### "Magic fundraising platform!"

December 2, 2024

5.0

It's been A+! I installed this during my busiest time of year and have already started saving time with the mail merge feature and online donation pages. Magic!

Pros

DonorView is the fundraiser's fundraising platform. 1 spot for events, donations, pledges, etc. It's great!

Cons

The hardest thing is the training. It's not difficult, but you need to be able to do some self-directed learning or get help 1 on 1. It's intuitive, but takes a minute to understand the terms and vocabulary.

No integration and really not a very friendly platform. That being said, our salesforce data was super accurate, so the initial data load into donorview was easy.

### "Must have System"

February 6, 2024

5.0

Our overall experience with DonorView has been wonderful. I highly recommend this system to anyone in the Nonprofit world.

Pros

DonorView makes contacting and keeping our donors, sponsor and community members apprised of what our organization is doing easy. To have one system to handle donations, fundraising, volunteer times, sponsorships, grants, and marketing has cut down on the time we spend on just data entry alone. The ability to have a system in place where any staff member or board member can access all the information about what keeps the organization going no matter where they are at has proven to be beneficial time and time again. I am amazed at everything this system has allowed us to do and highly recommend it.

Cons

No system is perfect but DonorView is always looking for ways to improve the system based on recommendations from it's clients. The initial set up of the system was rather time consuming but well worth it in the end.

We decided to make the switched because we needed a system that allowed us to do more within one system and not have to use so many different programs.

### "Didn't Work for Us. "

March 11, 2026

2.0

Not terrific. We eventually decided to move to a different platform that was more customizable for our needs.

Pros

The best thing about DonorView is that it's am all-in-one option, out of the box. Everything you might want: forms, payment processor, client records: all in one place already integrated.

Cons

Unfortunately, because it's out-of-the box and fully integrated, it is not very customizable. At our organization, we needed to try and fit our needs into what DonorView offered -- which didn't really work for us. And the more we used the options to customize, the more expensive the platform got.

### "What to consider when considering Donorview"

March 28, 2024

4.0

I really like most everything about it, and I have used others. I wish it was not so complicated.

Pros

Everything is in one place. Setting up the events pages are fairly intuitive and easy to figure out. CRM is easy to use and has a lot of fields for information. Auction forms look nice.

Cons

Using the event check in and getting peoples cards swiped when they check in. Takes too long, had to do a lot of manual entries. Cannot get a total for each attendee on what they purchased during the event and we cannot see an itemized invoice. Very difficult to issue a refund because you cannot find where to do it. Too many options.

Reason for choosing DonorView

All in One system. We use it for everything.

I liked the idea that Donorview has everything all in one software system. Cuts down on a lot of time when using three different ones for each task.

### "Great support from a great team!"

December 4, 2024

5.0

The experience with DonorView has been great. The level of care from the team has been really useful as we navigate all the complexities of what this tool can offer us.

Pros

One of the most amazing things about DonorView is the level of prompt, useful support that is available. The team is always there to answer questions and help with issues - and that is greatly appreciated, especially when first getting started with the program!

Cons

The one issue that sometimes comes up is that the pages will take a while to load and sometimes hang altogether. Most of the time the page response is really swift - but occasionally it will get really slow and that can be frustrating.

### "Do Not Buy This."

March 20, 2025

1.0

Disappointing. I have been using fundraising CRM solutions for more than 25 years. Within months of joining my current nonprofit, it became clear that DonorView was a vastly inferior product and that it offered no cost savings as an offset to the inferior quality. DonorView was agressive, in predatory, in their efforts to enforce their 'no early termination, mandatory 3 year subcription." DonorView is so bad, we are willing to pay the final 3rd year without using the system just to move on to a useful fundraising CRM.

Pros

It was simple. But that is one of the reasons we hate this software: it is simplistict, clunky, and very limited in function, even basic tasks like queries and segmenting are poorly designed.

Cons

It is clunky, unsophisticated and clearly not upgraded as competing CRM options have over the past few years. Segmenting, as basic task, is difficult. The user interface is like something created 10 or more years ago. Their subscription model is aggressive, in predatory. DO NOT FALL FOR THEIR BAIT AND SWITCH. After this organization had used the system for a year, within in days of the annual renewal date, notice was delivered by DonorView that they had unilaterally changed their terms to require a 3-year, no early termination allowed, subscription renewal. If you did not accept, the only option was to cancel within the next few days and loose all access to data. Not a friend to nonprofit organizations. DO NOT SUBSCRIBE TO THIS.

Alternatives considered

[Neon CRM](https://www.capterra.com/p/102088/NeonCRM/)

Reason for choosing DonorView

We abandoned DonorView (paying the predatory 3rd year of a mandatory 3 year subscription) just to get access to a useful CRM option. We left DonorView and switched to NEON. There were two other equally attractive options we also preferred over DonorView.

### "Don't Use this Software!"

August 7, 2024

2.0

It was difficult to set up. We paid for almost 2 months of service before we could actually use the software. It was not user friendly at all. While they do have good support, we had to continually rely on support to be able to figure out how to do most anything because their technology is so primitive. We paid for a whole year, but only used them for about 4 months. No refunds.

Pros

The IDEA that it could do so much for such a great price.

Cons

That it was like working with a program from the 1990's.

### "Poor use for auction/event"

October 29, 2024

1.0

Pros

The program has many options. It's intriguing to have an all-in-one program for the price.

Cons

This program is not at all intuitive. Support is awful. We pay for a service plan, call support, and receive an email. It's much more efficient to email, but then the level of support depends on who is answering. We have a three year contract. For two years, we've used the program for our annual fundraiser and auction. For two years, we've had multiple complaints from users, which I've outlined below. When I address them via email to support, I'm told that they will work on providing support but there is nothing they can do to remedy the problem. Overall, the program requires MULTIPLE clicks to complete a task. At least 3, most often 6. Here is the issue from our fundraiser this year, which is similar to last year's event: We needed something to trigger that a recurring payment was entered incorrectly from a donor so we could stop that from happening. We also needed something that would tell the donor that they had set up a recurring payment and it was about to be taken out, so they could fix this before it even happened. Because neither happened, the donation was taken, and the donor was unhappy while we had to refund the donation, which took several days. Related to our event and auction on Sept. 27: Multiple issues logging in to the event module and the auction module. The program would just spin, and then not let donors in. Donors would try to go back into the program once they were in it, only for the program to tell them they didn’t have an account or their account wasn’t verified, but I sat with them to do the verification. This happened to our Treasurer; she’s familiar with how to use technology. She was so frustrated, she decided not to bid on anything. We had 5G internet; this was not an onsite wifi or local Internet problem. Nothing to trigger a donor that they already had an account. People didn’t look at “Constituent.” That’s not language they use. We’ve now spent countless hours to clean up the database because people created up to 7 accounts trying to bid for the auction. I’ll relate this to the above problem that people would reenter information in order to bid. There were no emails to participants and no texting to share that they had been outbid, so people didn’t up their bids. We needed that to happen. People couldn’t complete bids or purchases once begun; the program would kick them out and they would need to sign in again, even if they had been signed in minutes before. Donors would come to us to ask for help, and we couldn’t see any notes or faults on our end as administrators. Some participants received emails that they won when they were outbid in the last minute – there was a lag in the processing time in the program and the email went out. I closed the auction at 8:35 and sent out emails a minute or so later. When donors would choose to Buy It Now, they would try to complete the payment, and it would not show sold until minutes later, or would show as remaining open. We would refresh screens and must complete the transaction for them. There were times where I would try to complete the transaction for them, and it would not complete. The Internet was active and on; this was not a case of poor Internet, once again. Because our donors see Donorview as us, this reflects incredibly poorly on us and the quality of the event, in addition to discouraging bidders from participating. We’ve had multiple complaints about the use of the program, and some saying that we needed to change it if they would participate with us again.

Reason for choosing DonorView

A former director chose this product and the three year contract. My understanding was 1. it was a complete product, 2. low cost were the drivers for the decision.

### "Makes our theatre much more organized"

March 29, 2025

5.0

We are able to have registrations, ticketing, donor management and communications in one place, so we can focus on making our programs fund and engaging.

Pros

It's really easy to find information quickly, which has made our check-in process at performances incredibly smooth. We no longer have long lines or confusion at the door, and our team can focus on making the event a great experience for everyone.

Cons

Since our data was in different places, it was difficult to get it organized for data conversion. It's not specific to DonorView, but it took us some time to get everything ready.

### "I can't imagine running our organization without Donorview! "

February 11, 2025

5.0

We have had a very positive experience with DonorView. I can't imagine running our organization without it!!

Pros

As a small organization, we have benefited greatly from having everything in one system. DonorView has allowed us to move registration and ticket sales online--improving the experience of the families we serve. It has also provided better tracking and management of participant and family information--which has alleviated a lot of paperwork for our staff. Our communications have improved by using the email marketing system--and not to mention, the look of our website is much more professional! DonorView is easy to use--both for parents who are signing up for our programs, but also internally for staff and volunteers who work in the system.

Cons

The system can take some time to get comfortable with.

### "Donorview and Non Profit Usage for Donor Management"

October 29, 2021

4.0

Overall experience - I am more efficient in my job (with the exception of the mailmerge feature) - and therefore able to be about the other many tasks that come with the job I have at The Mission.

Pros

I like the ease of use. We used to have a different software that you almost needed to be a programmer to understand how to run simple reports. Donorview makes reports very easy and is easy to train new users on how to use the software as well.

Cons

The mailmerge feature for thank you letters ....

Reason for choosing DonorView

Because Donorview allowed us to not only track the donors, manage the events etc. - but was (at the time) going to be adding more features that would allow us to include volunteers, track hours, contact and see each persons overall engagement with the organization. Still hoping that will be finalized soon.

### "Donorview was a HUGE upgrade from many systems into just one!"

January 16, 2019

5.0

Donorview has made some great modifications based on our suggestions and has worked with us to create affordable personal solution when we really needed it. They are super quick and response to helping probelm-solve and understand the system.

Pros

We moved our database from a FileMaker system which was customized for us but was OLD and was housed on a harddrive instead of the cloud. Additionally, we used an email software, event software, an application/forms software and paypal and NONE of the programs talked to one another. All updates to the database were manual and time consuming. When we moved to Donorview it was such a breath of fresh air to have access to our database anytime/anywhere. Additionally, its exceptionally helpful to have purchases, events and donations associated with client records. We do a lot of events and the event software works flawlessly almost every single time. We also have been able to get creative with the forms/surveys function and recreate documents like waivers and applications in that system. Again, extremely helpful to have applications associated with records instead of having to manually update. Overall, we are so grateful to have a software that does pretty much everything we need it to do. We also appreciate the pricepoint for the amount of functionality that we have. We are a small non-profit so it was a good mid-range product that was accessible to us.

Cons

Donorview has an incredible breadth of functionality that is hard to find all in one software. If you analyze any one of these features by itself (event ticketing, email marketing, surveys etc) there is a bit less functionality and is less user-friendly than if you paid for any of those items individuallyl on their own. (For example, our old ticketing software gave us a few more options and was a bit easier to set up) However, having all that functionality ALL in one place at an affordable price really makes up for those minor inconveniences. (Ex. Our old ticketing system did NOT talk to our database so we had to do waivers/tracking manually which was a real pain in the butt). Overall, it has been totally worth the switch. Also, Donorview seems to be very responsive to suggestions and ideas and as a young company seems to be trying to make constant improvements in their system based on feedback. I imagine that as feedback comes in user-friendlyness will just continue to improve!,

### "Great price for Donor management software."

Super quick support when needed - quick replies whenever we are needing support.

Pros

I like the email templates and the ease of sending out mass emails to donors.

Cons

The software feels a little outdated and can be slow when creating email templates for mailouts. I also feel like the website and donor pages could be updated for a more modern look and feel. User-friendly but could be improved.

### "Do NOT use"

October 25, 2021

2.0

It has been horrendous. In three months, I have put more hours into trying to teach myself this platform, than I spent inside my old platform which I used for 15 months. When you email for help, they get back to you with screen shots and links to articles- very rarely could I get a real person to sit down and talk with me over the phone so I could adequately explain my issues. And it became clear early on that \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\] was bothered with the multiple emails I sent him with questions. I can only stress, again, that if I had received training/onboarding, the majority of those emails wouldn't have existed and I'd have been happily writing some other review for Donor View. The platform likely is great but I wouldn't know that since I have no idea how to use it efficiently. The lack of training and professionalism is appalling. I could not in good conscious recommend this company to other small non-profits (I am a company of one but we service around 3,500 customers annually) unless the training/onboarding issue is resolved.

Pros

The marketing brochure and videos made it look amazing and super easy to use.

Cons

The "training" that was offered. I have paid for onboarding and did NOT receive it unless it was the link to several "overview" videos for each of the modules. Or maybe the consider my training/onboarding to be the repeated links they would send me to their "Support Site". Here, I could find hundreds of questions related to my topic which I then had to hunt through to see if I could find my particular question- and it usually wasn't there. The majority of my questions were one-off's specific to my company. I can only stress that had this company taken the time to thoroughly onboard/train me, I think I would have really enjoyed the product. As it is, my experience has been miserable.

Reason for choosing DonorView

It looked like it was going to meet our needs and I was excited about the supports they supposedly offer.

### "Happy Donorview user"

December 12, 2022

4.0

Overall, we are finding DonorView fits the bill for our organization. It has a little bit of everything, which is just enough for us!

Pros

I really like that Donorview offers a little bit of everything. That was what convinced us that it was the right product for us. We are a small non-profit performing arts organization and we not only fundraise but also host events. So the CRM is critical but also the Events features have been invaluable.

Cons

I find the reporting a little challenging to figure out. I end up using trial and error to find the right combination of boxes to tick to get the info I need.

### "DonorView - The all in one software for non-profit organizations"

November 6, 2018

5.0

We work in the non-profit youth ministry sector and have locations across 8 different states. After maintaining a software that we created many years ago, we made a decision to get out of the software business and outsource all software to allow us to focus more on our mission as opposed to software management. All this being said, we spent a few years researching different software companies all to find that we were unable to find a company to fit all of our needs in one place. After visiting with a lot of the large and leading software companies in this industry, we came across DonorView which gave us the opportunity to find a company that had the different pieces of software we were looking for that was all under one roof like donor tracking/management, tracking leader to student interactions, event registration, email communication and much more.

Pros

The best part about DonorView for our organization is that it fills our need of being an all-in-one software that allows us to do donor tracking/processing/management, event registration, email communication, student and volunteer tracking, and much more.

Cons

The thing we like least about DonorView is that it is taking us a little while to get used to a new system and we have found things along the way that needed slight adjustments to make them work for our specific needs. Though this has been a small hurdle for our organization, DonorView has been very helpful in providing continued training and has been very willing to work with us to make the software work for us.

Pros

### "Fantastic! Meets a variety of needs for an enitre nonprofit!"

July 7, 2017

4.0

Having one database that performs the same functions as our previous three, it is extremely user friendly.

Pros

So far, myself and my organization has had a great experience with Donorview. The transition period was very simple from our old database since Donorview provided ample support and answered all of our questions and concerns over the transition while also merging our data very quickly. Whenever we have any questions or issues the support team quickly responds and helps resolve any issues. My team and I are always excited to see the new features and updates donorview creates as it is always bigger and better. Thank you to the donorview team for such an amazing diverse software!

Cons

The reporting is the part that we struggle the most with, it is not as robust as our old database so that has been a struggle in terms of acquiring donor retention reports with ease. I know that this will soon be an issue of the past as the software continues to develop.

Customer service and tech support is responsive and very helpful.

Pros

Covers many different areas of a non-profit's daily database, fundraising and marketing needs all in one place- one-stop shopping is great!

Cons

Email program and reporting is tricky, not as intuitive. Sometimes takes longer than needed. Also, does not allow PDF attachments or embedding which is tricky. These features should hopefully be coming soon to the program.

Reason for choosing DonorView

Enjoyed the "one-stop shopping" feature so we could collect data, run reports, send emails and have one home for everything.
