### "Cove Data Protection is hyper-affordable and super-effective backup for Office365"

April 30, 2025

5.0

We put it in place about 2 years ago now, and it's been consistently helpful throughout. We've recovered a number of files, emails, and accounts, and every time is just easy peasy lemon squeezy.

Pros

We use Cove Data Protection for our Office365 backups. Sadly, too few people back up cloud email, because they (mistakenly) believe that there's no point. But when a user comes up to you and tells you that they suddenly need a folder they didn't realize they deleted a few months ago, or when someone realizes a few months later that a disgruntled former employee deleted all of their OneDrive data and you needed something from it, that's when backups are vital. And Cove Data Protection does it amazingly well - and super cost-effectively as well.

Cons

We use them as an integration with N-Able, and sometimes it can be a bit confusing how their licensing structure works with respect to unpaid ex-exployees, but I dig it, and honestly their pricing is so good that we don't stress it too much.

### "Cove, our most liked backup manager"

April 24, 2025

4.0

The biggest selling point to Cove is the ease of use, while retention is not infinite, comparing this tool to Veeam, we're happy to have switched. Veeam had us racking up cost both in terms of actual licensing pricing and our own hardware, also the amount of expertise needed with Veeam is leagues above Cove. Cove packs a lot of good features baseline, the modern UI is very intuitive to navigate and it makes restores and onboarding new clients very easy. With good error logging and a up-to-date knowledge database, Cove excels in ease of use, even when things can go wrong.

Pros

Ease of use, the largest selling point. Pricing is very good. Immutable backups are included Feature rich backups with good statistics and intuitive design. Good overview of errors, what went wrong, and often solutions are documented in the knowledge database. Modern and intuitive UI/UX.

Cons

Lack of teams 1-1 messaging backup in 365. Recovery verification is fairly expensive, even for servers. Flexible storage locations. Audits only showing user or local user, not which user. Lacking in GDPR & other security statements in terms of searchability, it's easy to say you're committed in one sentence, but customers are usually requiring statements to how data is processed & data storage security within EU/ESS. Lack of exact pricing of used/selected data & amount of clients. We get a bulk invoice and can't digest which customer is responsible for x amount of money in to us.

We switched due to rapidly increasing cost in terms of licensing and also expertise requirement.

### "StanODoyal"

April 27, 2025

5.0

I've been using Cove Backup by N-able for a while now, and it's been a great solution for cloud-first backup needs. It’s lightweight, efficient, and really easy to manage through a clean web-based dashboard. I love that it uses TrueDelta technology to minimize data transfer and backup times, which has made a huge difference, especially for our remote endpoints. The built-in Microsoft 365 backup for Exchange, OneDrive, and SharePoint is a huge bonus and saves us from needing another tool. Security-wise, it’s solid—end-to-end encryption with customer-held keys gives us a lot of confidence. Pricing is fair, though it can be a little confusing depending on how you layer on services. The only area I wish was a bit stronger is disaster recovery—while Cove offers options for standby images, it’s not as seamless as some DR-specific solutions. Overall though, for day-to-day protection and efficient cloud backup, Cove has been a reliable and valuable tool, and I’d definitely recommend it.

Pros

Cove is a streamlined, easy-to-use product. It delivers consistent, easy to use and reliable backup solutions to our clients.

Cons

I would like to see more done on how Cove is protecting the data it pulls both at the point of backup and within its data center.

### "Great Product, Affordable, and Easy to Use"

May 9, 2025

5.0

It's been great. Everything is simple, easy to use, and just works. The errors we came across in the beginning were easy to resolve thanks to the great documentation.

Pros

Simplicity, ease of use, functionality, and standardized pricing vs per GB pricing with other cloud backup solutions.

Cons

I can't really say there is anything I dislike about Cove Data Protection. If anything, I dislike the sales approach of N-Able trying to push other products under the guise of a Partner Success Manager.

Reason for choosing Cove Data Protection

While the other products had similar features, Cove didn't require us to provision a cloud storage solution separately. The pricing was straight forward and a flat fee vs the per GB pricing from other vendors.

### "Great staff, great software, extremely open to feedback. 10/10 would recommend!"

May 8, 2025

5.0

If I could sum it up in 1 word, great! We've used their tools heavily during a major crisis, and we had our customer up and back working in no time at all. All with a few clicks!

Pros

The backup software is easy to use, and if you somehow make a mistake, the staff are extremely helpful and responsive. We've been using their backup solution for a year now, and we've had almost no issues, with the few we've had being our fault!

Cons

As an actively developed platform, menus are liable to change so you may need to re-learn how to perform a task, but it's not completely different.

### "I fee secure"

March 13, 2025

5.0

I feel that the data I handle is secure. I use Cove Data every day. I'm also very happy to be able to offer my clients the assurance that their information is protected, so they trust us. Backups are part of our day-to-day business, and having the automatic saves us a lot of time. Of course, or workstations are protected against incidents and eventualities. That's great.

Pros

It is very fast to set up the whole backup procedure. I think the first time it took me about an hour. I can say that the interface is intuitive and easy to use. This seems to me key a security oriented software because we should not make mistakes in its configuration. The reports are daily. I always check them to have a control of what is happening with the company's data. Of course, the data encryption is great, I fell that the company's information is secure.

Cons

The backups take a long time to do and consume a lot of internet resources. And sometimes the process is interrupted. It's not such a big deal because we do backups daily, but it's a latent concern I have so I prefer to always monitor the process and read the reports day by day.

### "Take the pain out of backup\[pain\]."

April 25, 2025

5.0

It's truly a set and forget solution. Alleviates the pain points of backup and managing a plethora of customer's varying devices, infrastructure and operating systems and lets me focus on the more important parts of my business. Had to use it in anger several times for full disaster recovery for clients and it has never let me down. Absolutely perfect and recommend to any MSP or business even considering it.

Pros

Wide support for many operating systems, DB engines and hypervisors. Solutions all the way from a laptop out in the field to a hosted exchange or SQL server to a hypervisor cluster. It's the cover-all solution that save's me messing around with several platforms.

Cons

Nothing. It is, and you can rarely say this about anything these days, a perfect product.

### "Cove works and requires the least amount of babysitting that I have ever experienced."

May 5, 2025

5.0

Cove works. It just dang works. It reminds me of Apple, or perhaps Meraki, but only in the good ways (nobody craps on Apple more than me). Everything you see in the dashboard works and has earned my trust over the three years I have been relying on it.

Pros

I like that it quite literally has provided me with genuine confidence in the servers I protect. I have been using it for three years. I have precisely zero connection to Cove. I inherited it, meaning I did not choose it, so there is no risk of me pridefully defending a purchase. I use the n-central (RMM) provided flavor of Cove - this is a slightly nerfed version of Cove, for what that's worth. Last year I migrated an on-prem file server to Azure. The file server had roughly 7TB of data and I was stressed about it. I was able to erect the VM in Azure, install the Cove client and begin the restore of the on-prem backup. This took a weekend and went perfectly. I could not have been more pleased with the performance.

Cons

Probably related to me being restricted to the n-central dashboard instead of directly through a Cove dashboard, but finding and obtaining the agent can be a bit convoluted when you need to do a fully manual restore to dissimilar hardware.

### "Cove Backup For All"

May 2, 2025

5.0

Positive. The platform is straightforward to deploy and manage, which makes it accessible even for teams without deep backup expertise. Its cloud-first architecture and centralised dashboard simplify monitoring and management across multiple clients or locations, which is a significant advantage in an MSP environment. While there are some limitations in terms of backup granularity, the reliability of the backups, automated reporting, and breadth of features—such as disaster recovery and cloud archiving.

Pros

How intuitive and user-friendly the platform is. It offers a comprehensive suite of features including backup, disaster recovery, and cloud storage all within a single solution. This all-in-one approach reduces the need for multiple tools and helps streamline data protection workflows, which is a significant advantage for operational efficiency.

Cons

The lack of flexibility when it comes to selecting specific data or systems for backup. The platform tends to operate in an “all or nothing” fashion, either you back up an entire device or none of it. This makes it difficult to fine-tune backup policies for more complex environments where you may only want to protect certain folders, file types, or applications.

April 24, 2025

The team over there is very knowledgeable, highly recommend engaging with them. They firstly advised we could save money by using this tool and ever since we have started to use it, we haven't looked back.

Pros

Very user easy interface to navigate around the tool. Can create very unique policies per customer Great granular permission controls for users to customers / sub customers. Really enjoy the M365 backup options.

Cons

Because you can have such detailed and complex policies, it can be a little harder to find tune a policy for a customer if its a "global" policy across all customers/

Very Good. On the odd time we need support they're always very responsive and helpful via the live chat. We have a dedicated Partner success specialist who has helped us optimise our backup profiles results in much faster backup and restore times.

Pros

The UI is great and you can see all the important information in one dashboard. You have a dedicated partner success specialist who you can book meetings with to help you get the most out of Cove data protection. Very easy to deploy to devices. The ability to offboard oldd M365 users is a big plus Continuous restore allows us to create images ready to spin up if needed.

Cons

### "Cove - Do it or Loose it!"

April 30, 2025

5.0

We have had an excellent experience when using this product! I have been a "hero" with this product several times and sleep much better at night knowing my clients are backed up!

Pros

Protection is encrypted, stored remotely, and automatic. The recovery options are extensive and make this not only a backup/restore solution but a Business Recovery system.

Cons

The size limits on backups (100MB systems, 500MB servers) could be increased. However, the space is pooled over all clients and the cost to go over is reasonable.

### "Works well very expensive "

April 24, 2025

Good except for cost, we are looking to switch back to Azure data protect before we go bankrupt.

Pros

It is a very easy setup and works well once it's running. The

Cons

It is outrageously expensive, our monthly costs literally tripled from +/- 300 a month to over 900 a month. The documentation is marginal and the engineer assistance we got onboarding was just fair. We had to abandon backing up Sharepoint and Teams because their licensing model charges you for ALL Entra users regardless if they are actual sharepoint users or not unless you modify the sharepoint permissions which is very cumbersome and 1 user at a time. In a large setup (400+ users) its days of work and everytime a new user is added the process has to be repeated. It was a deal breaker for us.

Cove has been a dream to use and is reliable, all of our team use it and is a night-and-day experience compared to a couple of products we used to use.

Pros

Reliability of recovering files and BMR of systems. Clear Interface and minimal ongoing management required. Automated reporting is good and pricing is competitive.

Cons

### "Reliable, Easy-to-Use Cloud Backup Solution"

April 29, 2025

My overall experience has been very positive. Cove Data Protection provides peace of mind with its consistent, secure backups and fast recovery times. The platform is easy to navigate even for non-technical users, and it integrates well into daily operations. It’s a reliable solution for businesses looking to protect critical data without the hassle of heavy hardware setups.

Pros

The backup and recovery process is extremely reliable and easy to manage. I liked how simple it was to set up schedules, monitor backups, and restore data when needed. The cloud-based platform is also very lightweight and doesn’t require a lot of infrastructure on my end. Their customer support is responsive and helpful.

Cons

The reporting and dashboard customization could be a little more flexible. I would love to have more options to tailor reports based on specific business needs without needing manual exports.
