### "Pentestor Review while port scanning "

July 22, 2019

4.0

The overall experience is great, I usually use Nmap when it comes to scanning for a white box pentest. Sometimes I use it for BlackBox as well in stealth mode and modified commands of course not the presets.

Pros

The most that I like it's easy to use, the GUI Nmap is really simple and straight forward. I have used the GUI in the begging and helped me a lot to work faster. And the profiling is even better.

Cons

It is the same as in the GUI and the command line the output is a bit too messy and difficult for the eye to follow. It's not a big deal since I know each section and what where to expect. It would be great if there was a better structure,

### "Nmap"

November 29, 2023

5.0

Highly satisfying and great tool once I learned how to use.

Pros

Nmap 7.90 has been released with Npcap 1.00 along with dozens of other performance improvements, bug fixes, and feature enhancements! A must have tool for anyone who works in cyber or networking industry. Developed over 20 years ago, Nmap is still one of top tools In Kali Linux, as well as top weapon to combat cyber terrorism worldwide.

Cons

Somewhat overwhelming and difficult to learn as a beginner, but as you practice implementing on terminal or command line. This really is amazing software and recommend to anyone in Cyber or IT industry.

### "Monitorare la sicurezza della rete con facilità"

February 15, 2023

5.0

Pros

### "Basic tool for a security engineer"

March 10, 2021

5.0

Overll, Nmap is much recommended and an extremely easy tool to use

Pros

Nmap is a free of cost utility tool for linux/MacOS. Nmap has made port scanning extremely easy which is one of the initial steps of penetration testing for security engineers.

Cons

I am aware of only the command line interface of Nmap. There can be a possibility to generate reports based on the reconnaissance activities generated by using Nmap

### "Nmap, the best tool to monitor the security of your systems "

September 25, 2021

5.0

The absolute ally for computer security

Pros

This program even in its realistic renditions is extremely incredible, and has alternatives to make filters undeniably challenging to identify by casualties or organization administrators. Output any scope of ports you need and even recognize the casualty's working framework, making the programmer distinguish all the more unmistakably how to get to the far off PC

Cons

It has no cons, it practically has a tool (Zenmap) that helps you if you don't know how to code, and it has a very detailed user manual.

### "Excellent program of open code that serves to carry out tracking of ports in a computer"

March 7, 2018

5.0

highly recommended for people who want to know about hacking techniques

Pros

This program even in its graphic versions is very powerful, and has options to make scans very difficult to detect by victims or network supervisors. Scan any range of ports you want and even detect the victim's operating system, causing the hacker to identify more clearly how to access the remote computer

Cons

While it is more complex is the type of scan you want to perform, the scanning process can be slower and take several minutes before the end, the speed of the scan depends basically on 3 factors, speed of the scanner's computer (hacker) , latency in the network (if the network is slow or fast), and speed of response and security measures of the scanned computer (victim)

### "Excellent tool for mapping and auditing and searching for vulnerabilities in networks"

July 11, 2018

5.0

It has allowed me to detect vulnerabilities in the network in a very fast and effective way. like the ports in use in real time and the type of traffic and protocols used by the applications in the company

Pros

\* It's easy to use. \* It's free. \* Reliable with more than 17 years in the market. \* It has extensive documentation and excellent support from the user community \* Its latest version allows to perform pentesting tasks \* It allows to audit the network to know its vulnerabilities: open ports, connected, wireless and wireless equipment. \* Sneefer functions \* It has multiple security tools that allow audits of passwords, scan the web, exploits, etc.

Cons

\* It is an excellent work tool for professionals in the area of networks I do not find defects or negative aspects. only that I see it more for advanced users since it runs on linux operating systems and through the use of commands preferably.

### "Network and security Tool"

December 30, 2019

5.0

Nmap is one of the tools always use, great recon on any network with multple options to search from which kind of OS is the target running to options to find vulnerabilities including the CVE if any, a very powerful tool and its also completely free.

Pros

Easy to use, if you're not used to use it on a shell, you can even use a GUI called zenmap, and runs in every OS, fast depending on the task and with great options, able to export data.

Cons

Nothing in particular, use it often and its a great tool, the zenmap version the graphic enviroment could improve the controls.

### "The Standard Network Scanning Tool"

October 30, 2018

5.0

Pros

I use Nmap very frequently for Information Security Consulting Services and Penetration Testing. It is an invaluable software tool for any information security professional. The level of detailed data you are able to obtain with it is unmatched to similar tools on the market.

Cons

Thre is nothing to complain about this tool, you can't go wrong with it. However, you do require some background technical knowledge and are required to do a lot of reading to understand how it works. You can use it for a long time and still not take advantage of its full potential.

### "The Best and Most Powerful Network Mapping Tool I've Ever Used"

June 4, 2018

5.0

Pros

We use this software around the office for maping out what IP addresses go to which machines. It tells us the MAC address, tells us what ports are open, closed, what OS the unit is running, and and we can have it specify what range of addresses to look for. We used it to figure out that we had a rarely-used thin client on the network that downloaded a ton of packets (thanks Untangle!) and was being used for non-clinic purposes. It's pretty fast too, our clinic has 20-45 devices on it at any given time, and a complete scan took about 5 minutes.

Cons

It is a bit utilitarian, which is nice for conservation of resources, but a little more of input information would be nice in the "Target" box. Took a little bit to figure out exactly what to ask for and how. For example, for a range of IP addresses to check, you need to type out your request with a dash, like 192.181.1.1 - 120. It just took a little tinkering. In fact, it has so many EXTRA features, sometimes it can be confusing as well.

### "Versatile open source software very important to find vulnerabilities"

May 17, 2018

4.0

Pros

\- Easy to use and very quick to use. - Very used in the laboratory practices to carry out the Audits or pentesting. - This tool has allowed students to learn to evaluate the security of the different computer systems.

Cons

\- You must be aware of the update to try to avoid a failure. - When the scan is more complex it may take longer to do it.

### "Gold Standard Network Scanner"

September 26, 2018

5.0

Any person working with or learning about networks should learn and use this. Could not recommend it more!

Pros

This program is crazy powerful if you have learned the ropes. Lots of professionals rely on it for their job and for good reason. -Free -Extensive track record -Crazy amounts of help for it through documentation and community -Feature Rich

Cons

Two cons I have noticed when using this software: -There can be a bit of a learning curve for this software, particularly when using command line vs GUI. -Scans can be slow depending on two factors. Type and amounts of scans can make scans slow. Additionally you can set the speed of the scan to remain undetected. This can also slow scans down, but that's to be expected.

### "Powerfull Tool"

March 5, 2020

5.0

Been great, had an issue with mysql server and turns out there was skype blocking those ports.

Pros

Finding those vulnerabilities with those open ports in a contained environment, just the perfect choice to do that.

Cons

Wish they roll up a better UI, the market is focused on User Experience right now but obviously this tool is something which a normal user would be using.

I love it; it has given me very granular visibility into my networks.

Pros

nmap allows me to quickly check a subnet and determine what is on it. I use it routinely to scan my warehouse networks to see what's connected.

Cons

There's a tiny bit of a learning curve, but it's not bad. Sometimes it's slower than I'd like it to be, but it's a great product.

### "Top notch network scanner"

June 13, 2018

5.0

Pros

I've been using nmap for over a decade now, and it's continually evolving to be the go-to network scanner. Main pros: - Virtually unlimited scanning options for almost every possible scenario - Scripting engine for automation - Optimized performance - Both command line and GUI interfaces for all tastes

Cons

I think that adding it's own TCP stack implementation is a huge plus, which will leverage it to supersede softwares like hping and unicorn

Pros

We use Nmap in our automation tests, it have a wide functionality in terms of port scanning using advanced packet manipulations for TCP, UDP, ICMP and more, it is very easy to implement, easy to work with and have perfect integration in shell scripting.

Cons

Despite the product provide us wide range of solutions, it requires extra knowledge (Basic Linux OS and advanced networking) before approaching it, especially for the more advanced tasks. The product also does not get enough attention from developers.

### "Useful tool for network setup and diagnosing"

December 4, 2019

5.0

It's one of the necessary tools in my network setup and testing arsenal. Easy for testing local and remote networks. The command line is simple enough to use, though most of the time on Windows I will use the GUI. The documentation is also pretty straightforward as it's helps me with some concepts that I should have known.

Pros

The included Zanmap GUI makes using it pretty straightforward for a beginner with some basic networking knowledge.

Cons

The GUI, while functional, looks quite old and may be off-putting for some users. However, I'm more interested in the core fiunctionality .
