It has been very easy to use and deploy. The backups are ultra secure. Pros Cove is very easy to setup to get your cloud backups up and running quickly. It just works. It is a no fuss cloud backup solution. Recovering data is very quick and easy to use too. We came from Veeam and Cove blows Veeam out of the water. Cons I really have nothing bad to say about Cove. I tried to find something i dont like and I cannot think of anything. Mobile application would be great to check the backup activity along with alerts. Pros Creating an installation file and installing that file on target computer is very straightforward with no issues. Cons To recover the computer backup image, I need to have same hardware configuration of the backed up computer. This should be informed to user before hand selling the product. Now we have a Cove certified person on staff. My rep's and the Sales Engineer are always extremely helpful and consistently knowledgeable. Pros It's very comprehensive and easy to install and configure. Even before I had one of my engineers go through the complete training, we were able to be comfortable working with the product. Cons I would like to be able (for a cost) to be able to spin up a server in the event of disaster within Coves cloud instead of having to do so in Azure or a cold but ready server. It served and important purpose. I was able to use it to do a bare metal restore and restore files that were deleted accidentally by the user. Pros Cove data protection was straight forward and easy to use. It was easy to install and offered good quality for what it offered. Cons Backups would often fail day to day on certain devices. It was difficult to get Cove Data Protection to install correctly on those devices. Cove takes everything about Data Protection and makes it both very secure and very accessible to anyone who will use either for themselves or their clients. I don't have to worry about our clients data because I know its safe and we can access it in no time at all. Brings peace of mind so that in the eventual of an endpoint meeting an untimely drop or theft or the morning coffee spill that we will be able to restore their data and get our clients right back to work. Pros The onboarding process of learning how to use Cove is very thorough and clean. Making something you can easily jump right in and have a real sense of how to navigate and use it effectively. Cons The length of time it can take when restoring from a Cove backup, in most cases it seems to take an exceedingly long time to complete. Review Source CR Clif R. Pros Cove is cloud first making expensive onsite backup appliances optional and the pricing was less than our previous solution. Installation and configure was fairly quick and easy and all of our team was trained very quickly. Cons I wish there was some additional monitoring for when local speed vaults are failed. We have to manually monitor speed vault status at the moment. They are professional and get the issues resolved ASAP when we do run into them. Cons They are not FEDRAMP certified yet and that makes us have to get another vendor for those clients. But will come back when it is available. My experience with the platform has been minimal, but the one instance where I needed to locate files for a client who's computer crashed, the service was straight forward and allowed me to restore exactly what I needed to. Pros Ease of use, value, and billing transparency. It's very easy to get into the portal and start creating company's, which then expands into rolling out agents. Cons The only thing I'm not a fan of is there's a bit of ambiguity when it comes to restoring a full system. Tech and Security Consultant Hospital & Health Care Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Cove Data Protection is our IT shield" May 9, 2025 5.0 I work in the medical industry, an as an IT security consultant, I value keeping all of our patient data safe. Cove Data helps me to: 1) Automatically create backups, where I schedule to save sensitive patient data, such as records and consents. 2) I conduct mock security breaches and data recovery drills. This ensures that I have action plans in case the clinic suffers a real attack and, of course, that I can make immediate recoveries to prevent the clinic's operations from grinding to a halt. 3) I always have real-time alerts active in case the system fails. I haven't had any problems with the software, but the alerts would warn me if there is any issue. Pros Backups are immutable and isolated from the local network, so ransomware risks are almost unlikely. This feature was a must for me before implementing security software. The backups are small because they are not handled as files but at the bit level. I can make backups constantly without saturating the network. All backup management is easy and accessible from a single panel. If I need something, it will be available very quickly, even during disasters. Of course, the most important thing here is that there are many recovery options, so one of them will always be available. Cons Small data recovery is fast, but restoring large volumes can take time. This is a preoccupation for us when we have images with prescriptions and signed consent documents. It's not a problem right now because we haven't had vulnerabilities. Still, if we needed to do a full recovery, it would take time to get the clinic backup and running. Review Source ES Ethan S. The M365 protection is also easy to use. Cons Email alerts are lacking. I think we have certain scenarios where we want alerts on some actions but cannot get them. Support can be lacking at times. Cove 365 is great and easy to use, we restore from there all the time and it's a piece of cake. Pros I just works and support is good when it doesn't work. N-able makes themselves available for feedback and education as needed. Cove gives us peace of mind in case of security incidents or even accidental deletions. Pros Cove is very simple to use, from install to maintenance, the whole setup is fast and easy. I am a big fan of the insights the dashboard gives, so I know immediately when there are any issues I have to address. We have used the recovery feature many times and have been satisfied. Cons There is not much I can think of that we do not like about Cove data protection. I have past IT experience and am trying to cover this aspect of our operations pending our next IT representative. I don't have a lot to compare it to in the current market but Cove seems to have their platform and act together. Overall, very good. Pros It seems to be very stable and reliable. Online support is very polite, professional and knowledgable. Cons User maintenance resolutions. Permissions have had to be corrected for me to do what my level is authorized to do. I can't easily speak to a support rep verbally. Back and forth electronic communication usually takes a day or more to get to a conclusion when 5 to 10 minute conversation would have likely resolved an issue. When I have needed help, I have been able to reach a human to resolve my issue. Pros I use Cove Data Protection for SQL Server database backups for about 50 businesses. The policy-based approach and direct-to-cloud architecture saves time and maintenance overhead. Pros Cove is lightweight, cloud-first, and very easy to deploy. The web console is intuitive, with centralized control over backup jobs, storage, and reporting. The ability to back up physical and virtual machines, Microsoft 365, and servers without managing local storage is a huge plus. Support response is solid and consistent. Cons Limited advanced scheduling flexibility. Restore speed for large datasets can be slower compared to on-premise solutions. Would love deeper integration with 3rd-party RMM tools.
