When my outdated SSL VPN device went EOL and I was in need of a way to inexpensively access my office resources when working remotely, I demoed Splashtop and others and Splashtop just worked! The pricing is fair, and I have been super happy thus far. Pros I love the ability utilize an extra monitor when connecting remotely. My remote system has 2 monitors. My local system has 3, and using Splashtop I can take advantage of the extra monitor I have. I didn't know this was possible when I signed up, but it is the biggest perk I have found! Cons No true cons. If I had to find an issue it is that sometimes the video quality is a little subpar. It is intermittent, and it could be a config error. It hasn't bother me enough to really spend time diving into it. September 23, 2024 5.0 I have been using this solution for my customers for the last 8 years. It was a switch from Logmein who (back then) was closing or changing price range dramatically. Splashtop as been my only solution from 2014 until this year. Pros It's a cross-platform solution, easy installation for remote access. Price is really cheap. Lots of remotes information and option to control the remote devices. Software as fast response from remote machine. Cons The Linux version is not fully working, still as a few bug. The product has been very reliable and the costs and licensing model make it well worth it. The licensing which is based on the number of technicians instead of endpoints, benefits organizations like ours with many computers but few technicians. Pros Our priority when looking for a solution for remote access and support was transparency and access control. With remote access, controlling access is critical. Our previous product, TeamViewer, had many back-doors that could not be managed or audited.For comparison, here are some vulnerabilities in TeamViewer...- Anyone with local admin rights can create a password to remote connect to the computer. This allows any-time access, without the system administrator even knowing that access had been setup.- TeamViewer displays a unique code that anyone at the computer can see, write down, and use to connect remotely. A policy can be setup to rotate the code after each session, but the code itself could not be entirely disabled.- Setting certain access policies to mitigate these issues, such as white lists, created problems when software vendors also used TeamViewer for remote one-time product support.By contrast...- Splashtop only allows remote access if the user/tech has active credentials in the organization.- Access can be further restricted by making sure that the remote user has local (AD) credentials for the remote endpoint.- Modifying the client on an endpoint can be restricted by supplying Splashtop credentials so that even a local admin can't modify them Cons Splashtop works great for our needs, and I have almost no complaints. IT Administrator Government Administration Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Easy to deploy, easy to use" July 26, 2023 5.0 Although our agency provides essential services, during much of 2020 we were required by the state to employ a hybrid work schedule to minimize the number of people in the office at any one time. As this happened rather suddenly, those staff working from home were often using their own equipment. I still needed to be able to support everyone in and out of the office on any equipment, and most staff needed to connect with our on-premise file servers and software. Splashtop was simple enough to deploy that even my most tech resistant users were able to connect and perform the essential functions of their job with minimal instruction. Although we have all returned to the office, we still maintain enough subscriptions to allow employees to work from home when needed, and to provide immediate IT support services to all employees wherever they may be. Pros Pros: Pricing model, ease of deployment, simplicity of connection for end users. There are a several features we don't currently use, but the interface is simple enough that these additional features do not clutter the app with functions confusing to the average end user. I wish I could use it for my personal network. Pros Easy to deploy, access and use. Splashtop really is a must-have remote agent for MSP's regardless of size. Cons The only issue I have with Splashtop is that I wish I could deploy it for personal use. It's an amazing product and my go-t0 remote access agent. It's ease of use make my life so much better and it allows me to log in from anywhere to keep the corporate books from wherever I am. Pros I love that I can manage the corporate non-profit finance and admin from anywhere. It's ease of use and integrations are top-notch. I can copy from my screen and paste into the remote computer. I can screenshot the remote computer or my computer. It's just incredibly easy to use. Cons There is nothing I don't like. It literally fits all my needs and is super easy to use. Pros It is very easy to use. I was not involved in the decision making process of which remote linking program to obtain when COVID hit. I like that it quickly connects with my work computer. Cons Since I have multiple monitors, I have the business version of the program and occasionally it tells me I don't have the right level to access both monitors but it is easily resolved, just annoying. July 29, 2023 5.0 Splastop has been paramount in allowing me to move to another state and keep my job by working remotely. I have never had a problem with Splashtop, it is a fast, light weight program that requires Zero programing, and it works. Pros I appreciate the Simple interface of Splashtop and you view the remote computer as if you are sitting in front of it. The file transfer portion works fast and effectively. Cons The version of Splashtop I am using requires the PCs to stay on, it cannot "wake on command" at least not yet. Reason for choosing Splashtop I read up on a lot of different Remote-Control Software and Splashtop was the only one I would consider for the small business I work at due it is ease of install, the interface is very logical, and it has the tools I need to manage the remote network of computers included at a great price.
