connection between Nextcloud and the calendar app that I use is sporadic at best. Its fast without too many issues. The apps available are pretty good and provide a lot of features. Cons Implementation and configuration is very painful. We are using to share files with any sector of the company. Sometimes I need to work at home and I simple need to upload all my stuff and then I can work home. Pros Easy way to upload and download all yous files. The desktop version works very fine. We use in the company I work to share a lot of important things with the shared folders option. Once you upload your files you know they are in a secury place. Cons The desktop client gets a lit bit slow sometimes to upload files in computers that is older of the company. Pros The ease of use for new users, they've got a winning design that doesn't confuse your average user but enables them to do more with less. Cons Some additional integrations would be potent in the success of the application, tools that people have come to expect from their workplace environments. Reason for choosing Nextcloud Self-Hosted, we need to be able to host our own solutions on prem and maintain control over our data. Nextcloud gives us the freedom to do so and it does it well. Pros One of the things i like about this software is it is free to use initially and as you need more space and features you can start with the paid plan. Our website is data based and to keep everything in sync and at one place can be very difficult. Nextcloud has helped us a lot in managing our data, remote access, assigning user/admin roles and above all keeping it safe. Cons Backing up is your responsilibility. For some small business, it can be a cheap and achievable option compared to paid services. Still you need to consider that on premise technologies have their own maintenance costs, and don' t come for free. Pros NextCloud is an open source cloud storage and collaboration service. It's main advantage, compared to commercial services like Google Cloud or Dropbox, is that you can install it on your own server, being the real owner of the data. It's also a fully featured collaboration tool, with contacts and calendars management. Cons Sometimes users can experience syncing conflicts. Turning on preview features on image and pdf files can slow down the server. It has a calendar feature we'll be exploring next since we do not use exchange. I have been looking for an easy to use company calendar and am hoping this will be it. Pros We just switched over from OwnCloud to NextCloud as we needed better security for my HR files. We are in the process of digitizing everything and I needed to make sure my HR docs were secure from everyone but my HR department. Once my programmer set this up I was able to create the folders that I need, share with whom I need do and have confidence that they are secure from those that should not have access. It is very easy to use. Cons We have only been using it a couple of months and so far I have no complaints.
