My journey so far with Rocket.Chat has been a satisfying one, it’s been a great tool for instant chat, channels and document sharing.

Pros

It’s bulk instant messaging is the most effective feature than in any other chat application which made our group chat extremely efficient.

Cons

I don’t see any feature mistakes but if we want to take an action such as deleting chats it can take a bit some time.

Pros

One of the most important pro is the data protection, you know that all the info disclosed through messages are secured. It can be downloaded on different devices: Android, iOS, Windows, Linux. The app is really easy to use, has a lot of helpful features to maintain good communication.

Cons

There are only two things I would like to see Rocket.chat improve: the Search section (searching for a specific word won’t show the right results, but random messages), and that the new messages notification don’t always pop up.

Pros

Rocket est une bonne solution open-source, mais a de nombreux défauts. En dehors de son coût gratuit, on peut y intégrer quelques outils. On peut y gérer différent canaux de discussions ou des groupes, mettre des utilisateurs en favoris, et, bien évidemment !, échanger des messages.

Cons

Il est difficile d'avoir des fils de discussions, cela est assez peu clair. De même, l'application desktop est assez gourmand en mémoire et ne permet de sauvegarder ses identifiants, nous forçant à nous reconnecter à chaque fois. Impossibilité de mettre facilement des gifs, impossible d'envoyer certains types de fichiers... Difficile la comparaison face à Slack par exemple !

Rocket.Chat is perfect for setting up a communications channel with a lot of people where investing money for using the software is not an option (e.g. leisure clubs etc.)

Pros

Rocket Chat was a welcome alternative to Slack when we were facing hefty monthly fees to continue using it. Rocket Chat pretty much can do exactly what Slack also can, but it costs absolutely nothing which is great.

Cons

You need to have basic skills in terms of Linux, webhosting etc. to be able to set up Rocket.Chat. Otherwise you're going to be in for a headache.

Pros

J'ai aimé les fonctionnalités de Rocket.Chat. J'ai aimé que l'on puisse s'auto-héberger ou payer pour l'hébergement. Simple à utiliser, il offre de bonnes options pour verrouiller les canaux et il est facile de voir les canaux qui ont été configurés pour un usage public.

Cons

Il ne vous donne pas de description des membres du personnel, comme leur titre de poste ou leur numéro de téléphone. Il change également votre statut en absent, et vous ne pouvez pas le changer sans le redémarrer. Il se bloque toujours quand une mise à jour sort et n'est réparé qu'après la mise à jour.

Wir nutzen Rocket.Chat für unseren Segelverein mit mehr als 700 Mitgliedern. Davon sind teilweise mehrere hundert täglich online. Auch bei hohem Traffic werden Nachrichten zuverlässig und schnell zugestellt. Wir hosten den Dienst auf unseren Servern selbst und haben einen großzügigen Vereinsrabatt erhalten. Lediglich mit den Push-Benachrichtigungen haben wir hin und wieder Probleme.

Pros

Vernetzung aller Vereinsmitglieder auf einer gemeinsamen Plattform, Gruppen- und Einzelchats möglich, Durchführung von Umfragen direkt in Chatgruppen möglich (mit Umfragen-Bot)

Cons

Der Dienst für die Push-Benachrichtungen fällt hin und wieder aus, sodass neue Nachrichten manchmal unentdeckt bleiben
