If anyone ask me for Overall HotJar rating, it deserves 10 out of 10, first because of it's features and second if someone new and want to try hotjar they give 2000/views per day and i suppose it is fine for new website.

Pros

HotJar is one of the best software I have used for Visual Tracking of user. It gives me complete vision what my visitor are doing on my website, what is their behaviours that help me to improve that part of website. Also Hotjar has heatmaps feature that shows my most interacted part on my website by visitor. One of the best part in that make it unique is its funnel creation using form data. HotJar help me track data submitted on forms.

Cons

Yes, I faced one issue with HotJar and not resolve yet. HotJar forms funnels not work with Angular-JS website. It did't read form due to Angular server side loading, i hope team will fix it.

Positive, it has helped us better understand how customers interact with our website, what they find useful and what they don't like.

Pros

As a website developer, I find this data invaluable in understanding why people leave, or bounce from our websites before they've proceeded far enough down the funnel to convert.

Cons

Pricing for premium functionality seems a little steep for startups. Although they do offer a free version for personal use.

Pros

I find HotJar simple to integrate with. The data it provides is very useful. The plans are very reasonable and provide good value.

Cons

I feel that the user experience could be improved upon. It's not a challenge to use, but I could see how it might be daunting to users who aren't too familiar with these types of analytical tools.

Having used Hotjar for a number of years there is not another tool out there that can match it for ease of use as well as the insights you can gleam from the tool

Pros

I am a massive fan of Hotjar, as are most of the team. It has led to many great insights for our clients which has greatly improved the experience of their sites.

Cons

There is not much to dislike about this platform, unfortunately you have to pay for some features, however, bear in mind that you can get some phenomenal insights.

Hotjar allows you to see exactly what your users are doing, so you can use first-hand data, rather than solely relying on their feedback.

Pros

The ability to record user sessions, to see how they use your websites, whilst still maintaining their privacy.

Cons

The interface is a little cluttered at times, but this is a minor criticism as there are lots of features contained here!

### "Great addition to any analytics toolkit"

Hotjar makes it simple to see how users engage with content, short of going to their house and watching, then asking what they thought.

Pros

Use it in a stack of tools, helps see how visitors interact and engage with web content on my websites. Like the heat maps and ability to add calls to action or requests for feedback

Cons

Plan limitations on recording length and quantity can get annoying, especially if you have more than one website.

Valuable insights which are highly important for enterprise level websites where every small detail and percentile gain makes a difference.

Pros

For teams that have the resources to spend time on eking out UX and CRO gains, this is an important tool. Relatively easy to install via Google Tag Manager, and plenty of features to gain valuable user data such as heat maps and screen recording.

Cons

Can impact some SEO metrics by adding additional layers to page loading, as well as altering cumulative layout shift when activated.

Ability to see where customers were interacting most with my pages and watch videos of their actual visits

Cons

Lack of more identifiable information (which is understood) prevents us from better assisting customers who had issues but may not have reached out to our customer service team. Also, having to manually restart capturing in increments of 1,000 / 2,000 visitors

Pros

It allows one to create polls. So, instead of using two tools, I can make use of this inbuilt feature to collect qualitative data.

Cons

Even after implementing tracking code, one need to manually add pages for Heatmaps. Also, the filtering is restrictive so, there is a lot of limitation in terms of data gathering. For small firms, it is good tool but for a big firm, one need to look for an alternative.

Better conversion on a website and safe website updates by analyzing which parts of website people interact with the most.

Pros

I was really surprised by how capable and awesome the free version is. I can't believe it allows people to get as much data for free. By the time you reach traffic that forces you out of a free plan, you don't even hesitate. It's easy to setup, easy to control and easy to read the data you get with it. It tracks actions on three types of devices (desktop, mobile and tablet), clicks, mouse movement, and scroll. All of these provide very valuable insights.

Cons

I wouldn't say there are any, and if there are you don't have to worry about it because you'll catch them while using the free version and safely decide whether these cons are a deal-breaker.

Very easy to use, good free options to trial. Good results out the other side

Pros

We have only used the free version at present, the software has Heatmaps, Recordings, Polls and Surveys. All are very helpful however we have created a post purchase poll that has helped us to no end. We ask customers after their checkout journey was there anything that nearly stopped them ordering. By collecting this information we have been able to action changes that seemed miniscule to us but obviously matter to the customers. By doing this we have seen a rise in conversions.

Cons

Surveys limited to 100 on the free software, and the feedback wasn't substantial enough to upgrade. I do feel like that we will upgrade down the line when we start using all the areas of the software.

Pros

We used Hotjar to see how our customers are using the product. This qualitative feedback was a must as sometimes quantitative data doesn't show the true picture as what we show to users that only they will use but using session replays we can see are they happy using it or frustrated.

Cons

Nothing as such, it's just that we had enormous traffic on the website and the limited plan of ours used to get used up in matter of days only.

It's a great tool for those working as a user experience designer or product manager, to implement a change and test through post-use analysis, understand product gaps and generate insights to create new features. It has helped us to implemented our onboarding process in the product.

Pros

We are using Hotjar in my company to do usage analysis of our product, we can know where the user is accessing, how long he has used the tool, what actions he has completed or not... it is a great tool for understanding how intuitive the our product is. The tool that we use most is the visitors recordings. We have the free version, and it record up to 100% of all accesses, and I can watch video at up to 4x speed, all within the hotjar platform itself.

Cons

It blocks all the sensitive data (like text, images, etc.), I understand that is for security of the users, but in the recordings gets a little hard to understand what the user is really doing. However, I can't say what is really negative about it (the biggest problem was finding out that our product is not as affordable as we expected), so I would need to investigate another competing tool.

HotJar is a tool to understand our customer's behavior which also helps us to develop a good UX.

Pros

I like the way how HotJar reported our user's behavior on the app. It helps us to pinpoint the areas where we need to focus on. Also, you can mask recordings for the privacy of your users.

Cons

Conversion Funnels can be improved, you want to see more details about what it is giving to you. You may use it with another tool to get what you need.

Cons

Pros

Hotjar just gives, gives, gives while costing only a fraction of what its competitors cost. Easy-to-use and lightweight, so any org can start generating user stories from its recordings and heat maps in the same day you install and configure it. 5 stars all the way.

Cons

None for me. I love it. I truly don't have a single complaint.

I think it is really good for customer surveys and heatmaps, it is good to use it as a complementary tool (not the main tool) for analyzing the website.

I like how easy is to visualize the heatmaps, it is very useful to show to non-marketers (stakeholders) the performance of the pages

I think there should be an option in the recordings section to visualize several recordings at the same time because if not, takes so long to watch all the videos

It's very easy to set up and share data with clients. The heatmaps have been super helpful and the recordings are indispensable.

Sometimes set up of heatmaps is clunky and setting up and our plan does not enable unlimited data and visits.

Pros

Everyone is talking about Hotjar. I have taken many online courses and classes for marketing, conversion rate optimization, etc, and Hotjar is always the holy grail for seeing what your users are doing and how they are interacting with your site. We used Hotjar for many years before we had to switch to a new product which could cater to our site better. Hotjar is the easiest to use and has the best pricing.

Cons

Hotjar does not have the ability to record content or interactions that happen inside an iframe, even if you own the iframe and it is your domain. Our entire shopping cart experience is in an iframe, so we really wanted to be able to see what users were doing. Since Hotjar does not support this, we had to switch services.

My overall experience with Hotjar is a really positive one. In my last role, I'd use it weekly to watch recordings of users' experiences with our landing pages to provide a more streamlined, frictionless experience. Hotjar was instrumental in A/B testing our social landing pages to increase our number of leads generated and with the data I gleaned from Hotjar, I was able to put up some of the best lead numbers on record for the company.

Pros

I used this software primarily to track visitors who engaged with social ads and landed on a landing page. It was extremely helpful to see things like: time on page, most viewed areas of the page, areas that were most clicked, how many form fields were filled in before abandonment etc. Hotjar's features were extremely helpful in optimizing landing pages to capture more leads' information

Cons

There's not a ton to dislike, but there's a bit of a learning curve (like anything else). Prior to using Hotjar, I had never really used any kind of website visitor tracking/recording service, so it took me a little bit of time to better understand what data points I should really be looking outdoor and how best to use it for optimization.

Pros

I have been using Hotjar for the past few months. It has opened another perspective that currently wasn't possible with Google Analytics, like creating heatmaps. It gave me deeper insight in what visitors do, click on and interact with. Based with this information, we have been able to refine our site. The process was easy to setup and the system is (once learned) easy to use.

Cons

Price. The personal plans (up to 20.000 pageviews/day) are great for smaller companies. But once you go over that, you'll have to pay hundreds of dollars a month. For that price, I'd like to see more functionality (like Google Analytics has (e.g. demographically interests, e-commerce tracking)).

HotJar is great for anyone who has a website and offers a paid monthly service and wants to improve the user experience. It's also cheaper than some other services we've used.

Pros

Hotjar helps you understand how your users interact with your website. I work at a SaaS and it has been very helpful in improving our UX/UI and also for customer support related tasks. We are able to confirm the actions a user makes when they complain about a feature of our website not working well.

Cons

Sometimes the videos lag when you watch user sessions. It seems you need to have a very good internet connection for the user sessions to load quickly, especially if you are watching more than one. Also, sometimes the most recent user session is not available until later. This is problem because when a user messages us with a problem and we want to view how he used our website right away, we can't confirm his actions right then and there, only after a few hours. But this is a minimal problem, since the primary function that Hotjar helps you with is improving overall UX/UI of your website.
