CEO Music Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "A Major Upgrade" September 10, 2026 5.0 We switched from GiveSmart to DonorView and have been really happy with the move. Having our fundraising, events, auctions, and email marketing all in one system has made things so much easier for our team. The conversion process was smooth, and we were able to get comfortable with DonorView pretty quickly. The support team was extremely helpful through this process. The software is powerful and provides many tools for viewing and processing donor data. We especially like having everything connected to the same donor records, so we can easily see the full picture of how someone is involved with our organization. Overall, it’s been a great switch and has made managing everything much simpler. Pros I find the user interface extremely flexible and powerful for viewing, sorting, and managing donor and event data. Our organization has appreciated having all of our donor data, event management, auctions, and email marketing in one place. The software has been extremely useful through multiple types of events this year, on top of being a constant engine for collecting and processing donations. We have also appreciated the ability to share transaction data directly to Quickbooks. Customer support and training are top-notch. The team was helpful above and beyond expectation at every step of our implementation and continues to support all of our needs. Cons At the beginning, the user interface has a bit of a learning curve, but the support and training materials do an excellent job of addressing this, and my team has come to really like the interface. In our ongoing use, we have found that the software is sometimes slow to load, especially when processing large amounts of data, but this never creates too much of an issue, even during events. It allows us to have everything in one place and has made managing our day-to-day work so much easier. Instead of using multiple systems for various parts of our organization, we can use DonorView for donor management, events, communications, and volunteer tracking. Pros Having our volunteer information alongside our donor and event data has been especially valuable. Tracking volunteers and their time is simple, and we can easily keep up with who is volunteering, how many hours they have contributed, and their overall involvement with our organization. It makes managing our volunteers much easier without adding extra work for our team. Cons I don’t have a con. more of a suggestion for consideration. The Donor Info. section’s display is very detailed, but is without any type of color coding for the various sections for even quicker readability. We eventually decided to move to a different platform that was more customizable for our needs. Pros The best thing about DonorView is that it's am all-in-one option, out of the box. Everything you might want: forms, payment processor, client records: all in one place already integrated. Cons Unfortunately, because it's out-of-the box and fully integrated, it is not very customizable. At our organization, we needed to try and fit our needs into what DonorView offered -- which didn't really work for us. From Donor Management and Nonprofit Fundraising to Family Portals and Event Management, we have reduced the clutter and confusion by pulling it all into one single streamlined system. Now we have all of our data in one location, reducing duplicate efforts and cleaning our data source. A prime example, I have a board member who is a parent to a student we serve, who also donates and purchases event tickets. Previously this person would have duplicate data all over our system. Furthermore, their donations and program fees were constantly miscoded, one for the other. Now, they have a single data set with all of their connection points cleanly organized, and everything is automated down to pushing financial transactions to Quickbooks. In a little over a year, I have already saved dozens of hours and headache, and now I can focus on growth instead of tracking. The value DonorView brings is exceptional, and I look forward to growing with them for the years to come. Cons DonorViews platform is amazingly adaptable to your organziation's needs. With that, it means there can be an increased load in the onboarding phase, setting all the automations and pathways in motion. This is a worth-while pain point in order to take the time to set it up exactly how it best serves the organization. Furthermore, if you are looking for the ultimate clean-line user experience, this might not be for you. At the same time, I would trade UX for tailored data storage any day. We were working with a very tight budget and an equally tight timeline, as we needed to move quickly from our existing system. The DonorView team made the entire implementation process smooth and stress-free. They took care of everything for us, kept us informed throughout the process, and provided clear guidance so we always knew what to expect and what was needed from our team. The level of support and responsiveness has been outstanding. Whenever we have a question or need assistance, the DonorView team is quick to respond, knowledgeable, and focused on helping us find a solution. DonorView is also very easy to use and provides all of the functionality Project Readiness needs in one place. Since making the move, we have been able to reduce manual work and operate much more efficiently. Overall, DonorView has been a great fit for Project Readiness. We use DonorView to keep track of our members, register families for events, and send out email campaigns to keep everyone updated. It’s been really helpful having all of that in one place instead of trying to manage different spreadsheets, lists, and systems. It also makes it much easier for the different people running the PTO to get to the information they need. With volunteers and leadership changing over time, having everything organized and accessible in DonorView helps us stay on top of things and makes it easier for everyone to pitch in. Overall, it’s made managing the day-to-day side of the PTO a lot simpler. Pros Technical support has been phenomenal. I send in a question and within a very short amount of time I am provided how to instructions that make implementation very simple. DonorView has been a really good fit for our PTO. The transition was quick, and the software is intuitive and very easy to use, and we were able to get everything set up and start using it without a lot of headaches. I have been using fundraising CRM solutions for more than 25 years. Within months of joining my current nonprofit, it became clear that DonorView was a vastly inferior product and that it offered no cost savings as an offset to the inferior quality. DonorView was agressive, in predatory, in their efforts to enforce their 'no early termination, mandatory 3 year subcription." DonorView is so bad, we are willing to pay the final 3rd year without using the system just to move on to a useful fundraising CRM. Pros It was simple. But that is one of the reasons we hate this software: it is simplistict, clunky, and very limited in function, even basic tasks like queries and segmenting are poorly designed. Cons It is clunky, unsophisticated and clearly not upgraded as competing CRM options have over the past few years. Segmenting, as basic task, is difficult. The user interface is like something created 10 or more years ago. Their subscription model is aggressive, in predatory. DO NOT FALL FOR THEIR BAIT AND SWITCH. After this organization had used the system for a year, within in days of the annual renewal date, notice was delivered by DonorView that they had unilaterally changed their terms to require a 3-year, no early termination allowed, subscription renewal. If you did not accept, the only option was to cancel within the next few days and loose all access to data. Not a friend to nonprofit organizations. DO NOT SUBSCRIBE TO THIS. I installed this during my busiest time of year and have already started saving time with the mail merge feature and online donation pages. Magic! Pros DonorView is the fundraiser's fundraising platform. 1 spot for events, donations, pledges, etc. It's great! Cons The hardest thing is the training. It's not difficult, but you need to be able to do some self-directed learning or get help 1 on 1. It's intuitive, but takes a minute to understand the terms and vocabulary. To have one system to handle donations, fundraising, volunteer times, sponsorships, grants, and marketing has cut down on the time we spend on just data entry alone. I wish it was not so complicated. Pros Everything is in one place. Setting up the events pages are fairly intuitive and easy to figure out. CRM is easy to use and has a lot of fields for information. Auction forms look nice. Cons Using the event check in and getting peoples cards swiped when they check in. Takes too long, had to do a lot of manual entries. Cannot get a total for each attendee on what they purchased during the event and we cannot see an itemized invoice. Very difficult to issue a refund because you cannot find where to do it. Too many options. Reason for choosing DonorView All in One system. We use it for everything. Before DV, it took about 20 hours a week to enter gifts and get out acknowledgement letters, but with DV it takes just a few hours each week. Plus the letters are automatically attached to the donor's record. When pulling reports before DV, it took someone who knew how to word the "query" correctly, but now anyone can easily pull a report by simply selecting the button which indicates which criteria they prefer. As for email blasts, I have found DV to be just as easy as our previous provider, but much less expensive. Pros There are several reasons why we chose DonorView (DV) as our CRM when making the choice to switch platforms. The first being that DV offered everything in one system. Previously we were using one software for email marketing, one for event management and one for our CRM. Although the CRM we were using did offer event management and email marketing it didn't meet our needs and didn't offer connection points that DV did. DV offered everything we needed in one platform. The second reason we chose DonorView was because of the usability. When pulling reports, mailing lists, or data, we found that we didn't need to know coding or complicated formulas, we just needed to know how to select a button. The pages are easy to understand and very user friendly. Plus if you have any questions they have videos that walk you through the different programs they offer. Which leads me to my final reason for selecting this program; enjoyable. I have found the staff at DV to be very enjoyable and helpful. Anytime I have had a question they respond quickly and professionally. They offer a solution and will walk me through the process . Cons I haven't found anything that is missing from this CRM. We have only been using less than a year, and when I think they are missing something, I call about it and they show me where I can do what I want. Their customer service department responds very quickly if an issue arises and offers great support.Most of my focus is with the email and donor page set up (see above). For email, the templates are pretty basic, but easy to use for the most part. It can be glitchy at times and if you are not constantly saving your work, it is possible for the system to time out and lose any work that has not been saved. If you are looking for a software that is basic and easy to use, this is a great option and they will offer great support along the way. If you prefer something a little "cutting edge" and up on the latest tech, this is not the best option for you. Pros For the most part, the overall system is user-friendly. I appreciate the amount of information that can be accessed within a constituent profile. It is easy to find.Also, having the ability to clone a prior email and edit rather than creating a new one each time has been a great time-saver. I also appreciate the email analytics offered. Cons The donation pages are somewhat clunky and extremely basic. There are no options to create more attraction graphic design features to make the pages more appealing to a prospective donor. In this area, Donorview falls far behind other software I have used with much better and easier to use design features. DV did offer the option to choose from a limited selection of beautiful donor page templates that could be used for Giving Tuesday and Year-End giving campaigns, however, in order to use them they had to set it up for you and those templates are not available for every day use. There was a bit of a learning curve but you will have that with any new software. Any time I have questions or problems, they have been very quick to answer or to figure out what is causing the problem (and sometimes even letting me know that the problem is me). My biggest problem was figuring out the report function (I still have some problems but again I just send an email and they walk me through it). We looked at a few different options and by far this was the best deal around. I am very pleased with DonorView. In fact someone in our organization mentioned about maybe looking into changing software and I flat out told them that I like using donor view, it is very user friendly and if they decided to change it would be without me. That is how much I like using DonorView. Cons With our previous software our donors could be listed as a married couple but with DonorView (as with other softwares we looked) at each person is an individual and then put into a relationship. Not only did it significantly increase our donor base but it just didn't work for us so I ended up merging the married couples together to create one donor instead of two. It would have been nice to have that option of keeping them a married couple at the beginning of our conversion so that I wouldn't have had to do all the merging (which took quite a bit of time). After maintaining a software that we created many years ago, we made a decision to get out of the software business and outsource all software to allow us to focus more on our mission as opposed to software management. All this being said, we spent a few years researching different software companies all to find that we were unable to find a company to fit all of our needs in one place. After visiting with a lot of the large and leading software companies in this industry, we came across DonorView which gave us the opportunity to find a company that had the different pieces of software we were looking for that was all under one roof like donor tracking/management, tracking leader to student interactions, event registration, email communication and much more. Pros The best part about DonorView for our organization is that it fills our need of being an all-in-one software that allows us to do donor tracking/processing/management, event registration, email communication, student and volunteer tracking, and much more. Cons The thing we like least about DonorView is that it is taking us a little while to get used to a new system and we have found things along the way that needed slight adjustments to make them work for our specific needs. Though this has been a small hurdle for our organization, DonorView has been very helpful in providing continued training and has been very willing to work with us to make the software work for us. Outreach Coordinator Hospital & Health Care Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "Difficult to Learn Software" February 8, 2024 3.0 They do an amazing presentation that reels you into loving the software, but you quickly find out how awkward and difficult to use it is. It also takes a while to load the software with your date so that it is "useable", and by that time the free trial is over and you are locked into a contract. Pros I enjoy being able to create a newsletter and see a snapshot of how well it performed once sent. Cons As a millennial I consider myself very adaptable to new technology, but this platform is just overall difficult to use. There are training videos available and you can sign up for webinar training sessions, but even during those live sessions they have an agenda of items to cover (not all of which are relevant to what you may be trying to use the software for) and there is minimal time to have someone actually answer your questions. If you pay more, of course you can have more individualized training, but all the clunkiness of the software it is a big deterrent from using this platform in the future. Review Source TG Tomika G. We still haven't fully learned all aspects of the software, or utilized it to its full capacity, which is a bit frustrating on our end because of the amount that we are investing. We are still a very small organization so it's essential that we get our bang for every buck utilized. I did find that some areas could be more user friendly, but that could just be a user issue... need to do more research/studying to better utilize the services. Cons I honestly still need to delve into the system. I'm still not completely secure in my knowledge of utilizing all of the platforms and therefore still need to research and learn more. It would be nice if there were lower price points for smaller organizations, as the amount that we are investing in the software is a bit much.
