They look so fancy and professional. Besides the custom sizes (Instagram, Twitter, etc) you can personalize it. Pros \*This app has a thousand of stock photos. \*It has a lot of templates for designs. \*You can upload your own images or logos. \*You can personalize the sizes of the designs. \*You can download your designs or save them. I've been using the Stencil platform on a daily basis because of its ease of use and speed. Pros A very intuitive platform, so you can create amazing graphics without having to spend hours learning how. Because I customise most of my graphics with my clients' logos or website addresses, the fast logo/watermark feature is a godsend. The ever-expanding template feature provides a wealth of inspiration and they can be customised to suit your needs quickly. A highly reliable platform. The very rare occasional technical issues are quickly resolved. Cons I cannot think of anything. I have several high-end graphics software platforms which I only use when creating promotional materials that are going to a printer. I've never failed to find what I'm looking for. Pros I've found Stencil to be user friendly and easy to learn and when you include the greate image/icon selection it stands out as best in it's class. It's not as full-featured as something like Photoshop, and it won't produce fancy "infographics" for you, but for still images that you're going to use for social media, online ads, email signature or web banners, etc Stencil is a great tool. It's fast, intuitive, and reliable. That's what you want much of the time. Cons Only one minor quibble: You can't re-sort your custom image size definitions. Stencil provides you with a whole slew of standard defined image dimensions for various purposes & platforms. You can also add your own and name them. Unfortunately, the ones you add appear in the Custom area in the order in which you created them. You can't re-sort them by name or by size. They're permanently there in the order in which you created them. All in all, that's a very minor thing. Pros Stencil is great in that is lets me create great looking graphics quickly and easily without being a graphic designer or having to pay someone else to make images for me. They have a bunch of great templates you can pick and then modify to meet your needs. Stock photos and icons are easily searchable and there is a lot to choose from. I like how you can upload your logo or watermark and always have it available to add if needed, it's as simple as clicking. You can easily sort your images into your own folders, and can select bulk image to move to folders or to download. Cons While there are a lot of templates to choose from, I wish there were more. More generic ones, this isn't a big thing as I can easily change any if I need to, but more is always good. Review Source SS Suzanne S. I love that they are focused on one thing - they do that one thing exceedingly well. Their support is also fantastic. I had a problem once and one of their guys got onto Skype with me so we could do a screenshare for him to see what I was experiencing. He fixed it on the spot from his end, then had me verify that everything was working as it should on my end, before we ended the call. I can't speak highly enough of the Stencil team! Pros Stencil does not claim to be the be-all, end-all for creating graphics. Stencil is all about creating social media graphics quickly and easily, so you can get in, create your graphic(s), and get out and on with the rest of your day. In addition, you can use some layering features, as well as filters, shadows, and shading to spice up your graphics easily, without having to be a graphics wiz. In addition, Stencil allows you to easily resize your graphics from one to another (e.g. from Facebook to Instagram) - in one click. It can't get any easier than that. Cons For me, there aren't any. I almost didn't check out Stencil because I was a happy Canva user. I'm so glad that I did check it out! It is incredible that it already has so many social media template sizes and you can also create your own. April 19, 2019 5.0 Stencil saves me money because they have a large selection of photos I would otherwise have to pay for. It saves me time because I can format a photo in several different sizes. I love being able to add text for tweets or headline slides. I highly recommend Stencil! Pros I regularly use photos for blog posts and as background illustrations for my teaching. I absolutely love Stencil. It has an excellent collection of photos. It has a good selection of fonts and even better allows me to upload my own fonts. It allows me to choose various sizes for my photos which is really helpful when I use presentation software. It also allows me to upload my own photos and save them in different formats. I often use the same photo in five different sizes, a Facebook post, a web-site banner, a PowerPoint background and then as featured images in different programs. I love what it does. It is a great value. Cons The thing I like least about Stencil is that the thumbnails are, well thumbnails. I wish they were larger. It usually isn't a problem but I'd prefer they were larger. April 18, 2019 5.0 With Stencil I can create images twice as fast as my colleagues. I teach a social media class where I demonstrate creating a header image for Facebook, Twitter and YouTube and students are amazed when I create all three in less than 60 seconds! Pros I love this software because it's SIMPLE and EASY to use. I used to use Canva, and I have a lot of friends that love that, but I found it had too much bloat...too many features I just didn't need. Stencil allows me to create social media banners and images in a flash, and resize automatically for different channels. It also provides a TON of royalty free pictures and quotes for even faster images. And did I mention it has Wordpress integration? That puts it over the top for me--you can design pictures for your blog post AS you write. Unbelievable! Cons If I had any qualm with the software it would be the price. I'd recommend coming down to about $10/month for the value...but then again, I wouldn't want to be without it! And that also means my social media must stand out as higher in quality - in looks! - then the typical posts. I found Canva too cumbersome to use and have tried it again and again. I swear by Stencil and use it several times a day for all my marketing including poster creations, social media, book covers, report covers, etc. Pros The ease, the ability to change the size for different mediums, the ability to save previous work and templates, on and on and on... I BRAG about Stencil to all who will listen. Cons The icons. It's not about quantity, it's about the quality of them. I use them rarely because I don't want to scroll through so many to find the exact one. They each seem to have similar features. I think the difference would come down to which one a person is more comfortable using, although either gets pretty easy with a little trial and error. Pros After I got a little familiar with the program, and had uploaded some images, I could make a Twitter post with a background image, text, and a book cover, in about five minutes. This is great value with 10 images per month for free. For companies, I imagine the paid version would be worthwhile. Cons It does take some time to learn your way around the user interface. This is out of about 50+ programs that we rely on in house. Stencil is by far in my top 5. The value this program offers to us is immense. I really cannot think of anything problematic that sticks out about Stencil. I have personally tested and used maybe a dozen different graphics/design programs. There is something about Stencil that really does facilitate the creation of great looking final results. I highly recommend this tool. Pros The best features of this software are ease of use, included resources such as photo library and icons. The selection of fonts is also very impressive. The user interface has been designed in such a way that creating great looking graphics and logos is a snap. Everything flows very smoothly in the workspace. ‘Snap to grid’ works extremely well which helps with layout and creating aesthetically pleasing designs. Cons SAAS programs rely on internet connections so sometimes there is minor lagging. This could be on my end as well so I am not putting blame on the Stencil program. Review Source Goldie R. Downloading and Uploading has driven me toward competitors that do both. Love these guys and want to see them kick butt, yet the industry is changing fast and integration with buffer is necessary. The tool's editor is very simple to use and they have an impressive amount of design templates to work with. April 18, 2019 5.0 Stencil has become our go to app for quickly creating a social post on all of the networks. The ease of use and convenience is off the charts! Right click any image and crop it or start creating with it. Use it as a background or as an object in a bigger creation. Either way it is super simple and crazy fast to do with Stencil. The transparency controls are a huge plus and the fact that you can upload your own images and fonts is awesome! Stencil continues to be a major part of our businesses toolbox and we have increased our productivity because of the apps that have been replaced by Stencil. In closing that fact that it is cloud/browser based and you can get to it and your saved projects from any browser puts it over the top for me! I have and will continue to recommend Stencil for all of these reasons and many more! Pros The ease of use to simply right click an image and be able to instantly crop, edit and create using that image! Cons I have thought very hard about cons of Stencil and while I cannot find anything I really feel is a con I can suggest that they add the ability to add shadows to the pictures, objects, icons, text etc. This would add a certain type of pop to the images that is very popular these days and helps add depth to images. Cons I do not like that I cannot open the software in Google Docs. Honestly, I would like to be able to open Stencil anywhere on my computer without having to be on a website or Facebook. Pros It has an easy to use online interface. All the key graphics editing options are easy to find and apply. The user interface is clean and after using it for a while, creating new graphics for social media or for websites can be done within minutes. Cons Having used this software for more than 2 years there were initially constraints with the amount of high quality stock images, icons, templates and vector graphics available in the library, but over the years new content is regulary added and the library is updated. I almost can find whatever assets i need within minutes.
