But so far it is working for what I need. Pros Being able to customize building dimensions and room sizes. Along with customizing wall finishes, doors, windows, etc. Cons Inability to select multiple walls or floors to apply the same changes to all at once. Cons I do not like that after signing up for the app and paying, I hit a road block from making too many copies of a floor plan, and would need to buy credits to continue saving. I like the library of furniture and fittings which draw on Ikea and other top brand products. Cons It can’t handle junctions between existing and new walls, if the new wall is a different thickness. It is a wonderful tool to allow them to view details about the spaces virtually. They can also experiment with different furniture displays and determine what will fit in a room without physically having to move everything around! Pros RoomSketcher is a MUST for my business. I use it to make 3D floorplans to showcase apartments, houses, and commercial rental spaces. It is SO easy to use, and there are so many tools that allow you to customize down to minute details. The 3D photos are GORGEOUS and super life-like. You have so many options for angles and fields that allow you to truly capture the feel of a space. Cons It would be nice if levels could be shared on one screen in the Live 3D walk-through, so a 2-story house can be viewed in its entirety. The ability to select multiple items at a time to move/copy would be a HUGE improvement. Currently you can only move one item at a time, so if you're trying to move an entire room full of furniture it is quite time consuming to move them one at a time. The renderings typically come out phenomenal. I would like to have more CAD like functionality with ability to add dissensions to 2D photos for contractors/ non-client focused images that are still necessary. To be able to import new library content would be an amazing feature. I would never look elsewhere. Pros Easy to use program with very little training period or trial and error. Cons Inability to create 2D images in black & white/line drawings with dimensions. Limited content library. Especially when it comes to lettering/shapes and art. It's been a long road. I wish it had been easier. Pros I like the 3D mode. I can get a good idea whether the space will be comfortable for whatever it is used for. I am using room sketcher to plan minor architectural changes. The 3D imagery is good for that. Cons The biggest problem I have is that I can't take measurements of my furniture arragements. For instance, if I want to center a chandelier over a table, I have to do it visually. The rendering looks fine, but where do I tell the builder to place the electric connection for the light. The measuring tool only works when in walls mode. The tools and functions are not easy to find. The materials such as wall coverings and fabrics are not nearly close enough to what I'm doing to provide a valuable visual tool. The ability to show a client a 3-D rendering of their space gives them an added layer of confidence, which a hand drawn elevation could never achieve. Pros I've been using RoomSketcher for several years, and love it. It gives me the ability to quickly lay out a space, apply finishes. The quick camera shots help give me an idea of massing, and the 3-D renderings are very useful. It has become second nature to me, and I recommend it to many people. It's perfect for anyone who just wants to visualize quickly and doesn't want to spend thousands of dollars and hours on full cad. Cons I do a lot of kitchen and bath design, so the customization of cabinet sizes and materials is critical to me. I am frustrated by the 2-D floorplans snapping back to default sized cabinets which requires a lot of photoshopping. Also, some tweaks to make materials - such as light concrete - consistently available in all surfaces (counters, walls, floors, block) would be appreciated, and the wood grain on the shaker doors when rendered in 3D goes hayire, but all in all I am very happy. March 22, 2024 4.0 Working in RoomSketecher is time consuming but Pros I enjoy the render quality and customization potential of RoomSketcher. It gives me flexibility to create a look and feel for each multifamily property I make sketches for. I love how moduler it is and how much control I have. Additionally, although it could do with a few quality of life improvements, the base program is really solid and fairly intuitive. Cons Here are a few quality-of-life improvements that could help my experience with RoomSketcher in order of their importance to me as a professional that spends a lot of time in the program. 1) Collections - I typically end up creating 3D floor plans for multiple unit types in the same building so it would be helpful if I could save the furniture and finishes I use to a collection for that property so my "favorites" tab doesn't end up being such a mess when working on multiple properties at once. This would seriously save me so much time and prevent me from having to keep a folder of screenshots of exactly what I used. Also, this might be asking for too much, but being able to sort favorites or collections by zone type (kitchen, dining, etc) would be amazing. 2) Unique Names - Its frustrating that you can have two objects that are both "Woodwork - Birch" next to each other and they don't match. It's intensely frustrating. 3) Auto-Align - When I place one cabinet next to a wall and stretch it a hair to meet the blueprint, it would be FANTASTIC if the next cabnet I put next to it aligns itself next to it. July 12, 2021 4.0 RoomSketcher is possibly one of the easiest architectural design programs I have used. It has a simple and intuitive interface. And the only detail I find, are the extra payments even if you are a VIP or PRO user. Pros Always when starting to work with a new program, the doubt that assails the user is: how good an investment it is going to be. And it is a laudable doubt, because not everything in the world of software is a good investment, either of time or money. In this case it is something different, this program is super easy to use (even for beginners) has excellent drawing tools and a very large library which is even larger if you opt for a VIP plan. You don't need to be a genius to be an excellent designer, because with this program you only need to know how to drag and drop to be able to place your pieces. You can also add textures, which are organized in categories that include wood floors, interior and exterior paint, stone, tiles and others. The colors are a promise of reality, they are generic, but they are very close to the color that could have an ordinary paint. Cons One of its major shortcomings is that although there is a free version (very basic) the VIP version is not enough, since you will have to keep paying to have access to extra features. The system of "credits" that the program uses is really bad because it makes you think twice when making a useful decision in the program, but that decision makes you spend and spend money (because it consumes credits) even if you are a VIP or PRO plan. This problem takes away some of the functionality of this program that really could be excellent with small adjustments. The big problem is simply that it not only limits the user in the free plan but also in the paid plan. For some paying certain amounts per use will not be a problem, but for others, such as students, it will be prohibitive. Review Source AK Anders K. I supply sketches that they turn into 2D or 3D floorplans Pros The "do it for you" service where you supply a 2d sketch and they create it for you is really great. Usually ready within 12 hours. Cons The "do it yourself" part is a bit hard to learn, and I had a lot of trouble getting roomnames to sit in the middle of the rooms etc. A bit too complex for me so I have them do it for me. I'm using Roomsketcher for a few years, and it needed me time to explore what everything this software can do, and it can do a lot, especially when you're creative and know how to use everything given. Also, if I have any question about things I could do and how, the support team makes it really clear, and I have to say, really quick and quality. Furthermore, IT IS intuitive, unlike some other softwares that I'm not going to name and from which I gave up emmediately. And yes, you can do one wall in one color, and other walls in other. AND I'm just to get to know more options that I haven't know there are! I just want to say: this is absolutely amazing tool, especially if you have will to explore it and play with it, and if you are creative, you can do literally almost whatever you want. When you use this software for a while and you know it well, then you can give CONSTRUCTIVE critics what's good what's not, which isn't case with some reviews I read here. And one more thing, if someone finds BETTER and CHEAPER software, please let me know. Yes, I thought so.. It is perfect for what I need it for. I work with a lot of new construction. With builders constantly making changes this program makes it easy to do so. Pros I like how user-friendly the program is. As well as how support reaches out to assist if needed very quickly. Cons Wish the icons in the furniture section were larger or had a preview button before adding them. Also would like to see more choices in the furniture section that are more up to the modern day. More choices for landscaping products such as plants, trees, etc ...
