I manage my whole office wth Nextcloud. After changing from Office 365 to Nextcloud, I never had any problems with documents, licence, storage or any other organisation trouble.Everything is under my control and just works. And that for very little money. Pros Nextcloud has a solution for any part of my job: Cloud storage, office software, time tracker, messenger, contacts, mail, maps, even a cook book :). Cons Nothing. This is what i'm searching for. Reason for choosing Nextcloud Because its more secure, its much cheaper and I can build it with all the features I need. And it's available for Linux. February 10, 2021 5.0 After the initial pains of setting up the server and getting this software installed, I am very happy with how it works. It has a lot of features (more than I even need) that make it an excellent replacement for many other internet services. Pros Private! Your files are NOT stored on a big tech web server somewhere and analyzed to make them money. You have total control over how your data is used and where is is stored. FREE! Apart from the hardware (to run this on) or server hosting fee, this software is totally free. It can easily be setup to use much larger storage devices than a traditional (big tech) service offers you. Cons Takes a good amount of technical knowledge to set this up. You have to know how to setup a sever, how to install apps in Linux and you are also responsible for security. August 23, 2019 5.0 We had to share documents and files with users and customers and existing solutions were too intrusive and zero trust (dropbox and google), and we host our own nextcloud, protecting our assets and data now, keeping the basic functionality and added more things that others didnt offer Pros get rid of googles and dropboxes and stuff... I use nextcloud to provide simple cloud hosting with user permission groups controlling access, and for realtime audio/video chat via the Talk plugin. I prefer owning my own data and it's very low maintenance. Pros Nextcloud comes with everything you need in a cloud. I use it for calendars, reminders, bookmarks, news feeds, documents, video calls, photos, and notes. It's easy to set up and maintain, but there are hosted options as well if you prefer zero maintenance. Cons The UI for some of the apps available for Nextcloud can feel a bit unpolished compared to other major cloud providers, but it doesn't hinder functionality. Switched from [Google Workspace](https://www.capterra.com/p/247901/Google-Workspace/) I prefer providers with a focus on privacy and ethical business practices, and I believe Nextcloud is relatively good on these points compared to many other options. Cons There are no cons, just use it. The use is that simple, that's why I'm postitive and don't see any disadavantages compared to other products. Easy to share one document with someone else, without sending it as an attachment to an e-mail. Pros Very user friendly UI. Easy to use in a modern design. Updates on a regular basis and easy to upgrade using the web installer. Software is open-source and you can make your own plugin if you like.
