Pros For most blog graphics and social media images I usually use Stencil instead of photoshop. I can save presets, add my logo, and simply create images using the tools provided and free stock images from pixabay and pexels. They are growing their library of templates and conveniently provide all the social media asset sizes we need. Also they recently created a wordpress plugin which makes it super convenient to add images to blog posts! Pros As a graphic designer I create my own graphics. Takes time and effort but I stumbled on Stencil via AppSumo and what a revelation! Stencil does the heavy lifting in graphic design; makes it easy and fun. It's got a huge selection of stock images, quotes, suggestions for posts etc. Beautifully designed, intuitive and the output is professional. That's the free version, anyway. The paid versions do have a little more flexibility in how many images you can save, etc., but you can't go wrong with Canva, and it's still a superior program to Stencil. Pros All things considered, this is a pretty good program. You've got templates to use, or you can create your own if you've got the patience to do it. I do appreciate the quality of the images that are on the templates and already "saved" within the program, and I also think that 10 free images (on the "Hobbyist" version) is plenty for most basic users. Cons I think there could be more functionality in creating your own designs. For instance, I usually use Canva and THAT software is awesome. You can choose your layout - predetermined by what you're using it for, for instance Twitter posts, etc. On Stencil you've got to be a little more hands-on in customizing your graphic, from the size to the layout. Pros The software offers the option to choose the social media size you need, or to create your own. You can easily use the program and make quick adjustments as needed to your photo creation. Cons The paid version of the software offers more free photos to use as compared to the free version. Adding new photos on a regular basis which can be used by the user would be a nice addition in the future. It is very easy to use! Pros When you re-size your image, it does it so there is rarely any need for editing. Lots of great images and templates, easy to edit, love the color picker feature so you can match font color to a color from the image quickly and easily. Also, you can save any custom sizes you need. Cons I would like to be able to make the image I am working on larger while I am working on it so it's easier to see. It works for my business but I can add things for holidays, and special events, too. Best decision I made, getting on board with Stencil. Pros This was so simple to use. No learning curve. There are a TON of prepared images, verbiage, and concepts. I can personalize everything, I can do it fast! I created a lot of different images in one short sitting and saved them so I can quickly change up my social media posts. I am so glad I found this. It has helped me so much.
