February 12, 2019 4.0 iPad carts are much easier now to managed and set that before. keep track and maintaining has gotten better and easier 10 fold Pros Like my title, way-way better than using configurator, I get chills just saying that! makes it so much easier to manage devices and when I worked in IT in schools was much better and lot less time consuming than using configurator was. I have used Jamf tools for the computer as well, and they all work great, support is always helpful and easy to reach when need help. August 2, 2017 5.0 More control over Mac endpoints, less calls to help desk thanks to Self Service and maintenance scripts. Pros The software works; it is pretty robust. If you do run into trouble, their support team is second to none. Because they only provide mdm for Macs and iOS, the Jamf can do almost anything an IT admin would need to on a Mac or iOS device. Cons The back end user interface is a bit rough. I find it tedious sometimes trying to click through to get to places. If your new to Jamf or your organization is new to Jamf you will definitely need some basic training before you're fully up and running. Review Source TC Torreya C. We've also had problems with iOS management where options we need are greyed out and we don't know why and no one has been able to help us. We've also had a bunch of problems with high sierra compatibility. Pros It does give us a lot of flexibility and power in managing our 500 lab machines and 300 staff machines Cons There are a lot of ways of doing things, so it's been difficult for us to arrive at the BEST way to do things in our environment, and difficult to get help setting that up. We have sccm for our windows boxes and now I have a tool that works for our Macs. Pros It works really well and it is very usable. It allows us to actually manage our Macs with ease and we can know what level people are patched to with confidence. We used another vendor before that plugged into SCCM and we always had issues with it and it was no where as complete as Jamf. Great at being on time with apple updates and in tune with what Apple is releasing. Solid performance for the most part. Clear leader in apple management. Cons No way to screen share on demand. No way to see live what is happening. Third party updates are not simple to patch without tons of configuration and changes. Even on the new 10 its still not seamless. Lots of time wasted on updates. Support is top-notch and only requires an active support agreement, which is required to run JAMF Pro and receive updates. Cons I least like the jumpstart requirement when purchasing this software for the first time at a new company. Pros , like any other admin software, takes time to learn, but the panels and functions are very straight forward. I love the Dashboard feature to make it easy to see most of what I'm looking for. Self service is a very nice tool that extremly easy to set up and manage, you can also customize the look to reflect your company logo. Cons I've never used other Apple Managed software to compare to(except Apple Configuratior 2) so it's hard for me to compare. We have phased out the imaging solution we used for OSX and it has been replaced with Jamf's Application pushing method. I also like how much the community input matters and new feature requests are added all the time. Cons I don't like their support structure as much as I used to since now there are teams rather than specific people assigned to an organization. Pros This software allows me (one person in a K12 environment) to manage 1200 iPads without having to touch a single one of them. It allows me to create groups based on buildings/grade level/classes/etc. and assign different configurations to all of them without having to travel to the site. Cons There is so much to do that the software can be a bit daunting at first, BUT the classes that Jamf offers on its software (CCT/CCA/CCE) are extremely well-run and educational.
