### "Simple, reliable backup tool that just works"

May 4, 2026

5.0

Overall, it's a great product. We've been using it for years, before it was even called Cove. Originally, we had it as integrated backup within our N-Able (then SolarWinds MSP) RMM, but switched over to Cove a few years back. Same technology, but it gave us significantly more reporting options, and made it much easier to verify backups are running across all our clients, without having to go and find each machine in the dashboard. If you're looking for a simple, cloud-native backup that you can easily manage across clients, this is it.

Pros

Cove is very easy to navigate, plenty of information available to troubleshoot, or just check the health of backups. It's always been extremely reliable for any customers we use it with, and easy to restore when needed.

Cons

For some of our larger clients, we like to be able to spin up VMs of backups to shorten downtime. Cove does have this capability, but it relies on a Hyper-V or ESXi host on-premise. With our setups, we ideally want to have a separate physical host for backups, and doing this requires some extra licensing compared to other backup solutions with appliances (usually using Linux to virtualize)

Reason for choosing Cove Data Protection

We've been using it for years, just as integrated backup in RMM. For many of our clients, it fit the bill, and migrating to standalone Cove was as easy as telling support we're ready, and they handled everything on the back end.

### "Reliable and MSP-Friendly Backup Solution with Strong Day-to-Day Management"

May 6, 2026

5.0

My overall experience with was positive, particularly from an MSP operations and client management perspective. The platform was reliable, easy to deploy, and efficient to manage across multiple customer environments.

Pros

What I liked most about was how well it fit into an MSP environment while still being simple to manage day to day. The platform made it easy to deploy backups quickly across multiple client environments, monitor backup health centrally, and verify successful backups without adding a lot of administrative overhead. A few areas that stood out to me: The cloud-first architecture simplified deployment and reduced dependency on complex on-prem infrastructure. The management console was straightforward and efficient for monitoring multiple clients at scale. Backup verification and alerting helped ensure backups were actually completing successfully, which is critical in managed services environments. Restore options were flexible, whether restoring a single file, mailbox item, or a full system. It integrated well into operational workflows focused on backup success rates, disaster recovery readiness, and compliance-driven environments. From an MSP operations perspective, reliability and visibility are usually the most important factors, and Cove did a good job balancing both without becoming overly complicated.

Cons

What I liked least about was that while the platform is very streamlined, some advanced configuration and reporting capabilities felt limited compared to more enterprise-focused backup platforms. A few areas that could be frustrating at times: Reporting customization could feel restrictive, especially when trying to provide highly tailored executive or compliance reporting to clients. Large-scale restore operations could sometimes be slower than expected depending on bandwidth and recovery scope. Troubleshooting certain failed backups occasionally lacked deep enough error detail, requiring additional support engagement or log review.

[Acronis Cyber Protect](https://www.capterra.com/p/237140/Acronis-Cyber-Protect/)

Many MSPs switch from Acronis to because they want a backup platform that is simpler to manage, more predictable operationally, and easier to scale across many client environments. Better MSP-focused management experience Cove’s centralized multi-tenant dashboard is frequently highlighted as a strong advantage for MSP operations, making it easier to monitor backups across many customers from a single interface.

### "Cove Data Protection Review"

May 6, 2026

3.0

Overall, provides a solid, functional backup solution that gets the job done. It covers the basics well and is dependable for day-to-day use, but it doesn’t stand out in terms of speed or advanced features. It’s a decent mid-tier product that works adequately for typical business needs.

Pros

The remote access and backup capabilities are generally reliable and easy to use. It’s convenient to manage backups from a centralized dashboard, and restores are fairly straightforward when needed. The system works well enough for standard backup needs without being overly complex.

Cons

Performance can be inconsistent at times, especially during larger restores or initial backups. The interface feels a bit dated and could be more intuitive. There are also occasional delays in syncing or reporting that can make troubleshooting less efficient.

### "Years of use"

April 30, 2026

3.0

It was rocky at first and the technical support agents were severely undertrained, but that has gotten better over the years.

Pros

Ease of integration into the hosted platform for N-Able. It is vert easy to enable it and with some learning, the configurations are quite simplistic.

Cons

Management not getting back to you or responding. I literally have a product I wrote that solves the horrible billing you have and cannot get management to respond to anything.

Overall experience is good. The support representatives always try with good effort on resolving any issue I have. When not able to resolve they do well on escalating the issue to another tech.

Pros

Top pro is once the service is deployed and working, it works mostly flawlessly. The web-based management is mostly seamless.

Cons

Main con is there should be additional resilience with the app/service on the machines. Sometimes when there is an error the dashboard should have better clarity on what the error is and if it was catastrophic or not. As we know some errors will not prevent restoration from occurring. Also, needing to access the manager from device or remotely can potentially be an issue.

### "Premier Backup Solution"

May 12, 2026

5.0

Fairly experienced -- have used it to restore files, SaaS content (e.g., e-mail or Teams/SharePoint). The support has been wonderful -- they not only teach you about using the product but also give advice on how to utilize the licensing properly and to best value.

Pros

The product works without much fuss and offers a quality dashboard and communications to easily identify if there are any files prohibiting what the software declares as a successful backup.

Cons

It's a fantastic backup product, but is not really what I would choose for a business continuity solution due to its inability to run from a local appliance; it may work via an Azure instance, but not all clients have that in their infrastructure nor would it be as quick to stand up in the event of a "production down" situation.

### "Good product"

May 9, 2026

4.0

Basically good product and operation. Could use some improvement in QA of documentation and support.

Pros

Price point for resale is reasonable. Once configured, typically runs consistently. Rates on cloud storage are good with options on retention. File restore is straight forward. Ability to get immediate alerts to failures is great, daily report of all jobs makes monitoring easy. Ability to manage backups remotely simplifies troubleshooting and changes. Updates delivered automatically.

Cons

Initial configuration was a bit convoluted and documentation could use more detail and clarification. Support by chat is usually very responsive, though again, first responses are typically to send links to existing documentation that doesn't clearly provide the answer. In the end, issues get resolved. Have been using for several years.

### "Reliable and Easy-to-Manage Backup Solution for MSPs"

May 8, 2026

5.0

Overall, we are very happy with . It is dependable, easy to deploy, and well-suited for managed service providers that need a centralized way to protect endpoints, servers, and Microsoft 365 data. The restore reliability, reporting capabilities, and ease of management make it a strong solution. While the storage-related costs and price increases are worth watching closely, the product itself has delivered strong value and has become an important part of our standard client backup stack.

Pros

has been a reliable and effective backup solution for our clients’ computers, servers, and Microsoft 365 accounts. Deployment is straightforward, management is simple, and the customizable reporting is extremely helpful for both internal oversight and client communication. Most importantly, the solution has proven itself when it matters most. On several occasions, we have needed to perform restores, and Cove has worked reliably. That confidence is one of the main reasons we continue to standardize on the platform.

Cons

Our main criticism is the pricing model around storage. Higher storage tiers can increase the ongoing monthly cost, and overage fees can add up as client environments grow. In addition, regular price increases from N-able can make long-term cost planning more difficult, especially when managing backup services across multiple clients.

### "MSP aliened Backup Solution "

May 6, 2026

5.0

Overall, our experience with has been very positive. The platform’s cloud-first approach, centralized management dashboard, and high backup success rate have made backup management far more reliable and less stressful compared to previous solutions we’ve used. The automatic agent updates and simple onboarding process for new devices have also significantly reduced administrative overhead for our team. While there is room for improvement in the recovery experience for offline or decommissioned devices, the platform as a whole has proven to be dependable, easy to manage, and well-suited for organizations looking for a modern backup solution.

Pros

What I like most about is its cloud-first backup approach. We no longer have to worry about backups failing because a local backup destination becomes unavailable. Having everything managed through a single online dashboard is also a huge advantage, as it gives us a clear global overview of all backup jobs and device statuses. We’ve experienced a very high backup success rate, which gives us confidence in the platform’s reliability. The process for adding new devices is simple and efficient, making ongoing management incredibly easy. Another major benefit is that the backup agents update automatically, eliminating the need for the manual update process we had to deal with in our previous backup solution.

Cons

One area where could be improved is the file recovery process when a device is offline or has already been decommissioned. In those situations, restoring files is not as straightforward as we would have hoped. Instead of simply opening the web interface and downloading the needed file, you must load the device into the recovery console first. We experienced this firsthand when a server had been decommissioned and we needed to retrieve a file from backup. The recovery process was more involved than expected and could be simplified to make restores faster and more user-friendly.

We previously used Veeam, and while it was a solid backup solution, scaling long-term backup retention became expensive and difficult to manage. To maintain extended retention periods, customers often needed to purchase 40–50 TB of onsite storage, while we were also paying thousands of dollars for offsite storage. When evaluating other solutions, one of our biggest priorities was reducing the amount of storage consumed by full backups versus incremental backups. addressed those concerns very well by using an incremental-forever backup approach with strong deduplication. This significantly reduced storage requirements while still providing reliable backup retention and recovery capabilities.

### "Cove Review"

May 11, 2026

5.0

Excellent, our time with Cove has been a pleasure. We've been using the product since its launch and it is battle tested. We've done hundreds of restores, a few from ransomware incidents, and Cove has been the hero on numerous occasions.

Pros

Cove has been extremely easy to use and understand. Console flows well, very rarely do we wish for more. Support is pleasant to work with.

Cons

When it does break, which is rare, it can be challenging to resolve. Our handful of machines that give issues can and have dragged out and involve lengthy support calls.

April 30, 2026

We have been using it for over a year and it has been the easiest, most consistent backup I have used.

Pros

It works and it works well. Single pane to see across all of my clients. Support is quick and responsive if something does go south, but we have very rarely needed them. Onboarding a server takes all of 3 minutes. Restoring files, VMs and Office 365 stuffs is easy and fairly intuitive. Even bare metal restores are easy.

Cons

Doesn't integrate into our RMM so another portal to check every morning. There are some interface tweaks I could suggest but mainly because I'm too lazy to click the menus.

Mostly our experience with Cove Backup has been a set it and forget it. We are notified when there is a failure with our backups and are then able to go in and correct the issue.

Pros

We find that Cove is not only easy to use, but the customer support is exceptional, and we really like the fact that the backups are immutable. We use it to backup both physical on prem servers as well as virtual servers. We also like the fact that we can backup to the cloud.

My experience has been positive although I have not had to do much in the way of recovery. When I have recovered data it has been quick and easy. I can rely on it to do its job.

Pros

It is very reliable and easy to program. It allows me to easily make changes on the fly. Microsoft 365 syncs when removing users from the tenant. You can configure it to automatically add new users as well.

Very positive. My experience with the support team has been amazing. The product is easy to deploy and monitor. I get an email but I normally just look at my custom view in the console. I can easily connect to those computers (if they are online) and see what might be going on with the backup.

Pros

### "Efficient, Reliable Data Protection for Modern IT Environments"

April 28, 2026

4.0

Overall, my experience with has been very positive. It provides a dependable and easy-to-manage backup solution that fits well in both small IT environments and MSP workflows. The platform reduces the complexity typically associated with backup management by combining storage, automation, and monitoring into a single interface. Since implementing Cove, backup consistency has improved significantly, and recovery times have been faster and more predictable. The ability to quickly deploy backups across multiple systems and monitor them from a central dashboard has streamlined operations and reduced the risk of missed backups. While there is room for improvement in areas like reporting and interface design, the core functionality is solid. Cove Data Protection delivers a strong balance of simplicity, performance, and value, making it a reliable choice for protecting critical data.

Pros

What I like most about is its simplicity and reliability. The setup process is straightforward, and once deployed, it requires very little ongoing management. The cloud-first architecture makes it easy to manage backups across multiple endpoints without needing additional infrastructure. The platform provides excellent visibility into backup status, alerts, and historical activity, which helps ensure that all devices are properly protected. Backup performance is efficient, with incremental backups reducing bandwidth usage while still maintaining strong data protection. File-level and full system restores are both quick and easy to perform, which is critical when responding to incidents. Another strong point is the value for money. Cove includes storage, backup, and management in a single platform, making it cost-effective compared to solutions that require separate storage or licensing components. Overall, it delivers consistent and dependable backup coverage with minimal overhead.

Cons

One drawback of is that the interface, while functional, can feel somewhat basic and less modern compared to other backup platforms. Some workflows, such as navigating between devices or locating specific recovery points, could be more intuitive. Reporting and customization options are somewhat limited, especially when trying to generate more detailed or tailored reports for clients or internal documentation. Additionally, while the platform works well for standard backup use cases, more advanced configuration options and granular control are somewhat limited compared to enterprise-focused solutions. Improving the UI/UX and expanding reporting capabilities would make the platform even stronger, particularly for environments that require more detailed visibility and customization.

### "Great for backups, not so great for restoring"

May 1, 2026

4.0

It is a good product for the money and everyone should be performing incremental backups for a variety of reason, not the least of is ransomware. Also with the climate of fires and floods, natural disasters represent a real danger for which backups could be a lifesaver.

Pros

It has flexible option for how often to make backups, which files to backup or avoid and the ability to create profiles containing both which can be applied to each endpoint. Also, when a backup fails, Cove will retry and generate a HelpDesk ticket in N-able helpdesk informing us of the failed backup.

Cons

While the backup function is very simple and straightforward, the restore process is complicated and requires a lot of additional knowledge to perform. I got certified in Cove for both backups and restores but I couldn't perform a restore if a incident occurred. Not so good.

I really like the web portal and the automated restores as a self-check to verify data backups. Microsoft 365 Backup Is Straightforward Cove’s M365 backup is: Easy to deploy Does not require local infrastructure Centralized alongside server backups This alone convinces us to use Cove to replace Veeam.

Pros

The ease and use of the application in setting up server and database backups. What Stands Out Most About Cove 1. Simplicity and Low Operational Overhead Cove is genuinely easy to deploy and manage: Lightweight agent Minimal infrastructure to maintain Clean, centralized web dashboard For teams that don’t want to babysit backup infrastructure, this is Vega‑level gravity reduction. Why this matters: You can protect servers, workstations, and M365 without standing up backup servers, repositories, or databases. Highly Reliable, Incremental‑Forever Backups Cove’s block‑level incremental approach is: Bandwidth‑efficient Resilient on poor connections Stable over long retention windows Once backups are green, they tend to stay green without constant tuning.

Cons

Looking into how we can setup a local backup appliance that will work with Cove. Cove LSV does work with: Synology QNAP Windows file servers Cove becomes less lovable when: When you need local backups to be authoritative When you need strict on‑prem retention/immutability When you expect local‑only restores to be completely offline

### "Cove Data Protection Works!"

May 6, 2026

5.0

Overall our experience has been excellent over the past decade. When we've needed support (which hasn't been too many times), they have always bailed our fat out of the fire.

Pros

We like the fact that everything is wrapped up in one screen, file protection, Microsoft email, SharePoint and OneDrive.

Cons

There is little that we don't like about it. The worst problem we have is creating new instances, and that is small problem that shows up when we create a new backup instance. It isn't a show stopper, just not as smooth as it could be.

### "Dependable Protection Without the Babysitting"

April 28, 2026

5.0

On the whole, Cove has proven to be a reliable component of our data security strategy. Once set up, it basically works in the background without requiring too much maintenance, which is precisely what a good backup system should do. It doesn’t make any promises that it can’t keep.

Pros

has really served us well in terms of our backup needs; it is easy to configure, and its cloud-first nature makes sure that there isn’t any babysitting of local hardware going on. It’s great that there is only one interface from where all our endpoints can be managed; backups have performed without fail when needed.

Cons

The price can be somewhat unclear based on the way you're licensing things. You don't really know what kind of pricing package you need until you've got your head buried in configuration. It seems like occasionally the status information for your backups isn't updated as quickly as one might hope, meaning you have to wait a bit to see if something worked out. Not a problem that's kept me from using the service, but definitely a point of improvement.

### "We'd hate to run our business without Cove Data Protection"

April 28, 2026

5.0

It's been a cornerstone in our service offerings for years. Even before it was named . Over the years, it hasn't always had all the bells and whistles of other BCDR solutions but recently it has really stepped up its game with all the new features and development.

Pros

The cost and the fact that it has worked every single time we've needed it is what we like the most. It's our failsafe when all other things break down (like any BCDR solution) and it has made us look like hero's time after time.

Cons

Probably the amount of System State, VSS errors that we get on so many servers. We've tried all of the fixes provided by support and we still fight with that more than we probably should have to. This typically only occurs on older servers.

### "Reliable cloud backup with strong MSP-friendly management"

May 14, 2026

5.0

Overall, has been a strong backup solution for managed IT environments. It makes it easier to monitor backups, protect important data, and respond quickly when a restore is needed. The platform feels lightweight compared to older backup systems, and the centralized management is one of its biggest strengths. Once configured properly, it gives confidence that client data is being protected without requiring constant hands-on management.

Pros

has been reliable and easy to manage from an MSP perspective. The cloud-first backup approach makes deployment much simpler compared to traditional backup appliances, and the dashboard gives a clear view of backup status across multiple devices and clients. I like that it helps reduce the amount of manual checking needed, while still giving enough detail to quickly identify failed backups, storage usage, and protected systems. The recovery options are also straightforward, which is huge when time matters.

Cons

The main downside is that there can be a learning curve when first getting familiar with the portal, policies, and restore options. Some settings are not always as obvious as they could be, especially for newer technicians who have not worked with the product before. Reporting and alerting could also be a little more customizable so teams can better match the notifications to their internal workflow.
