Good for Accounting. Cons System crashes, information is not transferable within application. We've used cloud-based, switched to server based. Pros You can make a record look like pretty much anything in Filemaker. It's impressive just how customizable it can be, and you can see everything on one page, instead of needing to scroll threw throngs of data. Cons Filemaker looks like it was made in 1995 and never updated. It's incredibly intimidating and not user friendly to somebody coming on who is not familiar. Simple to create, filter and report off of. Pros The simplicity of this flat file database is really the strength of the product. It requires very little knowledge of databases and can provide a tool to filter and create reports from your data. Cons Not an advanced relational database that works with multiple related tables. Reason for choosing Claris FileMaker This was chosen based upon the ease of use, and ease of training additional users. It allows people who would not have the knowledge. However, for medium or large projets, Filemaker is most of the time a limitation and should be avoid. Pros I like the user interface which is easy to use most of the time. I also like the power of its data management system and its new mobile interfaces. Cons Integrating FileMaker in other applications or a custom applications is hard and frustrating. The documentation of its API is hard to read and integrations with Claro Connect are limited. There was very little organization to them. Using Filemaker Pro, I was able to create a form for the projects. We printed the form to follow the project through the production process. But we used the database it created to quickly search for past projects. It enabled us to check when the same project had been done. Pros I was able to use this software to create a database for our special projects at my previous employer. Cons There was a little bit of a learning curve at the beginning, but I was able to get past it, and use Filemaker Pro with relative ease. I found a developer to pay.
