## What is Amber-JCS?

Amber-JCS is UK job costing software for project-based companies, such as surveyors and consulting engineers. It records timesheets, expenses and purchase invoices, and generates customisable sales invoices. It reports on job profitability and staff performance, and gives you financial visibility into the key unit of your business - the job. Optionally, it can post invoices to accounting systems, such as Sage 50; or you can use the in-built accounts module for cash and debtors

There is still probably features we don't use as yet, but overall it has saved a lot of time in collating hours staff spend on each job, the system gathers this for you, so it saves time when wages are being done. we have also moved away from paper job cards and use Amber - JCS which is brilliant and very easy to use. Jobs can be easily searched for and all the information regarding that job found easily on the system. The Support we receive is fantastic.

Pros

Saves a lot of time no need for lots of paper for time sheets or jobs easy to find job cards and lots of information regarding that specific job easy to use, all our staff are using it. Brilliant for recording hours and over time

For us, the ease of invoicing and reporting has made our job costing procedures work more efficiently and transparently.

Pros

This job costing software was a massive improvement on what we were using before. It allows time sheets to be input directly by staff which gives us up to date information on costings. We have better transparency of our figures and the vast number of reports available enables us to analyse our figures very easily and accurately. It works with Sage perfectly.

Cons

You have to remember that it is an Access database and it will only do what you generate it to do. Previously we used an accounting package so it took some getting use to.

As a Surveying firm, Amber-JCS is the perfect software for us, it enables us to record time and invoice our clients in a precise and expedient manner.

Pros

Time recording is extremely easy to do and easy for new staff to pick up. Invoicing is able to cover certain periods and you are able to add sub contractors invoices easily.

Cons

Creating credit notes is confusing and not an easy task to get your head around.
