I looked everywhere for a flexible tool that is user friendly. Found it! Stencil answers my social media and promotional email image needs at a reasonable price. Pros The ability to import my own images, create watermarks and add my own fonts is wonderful. Just love the WordPress plug-in as well. Cons There are slight adjustments to text outlines and shadows I'd like to be possible that I haven't been able to accomplish. Review Source DW David W. Web Designer Internet Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Stencil turned a chore into a pleasure" April 18, 2019 5.0 I have used Stencil for a long time (before it was even called Stencil) and I have always been impressed, but have not needed to use it regularly. More recently that changed and I using it almost daily. I would hate to be without it now. Also I must say I am impressed with the way they seem to handle support too. Seems like a company of emotionally mature people. Pros It made it so incredibly easy to for me add custom and stylish images to my WordPress sites quickly. I like the choice of design options. They are powerful, yet the user interface is simple. I have tried other software doing a similar job, but much prefer Stencil. It has been constantly improved over the years, but has remained intuitive. Cons There is nothing I can think of. There were somethings I would have liked when they launched the WordPress plugin for Stencil, but they added them... within a week. They don't provide free cheese. Will that do? Pros Sincerely my focus is on creating great written content for my clients and prospects, I don’t have time to look for and edit the perfect photo for my newsletters. Getstencil.com made it easy where all I do is type in the theme in the search bar and a ton of great stock photo options show up immediately after. I don’t have to worry about giving credit so I just download and upload to the newsletter and send it out. It also lets me add text and my logo when I need to with no extra effort. It probably took me longer to write this than it does to get the perfect photo for my website. Get it now! Cons Maybe advanced users can find something wrong with it but for someone who needs a pic that’s easily editable who isn’t a graphic designer this works perfectly. I have also created all the graphics for my website and when I decided something didn’t quite look right it was so easy to tweak, save and download again. I can create new templates easily, find saved ones and use the huge amount of photos on offer within The Stencil software. I am one very happy customer and would never go anywhere else - I have no need! Pros So easy to use. Dashboard is intuitive and easy to navigate. Love that I can use the standard social media sizes or very easily create my own custom ones. Everything is easy to find again and uploading my own photos is quick and easy. Pros This is a basic image editor which we use a lot. I like the way you can search for different templates based on what you want to do. For example, you can search the quotes templates without having to go through ALL of them. This makes it fast to create a post. You can also select a template based on the image size for the platform where you want to publish it. You can save your creations in folders too - this is helpful to me because we have many brands we work with and it helps us stay organized. The royalty free images are also great. Cons I'm a little concerned if it will stick around. Other platforms like Canva and Snappa continue to make upgrades and add features. Stencil has been the same for a long time. The app includes cool templates and so many unique editing features to create your one-of-a-kind images. Been using Stencil and getting more engagement for all my social media, websites and inspirational quotes. Also use it to create unique graphics for my video marketing business. I highly recommend the Stencil app. Cons Because Stencil is so easy to use, I really don't find anything that I don't like about it! Pros I like how easy Stencil is to use, you can quickly put together a great looking image for your social media account and publish directly from Stencil. It works well, has a great library of images to choose from, it's easy to put text on and also has some great templates to get you started. Cons The only drawback I find with Stencil and this isn't anything bad, just something that I didn't like, is that it only integrates with Buffer for scheduling posts. If it had it's own scheduling tool I think it would be the only tool I would use. Instead I download the images I need to schedule and use a different solution. I love the functionality - I can find just about any photo I'm looking for, download it and share in under 60 seconds. I love the referenced quotes finder - it turns my posts into meaningful messages, without me sweating about creating my own quotes. If you're looking for an intuitive app that meets you more than halfway, allowing you to create content and share it almost instantly, this is the one. Pros We need quite a fair number of graphic design for our social media posts and we need to produce these materials fast and professional-looking. Stencil provides us the simplicity and speed-performance with their assets library and pre-made design templates. We use the Wordpress plugin for our blog posts, chrome extension for Facebook posts. Everything works nicely and fast. No bloat, no delay. Cons No calendar to schedule nor track our social postings for optimal posting timings. Basically, Stencil acts like a graphic-editing tool only. Since I started this software, I forgot other similar software to post to my social accounts. With stencil, you can select images, add text with various fonts including your own fonts, change dimensions of the image as per the social media site, and you can post directly to your social accounts without downloading and uploading to those accounts. I guess Stencil is the only software offer this kind of business to create and share images directly from the site itself and with selected dimensions. Kudos! I am a user of several cloud-based design suites, a few are professional grade. None of them have a slider. Stencil is my go to whenever I need to move quickly to get out a Web graphic. If I had known, I would've used them sooner for icons and stuck with Canva for overall design projects. Pros Stencil delivers an extremely user friendly product that has allowed me to quickly create very simple designs but can also handle more complex design projects. Its drag and drop editor is so simple and the page can handle making a lot of edits at once and saving them. Their selection of icons is much more robust than other tools like Venngage and Canva from what I've seen. Cons Stencil hasn't reached the same functionality that Canva has, but they seem to be catching up. There isn't a magic resize feature where you can transform a design into another dimension to post on various social media channels and there isn't as much customization that can be done with images and icons used like you can do with tools like Canva. Another oddity is there isn't a way to duplicate an image, so if you wanted to make several versions of the same design you have to create a new project and then copy/paste. Review Source Mark H. My favorite online tool is Stencil. It is simple and has all the features I normally need for creating images. I combine my own photos - which you can upload - with Stencil's stock collection of images to create unique images for my websites. In addition to resizing and layering one image on top of another, you can also rotate images and text for real eye-catching effects. Stencil may not have all the features that more powerful softwares have. But Stencil does have just about all I need for creating really great images. One of the best things is you can take the software for a test-drive for free. Pros Millions of Stock Photos and Icons available via keyword search. Drag and Drop to Canvas Everything is resize-able, and move-able. Create Images with text (many fonts to choose from) using layers Browser Icon makes the software available with a click Cons Sometimes it's a little slow . . . but realize we're working with images.
