Pros I love that I can record lectures very easily and quickly upload them directly to my google classroom for my students. You can pause while you are recording and easily resume. The quality is great. You can share your whole screen or just a tab. You can choose to have a video of yourself at the same time as screen/tab sharing. It makes recording lessons easy and sharing links with families is simple. Pros I like the various features to record a tab, whole desktop, or use the web cam. This allows me to vary lessons for students so that it's not constantly a recorded google slide presentation, but can feature me talking, or other tabs as needed. I also like how easy it is to navigate, especially as someone who has never used software like this before. Cons The audio can be staticky and broken up at times, even with changing the input. I've found it very helpful as we continue to do more and more remotely. I love how simple and quick it is to record with the extension added right to my Chrome. It is great for learning when you need something students can go back and review. It is so easy once you're done to upload to many different places with one click. Cons There is a five-minute limit (which for students you shouldn't really be doing much longer) but that is a limitation to the free version. If trying to save the video it can take some time to actually upload. It is also limited in editing which is fine for when I'm using it for quick videos nothing more elaborate. Screencastify is ready to download and save in multiple formats and locations (your google drive, on your hard drive etc...) You have your extension in your browser, and very quickly you can be recording videos. Cons The file management is brutal. If you have many videos they will get lost easily in your drive. It works will, but has noted conflicts with other software that need to be addressed. Pros Has all the features one would expect with a screen recording application. The overall user interface is easy to use and understand. Cons There is nothing special about this application. The one issue I would say is a con is that this software crashes our remote conferencing software is used in conjunction. It's automatically saved in your google drive or your youtube channel. Cons The recording quality in my experience isn't really great and there's no option to increase the quality. I was able to easily record myself teaching a lesson or reading a book and then insert the link into Google Classroom for my students to view. Pros It was so easy to download and to use. I love that the icon stays on the toolbar and that it truly is a one-click tool. I also liked that I could send/save the recording in multiple formats. Cons I would love to see filter options for the face and background choices for those that do not like to be on camera. It is a quick and easy way to make videos. You will not regret upgrading. Pros What I like most about this software is that you are able to record for free, even if it's just for 5 minutes without a watermark. Many other free screen recorders have a watermark that you don't want to be present in the video. It's a quick and easy way to make tutorials for email directions for example. It's easy to install and it has a chrome extension. Cons The free version has a limit of 5 minutes. It's also not very compatible with mobile devices, including ipads or other tablets. It causes the screen to freeze and it lags. That is the clear proof you encountered an error while checking the software. Cons I dont think there's any, for a short period of time using this application, it lessens my typing job, explaining the steps I did when testing. I just sent the recorded video, then that's it. In just a few days, I have many videos to share with my students. Pros I like that it is easy to use. Also, due to having to teach from home, the company has given us access to the ultimate version due to teachers having to teach at home. I am planning on recording read aloud to my kids and delivering lessons. Pros This software is VERY userfriendly, even veteran teachers (aka old) can use Screencastify easily. Their online tutorials are easy to follow and get you up and running in no time. Cons This isn't currently an issue due to the company giving all teachers access to their paid features for the time being, but I don't know if I will purchase them after the time is up. I may feel that they are essential after use. If I do I will pay. I don't like tons of ads that pop up and disrupt my use do maybe this is the lesser of 2 evils.
