The free migration of our existing site only needed some small tweaking and we were up and running, and the instructions for moving our domain registration were very easy to follow. Pros We were looking for a new host for our website that would also provide email aliases, and a service that would support email newsletters. This took care of all that in one place. The service was very easy to set up and maintain. We now have board members, who are not technical, approving new members and making updates to our site. Customer support has been very responsive. The price overall wasn't much more than we were paying just for hosting. Cons Any issues we ran into were minor. A couple of the configuration options for changing the appearance of the site were not easy to find, but customer service pointed me in the right direction. There was also a very long lag time when paying for the service by physical check. It seemed to take a surprising amount of time for the check to clear and be credited to our account. It would have saved me so much time over the past 3 years trying to get by without it. We have a small HOA (11 properties) and originally we thought setting up HOA Express would be too much work. Wow that was a mistake. After tormenting ourselves for several years we finally decided to try it and it has simplified things so much. We had an onboarding call with them which was super helpful. Every question we had was answered quickly and it really went perfectly. I would describe the online application as being designed to be user-friendly first. I'm sure they could add in a bunch of features that would complicate it, but as I told the representative during on-boarding, it seems like whoever wrote the software knows what they are doing. Pages load fast and it's well organized... the exact opposite of nearly every other online application I use. I highly recommend this product. Pros Very easy to use, very reasonably prices, and great onboarding support. The application is so easy to add pages, upload documents, and particularly easy to set up members. Cons The initial payment setup takes what seems like a long time. It does happen in the stated timeframe, but it just takes a while. Also, our HOA has several different categories of members, some of which are subject to special group assessments. The invoicing process for dues is simple, but it would be better if separate dues could be assigned to each member or some mechanism to deal with subsets that have SGA's. Price was also a factor. Some of them as I recall charged the same whether you had 10 members or 1000 which was a deal killer. Unfortunately, we have some technologically slow to adopt people. Pros That once it’s completely set up managing an HOA is so much easier!! I can’t wait until it’s all automated. It’s going to make my life so much easier and everyone that comes after me will have everything in one place no creating spreadsheets and members and keeping addresses an email straight. Cons Getting it all set up, but it wasn’t bad at all I had a couple of struggles and reached out to customer service a few times and they were great. Once I started getting a hang of it. Everyone is very responsive, very knowledgeable, and willing to go the extra mile to help us! Our Board made a very wise decision when we decided to create a website for our community and to partner with HOA Express! Pros This is a great platform to create your HOA website. The Customer Support team has been phenomenal from the start. As a non-techie, I was able to create our HOA's website and secure restricted areas for homeowners as well as the HOA Board. The site is very user friendly, and the Customer Support team has been extremely responsive returning phone calls, scheduling meetings, responding to emails, providing access to information for the creation of more complicated requests. They deserve 5 GOLD Stars! The cost is excellent, too, especially when you consider the amount of time and money spent to produce supplies (toner cartridges and paper) for non-internet users. This will become the standard for communications for us in the months ahead. Cons We do not have any complaints about HOA Express. All of the current features and functions meet our needs and, although there are a couple of technical features we would like, they are not significant enough to stop us from utilizing the HOA Express platform now and in the future. Pros It's a great looking interface and our residents love that. For an administrator, it's very intuitive and easy to use. Support is not always instant, but they always get back with me. The online help is extensive, and they are actively update features. Cons I would like to modify the templates, but that is not part of their intended actions. I would highly recommend this tool to HOAs, especially board-managed associations. Pros HOA Express made it very easy to create a website for our association and to get started. It is very affordable, even for our small-sized association. HOA Express staff was very responsive to the few questions we had. They were very supportive in helping us get the greatest use of this tool. Cons It would be helpful if there were user-defined fields available. Our state has imposed a high bar level of new laws that we all have to meet and this website has checked of the notification, transparency and communication requirements. Overall, I appreciate this team and product. Pros HOA Express has created a product that is easy to use - I created my HOA website on a 5 hour flight and had more fun than a free movie. I find that 95% of what I wanted for my website is included in this product. The cost was within my community's budget - we are a small HOA and try to keep costs down for our members. I have used the Customer Support team multiple times to much success. They are patient and very knowledgeable about their product. Cons I think my only complaint is the design is dated. It would be fantastic if there could be some more options here. I would also like a more robust email campaign creator, but in all fairness, I haven't worked a lot with this yet. They have a quick response with accurate information. They provide for a review of the website to ensure that it is professional looking to users. Pros Ability to quickly implement web pages, arrange pages in an order that is customized for our needs. Cons Some pages have a fixed format that can only be changed through HOA Express development. Reason for choosing HOA Express We were able to implemented a professional looking website in a quarter of the time it would have taken us to develop our own. We needed a better way to build a sense of community, improve communication and save time and cost. We evaluated a handful of vendors who provide HOA website templates. Our choices were narrowed to 3: HOA Express, HOA Space and HOA Sites. From the beginning HOA Express stood out when you compared features for the price. The page templates provided everything we needed, they had unlimited document storage with some text messaging included in the subscription and the free trial made it very easy to see our site before we committed to a subscription. They even provide automated letter mailing which we aren't doing currently but hope to take advantage of in the future. Where HOA Express really stood out was with their support. I had some questions during our evaluation phase. My emails were always responded to within an hour. I received email tips during our trial phase that were always timely, including an offer to schedule a 1 on 1 consultation with a designer to ensure we were getting every advantage of the site. I took advantage of this and during our consultation, I had some questions the support person took back to the product team. She responded to me within a couple of hours of our consultation. One of those questions involved the product team making a change to add a link to a section of a page. Very responsive! Our site has been live now for 2 months and our residents love it. Pros \* A helpful website with good content so we could do a thorough evaluation of their platform. \* A very responsive support team who gives 1:1 assistance - more of a custom support experience without the high price tag of other custom web builders. \* Very easy to setup and use - in about an hour, we were up and running. \* Great value and functionality compared to other vendors in this space. Cons There are some limitations in the page templates, but the support team has been very helpful in answering questions about the pages and always shares our feedback with the product team who made quick changes to support our requirements in some cases. The only surefire way was to go door to door or send notices via email. Not being a web designer I didn't want to create my own webpage so I did a search and stumbled upon HOA Express. Hands down it was the best decision we made as an HOA. We have used the service for 4 plus years and haven't had a single issue. Our residents feel informed and always complement the Board for running such an outstanding site. After quickly setting it up I can honestly say that we haven't had to do much to maintain the site at all. Residents can update their own email address and contact information, board members can send out mass notices or post information as necessary. Even coordinating neighborhood functions is easier with the calendar and neighborhood news sections. Support is also top notch. We don't get any spam emails or requests from other services and when you do have a question, Wes always seems to answer immediately. If you do have a suggestion for the site, he looks into it and adds it if he can. You cannot go wrong with HOA Express! Cons I think that each address should count as one account instead of counting the members in each. Some properties have an owner but also a renter inside so it limits the amount of accounts so a property of 200 units really need 400 account usage to account for the actual owner and the renters. It's been a good value for the subscription price and I have to say one of the best features is that they helped migrate our current website over to HOA Express. We like the per directories too! Pros Customer service is great and the website is easy to use. Owners are able to upload photos of their community and share their pets on the pet directory! Cons It doesn’t connect with my current HOA software so that owners can view account balances. Also, there is a fee to process HOA payments. We had an IT person review many sites before purchase. He liked this one best except for the lack of an accounting feature. Pros The site is super-intuitive and staff help was only a few keystrokes away. With their help, getting all the homeowners into the system was easy and uploading documents, setting security parameters, etc. was seamless. I feel the yearly fee is more than reasonable for the service provided. We have not set up the bank account yet but should by the fall. Email blasts are a great feature to get information to our neighbors. Cons Many homeowners have stated they did not get the emails or the HOA Express updates. I suspect spam filters and wonder why I get so much obvious spam but this gets filtered unless looked for specifically. Would love an accounting feature and would spend another $100 for that.
